Why not?
Alright, so I decided to only flash the ROM and nothing else to test and see what it would be like. It turns out the ROM is pretty amazing. Its pretty fluid, has great features(some similiar to AEX, but that's expected partially), and a really clean stock feel to it that feels different than the other Oreo ROMS. the downside now is that due to flashing this my TWRP recovery has vanished and is now replace with a recovery that is like stock recovery on Nougat. My /cache is formatted as f2fs while checking the recovery logs. To avoid the trouble awaiting me, I plan on backing up my internal storage, wiping everything, going to flash TWRP through EDL and try again to see if it happens again. I'll report back as soon as possible.
EDIT: Looks like everything is flashing good now. Got TWRP back and i'm about to try this ROM again. Thank you for your work Kranoner

So far so good. Installed without a hitch (Nfound's Oreo bootstack, TWRP 3.2.1, GZR Zero Gapps). Plenty of options. Responsive and fluid. Substratum complies themes super fast. The fastest I've ever seen.
The only immediate problem I've seen is in App Info. Any change to an app in that section causes the section to lock down. Disabling an app, for example, renders the app info section unusable. You can't re-enable, force stop, clear cache and so on. All selectable options are unresponsive to touch and remain that way even after a reboot. That could complicate things greatly.
Other than that, and the ongoing call bug, everything else seems to be in order.
@troy5890, that was a bummer. I could be wrong but I think it's almost a requirement to flash root with a ROM to keep things in order. Last time I tested a ROM bare my filesystems got changed to f2fs and whatnot.
@Cablespider, I run Bootleggers on a Moto and get the same AppInfo behavior. GZOSP also (which Bootleggers is based on).
At first I thought how am I supposed to manually change permissions so I did so going through App Permissions.
Then I realized that an app had to be run at least once before I could manipulate its AppInfo. I don't know, kind of strange behavior.

flash face unlock module for oreo in magisk. no need for nano gapps, u could use pico and still have face unlock if u flash that.

You can just flash the gapps again you will get the face unlock that's just a bug in all Oreo roms

giving this rom a run the only things i've noticed is in bootlegger's options > gestures there's nothing to choose from
and like stated the touch delay/bit lag but think i read in another post that can't be helped on your end

working on Y variant but I observed that there's no screen flash on selfie and on simcard tool kit menu, the balance inquiry isn't working too.

Protip: when on sailfish always remember you are marlin's lil bro and there's always 10x more content and context over there ;P Just kidding, but in all seriousness, poking around this rom's thread on the marlin forum confirms this is currently still on Nov, with Dec apparently imminent.

Edit: Rom is calling for pq1a.181205.002.a1 vendor, which is 12-05 dec security patch. Are you sure you weren't on November? I figured you were on Dec so dirty flashed over Nov Pixel Dust but now I'm getting vendor mismatch so looked it up to confirm. Gonna track it down and report back, other than that seems initially stable even w/o clean flashing from other custom rom.

Yerp, figured it out post flash It calls for vendor for pq1a.181205.002.a1. However, noticed in About phone, build number is 181205.006 (XL3) for me? Flashing the vendor from the dec sailfish image worked.

Flashed this this morning and its wonderful. Smooth rom, widgets and D2W are working too. Clean flashed stock, then clean flashed rom and shagapps. Stock kernel, no substratum, no magisk, yet. Will report if I find any issues/bugs

Thank you! The eyes start to miss settings after a certain number of sweeps. Is there some alternative to temporary auto lock prevention in this rom? I've seen roms handle it differently I feel, miss dat caffeine tho

I have just installed this rom today. It has really huge customization options. I will use it as daily driver for the moment. if i get a bug i will comment it

Installed yersterday. For the moment no more bugs than the ones the developer describes. Really smoth and fast for now. And i really like the personalization options it has

If you're coming rom previous GApps build make sure you flash the latest GApps build to update.
Do I download both Vanilla and gapps? Or Just one and clean install?

Pick any one of them you prefer. If you flash Vanilla please flash GApps.

Bootleggers ROM is an aftermarket firmware based on AOSP with some patches and fixes from LineageOS and various other projects. The idea is to bring custom features and some of the most useful apps on your device, with the goal of Making you feel like 家.
With an almost stable source, this ROM is also packed with some custom wallpapers (avaliable on ShishuWalls), ringtones, fonts, and themes to bring to your device into a more fresh look and give you always a good experience.

Please ensure that you are running stock ROM and kernel. No Xposed or other hacky crap. Create a logcat.

Try install newest tuned kernel. On lineage OS 16, phone i always cold.

something that would be cool would be a power opition (power saving efficiency balanced gaming etc.)
Sim card sliders don't work for both of them.
How can reduce hw keys light? And active battery percentage

It's a problem I also get, better going back to android 9 till android 10 is perfectly built by a developer
