How do I get an app like Animated Navbar keep running in the background?

Go to Settings -> Battery -> App Launch and search for the App. Set it to manuelly and allow it to keep running in the Background.

Thanks but I already tried that but it still close it

The memory management on this phone is hyper aggressive and causes problems with lots of apps, even when they're whitelisted. No solution until someone makes a custom kernel, AFAIK.

Try this:
Settings
Apps & Notifications
Apps
Settings (down to left)
Special access
Ignore battery optimization
(Choose)All apps
Tap on app of your choice:
(Choose) Allow

Thanks guys. It's working now after firmware update to 120 (C432)

[Q] Can I put settings buttons directly on my homescreen?

So far I've found myself using two settings very often,
settings -> about phone -> battery use
settings -> applications -> manage applications
I'd like these to be buttons on my homescreen if that is possible.
Is that possible?
Does the fact that I'm using syndicate rom 1.1.0 and launcher pro plus change the answer at all?

Most stock roms will pull task manager up if you long press the home key. As for battery use, well settings is on your left soft key, that's as good as it gets

Sorry, somehow I put this in s-9000's forum instead of epic 4g.
For application manager I meant, at least for the epic, the stock location that can be used to install and uninstall programs.
You can use launcher pro for this purpose I believe.
Long press on desktop -> Actions (or something similar, don't remember) -> Find the battery info text
Yeah actions should do the trick. Takes a while to locate what you want though.

Anyone else missing gmail notifications unless screen is on?

I have no power saving settings on like aggressive doze or close high powered apps.
Ill just let my 3T's screen turn off and send an email to my gmail account from my work email. I will not get a notification unless I turn on the screen.
Yes, I have this issue only with Gmail, Oxygen 4.0.2.
Same here.
It happens with WhatsApp as well but I hadn't had time to troubleshoot it.

Gmail/Inbox use normal priority notifications as opposed to high priority, therefore will never bypass Doze. For some odd reason however, selecting Do Not Optimize makes no difference. This issue is not specific to the 3T.
I have noticed this too with whatsapp i can't remember if it started happening on 4.0.2 or when i flashed a different kernel, probably 4.0.2 related
I have exactly the same issue ... mostly with gmail and possibly with other apps like Whatsapp (I need to use my phone more to be sure) but surely and deeply with gmail.
Sometimes I receive push notifications on my OnePlus3T (running OOS 4.0.2 and unrooted) flawlessly, sometimes it takes a delay from one minutes to several, sometimes I need to wake up my phone (with the Jedi move of waving my hand over the proximity sensor) and sometimes I need to open the gmail app and force the update with a slide.
I think I also notice a random delay for the notification even if the screen is on and the phone in use, which seems to exculpate the doze mode but I'm not 100% sure and it is much more rare.
This is really annoying to me as I didn't have this issue with my old Nexus 5 and which I don't have on my work iPhone. I try to convince myself that it is not a big deal but it's not easy ^^.
I tried to contact Google on this but they weren't helpful on that matter.

There a 120 pages post on the OnePlus forum about this issue on the OnePlus 3, even before OOS 4.
Can you tell me where is the "Do Not Optimize" option you're talking about (despite it is not working, strangely) thanks !
if you are ready to sacrifice a little bit of battery life, you can turn off Doze. You would need to do that in 2 places.
1. Settings -> Battery -> Three dots top right -> Aggressive doze and app hibernation -> Turn off
2. Settings -> About Phone -> Keep taping Build Number until phone marks you as a developer -> Go back one screen -> Developer Options -> Doze mode -> Turn off
I hope this helps.

Thanks for the tip.
I will give it a try but read on the OnePlus forum that it was not really a game changer.
I hope people working on Android know about this "feature" and will correct it soon if it has an impact on all Android N users !
I have that same issue.
Everything was working for me perfectly then all of sudden. Notification for Gmail Google plus and WhatsApp stops working no matter I am on mobile network or WiFi.
It work only when I open the app
I am on RR Rom
The easiest fix I found for my work email (Nine), which wasn't getting timely push notifications... was to just turn off battery optimization for this app. That made it perfect and instant notifications again. Presumably it uses more battery in this mode, but I still need it.

How exactly does one turn off optimization? I can't find that option. Thanks

It's kindof hidden:
Go to Settings-> Battery-> 3 dots in upper right
Then in Battery Optimization section, select 'All apps' from the pulldown selector at top.
Then find your app and change it to 'not optimized'

I dont find Gmail in the listed app?
In the Battery Menu/3 dots I don't have a Battery Optimisation Section but 2 settings (with my own translation from French to English, sorry about that) :
- apps hibernation & doze
- greedy application management
In the first option, there's a selector to activate or not the Apps hibernation & aggressive doze --> I disabled the option (and one can choose the app to optimize or not, but gmail is not on the list)
In the second option, I have a selector to allow to shutdown automatically "greedy" apps --> I disabled the option
However, in the Applications menu, while choosing the wheel then the Special Access Menu, there's an option for "Battery Optimisation" in which one can choose - one by one - the Apps that are optimised or not.
Anyway, for me, disabling the Doze mode in the Developper options seems to solve the problem with Gmail but i still have issues with delayed/lost notifications for other Apps (Twitter, Le Monde, ...).
And I'm running 4.0.3

That's weird, I do have Gmail listed in mine. Make sure you set it to show all apps.
Also, I haven't done anything unusual with Gmail, like converted it to a system app, for example. It was flashed as part of Gapps Micro.
FI, just posted a bug report on that issue : https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/random-delay-with-push-notificatio-ns.500958/

App needed you can't totally hide it smart guy..
On P10 with Oreo you can hide it..
Go to settings, apps..
Activate system settings and go to Android System.
There you select Notifications and activate or deactivate what you want.

On Mate 10 / 10 Pro this method doesn't work. Only with - Hide "running in the background" Notification - you can do it.

Hi. How do you get rid of the notification when you clear out recents. It says "Your device is now in optimal condition" Very annoying! It will be closer to optimal condition once I get rid of that notification!

Honestly, I don't know why this notification is so annoying.
Anyway don't focus on optimal condition... It's something to do 1 time a week max

Question Task Changer/Manager Alternatives?

Coming from Oxygen, there's still a lot of visual stuff I dislike about One UI, though I will say, it's FAR better than the last Samsung I used which ran TouchWiz.
Running Nova and Theme Park to get things looking/running the way I generally prefer.
The one last piece that I really dislike but can't find a complete solution for is the Task Manager. I have Home Up running, but the part that annoys me is the Recent App shortcuts. They appear to be randomly generated, and the icons are horrific and cartoony. I just don't like it.
Is there an alternative or way to just turn the recent app shortcuts off? Screenshot attached for clarity.
Home up, task changer, disable "hide search bar"
Enter recents, three dots menu in search bar, settings, disable "show recommended apps"
Now you can hide search bar again

I actually discovered that RIGHT as I got a notification of your reply.
Big thanks for chiming in.
While I still generally think One UI < Oxygen, with enough tweaks, I can deal.
Question for you OP. How'd you get home up working while using Nova. None of the settings seem to stick when changing task manager using goodlock homeup when move is set to default.

there is a recent update to One UI Home that fixed that issue for me with lawnchair.
if youre not getting it through samsung, you can sideload it from here: https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/samsu...rience-home-touchwiz-home-12-1-05-11-release/
you also may or may not have to update home up.

Thanks that worked! Looking clean now. I also hated the suggested apps at the bottom. I use a higher dpi and that was not affected by the dpi change. So it looked even worse on my phone. They looked huge compared to everything else.

Hi there
I was wondering if there is any way to apply the new homeup with the task changer on one ui 2.5 or any other good lock plugins for that matter
Samsung is only updating them for android 11 and was really hoping to get them on my phone
BTW I have a note 9 so no updates for me

Question [Origin OS Ocean] How to get push notification from various apps (like social and messaging)

Like the title say, I'm in trouble getting the notification of any app I install : I disabled vivo.pem as suggested in one other thread and allow notofication per single app (that were turned off before) and last disabled the background battery optimization for those apps.
No luck after all, as nothing show up when I send whatsapp mess e.g.
Any ideas?

I had to use the uninstall command on vivo.pem to get my notifications to work, disable didn't help me on the latest firmware.
Also, check the app permissions, hold down app, info, app permissions.
Turn off (remove permissions if app isn't used)
Single permission settings (turn all on the switches), you can also review permissions
Go back 2 screens and select notifications, select all sliders and then check your desired app notification is going out via priority display.
Finally go to settings, battery, background power consumption management, and change the setting for the app you want to not sleep by choosing high background power usage.
So annoying, I know, too many settings and easy to forget one
Good luck!

Thanks for the time spent in the long answer; however still no notifications on the tested app (whatsaap) with all the reccomended settings.
Is since 2015 I think that I don't have a chinese firmware phone and the things have changed, in fact, before, was enough to install play store and all the notification were received without further settings.

Hey Guys,
i also did every setting as told and my Notification for especially WhatsApp isn't working at all.
Sometimes it does, but then all of a sudden it just refreshes when I open the App itself.
I even put it down in the Bar with the 5 Main Apps, in hope those would be refreshed or kept alive in the Background.
Not sure anyway what you mean with uninstalling vivo.pem.
Suckz kind of, because apart from that it really is a great Phone... aside from Android Auto not working.

You have to plug in phone on computerand run ADB command to uninstall vivo.pem.
Vivo.pem is a system that aggressively shut down apps to save battery power, to much shut downs and notifications stop working.
Check the thread "Origin Os initail review" on here and you will find out how to do it. Takes only 10 minutes

After doing the uninstalling did it stop the issue?
I uninstalled, rather than disabled, their power saving vivo.pem, ensured all my apps had priority permissions for notifications, disabled battery saving, and added them to 'autostart' in their respective permissions, and I get proper notifications for all the social media and messaging apps. The only small glitch come with Google Messages which won't display notifications in system wide dark mode. You can get around that by enabling the 'chat bubbles' option in Google Messages settings as they do work in dark mode.
Notifications are not the only issue , i cannot select Mock gps location app in Developer Mode ...
I press on the app i want to use ,but nothing happend , the app is not selected .
Anyone noticed that too ?
Thanks
There is no need to uninstall vivo.pem, I think. Just some few steps:
1. Go to recent apps and lock it.
2. Settings -> Apps & permissions -> App manager -> WhatsApp -> Permissions -> Single permission settings -> Autostart and Startup enabled.
3. Settings -> Battery -> Background power consumption management -> WhatsApp -> Select high background power usage.
4. Settings -> Battery -> More settings -> Disable Sleep mode.
Works fine for me.
Do you use Whatssup? after the latest OS update it cannot connect to linked devices
