A question about SDR to HDR upconversion - Sony Xperia XZ2 Questions & Answers

Can someone explain to me about SDR to HDR upconvert in this phone? I want to know whether all SDR contents I'm viewing on YouTube, built-in media apps, and Netflix will be converted to HDR as I play them or that's not how it works.

UHD Video Editing app

Ok, Samsung has integrated recording of UHD video for quite some time now, but I've looked everywhere for an app that will allow me to edit a UHD video, even if I want to convert the video to a lower resolution so if someone doesn't have the ability to play back UHD video, at least I could down convert it to HD so I can send the video to others to watch.
I have looked everywhere, and have yet found a video editing app that will allow me to edit UHD videos. Has anyone run across an app that works, with the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, or any Android device for that matter, which will allow someone to edit/downscale, etc UHD videos on their device? I'm not trying to find a fully functional video editing application, just one that will at least recognize the type of video it is and possibly allow me to downconvert the video or trim it. If anyone knows of any Android video editing application that works with UHD videos, I would really appreciate a couple of suggestions, unless I'm correct and none exist. Thanks.

Audio problems when recording videos with 3rd party cameras

Hi guys! I'm having this issue. I usually use Kinemaster to edit my videos for my youtube channel. Strangely Kinemaster doesn't allow me to edit videos recorded with the Nokia 8 stock camera app, it says "codec audio not supported".
So I tried to record videos with several different camera apps (Open camera, google camera, a better camera...) and though Kinemaster accepts every video file recorded with these alternative apps, the audio quality of every video shot with other apps is terrible. A lot of noise, I mean a lot! I can't seem to work this one out. Anyone tried to record a video with a different camera app? How did that work out for you?
Thanks guys...
Did you try converting your video to another audio/video format?

HEVC Video Support?

Hello, I'm going to be upgrading from my Midnight Black Snapdragon S5 to the Ocean Blue 512GB Exynos Note9 and would like to know if it supports HEVC x265 video files (in .m4v & .mkv formats) ? I can play them on my PC via KMPlayer but would be great if the stock Video Player & Gallery on the Note9 support them as well so I wouldn't have to download MX Player instead. Any info is appreciated, thank you for reading
PS: Please quote my post when you reply as I don't check Note9 forums often (yet ).

I haven't used this feature but tried to answer your question on my Eyxnos Note 9
It seems to have the option to select hevc in video recording settings of standard camera app.
A short test video , recorded on Note 9 with hevc option enabled was playable in both native gallery app and MXplayer.
Both players seemed to confirm hevc encoding

I mainly would watch series in HEVC but if it plays recorded HEVC from the camera I don't see a reason not to play movies etc. Thanks for confirming
isint hevc just the encoding for the file container?
logically anything that has H.265 support can play it( which all modern players should be able to play/read)
btw file extensions(container) are almost meaningless eg: mkv, mv4,mp4 and dosent regulate if the actualy decoding is possible or not. they are just a name that allows the correct app to start and open the file. the header in the file probably is the important part.

HDR10 video files playback

Is there any way to play HDR10 video files with proper HDR colors? HDR works fine in YouTube, but neither the stock player nor VLC or Kodi manage to play the video file properly; washed-out greyish colors are the result. The file is a standard 4k HEVC HDR10 24fps video, and plays fine besides missing HDR. Since the phone itself supports HDR10, I really wonder why it won't work. Is it a software-side artificial limitation to Netflix and YouTube (where HDR works just fine), or is there any technical reason behind this? And would there be any custom ROMs with proper HDR playback support?
Try mxplayer, has better support for hdr metadata than stock &Vlc

Any solution to this....?
i dont have proper information regarding the question asked.. but i felt to share my experience too..
i have VLC , MX player, KM player .. i tried playing Batman begins(2k) movie..
then VLC changed colours drastically by boosting saturation and gamma levels..
KMplayer played it in good colours, i found that something relating to SW/HW enforcing or acceleration has to do with it..
then finally i tried to disable all enhancements in VLC and tried.. then video became choppy..
it couldn't play the video at all.. same as my Laptop ( i3,8th gen - default HDgraphics) plays 4k video in choppy manner
then i thought: they are not only playing video, but converting the video while playing it.. because i can observe loss in detailing of picture ( my laptop with 1080p screen has more detailing than, phone 1080p screen)
