Still receiving security patches after almost 2 years - Moto E3 Guides, News, & Discussion

Surprised to see Motorola continuing to support this with security updates (quarterly), it's coming up to nearly 2 years in July since it was released, and I just got the March 2018 security update on my Moto E3, however given it's nearly 2 years old this might be it's last one (hopefully not).
Last few updates were:
Sept 17
Dec 17
Mar 18

I m also using last two year this phone and I am satisfied with this security patch updates atleast they provided and I m only complaints about nougat update

Can't say that I'm surprised. But our phone would have benefited from a better, more system wide multi window.

I think nougat released before our 2 yr support ends so we will get it. but in march april next year unless someone leaks it before.

I doubt it because in 2017, that's beyond's note 4's 2 year support. 2016 is the end. and also, if you look at the Note 3, it got its last update in dec. 2015 and it is still 5.0. That was "27" months of support for the Note3.
Using the note 3 as the base, if we were to get android 7, we would have to get it by dec. 2016.

Yea your right. But that is assuming Samsung release Android 7 "on time". Looking back at Android 6, it came out of Google on October 2016. The first note 4s got Marshmellow around June 2016, 8 months after Google released it. But this is still within note 4's 2 year period (note 4 came oUT on Oct. 2014).
Since android 7 was released in Aug 2016, this means that Samsung has around 4 months to release Android 7 to us before 2016 is over. Looking at the past examples, now do you see why I doubt we will get it? Of course this is all my speculation and I'll happily be wrong if do end up getting it.
Samsung mostly gives 2 major system updates to any flagship phone.
Since gingerbread i have been observing that every two version of android looks similar .
Excluding honeycomb cause it was only for tabs.
That also explains why every two versions of touchwiz look similar.
Gingerbread and ICS had many similarities, jelly bean and kitkat had similarities and also lollipop and marshmallow.
This is why the odd galaxy notes(1,3,5) have always been lucky .
There last update isn't similar to previous one , infact there is a major change in terms of UI and features.
For eg. Note 1's last update was jellybean , which was completely different than ICS .
Same for note 3 , whose last update was lollipop , a major upgrade over kitkat .
But unfortunately the even notes have been unlucky.
The note 2's last update was kitkat , which wasn't a big upgrade over jellybean , the UI was almost identical.
And as for the note 4 ,its last update is marshmallow , which samsung decided not to modify for note 4 and hence looks similar to lollipop.

Question Frequency of Android Security patches on OnePlus 10 Pro (EU version NE2213 for the dual sim)

Hi everyone, I need your help. My company requires that my phone has an Android security patch within the last 2 months. Because of this, I had to get a new phone (old OnePlus 5t support ended a long time ago). I got a OnePlus 10 Pro. It is on version NE2213_11_A.17, with an Android security update date of August 5, 2022. This is older than 2 months.
My question is, how often does OnePlus generally release patches with newer Android Security versions? Is it a bad idea for me to have this phone - should I return it and get a Pixel 7 Pro instead (which has much worse battery life)?
I heard about Oxygen Updater (new to this), and it is showing an available update to NE2213_11_C.21. Will using Oxygen Updater consistently allow me to remain within the 2 months of android security update dates, do you guys think?
I am asking because I have a few days to return this phone, after that I'll be stuck with it. I hope to be able to use it for the full 4 years of promised security updates.
Thank you!!!
Lol, this doesn't exists. Unless you're using pixel phone.
There is no company that guarantee to update the security patch so often.
But OnePlus releases an update almost every month, sometimes it includes security patches.
Xiaomi also does every 20-35 days with security patches.
Just say to them and keep using it. There is no patches that need to be so urgent.
Companies just like the burocracy and thinking that they are fine. When on reality they're more vulnerable that they realize.
Unfortunately the Device Policy actually disables my work profile apps, so I have no choice...
Hum, undertood.
So you have to chose and buy a device or they will provide you one ?
Because if they won't provide, they should allow employees to use whatever device they want.
I am buying it myself. I just bought the OnePlus 10 Pro (coming from a One Plus 5t) because it seems to be better than Pixel. So I would prefer to keep it, if 95% of the time it will be within 2 months old android security update. Otherwise I should return it while I can and buy a Pixel 7 Pro (much worse battery life and slower processor as I understand)

Yes, I agree with you on that. I use to use pixel before but they're terrible I had problems with device bricking, battery life and it resetting itself from nowhere.
With O10 pro no problems so far..
I think your workplace has dropped the ball on this, you're going to struggle to keep that up to date.
It's possible you may be able to spoof this but you'd need to root etc.
If your phone isn't fit for purpose then they should provide you with a phone.
Further to this, I think you dropped the ball getting a OnePlus 10, not a great phone buddy.
Sorry

NE2213_11_C.21 security update ctober 5 2022
When it comes to security patches, if that's your only concern, get samsung or pixel. You'll get latest security patches every month.
OnePlus is not as fast unfortunately, they promised bimonthly patches, but it doesn't necessarily mean you'll get the latest one.
Not sure how it looks on 10 pro but on 9 pro we got e.g. august security patch in September (and that was an upgrade from may patch) so it was far away from perfect.

General Why this delay from Samsung ?

Hi ,
I would like to know why the S8 ultra wifi tablet is the only one not to have a new rom since February? All other releases had March or even April. And I'm talking of course about wifi versions of the tab s8 or tab s8+ series. Thank's for your answer .
February was just 2 months back. And Tablets don't receive updates as frequently as mobile phones.
Update available in the UK, security patch 1st May. Gallery also has the S23 range features.
