[Moto G6+]: Official ARCore support - Moto G6 Questions & Answers

Hi,
I confirm that the Moto G6+ has official support for ARCore:
https://developers.google.com/ar/discover/supported-devices
I installed it from the Play Store:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.ar.core
And then I have the option to install some AR enabled Apps, and they work.
(for example the IKEA Place: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.inter_ikea.place).

Moto G6 also added to the list of supported, but after installing ARCore from Google, no application does not want to work because it does not recognize any surface during configuration. And as I read on the Lenovo forum, nobody at moto g6 is working :/

Yesterday, I had it working on UK Moto G6 with Measure, ARuleR and IKEA Place. I only got to work a few times and I think I had to reboot the phone between it tries. Today after a reboot I've just got it to work in ARuleR and Measure.

Update:
I did the same, turned off the phone completely, waited for 2 minutes, turned on the phone and started working. It's strange but it's important that it works! Thanks

Motorola Connect Down?

I haven't been able to sign into Motorola Connect on my laptop pass couple of days, anyone else having connection issues?
Mine is down too. Seems to be stuck trying to sign back in.
Remove then re-add. This happens to me frequently (including today).
having the same issue here. removing and re-installing has yet to help.
i am stuck on the signing in page and it won't go any further. given that this seems to be effecting many i hope for a fix soon.
Removed extension, re-installed, even deleted chrome profile and made a new one, still won't connect.
Yeah ignore my previous post. I uninstalled and reinstalled twice and it started working again both times for a short period... but then it stopped working again, and I haven't gotten it to work since.
I have been trying it for hours now, no luck. Hopefully it's just down for maintenance, I have gotten very used to it.
i hope that this does not have something to do with moto being sold.
Does motorola lost device service work for you? For me it says to enable motorola In device managers.
Yeah it's not active after three days for me, I just reset the Motorola Connect client on phone and computer.

[Q] Tap & Go disabled for Moto G 2014?

I've got two Moto G 2014 phones, one of them being a new one I got a week ago. I'm in the UK and the 5.0.2 Lollipop OTA update arrived a couple of days ago. Today I updated both phones to Lollipop which worked perfectly.
Motorola Migrate only migrates the data, so I tried to use the new Tap & Go feature to migrate all my apps etc to the new phone, effectively to clone it, but Tap & Go seems to be missing. I don't get the option to pair the new phone with an existing phone at first boot after a factory reset and if I add my Google account, it goes through the normal setup wizard except that the Tap & Go setup part is missing from it.
I've spent a lot of time trying to get this to work this evening including the obligatory googling for it, but come up with nothing, including on XDA, therefore I hope someone here can confirm if Tap and Go has been disabled for this model and perhaps why. If it's actually supposed to work, then I'll be grateful for any troubleshooting tips to help make it work.
Tap & Go only works with NFC (Near Field Communication), for which our devices lack the chip.
And there's me thinking that NFC was a generic name for Bluetooth which works at short distances, lol.
Looking it up on Wikipedia, I can see that Bluetooth costs $5 for the tag (which we have) while NFC is a mere 10c and yet it doesn't have it. Shame, this important new feature could have easily been implemented to work over Wi-Fi and should have been, in my book.

Have you tried migrate?
Yes first thing I did with both phones on KitKat. It copied over all the data perfectly, but I did notice that there weren't any options to copy the apps, settings and screen configs. Hence I was disappointed, but not surprised when it didn't copy these things.
I then saw that Lollipop had this cloning function (Tap & Go) which was just what I wanted, got confused over the meaning of NFC, upgraded both phones to Lollipop and discovered that I couldn't use T&P. Very frustrating, especially as this functionality can easily be implemented over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. I'll bet when Lollipop was being developed, the beta testers suggested this functionality and were quite annoyed that this wasn't done when there's no technical reason for not doing so.

NFC while screen is off

I have a Moto X 2nd Gen running the latest Cyanogenmod 12 snapshot. I have a Dimple.io (NFC buttons), and would like to use it while the screen is off.
I have Xposed Framework and have installed NFC LockScreenOff Enabler, which worked great on my Nexus 5 running stock KitKat. I've tried adding the Dimple to Trusted Devices in Smart Lock. I have GravityBox and have read that it has this feature, but I can't find it in the settings so I assume they've removed it. I've also tried a regular NFC tag. I can't get anything to work.
Does the Moto X handle NFC differently from other devices, or has there been a change to android to make the Xposed module not work? Every forum post I've found just ends with install the Xposed module. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the reply. I have been able to use the Dimple and normal NFC tags with the phone unlocked, the issue I'm having is with using them while the screen is off and the phone is locked.
I've seen Moto Skip, my phone doesn't have it installed anymore, either because of the custom rom or they might have discontinued it for the 2014 X.
Some more info on the Dimple: It's permanently stuck to the phone, and it has 4 "buttons" on it. When you push them, they activate an nfc signal to communicate with the phone.

The skip won't work. It only worked with the moto x 2013. It does not work with the moto x 2014.

The nfc buttons can be programmed to do other things. Start apps, change configurations, etc. So even though we can't use nfc while locked it still serves a purpose.

Well, so far I have not had even a method that solves my problem , I'm trying in some way the flash unit , the most of such OEM options are disabled as well as USB Debugging, has some way to enable ADB or via fastboot via pc ?

No, it can't be done. You have to be able to get into the phone to turn on ADB.
There is no solution that you can do. You need to ask the previous owner to login then remove the account. You can't do anything yourself.

Question Android Wear OS

Can Wear OS run on the X Fold?
I have TAG connected watch and I read that it does not work with Chinese ROM
I have the TicWatch 3 PRO Ultra and although it was a pain in the ... to make it work, Managed it with both the Chinese and Play versions of the Wear OS app installed together. it is fiddly but eventually, it works. Also, I get all the notifications on the watch (even the ones that will not show up on the phone...

Tutorial unfortunately no as I did not follow any... First tried installing Wear OS from the Play store but it was not finishing the setup. Then I downloaded Wear OS from the Vivo store (the so-called Chinese version. This one does not have any Google Account integration) I gave all possible permissions to both of them (yes, they can be installed at the same time.) Then somehow the Play Store version worked and connected to the watch. I installed also the TicWatch App that is needed (in my case. Guess TAG has one too) and after some more fiddling with notification permissions, it just worked. I get all my notifications and everything seems to sync properly.
I hope that they will really release the phone in India next month, as usually, the Indian releases are Global ROMs with more compatibility with everything. Then we should be able to flash it on our devices...
I have my Galaxy Watch connected.
First loaded the Chinese Wear app, then the Galaxy Wear app.
BUT it won't stay connected. It's OK while the phone is open, but as soon as the phone logs off the Bluetooth disconnects.
I've given the Wear apps every possible permission and power settings but it just won't stay connected.
Just to update from my last post, I've decided to trade in my Galaxy Watch 3 for the new Watch 5. Will be interested to see if that makes any difference. Probably not
I have the same issue - cannot keep my galaxy watch connected (it's the 1st gen)
All is fine and after a while it just disconnects.
The galaxy Buds Live are fine and keep connected.
I'm using the Galaxy wearable app. (as these devices are not Wear OS i think)

No success with the Watch 5, as I reported in a separate thread. I'll wait for the Pixel Watch.
Got my Galaxy watch (1st gen i guess) successfully paired and it keeps connected. As long as the 2 devices are bound. (once disconnected i have to reconnect via the wear app - no big deal)
Thing is though - battery usage of the watch is through the roof. I hardly get a full day out of it.
Anyone know what might be causing this?

First gen Galaxy Watches did not have a very good battery life to begin with... 1.5 to 2 days at most with good use. Another thing is that the connection between the watch and the phone is not stable for some reason (probably due to the stupid Vivo battery optimizations or some Bluetooth issue)... For instance, my Ticwatch Pro 3 Ultra GPS (names those things) lasted about 3 days with my old Galaxy S21 Ultra but now I struggle to get 2 with the Vivo X Fold...
Which Watch work with X Fold ? It seems no one actually. i have 2/3 Xiaomi, nothing work and it's not Band !!
Samsung Watch 3 works. Samsung Watch 5 does not work.
I now have Huawei GT3 pro and it works perfectly. Does not use Wear. Great battery life, eight days so far !
I agree nt so bad... nothing better than others... But qualitative.

I have a Vivo X Note and also a TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra. Wear OS works well together with the Chinese version. The only and for me the biggest problem is that I cannot pay with a card via Google wallet from watch. When I open the apk and want to add a payment card, it says a connection error with my mobile phone, and on my X Note Wallet does not open through google play services, and I cannot add the card to the watch. I have no problem with paying on my mobile, Wallet works ok there. If I connect the watch to the Lenovo Yoga Tab tablet, Wear OS from the Google Play Store works there without any problems, and I also add all the cards to the Wallet in the watch. I read on the forums that the problem is with the new versions of the Google Play services and that it will help to downgrade the older version lower than 21.26.58. The problem is that when installing, the system gives an error and cannot be installed... So at the moment I have a working watch, but no payment, which is frustrating. Have you tried paying with your watch?

I will never work, as Android Auto, Google backup, Google Timeline and Ok Google activation.
Vivo doesn't use a full Google Play Service framework as they have Jovi application instead of Google one.

Does anyone manage to make the Remote Connection work? It's missing in the Galaxy Wear settings.
I'm guessing it's related to the Wear OS China version app.
