Plz Requesting cstark27 for new Google Camera app for Moto X4 - Moto X4 Questions & Answers

Hello everyone. There is a developer named cstark27 in the xda forums. He has one LG V30 whose camera configuration is same as Moto X4 (having a wide angle setup). He's in active development of porting the GCAM to the normal as well as LG's wide-angle mobile.
So I would like everyone to request him (cstark 27) to develop a port for us (especially for the wide angle setup) this will help us to utilize our camera in a much better manner.
Also, mention him that our front camera just reads 4MP with all the ports of GCAM. It will be really awesome if we can utilize the 16MP option.
His profile link is: https://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=2712580
P.S. - I don't know how to tag him in this post. If anybody knows do tell me, please. It will help us and our communityty. Also if possible please tag other developers too. To get a list of developers visit the following page: https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/
Under the "Downloads" there is a section Devs (BSG,Arnova8G2,cstark27.......) , plz tag them to this post so that they help.
Thanks a lot.

That's fine but it needs rooting right? I don't wanna root my mobile coz unlike xiaomi mobiles I can easily loose my warranty

I wished he me would make one for the x4 but haven't found one yet

I just use this GCam version below. No root required.
Arnova's v7beta9
GoogleCamera-Pixel2Mod-Arnova8G2-V7beta-test-9.apk
As for the wide angle setup thing.. Come on.. who told you that the V30 and X4 have the same configuration? Just because they both have wide angle lens doesn't mean the hardware and configuration is similar. As for the GCam using 4MP only on the front camera... it is due to the fact that Motorola made this the default mode so the sensor size will increase to a very large 2 micron pixel. Hence, better in low/indoor lighting.
Better request Arnova instead of cstark27 because his work is more compatible to our phone.

Oh sorry, I know root isn't required. However as far as I know there's no Gcam port currently working with the wide angle lens of the Moto x4 but if you have found one that's great. I think the main request of this thread is to have a port that works with the wide angle and czstark is the one who brought it to the LG G6 and V30 if I understand everything correctly!

[06.09.2017] Google Camera incl HDR+ 60FPS / RAW photos

Hi guys,
I thought i just keep posting the new Google Camera versions modified by BSG. @snowwolf725 seems to upload them on Androidfilehost. So credits to him.
Hope it is okay if I post them here. There are 2 versions now:
1st one:
Lens blur still broken
MGCB_7.0H_C2API_Min_v.3.2_AllinOne_Full_Manual
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B6ejYykLAFSdSjd1TjBua19LM00
Changelog:
Code:
[B]3.2 all in one [/B]
- lots of custom settings
- honestly losing the overview and google translate is not the best
- basically an updated version of the one @sergykm provided
If you prefer 60 fps video over RAW photos this is the one for you:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=817550096634795625
Changelog:
Code:
[B]Modded GCam Min 1.3 with 60 fps video support[/B]
- 60 FPS video support
- older version, so no ongoing development and no raw photos
Btw this is the original post:
https://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=782469&st=4340#entry63971754
Requires Android 7.0
Can I choose the camera? as I found that only one of the wide back camera could be used. the normal back camera cannot be used.
Is this a new version? When did it came out??
Seems to work can only using the front camera and the rear 16mp camera, not the wide camera as mentioned above. But i think it's losing alot of detail somewhere compaired to stock as its 1mb -3mb less than stock
Is Lens Blur working for you guys? Mine is crashing when proccesing the image..

Afaik this is by Googles rendering methods and there shouldnt be any lost details. You can take a photo with stock and one with G cam and compare them on your pc with a 100% crop. Should be the same level of detail.
Havent tried it myself yet but I am happy with the quality and I've read somewhere that Google enhanced compression a lot

Unfortunately also crashing for me. (since the first version already)
Edit:
There is a newer version with some fixes for front flash and video recording. If anybody has the issues on their phone I'll post the link.
The original dev works mainly on the mi5s so I don't think our devices are affected by this.
Ok, another new version with WORKING CONFIGS.
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B-Y4Wh0lWPBGNlFma1FZcFp5UXM
You can change different configs in the settings. You don't need restart your camera, it's working at once.
Before install clear data and cache and remove previous version. If you have FC after change config just clear data and cache of app..
So, maybe anybody can test and compare different configs?
can someone make a working version for g5 se (H840)?

The mod works only for Snapdragon 820 and above, and in some others but only in special cases... So i dont think it will be available for th g5 se soon
I tried Version 3.4, 3.5 and 3.6. It seems that all the new configs which are designed for the mi5s break a few things for us. Hence I couldn't get any of them to process HDR+ properly.
Noise was pretty high and the images inferior to the ones taken with the LG G6 camera app from fulmics. If you guys want I can still provide the newer versions but I don't think that it's worth installing them.

I had the same experience... Currently using Mod_GCam_4.4.012_MI5S_7.0H_Cam2API_Final_1.0.apk.
The processing takes quite a toll on the processor, but it produces nice pictures. My wife has a Nexus 5X and her pics are still better though
earlier port that is 1.4 was working fine
Has there been any progress with the Lens Blur on G5?
I would love to have this feature... (if anyone made this into a paid app i would buy it right away...)
Also i think the Photos taken with my G5 (stock cam as well) look too "soft", like a filter rounded off all the edges...

Do you know how to configure the app so that both HDR+ and blur work. When I change the config to Nexus 6 HDR works but blur crashes, when I use the original config there is no HDR.

all new versions there, arnovas latest build has working HDR+ for me. (camera set to pixel 2, htd config to nexus 6 auto)
using fulmics rom btw

Google Camera (HDR+) Port on Moto X4

As you guys know, camera performance on the Moto X4, put bluntly, has been less than stellar. Also of note: the Google Camera app (Auto HDR+) has been ported to multiple other Android devices, and it seems as though any device able to utilize the Camera2 API with a Hexagon DSP and Spectra ISP is compatible with the ported camera app. As of a few days ago, the Modded Google Camera ported apk was found to work with the Moto X4, as seen on Reddit in the links below:
https://www.reddit.com/r/ProjectFi/...orted_hdr_pixel_camera_apk_works_for_moto_x4/
https://www.reddit.com/r/MotoX4/comments/77vn3w/psa_google_camera_port_hdr_from_pixel_works_on_x4/
As discussed already, the performance of the Moto X4's camera with the port is much better all round (especially low-light photography) than it is with Motorola's own camera app, which is slow and lacks good processing. Now, listed on some of the posts of the Reddit links above (much more information on the matter there) are links to all of the different apks (some fully functioning, some as test versions, some that are manual and configurable) of the Ported Google Camera app; credits to developers B-S-G and Ivanich for making this possible. Mind you, the most stable apk (Ivanich v1.4 Full PXL2) is configured for the OnePlus 3 most natively, which doesn't seem to support as many newer features of the Google Camera app as the Moto X4 does. That said, if a more stable apk of the ported Google Camera app can be configured to best go along with the hardware of the Moto X4's camera (as has been done with the Xiaomi Mi A1), then for those who aren't concerned about using the secondary camera, there will be a viable option for much improved photography on the Moto X4 as well, that takes advantage of the hardware present more effectively. Again, much more detailed explanation of these concepts on Reddit, in the links provided above. I wanted to bring attention to this for those who are interested over here.
Only deficiency of the apk...
You have the option to delete photos while HDR+ is still processing them. If you do, it seems to get stuck in the notification bar. I don't know if this impacts anything, but just a note.
Great find! Mine comes in tomorrow, and I can't wait to try this out!
I wonder: is anybody working on configuring an apk better suited for the Moto X4's camera hardware, and/or is anyone willing to? As of right now, these are the config options that work most effectively on the Moto X4's hardware (as posted in the r/projectfi [1st] Reddit link):
Phone Model - Nexus 6P. All work here, but the 6P option seems to be the best in low light.
Config camera - Pixel 2017 Zsl HDR #1 and #2 options can crash the app (if you crash it, clear data/cache). All the others seem to work. ZSL is for HDR Auto mode. Pixel 2016 Zsl HDR is most optimal.
Buffers Size - 15 (optimal)
Note: this is the configurable mod below:

When you do try it out, if you can compare picture/video quality to the stock Motorola app, that'd be great, and something I suggest you do anyway to see how you feel about it.
Crashes
Anyone else seeing frequent crashes?
Update: These settings at least seem to keep my moto x4 from crashing for now. I usually can make them happen with some settings by force closing the camera app then starting it again.

Config camera - Pixel 2017 Hardware Zsl (DR Dogfood)
Buffers size - 15 optimal
Total imagereader image coung - 14 (AllPixel+AllExp)
hdr+ burst frame count - 8 (nexus 6)
Calculation hdr+ image count - Pixel, PixelXL

No it's not the same , what you tried was probably gcam4.4 based, the apk i gave link to is based on gcam 4.2 arm version. anyway thanks for trying.
Update: the new Arnova8G2 manual gcam apk works for this device as well. From what I've been told, it provides a similar image quality with better color processing than other gcam ports, and better video quality. This is MUCH better performing in most every aspect that Motorola's stock app. It can be found in the first Reddit link in the original post in this thread (I'm the OP), or directly from here: https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/. The Arnova8G2 manual mod is based off of a newer version of Gcam, that being 5.1.014 I believe, as opposed to 4.2.x, as the BSG and Ivanich mods are based off of.

So far, how do you feel about the image and video quality with the updated version of this app? Also, how do you feel it stacks up against other devices that you've worked with in the past?
Just tried the newly released v9.1 version. Very impressive with low light indoors. Pictures came out looking like the room was well lit, when it was in fact dimly lit. Also, switching to 60fps on video provides a much brighter/clearer image.

I meant to try it out, but I haven't had the time. I was using the older version of the Gcam to record video at a wedding this past weekend: VERY dark lit dance floor with strobe/lights moving all around, and fast movement. Even at the brightest setting, it was still too dark to see almost anything. I know this is a worst case video scenario, but if the new apk improves video low-light, that would be great!

Nope, don't own one yet. There is no difference in image processing between the two, as they both run the same versions of Motorola's camera software and have the same hardware in tow as well; there'd be no reason for the app to process images differently on the regular version than on the Android One version. They both have poorly optimized camera software in common.

Moto G5s Plus correct camera sensor and chipset

Hello everyone!
Creating this thread in order to clarify some details about our device.
I recently bought it (Europe version-xt1085,3Gb RAM/32gb) but instead of a SD625 it has a SD626. How is it possible? And giving the fact that there are rumors that also note that our camera sensor is a Sony IMX 258 Bayer and not a samsung CMOS makes me doubt much of the initial information provided or found. Can somebody please post different screenshots from the first page of CPU-Z and also to check system/etc/camera for camera msm Sanders XML for those who have the device rooted? I do not want to root it yet as Oreo updates are rolling in a couple of days.
I also want to find a solution to exceed the limitations of the software processing of the camera to the full potential of the sensor (if it is a Sony one indeed).
Thank you
Also take a look at the attachment.
Ok
SD 626 too
Mine also says Snapdragon 626, it's a CPU-Z bug. But regarding the camera sensor I have no idea if there's any way to improve the image quality via modifying the image processing.

You can see clearly the name S5K3L8 as the rear sensor (mono&rgb). And at the other screenshot, the name S5K4H8 which is a selfie samsung sensor. You can google both of these sensors and their details are going to match our device's details.
There are also two files of the IMX258 in the camera folder but they're useless or maybe they put it to fake the users who, like me and many more, would be pissed off if they found out what a crap of a sensor they would have in their device.
The dev of the camera improvements of G5 Plus told me that the only way of improving it is by copying the tuning of other S5K3L8 sensors used in other devices. But it is used in Xiaomi Redmi 4 and its camera is worse than ours so i don't think that is going to be a good idea. Another way actually is by modifying the libs yourself. Which i cannot do at the moment.
Just use Google Camera for taking pictures atm. Its HDR+ mode is a touch of magic.

The only way to confirm properly is to look at the hardware. Any idea where we may be able to find images of just the Samsung camera module so I can compare it the the one in my G5S+?
To be honest I'm very happy with the way my HDR+ photos turn out.
My family are convinced this has a better camera than the iPhone SE from using gcam, so the phone must be somewhat capable of good photos Low light photos are crap though, tons of noise.
EDIT: Samsung specs say the S5K3L8 sensor is capable of only 30fps. Given we can record 1080p/60fps maybe it isn't that sensor?
That's strange, my g5s plus can only shoot 1080p/30fps. I don't know if it was after the latest camera update or not.
Edit: my mistake, apparently i was looking at the front camera settings. The rear camera can shot 1080p/60 just fine and are up to 30fps 4k

The samsung sensor is capable of shooting 4k videos but it is not enabled in most devices that are using it. For example in Xiaomi Redmi devices. I do not know precisely why and how but any speculation would bring no improvement to the camera whatsoever.

Other camera apps

Is there any other apks I can download to help the camera? Coming over from a Pixel XL and the difference is significant in a bad way and was curious to help that.
Well yes. The pixel 2 camera app is reportedly working on the v40. It doesnt support the telelens yet though. But it removes the oversharpening. Adds image stacking to remove grainyness. Better hdr which increases dynamic range and better colors.
Its nonroot and doesnt replace the main camera. First enable allow packages from non official sources.
Also id love to see some comparison shots.

Only one I've found that works mostly is the latest fu24 gcam build. it does lag when focusing, but runs much better than the cstark27 builds, and any other just crashes on launch. Source: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77979245&postcount=999
Could you post some comparison pics please? Id love to see what that f1.5 cam can do or what the ultrawide can get turn into.

What version of gcam supports dual lens on razer phone 2?

I have a gcam that only supports wide-angle cameras, but I can't see a gcam that supports telephoto cameras.
I asked this a while back in the main Gcam thread and no one answered, so it may not be available (or possible?) yet. I do know third party camera apps often have issues accessing anything other than the main front and rear cameras, so I don't have very high hopes for this. For as bad as the poem camera app is, I had higher hopes for using the telephoto lens.

I found that this one seems to work.
There is a huge delay switching cameras unless you configure the ratio to the 16:9 crop. If it's on 4:3 there is a delay.
This wasn't setup for the Razer phone 2 FYI.

Thanks, a good gcam, did not function with tele for me, but i did not delete the old version. I use them both in the same phone.
Took a while to get the right parameters.

What parameters do you use? I think you can export settings in the app as a .xml
