work profile apps don't show up in recent apps, why? - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions and Answers

work profile apps don't show up in recent apps, but rather get minimized to upper left corner.
it doesn't work that way on my Note 4, so I'm wondering if maybe there's some Samsung app installed on newer Note phones that makes work profile apps behave this way.
does anyone have any idea?
I'll give "thanks" to anyone who might have a clue on what I can do, thanks!

google chrome tab switching for apps

suggestions for non rooted gear apps

Hey all
I am the proud owner of the ultimate geek accessory, the gear. I also have a totally stock att note 3. Because of this, for now I want to leave the gear unrooted. So which apps do you recommend? I know some require data so they are not practical just yet. What apps do you use? What games? I tried candy crush (cute) and mouse. I would love to listen to ebook in the car.....
Thanks for any recommendations!
if the gear is unrooted, then aren't your only options what's available in the Samsung store inside the gear manager app?
I can still side load with abd
I've been searching everywhere trying to find a way to use a keyboard to respond to messages. I sideloaded one but without null it's pointless. There has to be a way though.. For example voice memos and pictures can be sent to the device, and you can reply to sms with preset responses so why wouldn't it be possible for the gear to communicate typed responses to the sms app over it's default connection. I think the most realistic solution would be a 3rd party sms app for the phone that has a companion app for the gear, then a sideloaded keyboard, I have a feeling the keyboard would be the main issue (development-wise), but I'm holding out hope. If only I were a developer. In the meantime it's plenty useful to me.. Between the universal notifications, music control, weather, schedule & caller-ID & dialer I'm content for now. If I had paid $300 for it I might be a little less satisfied, but overall it's great fun for gadget people.
Using "sources other than Samsung Apps"
I was wondering about this too. There's an option in Gear Manager you can check that allows you to install apps from "sources other than Samsung Apps". I have no idea how to actually install other apps, or if there are any other apps I can install on the device from a non-Samsung source. Any thoughts?
Okay, side loading using a db and totally stock: subway surfers, candy crush, mouse, 100 floors (a little hard); blast monkeys (looks a little weird), building tower
Still trying out others

Bluetooth mouse issues

I have the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 with Nougat and am using a Bluetooth mouse to control my phone. Everything seems to work fine except in the Google app and certain other apps. When I initiate a search with OK Google and click on search beneath the voice results which redirects me to the Google results of the Google app, I am unable to left click on any of the links within Google search through the app. Some of the other apps that I installed, including ESPN fantasy, also will not let me click on anything. If I use Chrome and use Google search that way, I am able to click on any of the search results web links and it works without an issue. I also just noticed that when I hold down the left click on my Bluetooth mouse to select and copy text in almost all apps, including the Google app, the pop-up menu allowing me to choose those options does not show up. I am still able to do both of these functions using my finger on the screen. On my previous Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, I discovered if I downgraded to a previous version of Android system webview to a version several months old, I am able to click on the results links using the Google app without a problem. However, I do not see Android system webview listed on the installed apps and therefore cannot downgrade to a previous version. Please help me with this issue because it makes the Google app and a lot of other apps useless. The reason that these factors are so important is that I am in a wheelchair and I am using my wheelchair joystick which acts as a normal Bluetooth mouse to completely control my phone.
im not sure the note 8 would be ideal for you seeing as the s-pen might be impeding some of the mouse interaction, but that aside, have you tried the universal switch in
Accessibility-->dexterity and interaction-->universal switch (ignore the post if you have looked into this already)
once you slide this on you should be able to add custom switches from connected devices, unfortunately i do not have a mouse bluetooth or otherwise to test this out
edit: you might want to try and turn off the power saver under settings-->advance features--> S Pen (just guessing but it might be ignoring click commands due to disable pen input)
Your suggestions did not work. Also, I have tried the universal menu button but I am unable to click it with the Bluetooth mouse. Do you think it is something related to the Android system webview or the Google app? Because I remember last time on the Samsung S7 Edge marshmallow that downgrading those apps to a older version made these problems go away.

How to customize apps on watch?

When going to the apps portion of the watch, apps I hardly use on my phone show up. Like American Airlines. I don't need or want that on my watch, but would love to have Spotify there, or What'sApp.
Can someone advise? Thanks.

Customize AA Launcher problem?

I recently discovered that AA no longer allows me to re-organize my app order. The apps are all there, but there is no way to re-organize them. Has anybody else encountered this issue?
For the record, it use to be that there were three lines that allowed one to pick up and move the apps within the AA Customize Launcher setting, which allowed one to drag-and-drop to the position desired (e.g. putting Waze at the top of the launcher so it was the first app encountered on the head-unit so no scrolling would be required).
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
B.D.

Click to collapse
Yes, it is a limitation of Android Auto...
Some months ago I was a beta tester of Google play services and in Android Auto was possible to reorganize the app order.
But now I'm not a beta tester and there is only an option to select the apps you want to use in Android Auto.
This is my experience, maybe it will be useful for you
