1) Why did you cross post in the PN thread?
2) Why would you think that a ROM which is actively being developed is unsafe to install?
"Good judgment comes from experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgment." - Will Rogers
I'm sure when the devs feel their Rom(s) is stable, to their satisfaction, they'll post an official link for it.
As far as safety is concerned, I've never encountered anything negative in regards to security with ROMs from XDA.
If you're concerned about stability, no harm in waiting a while until a Rom that you are interested in changes it's status to stable.

There will NOT be an official link to SiX rom on XDA.. too many politics involved and other groups that have a jealousy problem

There are other Oreo roms for N6, although one was based on S.i.X Oreo, and one has ceased development. S.i.X Oreo build is as safe as it gets. There was a S.i.X Oreo thread here in Nexus 6 Adroid Developement, but it was closed by the developer because people published links to his rom without permission. You'll have to do your own search on Google to find it, but it's well worth the effort to find. The developer has continued to update S.i.X Oreo , now at 1.9 and in a few days 2.0. Everything is working except NFC, because it was removed for now, and OK Google which works partially. It's smooth, fast, reliable, no reboots or fc issues as reported in earlier releases, and on other N6 Oreo roms. S.iX Oreo is the smoothest and best of the Oreo roms that have popped up here on XDA. It was the first Oreo release for the N6 and there were other developers in the SiX Oreo telegram chat getting help from Frankie with their own Oreo roms. When S.i.X Oreo left XDA and went underground the Oreo roms slowed or stopped! Hmmmm. So, it seems that S.i.X Oreo is the one to stick with. Just Google it, you'll see. Enjoy!

One plus update to Android 8.1 OP 3 / 3T?

Do you think that One Plus updates OP 3 / 3T to Android 8.1 or will it leave it in stable 8.0?
I doubt it. They want us to buy newer models.
As told to consumers by the Staff, the 3/3T will not be getting 8.1 Oreo as it is beyond the update cycle of the phones.
8.0 will be the final update pushed out officially by OnePlus.
However, you do have the choice of using ROM's when the Developer Previews are done on the Google Nexus/Pixel devices.
Edit: As pointed out to me by @Samitha192, Adam Krisko at OnePlus confirmed that 8.1 will be coming to the 3/3T.
Let's get 8.0 rolled out beyond open beta before we start speculating the future.

It is under Oreo in AOSP, but it is a major OS revision. The Galaxy S7 did not get 7.1 , but it did get 7.0.
Don't keep hopes on OEM's releasing updates for phones that may be 2 years old when the 8.1 development has begun.

Samsung won't be updating their devices to 7.1 unless it's the device last update.
Any currently OS updated phone by Samsung will be done updated to Oreo.

8.1 looks more incremental than the jump from 7.0 to 7.1 (new sdk and some drastic changes)
Hopefully we get 8.1 on our devices. If OP to stop supporting 3/3t I'm expecting them to release the camera blobs so we can get 100% out of the hardware moving forward. :good:
I think these two will get the official android 8.1 update as there is already an unofficial Nitrogen OS 8.1 ROM for OnePlus 3/3T based on android 8.1 oreo is availble.

They said somewhere that they will release a 8.1 update for our phone, but can't find the source at the moment.
I only found this article: OnePlus 3/3T and 5/5T will get Android 8.1 Oreo but no Project Treble

Tbh Nitrogen 8.1 is better than Oxygen. Battery life is about an hour better with stock kernel.

I can second this, really impressed with the 12/12 build of NitrogenOS Oreo 8.1 ROM. Only thing I miss is SELinux enforced, but this will probably be changed when everything is working in enforced mode.

Yeah only reason its permissive is because this is a user-debug build. If I were to build a user build, it would be enforced and all.

What?, not yet,, just stay 8.0 if you want oos,,
Um what? OOS 8.1/5.1 will only be released when OnePlus does it. There are no OOS 5.1 "based" ROMs as of yet. No one can make a OOS 5.1 OTA other than OnePlus.
FreedomOS/theOne3TOS, they're all just modified OOS OTAs with Add-ons. Nothing else. Their Android system isn't modified, just with Add-ons, like Root/Equalizers/Magisk Modules and so on. These aren't ROMs per sé, just fitted with an Aroma Installer to select add-ons and for easier installation.
All in all, don't keep hope on OnePlus releasing Android 8.1 for the 3/3T. They promised N for the 2, and it never happened. .

The OnePlus 2 was, is and will be the unwanted child.
But that's an other discussion.

It was a failure yes, but there are still users who bought it and most of them do not know about Custom ROMS. They should keep the customers happy, not looking at the device status.
I honestly don't have any hope that the 3/3T will see the light of 8.1/5.1

Android Pie 9.0 Based ROMs

Y'all knew this thread would popup eventually! Now that the final build of Android Pie 9.0 has been rolled out on Pixel devices, does anyone plan on looking into the feasibility of bringing a Pie-based custom ROM to our 4+ year old phone? It would be cool to run with a version of Android that's 5 major versions newer than what this model was released with!
probably, but considering that we do not have lineage OS 15 official support, it is very difficult

Okay, sounds fair enough. The thing is that you'll have to flash ROMs on your own to check what is better for you.
I'll recommend you to open ROM section of Redmi 4X and and in new tab open YouTube and check and compare what suits for you because everyone has different choices and usage.
For me this ROM works great in terms of battery backup, performance and features (which is important to me)
Oreo based...
Resurrection Remix
dot OS
Havoc OS (ignore final build it has random reboot issue)
Pie based...
Arrow OS.
Havoc OS(using currently and it has good battery backup)
crDroid
Waiting for dot OS

Okay, go for Arrow OS then it has very limited customisation and it is close to stock Android You can check its UI and review on YouTube.
I haven't tried lineage OS (both Oreo and Pie) I like feature full of ROM which is can customize the way I want so I can't say anything about lineage OS but it you can check its thread for more details and it's stability, battery backup and bugs related stuff.

I don't get what you want exactly?
Custom roms are usually based on lineage OS and they get modified further by different rom developers and rom community.
There's currently no official Android pie based lineage OS available as I am writing this comment, however there's lineage Oreo ROM available which is nightly build.
If you only want to flash lineage OS then flash it. Pie ROM unofficially available flash it if you want to. They do get updated once developers avails it.
Also I did not get why are you sharing this stuff here, I think it's irrelevant.
There's also many other roms gives ota's and IMO it doesn't matter much if it's ota's or not. One can flash it manually. Only benefit is we get to know new update is available.
Wait for lineage OS pie official or flash Oreo based official lineage OS.
Seriously decide first what you want, I've given much of my time I think it won't be possible for me to do.

You'll find several custom roms official ones and unofficial ones.
Official ones are supported by its rom community and developers here help each other to build builds. you'll often see in credits that several rom community and developers helped to build it.
Unofficial ones are those builds which individual developer(s) built it on their own time they might have taken help from other developers (individual or from community)
XDA is most trusted among android enthusiast website. i can't say anything about other websites.
Custom roms needs to uploaded on their own website or some other cloud storage such as Gdrive, androidfilehost, sourceforge. usually this are download pages you'll be directed to.
If there is any other community or website i can't say anything about it.
Your discretion is advised in such cases.
For your information i've never had any issues with links shared on xda.
it is hard work from developers and community which avails custom rom to us which i appreciate and same goes to XDA.
If any case you are skeptical do not proceed, but it is better than that Xiaomi's MIUI which where they clearly said we will use user data and process it and data will send to their servers.
