Here's actually one of its saving features, there are barely any camera right now on smartphones with high pixel density such as 21mp.
The camera is very good in a well lit environment, giving you very clear photos and rivaling a point and shoot cheap digital camera.

Back camera color is good enough, but photos can appear grainy. Front camera is similar.
Honestly, it's quite poor. If you care about camera quality this isn't the phone for you. If you need a good camera your going to have to pay for something more expensive.
The new Moto G is supposed to have a better camera
Good enough for me, but I'm not a photo guru, the pictures are adequate enough in decent light.

I state that I'm not a photography expert but in my opinion, 3.5 stars would be the best vote to give, to be precise 4 because it makes good photos being a medium-low range, 3 because in general it is not the best. In light conditions the photos are taken decently (sometimes you notice a bit of noise) and the HDR works well even if not always. Indoor photos are mediocre. In other words more lightthere is, better is the image quality.

The 16mp shooter does a great job in outdoor light.

Good Photo quality.....as a my opinion?
the color reproduction and dynamic range of the phone's camera are preety decent(on a well-lit environment) and the focus is slow but it gets the job done. also i use other manual camera apps than the stock since stock only have limited options to choose fron
Photos is great when there is enough sunlight, however the colors seems to be a bit over-saturated

don't get fooled by the camera sensor coming from a google pixel. there's a night and day difference between the both.
picture quality is decent. i assume it'll remain that way for a while.
