There is a night mode that doesn't turn your screen red it just lowers the lighting of the backlight by a significant amount, if you turn the nightmode on and lower the brightness near lowest it looks the screen is almost off definitely a good thing.

There is night mode in nougat which can reduce the blue light. Keep it at the warmest setting and lowest brightness, pretty good. No issues browsing in dark with those settings and easy on the eyes.

You don't have to install any third party app for reducing the brightness in night because it has minimum brightness level of 0.7 nits which is extremely low level brightness. So you can have strain free reading or browsing or something in night✌

I have to use a third-party app to get the brightness down enough. It still glows like it's daytime in my room.
Minimum brightness is nice with the Night Light enabled. With this special colour mode you can comfortably read something before going to sleep.
