P20 Pro CLT-AL00 v 8.1.0.131 (C675) - Huawei P20 Pro Questions & Answers

Hi all...
I just got the p20 pro. While searching the forum I saw discussions on firmware upto 8.1.0.120 (germany)...
I saw no discussions regarding the firmware 8.1.0.131 which i got out of the box.
There's no thread for CLT-AL00 Model as well.
Please help me with a method to root this model. I'm from India

On FirmwareFinder, the last firmware version for the CLT-AL00 is 8.1.0.1.109 (05/16), so you're very lucky to have this one.
Where are you from ?

From India... Haven't Nobody else received 8.1.0.131? How do i root it?

It seems that the 131 firmware is an older version coz i cannot find the improvements that's present in 120... Any way to flash 120 in my clt-al00 model?

Can you please extract your firmware and submit it to the forum so that it can be added to the list of official firmware? I'd like to try flashing 135 firmware as I'm not interested in staying on 120 and root.

Was your original model CLT-AL00 and region C675?

No. CLT-L29 C636

From where did you buy it? India models have c675.

I have the same one. Any chance you could help me out with manual firmware flashes?

Even I have CLT-AL00 8.1.0.131 (C675), as per customer care new version is under testing

Hi all, FYI
I've just get my CLT-AL00 chinese version, installed an update : 8.1.0.176 (C00)
I've also installed Google Play Store from an APK which works perfectly. I installed a keyboard normal which kicked out the chinese one. I've uninstalled any chinese apps.
The only (false) problem i have is that i don't know how or where to unlock the bootloader for rooting and kind.. I saw that it can be done with FunkyHuawei after paying 55$ i don't want to.
I really don't understand why to rebrand as google service and apps works perfectly

I think that one or two people tried flashing the oeminfo file in this topic ... http://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/development/c432-oeminfo-flash-twrp-t3384903 then flashed the stock rom mentioned here... http://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/development/stock-rom-dload-file-p9-eva-l09-b136-t3382818 to try and turn their phones into UK ones. I get the impression however that it didn't quite work. Better ask in the oeminfo topic

Cross flashing CLT-AL00 Model with CLT-L09 firmware

Is it possible to cross flash between different model types? My P20 pro model CLT-AL00 is nowhere been seen listed in any firmware downloading sites or app. Please help... appreciate any effort...
I'm download the the CLT-L04C from Firmware Finder now, it says my device AL00 is not approve for but I'm still gonna try flash it, I'll let you know if I got it work, really hard for us ppl who bought P20 Pro from other countries and try to use it in North America.
Did you have any luck with this? I've got a 256GB mem, 8GB ram CLT-AL00 with C00 and wondering if it's possible to flash another device's firmware as I want to move off China firmware.
Bump! Did anyone figure this out?
You need to have your bootloader unlocked.

P20 Pro Firmware Variants

Can someone explain to me where the different P20 Pro variants are from? I'm not talking about the L29, L09 and so on, but about c432, c652 etc. From what I've read one the forums so far, I reckon the L-29, c432 version which I have is the "best", however I haven't received the 131 update yet (I'm on 120) and that kind of worries me. One last question: my P20 Pro is brand new and after I inserted my SIM card I got an update (obviously from my carrier) named DT. GRC 8.1.0.4 (CT) (my current last installed update is CLT-L29 8.1.0.120 (C432)). The changelog is "-Optimized network interworking - essential and recommended apps" I don't really want to install it because it will apparently install bloatware from my carrier, but I'm confused about the higher version number (8.1.0.4 vs. 8.1.0.120). How come it is higher? And if I do install it will I continue to receive c432 updates as they are released or will I have to wait for my carrier to roll them out?
There is no best variant. The version are devided by World regions. The 432 is the European one. As for the update you got its from your network provider. I got it to too (DT. GRC 8.1.0.4 LT) but after I have received the. 128 version.

I don‘t think .131 is officially out yet. I have not seen an official changelog so far and most people that have it seen to have flashed it manually. so relax, it will come when it‘s ready.

So I have to install this update before I am able to install 1.28? I also thought about it before but I was hesitant to do it as the update from my carrier has (C150) at the end which probably means that after I install it my phone will change to C150 from C432 and I don't know the consequenses of that (my main fear is that then my carrier would have to approve updates before I receive them which would delay them even further). But if it is the only way I can be able to install 1.28 and any later update then I guess I'll do it.
P.S. I said C432 is the "best" because I see that anyone who wants to rebrand does so to the C432 variant so I reckon there are some advantages to it (like receiving updates quicker maybe?)
C432 it's the most common version around the globe. In order for an update to be compatible with your phone, should read c432. You can't install other than 432.

But I literally have it resumed right now because I accidentally began the download. I mean how would I even get it on my phone as an OTA if it wasn't compatible? My question is, after i install it will my firmware change from a free one to a branded one?
*EDIT*: I found the below really helpful article which I thankfully understood thanks to my knowledge of German. To sum it up, it basically says that it is natural for P20 Pro users to get an update from their carrier as soon as they insert a SIM card on their phone. It may appear to be a different firmware version (like in my case which was C150), however the update will only install a couple of apps from your carrier (which you are going to be able to uninstall anyway) and that it won't interfere neither with how quick and the way you receive updates nor your device's firmware variant. Here is the link to the article: https://www.android-hilfe.de/forum/huawei-p20-pro.3297/faq-branding-beim-huawei-p20-pro.876843.html
I think it should be pinned somewhere as I believe it would help more people because I've seen plenty others wondering the same thing
Can confirm that right after I installed the carrier update, version 128 was made available to download and the phone remained as C432. Problem solved, thanks Android-Hilfe.
In my case I receive the 128 first and after that the provider update. Now I'm waiting for the 131 or 132 update that's being released for c432.

NO one can help you, m8! Search @ this forum and see how users got softbricked demo units for the last year!
There's no dload firmware for DEMO units since EMUI 9.1. ON EMUI 9.1 demo units users flashed VOG-L29 C431 dload firmware and that's how they update device. On EMUI 10 things got different when updating and everytime you choose to update with various dload firmwares or methods, you end up with a softbricked device. READ from this thread - https://forum.xda-developers.com/hu...to-flash-approved-fullota-zip-t4112775/page99
Huawei isn't supporting anymore those devices because they are not sold as retail one, those are intended to be displayed on retail stores, for demo.

You would need an unlocked bootloader ? for that (which isn't possible because Huawei isn't giving them anymore) & it would require a rebrand to your phone. But without unlock bootloader code there is no root, no rebrand....
If you will flash & succseed any dload firmware for C431 you will get softbricked & untill now, there's no way to revive device.
My advice is to use it as is, with EMUI 9.1 on-board. Or sell it and buy a retail unit, that's way better than having a brick - in case you still go & flash EMUI 10/EMUI 10.1 on it -or staying on EMUI 9.1 ?

I need a rom for P30 PRO HW-l02 (Docomo)

Hi everyone,
I bought a p30 pro hw-l02 docomo (JP version) but It has the global firmware installed (VOG-L29) , I'm kindly asking if anyone can share/upload the vog-l0j firmware because I can't find it anywhere on the web. Thanks in advance !
PS: I found paid sites but I can't afford the price
I don't believe you can crossflash firmwares on the Huawei P30; I've tried on my C69 TelCel Huawei device but I can't seem to get it working even with HiSuite Proxy.
