Lineage 15.1 update for Moto Z2 Force - Moto Z2 Force Guides, News, & Discussion

Just saw this on the xda front page, thought I'd post it here:

Yes. Also: erfan has almost completely got treble working for our device. Twrp had an overhaul as well

@Uzephi do you have downloads for twrp?

this is great news i was playing with the vendor partition on these phone and was not able to get the gsi to load until i started modding the version of twrp i was running with red wolf recovery additions. it booted but was not usable as the device did not like something in my work around and gave up on it i was just going to wait for the Z3 but now i think this phone will stay in my pocket even longer.

Check erfanoabdi's AFH. All his experimental releases are there. There is a treble one (a bunch of stuff broken, on back burner for now) and one that supports password decryption. Cannot flash current builds with it though.
Edit: warning. Experimental means no support and most likely things are broken, like flashing ROMs explained for the test twrp. It does decrypt 8.1 ROMs correctly though

Looks like an experimental build has been posted.

if I flash these roms I will not have problems with the imei when returning to stock?
---------- Post added at 06:13 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:08 PM ----------
Is this rom better than the stock? because the stock is incredible and it works perfectly for me. I'm only interested in installing this rom since it's the only way I can get rid of the bloatware and make it work in sprint.

I've been using LOS for quite a bit now, and it's great, and to answer your question, YES, it is better than stock, battery life is better, smooth and responsive, the only drawback for some people, is that audio motomods don't work on the ROM and probably never will, but highly recommended if you want a clean android experience.

I would not be so pessimistic on that. There's a small but possible chance, once they force the Treble on, that someone else may be able to figure out the Audio Motomods.

Flashed Nightly 15.1 following steps in their official website and ended up with a brick....But I found a blankflash through port 9008 to recover.
It`s possible that I missed the fastboot -w step.

Unless motorola releases the audio drivers for their motomods, I find it kinda impossible, because it seems that those drivers are closed source, treble will help with future development but I really doubt we'll see audio mods working.

I was using the last nightly until yesterday when I found out that the microphone on video calls was not working, so I had to come back to stock.

Is this the newest update?? i'm still on June 18th. i usually get notified on my phone but for some reason not getting any and when i check for updates it fails????

Me too, but I got it working following other AOSP installs.
Flashall
Bootloader and then Fastboot into TWRP
Wipe Cache, Data, System
Install to A
Install to B
Reboot to Bootloader, run the fastboot -w
(optional) Fastboot into TWRP, Install GAPPs
(optional Magisk)
Boot into the system, do not add your accounts or anything.
Skip past everything, only selecting the reporting and bug logs you want on.
Boot back into the Bootloader, and fastboot TWRP
Install Magisk, and preferably go to Magisk Manager and Magiskhide Google Play Store and Google Framework Services before adding accounts.

Well, that might've been an experiment release? I know the July 3rd one is a nightly.

Anyone able to get volte working on the latest nightly (20180703)?

You are ultimately responsible for what happens with your device
By flashing this you have already voided and sort of warranty for your device
And I am not responsible for bricked devices
There is always a small amount of risk in what we do here...
So please do research and ask questions before things go bad
I will do my best to answer questions
***End of warning***
Please thank scott.hart.bti who is the creator of Beanstalk ROM and the Cyanogenmod Team whose work is the base of this ROM!
**About
Beanstalk is a CM based ROM with a few minor tweaks here and there to make a pretty smooth android experience.
**Install
WIPE (data, cache, and Dalvik)...you aint coming from CM12 so this will have to be a fresh and clean install
Install ROM...download available here
Install GAPPS if you so choose...available here or what ever variation you so choose
OPTIONAL install SuperSU...available here. (there is a slight bug where it may not install on its own)
OPTIONAL wipe chaches before reboot
Reboot
Enjoy!
**Download
Jan 31, 2015 here
**Change Log
Jan 31, 2015 - Initial build
**Known Issues
SuperSU is supposed to install after the ROM installs by default...for the KF2 it seems a little buggy. If thats the case you can flash after 1st boot.
Overall the system seems a little choppy not super smooth yet.
I'll get some screen shots up sometime...so there is none at the moment.
Lollipop at LAST!

You're still awesome
Your into says: "Please thank scott.hart.bti who is the creator of Beanstalk ROM and the Cyanogenmod Team whose work is the base of this ROM!" First, thank you scott.hart.bte and Cyanogenmod Team for all of your work, as well as you Obsolete1. Question: I have a STOCK KF2d Gen. I assume I will need to root first, then set up twrp, 2nd bootloader and other files as though I'm loading Otter2's android 4.4.4? I also assume I pick up with your Lolipop rom, gapps and SU at the same point in the process where I would be installing CM11.0 + 3.0.50 Kernel for Kindle Fire 2 and the gapps for it? Are my assumptions correct? Thank you again for your work on this project.
First root access then use fastboot to flash boot.img recovery 2nd bootloader then you upgrade twrp to 2.6.3.1 then you can flash this rom just don't flash anything from cm 11
Works for me. Thanks for the additional info because I would have missed the twrp upgrade to 2.6.3.1.

Yes and no....busy home life at the moment plus I'm in to process of chaning distros so things are kind of a mess. This is my "other" project that does not get as much attention. My phone which runs the same thing gets more attention because I use it everyday unlike my KF. Give me a couple more days and I should have another build.
Again sorry for not responding, I didnt get any notifications that there where posts here I assumed most people had moved on so it went to way "back-burner" on the things to do. But now that I see some interest I will try to make it a little more important. Thanks again for the interest. :good:

Great work man. My SuperSU is not opening up and after it freezes the whole system starts to force close, I already reinstalled it using TWRP but no luck, I updated to the latest version using an apk I downloaded but it still won't open up and.
Can you help me root it?
Also very excited about lollipop for KF2! Let me know if I can test anything.

Yes if you have the minimum required version to install Lollipop. Because you already have CM installed it means you already have performed all the necessary bootstrap tricks.

That justs means the kernel is set to permissive. Personally, i think its better that way.
The rom is lack of simplified chinese characters. Is there a ways to fix it too?

Oh my god, i fixed it lol..XDD i am just pure lucky. I replaced this file in fonts SECHans-Regular.otf taken From MM rom.
Also fixed all the symbol error like pounds "£"
New rom repacked let me know if better or worse I'll give it one more shot if its worse lol, but am waiting for N for our devices just like you. Just wanted the community to feel Nougat that wasn't Chinese firmware. I'm waiting for the release too so I can update the Lineage 14.1 drivers and ramdisk and kernel. I'm afraid if I do that now, a bit will change when its available via ota and make my work moot.
Enjoy
Thanks!

Hi @travis82, The rom works so far so good, just one question, why the samsung theme store is in Chinese, and it ask for phone, contact, and storage access. I flashed Dave's auroa N before yours, but I did format the data. so I'm wondering if the theme store is embended in the rom? And why the app's name displays in Chinese?
thanks,

Is there anywhere to find old versions of beta?

14.6 flat out doesn't work for me. 14.5 works but has a looping logcat issue that generates around 30gb of logs a day and drains battery in a hurry. Works ok for me, but won't work for my wife's phone (having her go in once every day or two to clear the logs is a non-starter). 14.37 is reported by some as working without the issue, but I can't find it anywhere. I attempted a build from source, however there is an issue with the sub module pull of SE linux for that tag, so I'm unable to build it myself. 14.0 isn't an option as it won't install on an Essential PH-1.
The segfault with v14.6 on Essential phones is known. No idea if it can be fixed though. Let's hope so...
Meanwhile, you can find old release on GitHub.

Since I'm not a dev and I'm on my phone and have the exact same problem (Magisk tell me to update to 14.6 and it cause bootloop, I have flah my phone with a backup to unbrick it), do you know where to find a useable version of Magisk 14.5, like you download and flash and it works?
And why do the dev erase old beta versions? It makes things complicated for no reasons... Magisk 14.5 was the only one to work on my phone. 14 don't works and 14.6 creates bootloop.

[discussion] reducing risks when trying treble

Hi,
It seems noone so far tryed to flash a treble GSI to the redmi 6. Im courious in doing this, but would like to discuss potential risks. What could go wrong?
After some reading i found the possibility that devices get problems running Google Apps, since they we're not certified.
To prevent this, you can register your Google Services ID in your Google Account.
1) Install the App "device ID" from Playstore, run it and copy the GSF.
2) Open this Page and paste your GSF. Click register, and your done.
Another thing is that there are two types of GSI Updates.
Type A/B and Type A. I ran the App "treble Check" from Playstore and it tells me that the redmi 6 ist treble supported and that I need the Type A GSI
Then it seems necessary to remove magisk/superSu/xposed to have a clean boot Image.
Loosing data is no problem for me.
Anyone any suggestions?
Tell us what works and what doesn't work.

You use the TWRP in test ?
..i will not flash until i'm pretty Sure, nothing will go wrong.
I would like to understand what ist technicaly done.
After what i've read, its a normal fastboot flash, of the system partition. So, am I still able to run TWRP If anything goes wrong?
I guess the way to go, is to do a clean Fastboot flash of the official MiUi10 in advance to make sure my boot/ramdisk is clean. Then I would reflash TWRP and last the GSI.
What do you think?
(beside from 'let others risk their phone')
use this link for reference:

please, which treble GSI AOSP rom (8.1 or 9.0) advised with the most things working (calls, camera, fingerprint, sound...)??
thanks
i think Android 8.1 gsi rom is more stable as of now.
if u want to flash gsi rom
1. unlock bootloader by official way
2. flash twrp
3. do a factory reset in twrp
4. flash rom.
that's all.
nobody has tested yet?
no feed back on what's working and what doesn't?
I think i am gonna test soon, just gotta get some info... i was flashing intesively lot of phones in past, but now i had pause few years... seems lot of things changed - treble?! whaat?!
I just got this redmi 6, although i wanted 5, and seems it was big mistake, but nonetheless im gonna try and see. I dont remember any phone with 0 info and 0 feedback few years back.

Hey there everyone!
Since there are no custom ROM's currently available for our Redmi 6, i decided to give GSI ROM's a try. I tried los 15.1, and it worked! Wifi, bt, and even camera work. The only problem: The radio's don't work, so you cant make calls / sms /data. Other then that, the ROM is super fast and speedy. Also, there are no GApps and its not certified, so we gotta certify it I've tried only Lineage, but you can also try RR, HavocOS etc.
BTW, the Redmi 6 is ARM and A only.

You don't need to fastboot flash the img, you can use TWRP too. And yes, TWRP works if anything goes wrong and worst case use Mi flash and rescue your phone. I tried los 15.1, here are my thoughts: https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-6/how-to/rom-gsi-lineage-os-redmi-6-t3915146

Also, there are no GApps and its not certified, so we gotta certify it I've tried only Lineage, but you can also try RR, HavocOS etc.

i think Android 8.1 gsi rom is more stable as of now.
if u want to flash gsi rom
1. unlock bootloader by official way
2. flash twrp
3. do a factory reset in twrp
4. flash rom.
that's all.

Hey which gsi rom is the best in your opinion?

Hi,
It seems noone so far tryed to flash a treble GSI to the redmi 6.

Don't know bro, since your post was 5 years old but here it is showing arm32_binder64_ab_system.img or a64_system_ab.img will work fine...
i.e in short Android 13 gsi will definitely gonna work

What is this?

Semi-GSI? what's that?
a semi-gsi (at least by my own definition) is a gsi built from source, with heavy patches intended for a specific device that wouldn't make the gsi necessarily as universal as a gsi should be. so in terms: don't flash this on other devices.
How does this differ from any other gsis out there/what are the features?
Well this includes a number of fixes including:
Dual speakers are working.
Ui lag is no more (at least 99.99%).
Aod is working/enabled.
Auto brightness is kinda working.
MTP is working
Other performance fixes and improvments.
What's working/not working?
First up:
Obviously Samsung's own features such as Samsung Pay, KNOX, Theme Center, Game Launcher, etc. won't be ported to LineageOS Pixel Experience. We may have our own implementation to similar functions, though.
Iris sensor does not work because AOSP upstream does not support that yet.
IMS services (VoLTE, VoWiFi, etc). Samsung has their own proprietary implementation. It is not really possible to easily port that to LineageOS PixelExperience.

2ndly the semi-gsi has a few quirks of it's own. Nothing major or worth noting but you should check the "anything else i should know?" part in the FAQ. hence why HWC is broken
Instructions:
Make sure TWRP has been installed and functional.
Download the latest build image and kernel linked below
Reboot to recovery
Wipe system, data and cache from the wipe menu
Select flash image in twrp, lower right side on the install menu
Flash the rom image as system (and gapps). DONT flash gapps. they are already included in the rom.
Flash the kernel image corresponding to your model as boot
Reboot and enjoy :victory:

Troubleshooting/FAQ:
Q:Can i use any other kernels with this gsi?
A:Nah, not really. I built this kernel specifically to work with this gsi and it includes a few major fixes (for example mtp won't work, major ui lag, no dual speakers etc if you switch to another kernel. But again. If you want to use other kernels, they should* boot. Endurance kernel even has my dual speaker patch and i confirm as working. But again expect bugs.
Q: Is there anything else i should know?
A: Ehhhhhhh, not really. I mean there are some stuff i'm really not proud of,for example to "fix" the ui lag i had to set the minimum gpu frequency to 455; this shouldn't create any issues(perhaps some battery drainage when screen is on) but afaik it doesn't impact sleep or anything else.
Q: My mobile data (3G/4G) is not working
A: Go into network settings and select/create an apn
Q:Would this be preferred over a device specific rom?
A: Overall nah. The reason i didn't set on building device specific los16.....well actually i did and failed. But this is a pretty good placeholder until someone more skilled than me takes over and creates pie device trees.
Q: Safetynet doesn't pass?
A: Yeah, i guess that's a thing. Go into magisk and download some module called props hide or something. Don't forget to run it from terminal. It should work from there
Q: The rom isn't booting/camera doesn't work
A: Flash/make sure you have the BRI4 vendor, the linked kernel and try again.
Q: The rom is in a bootloop/google apps keep crashing
A: You did read the instructions and NOT flash any gapps riighhttt?? smh, wipe /system,/data and /cache and start over
Q: I have another bug; How can i tell it to you while slightly increasing my changes of it ever getting fixed.
A: You can tell me what's going on either here or on telegram WITH A LOGCAT attached(required);if rom isn't booting at all attach /proc/last_kmsg.
Q: I don't know what/how to logcat. Is it really necessary?
A: Logcat or gtfo
Q: How can i support you?
A: Awwww thanks; On most of my posts on the left side there's a "donate to me" paypal button; You can use that, donations are more than welcome, or if you don't have any $ to spare you can also post here about how awesome i am (this surprisingly helps very much)
Credits:
The lineageos team; device maintainers who did a wonderful job at creating device trees
The pixel experience team for creating the rom we so do enjoy
Many good people from the telegram group (linked above) that helped me create this project and spamming for etas
And most importantly thanx to iqblal_sareem best creationner ev3r.

Yeah.
Last vendor from Soldiers rom. I flashed your kernel for the S9 to my S9. I also made a test and flashed Magisk, no difference.

Which model nr are you?
The ideal way of doing it was to have the latest vendor installed (i have BRI4 rn) wipe /system, /cache and /data. Flash just the system img and the kernel img and it should boot just fine. Can you try this?
So far so good. Recording video on my s9+ screen flashes green, stereo speakers work on SoundCloud but not with play music, still testing. Thanks

System_Image for the rom and Boot for the kernel.
I installed the latest Benzorom 9 and this works!
Than again your rom without your kernel, it goes than further, the Google boot animation doesnt disapeared, but cant boot into system.
So something must be wrong in the kernel for the 960F version.

Has anyone with a small s9 booted the rom using the kernel?
EDIT: ok apparently the small variant is bootlooping, will delete the link and get back later
@Oel can you try this for the small s9 pls?

Flashed successfully on Exynos S9+. I can make calls but cannot receive calls. Any idea why?
Hi, do we have an option to disable the fingerprint unlock vibration? If no, can we have it please? Also, Thanks for this wonderful work of yours
