Just got my unlock code. A pity, though, the bootloader unlock application will only be available to products launched prior to the announcement date [24 May 2018], then 60 days after the service will be stopped. Read from here for more info.
This will probably be my last Huawei phone.

Although, the option to use i.e. dc-unlocker will still be there. Still, it sucks.

Can we still unlock the bootloader on the Honor 9 lite?

Hey all,
So I've heard that Huawei has stopped giving out unlock codes? I tried to go to their website to apply for it (giving my IMEI etc) and instead of giving me a code it just says 'please contact Huawei for questions'
I'm trying to set up project treble with it if I can figure it out.
Thanks!
You can with dc unlocker. You Just need to pay 5 euros and they Will unlock boatloader
I got my code on 08/06/2018
In the morning at 7:05 AM IST on 08/06/2018 i applied for my bootloader unlock code and i got it easily. BTW did you cross check other pre-selected options? Like 1st one asking EMUI version? Maybe that's the reason of you not getting unlock code.
Try again or Use the mailing method(I don't know much about but you have to mail the support to obtain the unlocking code and it might take upto 2-3 days)
Just got my code for bootloader unlock directly from Huawei no issues, although i will not be using straight away i have kept it in a safe place.

I tried through their portal, and via email. This was their response:
We do apologize for the inconvenience you are experiencing, however, it is our duty to inform you that Huawei Canada does not provide codes to unlock the bootloader, root the device or provides any tool/code to modify the phone internally. We kindly inform you that this action can potentially "brick" the phone or in other words, renders the phone completely unusable and voids the warranty service and device support. We have no control over how unlocking the bootloader or rooting the phone, will affect your device.
We understand that you might be able to start the request to get the bootloader unlock code from our EMUI website, regrettably, your device does not qualify to receive this code, since the Huawei Canada warranty policy limits us to do not provide this code in order to prevent future inconveniences to our consumers.
This bootloader unlocks code, it is just limited to be available for certain specific regions.
We are aware that you can find unofficial information over the internet, about how to root or unlock your phone and due to our Security and Privacy Policies, we cannot provide you these codes or tools, for that reason, we cannot assist you in that matter.
We highly recommend you refrain from taking these actions on your device.

I read the instructions for unlock of Huawei mobile, it requires you erase the Huawei id.
How does that affect warranty?
Can you reapply the old id if necessary?

No, you can't. DC-Unlocker neither autodetects the phone nor is it in the manual selection list. Also https://www.dc-unlocker.com/supported_models_1/huawei_phones says no bootloader unlocking service for said phone.
On the other hand Huawei support gave me this reply (translated by me) :
Hello [censored],
sadly the bootloader unlock code service has been terminated completely. I'm really sorry but I can't help you.
Best wishes,

Not true !
https://hcu-client.com/supported-models.php
HCU will read the bootloader code easily (at a price) :-

Read instructions carefully and follow them EXACTLY !
HCU is from the same stable as DC-Unlocker.

Thanks for this, it appears to be the only bootloader unlock method currently available. Have you actually done this yourself? Can you (or anyone else) confirm that it works?
By the "instructions", I assume you mean the tutorial at http://hcu-client.com/read-bootloader-code-huawei-phone/. They seem clear, but they don't tell you how to actually use the code to unlock the bootloader! Can someone please point me to instructions how to do that? Thank you.

Yep, I mean the tutorial.
I have used this method a good few times, all successfully .
Dc-Unlocker/HCU allows direct unlock on a lot of models and gives the unlock code on others.
To use this code, put phone in "fastboot" mode and issue the command :-
fastboot oem unlock code
Phone should factory re-set (erasing all user data) with an unlocked bootloader.

I can confirm. There's just one thing to note: Deinstall the adb drivers from Microsoft and use the ones shipped with HiSuite. Else there will be no virtual COM port and as a result the tool won't find the phone. [EDIT]And don't try to use the tool in a VM. Sadly it refuses to work there.[/EDIT]
Can someone please point me to instructions how to do that?

1) Enable Settings > Developer Options > Enable OEM Unlock
2) Enable Settings > Developer Options > USB Debugging
3) Turn off phone
4) Press volume down key while connecting the phone to USB to boot the phone into fastboot
5) Execute "fastboot oem unlock <unlocking code>" on the PC the phone is connected to (install adb and fastboot first)
P.S. Many thanks to @Sparkrite for pointing us in the right direction!

Thank you so much. With this method I successfully unlocked the bootloader of my Huawei Honor 9 Lite. No problems, just one oddity – the HCU software warns you that reading the bootloader unlock code will wipe your phone, and you have to acknowledge that to continue. This, of course, is not the case: it is using the code to unlock the bootloader that causes the phone to do a low-level reset. Presumably a mistake in the wording.

I used HCU to read the bootloader unlock code before I saw your message, and so had not uninstalled the Microsoft ADB drivers. I had already installed HiSuite. It still worked for me, so presumably it is not necessary to uninstall the Microsoft ADB drivers unless HCU doesn't recognize the phone.

Any news?
Many thanks to those who contributed to this thread. I had no trouble unlocking the bootloader of my device using HCU after purchasing credit from DC-unlocker. At only 4 euros it was worth the money. The posted instructions were clear. Once HCU provided the code all I had to do was send it to the phone using fastboot..

Bootloader re-locked after OTA update

Hey, for a reasons I needed to do ota update (reflashed stock recovery[extracted from matching update] before doing so), now when im trying to reinstall TWRP i've noticed that my bootloader re-locked on its own.
Was this supposed to happen? iirc people keep telling you that you can't relock bootloader without it's backup from locked state.
It's quite annoying that it happen since I did pay for unlock via DC unlocker and now huawei stopped distributing unlock codes so I'll probably need to pay DC again.
Cheers!
edit: DC unlocker did not even allow me to Unlock bootloader, only thing i saw was Lock bootloader, but there was option to "Read bootloader code" (no credits needed) and I managed to unlock bootloader again using fastboot and this code

This is a flag in OTA update, it may be present or not (now seems to be always enforced, new Huawei policy) that OTA locks Bootloader
You cannot disable this flag in OTA package
Bootloader is not relocked but really locked (better for those who go to service under warranty)
Bootloader code is unique for your device.
No matter did you obtain it from Huawei or DC, you have TO KEEP it, you don't need to pay, read or ask again, just use the same bootloader code for the same phone for the lifetime of your phone

that's what I suspect, but sadly can't confirm or deny. I think I didn't even see the code itself when I used it for the first time due to the fact that unlock process was automatized within DC unlocker's client app, so all I had to do was to prepare the phone and press Unlock Bootloader within the client

I used DC client once (4 Euros), I obtained the code (saved it for future) and used in Fastboot to unlock Bootloader just like previously for the other Huawei phone whose code I obtained for free from Huawei (before they closed this service)

OEM Unlocking

Sorry if this is a repeat.
Has the opportunity for bootloader unlocker codes well and truly passed?
Is there anyway around this?
You can use paid services like Funkyhuawei or Ministry of Solutions.
I used Ministry of Solutions and the price is cheaper.
But it is not normal to pay to unlock bootloader, the key only Huawey can give it so these paid sites in my opinion is money going to Huawey.
I'll never pay anyone to unlock it, on principle not for money. For me it's a robbery that only Huawey can doI'll never pay anyone to unlock it, on principle not for money. For me it is a robbery that only Huawey can do.
Thanks for the link, how does paying for it work and how much roughly is it?
I've been in touch with ministry of services, they can no longer offer bootloader unlocks for the honor play, they've been caught so can't get them anymore, looks like I'll be returning the phone and getting a Nokia 7.1 instead at this rate!

Paid €30 (35$+) to Ministry of Solutions. After payment, you'll need to send your IMEI number and serial number. Then you wait for the bootloader code. That's all.

Does anyone know how the unlock codes are generated on their side?
No the option 4.99 doesn't work...

The code is for the bootloader. Not for the OS.
Bootloader code has nothing to do with the os.
Android 8 or 9 both works. The code only open the bootloader.... Sorry my. English is not so good.

Question T-Mobile 10 Pro BL unlocking

I just got the OP 10 Pro for my girl and I and I'm having some difficulty attempting to unlock the bootloader. Looks like it'll require an unlock token (bin) from OP like the previous models however on my OP 9 I didn't request an unlock token, I think maybe I flashed the global fw with MSM? I know this is a fairly new device and development is limited, but is there anything available at this time to magisk root my device? I still have my old rooted device for 2 weeks grace period before I have to return it for the trade-in.

With the T-Mobile variant you need the unlock.bin to unlock bootloader. OnePlus will eventually update their website, hopefully soon (I've already emailed their support to add it, doubt that will help though). The only other way would be using exploits which haven't been released yet. The good news is once OnePlus updates their site, you can easily request you're unlock.bin and once you get it via email it's super easy to unlock the bootloader.
Sounds like it's like their previous phones subsidized through TMO. Need to pop in a fastboot command on your phone, which will give you a string of code. Copy paste that code on Oneplus' web site once it's updated. From there, you'll need to wait 7 days almost to the minute before the page will display your unlock token, which will be in a .bin format. Fastboot flash that. Of course that'll wipe your phone completely, but your bootloader will be unlocked.

Yes, exactly same as previous T-Mobile OnePlus phones, except there's no need to be sim unlocked to enable oem unlocking on the 10 pro (pretty sure that was by mistake on OnePlus fault).

Wow. Really? So we don't have to make up an extravagant overseas-travel story to get T-mo to unlock? Niiiice.
Have said before, just avoid the US T-Mobile variant, unlocking is just the first of many issues if you're going down the unlocking/rooting path.
If it's your only way of getting the 10 pro then fair enough, but if it's not then choose the other path...whatever it is it has to be better.

Fair enough.
I personally live in the UK, so don't have any of these problems, but I've seen issues with people who've flashed a custom ROM and ended up without signal, data, texts, even WiFi, Devs tend not to get involved when asked what the problem may be. They end up frustrated and alone.
Couple that with waiting for 10 days to unlock it, I would stick with "if you have an alternative then go with that".
Whatever way you slice it it's a sub par experience compared to other options.
But hey if you're cool with it then that's your journey
Got my 10 pro unlocked on day one. One plus's site still doesn't support the 10 pro. So no unlock tokens for us yet.

For what it's worth, I just chatted with OnePlus and was told it would take 30-45 days for the unlock token page to be updated with the 10 Pro.
I strongly suspect this was little more than a guess, but I figured I'd relay it just in case.
