Glimpse Notifications (for the lack of LED notifications) - LG Q6 Guides, News, & Discussion

I was pretty pissed about LG not implementing a LED to notify the user about new messages or notifications.
Since I'm using Glimpse Notifications on various devices, I've tested it on the Q6 and it works fine.
You'll get the screen to flash and show the lockscreen once you receive (for example) a new message. Like Ambient Display on custom ROMs.
Plus, it has a slew of options.

Have you been on other Android devices?

I was wondering - what would the perfect mash up of ROM features be, if I combined the stock ROMs from the manufacturers of Android devices I have owned?
I liked the Sense launcher and the widgets on HTC Wildfire S, which was my first Android device. Also the alarm clock. It was nice to look at.
The HTC broke up contact numbers in pairs of two, as they should be in Denmark, with 8 digits in phone numbers. The extended reboot menu, with shutdown, reboot and fast boot was a nice feature.
I miss the reboot option natively on the Z.
On i9100 I *hated* TouchWiz and the colors! Also, the lack of notification LED was a huge problem for me.
The lack of to disable the preview of incoming texts, so they would light up screen and scroll through the notification bar, had me starting using Handcent SMS.
Now I use Handcent, because it also can customize notification colors in the status bar, and notification LED color.
They i9100 on 4.0.0 firmware broke up contact numbers in pairs of two, that was good, but it could not disable the preview of incoming texts, that was bad.
Later firmware updates gave the ability to disable text preview, but broke up contacts in sets of 3-3-2, making the number difficult to read.
Call quality was lousy because of the forced noice cancelling and the weak antenna.
All in all the i9100, being a high end device, had some serious flaws when I come to think about it.
I liked the extended sound control panel in the i9100, and I miss it on the Z.
From CM I miss fast toggles to toggle 2/3/4G.
I would love the stock ROM on the Z to have customizable notification LED in the message app, and privacy box like Handcent SMS.
Aqua Mail beats stock mail app by a mile.
Z have a very stable software and a low amount of wake locks. I really like that. However, the screen really drinks all the battery no time - or so it feels like.

Moto Display issues after 6.0 update

Hello All,
The new update is really smooth but it seems to have affected my favorite feature Moto Display with some weird issues.
1) DND doesn't automatically deactivate the sensors like Moto Assist used to keep the screen dark and the phone still flashes notifications at night. Does that consumer battery and affect Doze?
2) We cand choose the screen to go dark from 11pm-6am in Moto Display, but they removed the option to define custom timings. So now its either 11pm-6am or have the phone flash notification all night?
3) The flashing interval for Moto Display also seems to have been reduced and it flashes too often now, which becomes a little annoying if the phone is in front of you.
Are these issues for everyone or am I missing something? Any comments or workarounds would be helpful.

I own Moto X 2014, but still Lollipop, not receive Marshmallow yet. But i find some changlog on Motorola, I see :
Sleeping and Meeting - to keep your phone quiet while you are sleeping or while you are busy in a meeting you may wish to consider using the Do not disturb feature from Android. To set it up, swipe the status bar down with two fingers and tap the gear icon at the top right corner of your screen. Once in the Settings menu, scroll down and tap Sound & notification, then go to Do not disturb. To keep your screen dark while you are sleeping, open the Moto app, tap the icon on the top right corner of your screen, then go to Display and set the time under Keep screen dark.

Tap the time in Moto display settings to choose what hours you would like the display to be off. The features in Marshmallow just have been relocated from what they were in Lollipop.
Ok, sorry. I got it. I tried hitting the numbers earlier but it just got deselected. Trying to tap those ain't easy with your thumb I guess. Worked now. Thanks guys!

But the Moto Display assist doesn't work with Marshmallow.... At least the icons don't appear....

Buggy notifications - Pie

Freshly installed Pie.
There is alarm clock setup and two hours before there is icon in the notification area and random sounds (like new message received).
Also found out those random notification sounds even when there is no notification or if there is viber message notification - few random sounds will repeat after.
I did not face those issues previously when Pie was installed as upgrade on top of Oreo, but newly installed creates problem.
p.s. I'm still pissed off from Novatek bad display so I hope I can get rid of this device
+1 also got random notifications without there beeing one.
I think it could be related to the option display ambient with the option turn on periodically
@Rubens95 - true.Amazing to put it in Display-Ambient-New notifications - repeat every 2 minutes.
Thanks.
Now one issue is left - random notifications without any even, but they are rare and not so annoying.
Cheers

It seems HMD Global finally found the killer app, but unfortunately it is killing other apps!
https://dontkillmyapp.com/nokia?1
Nokia on Android P kills any background process including sleep tracking (or any other sport tracking) after 20 minutes if the screen is off. Also when killed all alarms are stopped which renders for example any alarm clock apps useless.
This is not my work...
Found this from a AdroidPolice article
DontKillMyApp.com shames OEMs that needlessly kill useful background processes to save battery life
After killing this app, now Google Fit and all other notifications and alarms work again. Yeeeee!
That's bad reputation from their side. Disappointing.
But my issue was the 'Ambient Display' - anyway thanks for sharing.

Question Repeat Notification on screen...?

Hey all, just picked up a mi 11 ultra, coming from a OnePlus 7pro. I have plus beat on my 7pro to show me on screen notifications from sms, email etc... Trying to find something that works on the Mi11 ultra, so far I've tried plus beat and AOE but I can't seem to get either to work. AOE will do a notification one time, but won't repeat after 5-20 seconds after the initial notification.... Anyone else attempting this, or have found a solution to have screen notification reminders?
I'm using Glimpse Notifications:
[APP] Glimpse Notifications
~~~~~~ Introduction ~~~~~~ Using Android Lollipop/Marshmallow's lock screen notifications? Tired of having to press the power button to see them? Want your phone to turn on new notifications, but only when you grab to look at it? Want your...
forum.xda-developers.com
Very good app, many configuration options available, no battery drain.
Anyway, Plus Beat for Oneplus 7Pro is unbeatable, Xiaomi is missing the Ambient Display...
Perfect, thanks I'll give that a shot!
Thanks that works, not nearly as nice as plus but will do the trick, hopefully the pocket detection works...
I don't get why this isnt implemented into phones as an option... Repeat notifications
