Huawei P20 Pro - 4k Footage with software stabilization (video included) - Huawei P20 Pro Questions & Answers

Hi Guys,
Just thought I share with you footage of some software stabilization of some 4k footage from my P20 Pro.
We all know that the stabilization on 4K mode is non existent (not even EIS) but adobe premiere can work wonders
Remember to set quality to 4K within YouTube
Let me know what you think

That works pretty well. Some odd effects from the software though, made it look like things were made of jelly when the camera moved.

Yes - Slightly
Might try to dial it down a small amount and then seeing the result

Hello,
I'm using Google Photo to stabilize my 4k video, and it works pretty well!
Could you do a test to compare the results?
Open your original video with Google Photos, then go to setting, "Stabilize" and save.
Thanks.

Will do a comparison over the weekend to see the difference.

If you use opencamera or ultracorder (hevc) at 3k resolution (3264x1840) then EIS works nicely, looks really smooth. Admitedly it's not 4k, but its still much better than 1080p. I'm currently using ultracorder at 36.7mbit maintier level6.2 with EIS enabled and it really does look nice.

Can you share your Ultracorder settings mate? It's crashing on mine. Cheers!

I think the best option right now

Sohail, have you compared google photos stabilisation with Premier?

After experimenting for a while with ultracorder I can get 3k to work fine as soon as I try EIS it crashes and I have to restart phone. Very interested to know what settings the guy who recommended the app is using?

I already compare for LG Camera and default LG Camera. And result is LGCamera from Russian is better for Video with format file is MP4 and for Picture is better too.
i Tried lg camera. The quality was same as defoult eclair. This is my solution: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=806581

Not same. in default Eclair, you cannot setting to highest resolution.
In modif Camera, you got setting until 5MP, Resolution up to 1280*720, you got convert to MPEG4 and H.264 format. I think this app is better.
Even if i changed settings ib lgcanera it only was changing resolution, but not the bitrate, thus making video recordings with high res, but low quality
EDIT: yeah, seems like i was trying old version of lgcamera, this version you have posted works fine and im starting to like it.
Me too

Sorry for the noobie question in advance
Do you have to uninstall the 2.1 Camera app before installing this one?
The reason i ask is is this app would crash when i tried to take a picture
Rooted 2.1
Use this app for filming, not for picture taking, defoult app makes pictures very well.

Great camera application for Optimus 4X

Camera JB+
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.moblynx.camerajbplus
After installing JB, video recording of LG Camera started producing videos with distorted images because of over compressing even with full HD.
I've recently found this application which is an advanced version of Google JB Stock Camera application and it works without any problems with 4X and produces better quality videos (the file size is doubled but the videos look much better.)
I recommend this application to every 4X user.

LG Camera is better but has a serious flaw in video recording. It uses a low video bitrate so videos look distorted.
This application uses a higher bitrate and recorded videos look much better than LG Camera. The cost of this is doubled file size.

I've been using LG camera pro for some time now and it works very well. No more focus issues for me at least.
It's missing a few functions like panorama shots and HDR, though filming is fine (i can set up bitrate to 100Mbits?).
If there's enough light. But I've got to say, this camera is much worse compared to One X. Esspecially in low light. Unless i'm missing something in settings, i always get grainy footage, while x ones is smooth and clear.

Thanks. I never fail to be amazed by how many people on here have bought devices worth hundreds of dollars, yet constantly refuse to spend a couple of dollars on an application to make it work better.
It's like buying a $2000 PC and refusing to purchase any software to run on it, or buying a $50k car and refusing to buy petrol.
I have tested this app in zaiben rom and it works. Videos are brighter and better in temrs of quality. The only bad thing is that the files are .3gp, like videos recorded in old phones.

I have had problems with 3rd party camera apps in CM10.1 such as ProCapture or Camera 360. Lots of nice options, but when taking a flash picture, it focuses, then takes several seconds then takes a shot almost by surprise. Can you confirm this app does not suffer from this problem?

3gp is just a container like mkv. The two applications both use the same h264 codec for video.

It captures photos with flash instantly on stock LG ROM and it has the cleanest user interface and options when compared to the applications you've listed.
Since the application does not have a trial version, you can use Google search to find the apk to try on CM 10.1.

You can't just rename one extension into another - even though those extensions are different in many ways. My opinion would be to use another camera which saves to avi or mkv files
I made more tests with flash and noticed that it lags when you touch the picture to change the auto focus point and then click the capture button.
It takes pictures instantly with flash if you just click the capture button without changing the focus point.

Could someone post the camera apk from KitKat?

I'm very disappointed with the resolution of the default camera. The images are not sharp, and absolutely terrible in low light. I'm surprised Samsung is getting away with this.

The OG Note has a much better camera with default settings, in my opinion. What main settings get you good pics on the Note 3?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using xda app-developers app
Highest quality, image stabilization on, auto mode. Just play with it, it has iso and exposure settings too. I have taken some really sweet long exposure shots with it propped up on a rock that look like they've been taken with slow exposure film.
Ever tried Camera Zoom FX?

I'm REALLY fond of it. For me I had a lot of issues with the default Note 3 camera app. Forcecloses, videos that randomly kept the torch on until I rebooted... Camera Zoom FX makes it a lot easier to make great use of the Note 3 camera hardware.

Mine goes to 12.8MP (4128x3096). I did notice it didn't do 4k video recording, but I can't find any third-party apps that do that. Does it maybe vary device to device? Might be worth trying out... I know the max MP stated for the Note 3 is 13 but for all I know that's an averages thing. I don't mind losing 0.2MP, since for all I know the full 13 is like I said just raising up.

[Q] Slow motion video

What specs does the N6 offer in turns of slow motion video capturing?
Bump. I have the same question. Seems that none of the reviews explored the camera settings. Any update on this?
Everything I have seen has said that it takes video at 30fps
As far as I know, slow motion requires more frames per second. So I'm thinking that's a no on slow-mo. I could be wrong though.
The only spec i see is 4k @30fps.
I hope the stock camera app will allow for 1080P or 720P at either 60, 120, or 240fps. This is really a make or break decision for me, but seeing as though there are no frame rate specs for the other resolutions yet I will probably just have to buy it and see. I'm sure the devs will have at it if it does not come factory, although I hope it comes stock.
I found this quote at techtimes.com, If true I hope for at least 720p @60fps+
"The Google Nexus 6 uses a 13-megapixel rear camera with OIS (opitcal image stabilization), dual-LED flash, autofocus, 4K video recording @ 30 fps, 1080p video @ 30 fps, and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera."

Agreed. Since the api allows for developers to gain access to it like never before I'm sure it's only a matter of time before we see it. If I'm not mistaken the one plus one phone has slowmo recording and it uses the same camera. It's just something that needs to be implemented in the software.

Even the reviewers in many of the reviews that came out yesterday seemed surprised at how basic the camera app on the N6 is. RAW capture is the big new thing with L but the camera app doesn't capture it. Either Google has a big update in store or developers will find their own way. There have already been numerous example improvements shown with lcamera.
Anyone with a device in hand yet try any 3rd party camera apps?
You have to remember the guy who posted about the api'$ and taking raw pics it was with nexus 5 and a camera app he wrote ... won't be long b
efore some apps have it though i am sure
Here is his git hub so his camera can be used
https://github.com/PkmX/lcamera/
Here is the write up
http://www.androidauthority.com/nexus-5-lollipop-camera-api-samples-540858/
since it has the same camera as the one plus, would installing the camera apk from it possibly bring slowmo recording or will it have to be written into the frame working?

Double Bump. The answer to this question is what will decide whether I buy a nexus 6 or a note 4.
---------- Post added at 10:10 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:36 PM ----------
Can someone with a nexus 6 try the app 'Open Camera' by Mark Harman (hopefully not the actor ) and hit the settings (gear) icon, Photo and video settings, Video frame rate, change it to 60 or 120 and then record a video. In theory this should bump the video up to a higher frame rate and then playback should be slow motion. Just a guess here but it is worth a try. Also I doubt this app is using the new 5.0 APIs so it may not be a true test.
Edit: better yet try this app that is designed for the 5.0 API. https://github.com/PkmX/lcamera

Cool suggestion; just tried the Open Camera app and video recorded at 720p with 120 FPS enabled but the playback appeared normal on device. I'm going to try and run the video on my PC and see if I can find if it actually recorded in 120. I'll also try that other app and get back to you.

Cool! Keep me informed.
I tried the open camera as well as that L camera, I was able to change the framerate in the settings but it still records at 30 fps so no luck there sadly! I really hope we can get a slow motion app working someday, it's an awesome tool from time to time.

Video quality

Your friends are never going to believe what you did. The only way to prove it to them is with that video you took. Rate this thread to express how videos shot on the Google Pixel 2 come out. A higher rating indicates that videos are smooth (and not choppy) and that auto-focus works very well, and that the camera adjusts quickly to different lighting conditions while recording.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
I am particularly interested in low-light videos of both devices and the audio quality. From a few samples i could check on YouTube i suspect problems with the noise suppression at least on the XL. Yes. Cinema 4k for me is the best. Open camera is also good but has no noise reduction. Cinema 4k has really good noise reduction. Filmic pro isnt worth it for me. The quality is just mush compared to what you get on Cinema 4k no matter what color profile or bitrate you use.

Thank you for the continued advice.
Vietnam looks amazing def on my list
I love this, auto focus works good.
Its quality too.
I recently test my new Pixel 2 , with Filmic pro, and the OIS works excellent, the zoom is very soft and accurate, also works the mic gain slider, and all the features of the app.
For record videos in a concert, Filmic pro is the best, you can monitor the mic gain, and control it with the slider.
Video of Pixel 2, is a great upgrade from Nexus 6p.
