[GUIDE]Dump all partitions and make complete backup - Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 Guides, News, & Discussio

Make complete backup of all partitions before rooting your device. So you can restore to stock condition and get OTA.
Requirements:
Asus Zenfone Max Pro with unlocked bootloader and stock condition (i.e. never rooted never flashed twrp)
Modded TWRP image
Backup Script
A 32gb+ memory card formatted to exfat, in the phone
Instructions:
1. Download backup.rar and extract it
2. Use command to flash TWRPnomount.img to recovery partition
Code:
fastboot flash recovery TWRPnomount.img
3. Press and hold volume down+power on to boot to TWRP. (NOTE: If your device boots to system, you need to do from step 2 again, otherwise you'll boot to stock recovery instead)
4. Once TWRP boots up, connect your phone to PC and open/run backup.bat
5. Wait till it backs it up (will take time)
Also, you can use native twrp backup function (will be added soon) to backup all partition
Partitions format will be added soon, for now all are dump files.

Oneplus 3 decryption Ultimate guide

Ok guys, this is a sureshot guide for
PROBLEM
* anyone wanting to decrypt their op3 but stuck at 1+ boot screen(Or not able to boot any custom ROMs.) and only able to restore twrp backups
* After using fastboot format userdata twrp and about phone shows only 32gb phone memory(where the hell is my rest of 32gb )
* Fastboot format userdata resulting in Stuck at boot screen or simply an unbrick trick to return to Stock OOS in unencrypted stage
SOLUTION
1. Use method 2 of Mega unbrick guide to restore your phone to stock partitions found here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/how-to/guide-mega-unbrick-guide-hard-bricked-t3405700
2. After the flashing is complete do not reboot the phone instead reboot directly into bootloader.
3. In fastboot mode flash modded twrp 3.0.2.22 using command ''fastboot flash recovery recovery.img'' found here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/?id=15934#downloads
4. Reboot directly into twrp and using mtp mode copy latest elemental x kernel or bluspark kernel zip for OOS and SYSTEM supersu.zip into the internal storage. System supersu.zip here OR directly proceed to step 8
https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/supersu/download/zip/SuperSU-v2.78-201609011115.zip
5. Now flash system supersu.zip and directly after that kernel.zip
6. Now again reboot to recovery directly and from twrp boot into system.
7. After boot up you system should be decrypted. You can check in security settings.
8.Reboot recovery and flash required firmware + modem zip found here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/how-to/radio-modem-collection-flashable-zips-t3468628
9.wipe data +cache +dalvik +system
10. Flash any rom of your choice and go flashoholic, use multirom or whatever you want.
Pheww. Thanks.
Man, Finally the SystemRoot (V4A, MultiROM etc) as we discussed a couple of weeks back with this hassle at the Mega Unbrick and Decrypt guides threads...:highfive:
I saw your post on MultiROM but maybe it got moved I guess...
So are you able to cross flash anything now ?
thanks.

anything... even multirom works flawless.
I will give this a try, Or will try to Flash the EX then perform parts of this since they support Kexec, to see what works, I have data and lot of apps working them again is a real pita with my schedule...
Thanks but, this is basically what i have done to decrypt my op3, i just used the CypherOs ROM instead OxygenOs, fastboot format userdata, reboot to recovery, flash rom, flash elementalx, and i didnt flash Supersu(dont know if thats causing my problem, i dont think so), i also did fastboot format userdata without being stuck at boot logo and still no 32gb, dont know whats the problem

Yes you can but you will be encrypted again. so after msm method reboot fastboot and flash modded twrp. reboot recovery flash CB or OOS. flash supersu flash kernel. Agin flash twrp.img from recovery itself and reboot recovery. After that reboot system and you are good to go. Make sure you have enough system space before flashing supersu and kernel. frow twrp file manager delete unneeded system apps 1st. DO NOT REBOOT in between.

[Recovery][17.02.2017][3.0.3] Unofficial TWRP for the Huawei Nova (hwcan)

TeamWin Recovery Project 3.0.3
WARNING #1: Unlocking BL and flashing a custom recovery voids your warranty. Please make sure to contact your carrier/seller if your phone is still under warranty after unlocking the bootloader.
WARNING #2: Make sure you have enabled OEM unlock and unlocked bootloader before trying to flash this. How you can successful root and install TWRP will be described below.
WHAT IS TWRP?
Oh come on, you know what it is - don't try to fool me!
In case you're serious, though...
Team Win Recovery Project is a custom recovery for Android devices.
It allows you to back up and restore your data, flash custom ROMs to your device, repair broken file systems, and root your device.
HOW-TO UNLOCK BOOTLOADER
Get bootloader Unlock code here (for more Information look in this thread)
Install minimal adb and fastboot
Plug in your phone and make sure all huawei drivers got installed
Enable developer options in settings as described above.
Enable OEM unlock, enable USB debugging (both in developer options)
Open the adb tool you installed recently
Type fastboot devices (now a device number should show up)
Type fastboot reboot-bootloader (your phone will now boot into bootloader, if not, you haven't set up drivers or adb/fastboot correctly)
This step will wipe all your data! Type:
Code:
fastboot oem unlock xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
(xx is for your unlock code)
Ones it's done type:
Code:
fastboot reboot
Your phone will reboot and you have an unlocked bootloader!
You can now go on installing TWRP on your device
HOW-TO INSTALL
Make sure you enabled OEM unlock in settings, if you haven't please do that now by tipping 10 times on build number (to activate developer options), than open developer options and go to OEM unlock, enable it
Have an unlocked bootloader is required! (In my case, I called huawei and received the unlock code 12 hours later)
Download the TWRP recovery from the download section below
Make sure you got fastboot drivers installed (I will describe this below in how to unlock your bootloader)
Open the adb/fastboot application on your pc and go to the directory where your TWRP img file is downloaded
Boot your phone into download mode (First method: fastboot reboot-bootloader while connected to pc. Second method: power off your phone, hit power on and volume down until it boots to download mode)
Check again if there is written: unlocked phone!
If yes type now into your adb/fastboot terminal:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp_huawei_generic_a53_YYYYMMDD.img
Type:
Code:
fastboot reboot
Now boot into recovery by pressing: power+volume up+volume down at the same time
Enjoy twrp
HOW-TO ROOT
Backup, just in case
Have an unlocked bootloader and TWRP installed from above (take one from december)
We will use this root method: Phh's superuser
Download latest official phh superuser zip here.
Put the zip on your external sd card of your phone (since we can't access /data in twrp)
Boot into twrp and flash the downloaded file
Install latest Material phh apk: Release post
Now you are rooted, congrats!

Cheers xelfmade! Just wanted to ask if this is specifically for the nova or the nova plus? Or is it compatible with both models? Thanks!
Can we backup all partitions and restore them (with decrypted data off course)?
And does knock on screen to take screenshot work? Someone told it don't work anymore after root?

Not now, I'll upload a newer version were you can backup and restore all partitions..
I'm rooted and it just works. I think it's because he formatted /data for decrypt it.
good morning...can I also use SuperSU. Coz I would prefer that over Phh's superuser.
I assume that it won't make a difference, but I want to be sure!

What should I try first to don't get this problems? Don't touch data while installing twrp and phhs su?
I'm on can-11 and believe my data is encrypted from original rom?!
And did you edit the config file in superuser. zip?
The linked one has following setting :
eng verity crypt
I cant access data or anything else in TWRP... I dont have an sd-card yet. is there no other way to install the superuser zip??

So if we don't wipe the data partition we could read it like before after root? And is the data encrypted afterwards?

If u use the latest version, try the following steps:

my Knowledge: backup TA -> unlock bootloader -> flash this kernel -> flash recover -> flash SuperSU -> done??
after that, if i want to roll back to stock, i must do that: push TA back to phone by recovery -> reflash stock rom by flashtool.??
is this right?
and one more question : is this kernel use for stock rom and all thing will work fine??

Are you on FW41 (android 7.1.1)?
If "YES" you must downgrade to MM rom and not patched "dirty-cow" vulnerable for backup TA partition (if you don't backed up later. If you have ta backup skip this step)
Then update to N 7.1.1
After update to 7.1.1:
1- unlock bootloader (backup data and internal sd, device wiped all data!)
2- go to "fastboot mode" (power off phone, when hold volume up plug your phone to pc, blue light led must be on)
3- flash that image for drm-fix and disable dm-verify with this code
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
4- reboot phone complete
Code:
fastboot reboot
5- again power off and go to fastboot mode. And flash recovery now:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp-***-kagura.img
fastboot reboot
6- now go to recovery and install supersu zip package.
If you want go to complete stock you need TA.img (save that several place in your PC and better save on cloud storage like google drive)
If you need, flash TA.img and flash FTF stock rom and phone back to theirs factory state.
** and for knowledge: this is not custom kernel!!!
This is custom boot.img. The kernel inside that file is completely stock. Only "ramdisk" patched for allow you to root your device and fix drm.

TWRP not decrypting my data

I used fastboot to flash twrp-3.5.0_9-0-raphael.img. I used TWRP make a full backup to internal memory. Then I flashed xiaomi.eu_multi_HMK20ProMI9TPro_21.2.24_v12-11.zip which didn't work. So back to fastboot->TWRP to restore backup.
But it doesn't ask for my pattern anymore! All my files remain encrypted. Command line adb shell twrp decrypt fails too.
Is there a special TWRP version that can help me out? Or is it game over?

Question Flash ROM error, NO OS and System is unable to mount - Mi 10i

I need support to flash ROM to my Mi 10i. One day all of a sudden my phone restarted in boot loop. Then I went to twrp recovery to save my data as it wasn't backed up, I messed it up and lost all my data(including my daughter's pics I didn't backed it up). Then I downloaded the recovery image and flashed it didn't get flashed(Error: twrp unable to mount /system /vendor) then I tried flashboot downloading the image but it flashed successfully but after reboot, it went again to boot loop. What to do now

Then I downloaded the recovery image and flashed it didn't get flashed(Error: twrp unable to mount /system /vendor) then I tried flashboot downloading the image but it flashed successfully but after reboot, it went again to boot loop. What to do now

I'm talking to you about Miflash and you're talking to me about TWRP.
So post the Miflash log.

I tried all possibilities and flashed Stock ROM both in Fastboot and Recovery mode but no luck, even tried old stock ROM as well. Finally, after researching I think Encryption is the whole culprit for this boot loop.
How to decrypt? error is " unable to decrypt FBE device"
I tried below 2 steps to decrypt, but no luck again boot loop ....any suggestions?
1. Formatting Data by typing "yes"
2. Formatting data partition from f2fs to ext4

This is not the MIflash log, the logs are in the log folder, the most recent log having the largest size.
And you did not read the tutorial correctly, you must rename the zip from the TGZ to v1306In for example.
You are using an older version of Miflash.https://xiaomiflashtool.com/
Lastest TWRP

ok i will use latest version, pls see the log
