My P20 pro does not show notification light when receiving sms or email. Im using the apps outlook and textra. Notifications work, but not the light.
Notification light is enabled in settings.

Use the app Light manager (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koo.lightmanagerpro). I could only get it working with this app. Without it, the notification LED would work randomly with some apps, and with some it wouldn't.

I would really prefer stock management to work.

One of the better hardware implementations in Nexus One is the TB notifications. By the way I would like to upgrade manually mine to Gingerbread but I'm reading here and in some other forums that notifications are disabled for third party apps (I use ChompSMS, Whatsapp, and because of my work I usually have my phone silenced), so I just simply need those apps notificating me of new messages working through trackball color light.
SO, can anyone tell me if this is just an initial problem, has it been corrected?, any information will be very appreciated.

At this very moment, stock GB wont support them. The reason is that some changes were done in the OS Framework.
In case you want TA's you need to get a custom rom with the framework patched..
Trackball notifications work for me in Handcent and Trillian which are both third party apps and I only have unrooted Gingerbread. The only issue I've seen so far is in Handcent, it won't light the trackball when you are testing notifications, but if you actually receive a text the trackball lights up just fine.
I have trackball notifications with SMS, Mail, GMail, Meebo, and Yelp.
I was complaining about this in another thread as well. I lost notification for missed calls, and voicemails. It might pulsate for Gmail messages. Haven't tested text messages yet. When will google be addressing this??
Most of my notifications work fine, but my missed call notification doesn't blink any more. Lame.
My notifications stopped working entirely.
I restored and now the LED blinks only if the screen is off. Once I turn the screen on (even if I do not unlock the phone or do not dismiss the notification) it stops blinking.
If my screen is on when I get the notification originally, the LED never blinks.
In my default profile I set notification light for sms, gmail and other apps but it doesn't work. someone facing same problem?
How u set these notification light on SGM? there is no such type of led in this cell fone.
I mean that display will be on when I receive a sms! it is not possible?

actually i use gosms+gocontacts and love them, but screen on option in gosms does not work every time..any1 else experienced this?

Using stock android email, I don't get any notifications in the status bar.
For Gmail, the notification for new mail does appear in the status bar OK.
In both cases the LED does not blink when a mail arrives.
I'm pretty sure I've checked all the options for notifications (settings>Apps & notifications>configure notification) as well as all apps allowed to send notifications; and in email settings. Also tried in safe mode, and did a factory reset with no result.
But perhaps I'm missing something?
Anyone else with similar issues?

Factory reset solved email icon - it now appears. But no LED light.
Installed led light app (Phone Light-LED) which seems to be a good workaround so far.

I've found that starting in 7.1.1 on my XC, the LED notifications will blink only for notifications configured for sound. If notification is silent, then no LED. Stupid IMO. Not sure if 8.0 is the same or not.
Anyone facing this issue: Notification showing on status bar but not showing on lockscreen, Even after enabling all the app permissions and also show all notifications on lockscreen.
Tried every setting but still not working.

Yup having the same issue. Infact the notification light doesn't come on at all....I have tried everything checked all settings, permissions. It just comes on when charging or when front cam pops up. Also I don't get sound with some notifications but for some I do.
But the the notification light never works.
Is this for whatsapp? For me, after setting all the permissions, sound, notification badge in statusbar, lockscreen started appearing with sounds.
Light, I haven't noticed yet, as its on the top. Will verify that.

The notification light on the pop up camera comes on for me but i dont get any notifications on the lock screen or always on display
Can confirm this bug. The ONLY app that gives me notifications on the lock screen is Snapchat, even though I've explicitly allowed all notifications and their content to show in the lock screen. And for my other messaging apps I've gone to their specific settings to allow this as well. Still nothing. It is really frustrating.
Hi I'm currently using redmi k20 pro running China ROM with MIUI 10.3.16. i noticed with messaging apps such as instagram and line won't show me notifications unless i enable autostart in the app settings. Battery saver has also been turned off. Anybody faced similar problem?
Ok so guys try putting off Adaptive battery in the Battery&Performance setting. I started getting notifications on the lock screen as well as on the ambient display screen after putting it off.
Let me know if it works for you guys.

Have the same problem, i can hear the notification but the led never turn on, only when chargin. Any fix?

Figured out the "no led thing". Change in whatsapp the color from red to white. That was in my case the solution.
I'm sure I'm missing something, but how exactly does the notification light work on this phone? I'm coming from a OnePlus 3 and I'm just baffled.
The main switch for notification dot is on and is also enabled in the apps' settings.
I have been able to get some notification lights working with the LightFlow app, but basic functions like SMS messages don't notify me at all. Fail for Discord as well. And I should not have to use a third party app, right?

It's a shame it's not working proplerly. Have you tried Whatsapp's in-app light notification settings?
It's still bugged, for everything else it's actually fine, just for the sms message app it comes on once upon recieving an SMS then goes off rather than a continuous blink. I read in one of the old CN firmwares they fixed it, but nowhere in the WW firmware is it mentioned.
I've noticed there's no option for vibration on notification led. What's going on here!, the most important small details are missing.
