Haha no there are actually newbies in XDA who post questions such as how to root zenfone 2 in irrelevant thread section..It seems people don't use search feature anymore...Although there is a sticky thread in general section and all the resources for zenfone 2 are there.... Please my humble request to all the brothers of XDA is please use search feature before posting anything.... It will save your time as well as keep our XDA clean
Getting mine tomorrow, against my better judgement (first time I've bought a phone before the bootloader was able to be unlocked). This will be going on it straight away.

Hi members - I have one of these phones that I have been trying to ROOT - it's one of the fake versions out of China (via Wish.com) that claims to have Android 10 (and a bunch of other stuff) but is actually only running 5.1
I wanted to try and ROOT it to see if I can actually load Android 10 on it (adb sideload) but cannot get ROOT level permissions.
Happy to provide any resources from logs to backup files from the phone - can you advise me what the best steps are?

How to install the ROM
Please backup NVRAM and IMEI with TWRP BEFORE flash! If you lose your MAC / IMEI after flash, you can restore it in 2 seconds!
First time installing the ROM
Boot into TWRP -> wipe Dalvik, Cache, System and Data -> Install the ROM ZIP
I have well bought one of these p40 clones and odds aren't in our favor. I am attaching 2 images that show one in black is what i thought i purchased whem actually i bought what is in the spec device image.

yesterday i saw this post https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...-ultra-star-mars.4263135/page-6#post-85697235 and i try to flash the latest beta by extracting the payload contents and flashing with the script he provide...after the flash completed the result was device shut down and never turn on with any way.now my laptop recognize it as com and the following screenshots shows what i got with miflash at edl mode witch is the only that i think it works
any help will be priceless...
