Codename Phoenix [5/5T - Personal builds]
[Stable] - Looks like
New builds are up!
Changelog highlights:
* July security patch (aka android-8.1.0_r40 tag)
* Initial EAS build (More work is needed, but that looks like a good start)
* Latest Flash kernel 4.29 + EAS commits (All credits to RenderBroken, joshuous, nathanchance and all the others who contributed to their projects! My forked source code can be found here: https://github.com/siankatabg/op5/tree/8.1.0-unified-EAS
* Updated Clang to 7.0.2 for kernel compiling (ROM is still compiled with 6.0.2)
* Added back some of the OOS camera stuffs (Now there shouldn't be a delay when switching front/back cams in other apps! Use v2.5.X OOS cam(The app is still slow and needs some time on the first launch). GCam is still the default app.)
* Few changes to the powerHAL (Lower boost values as EAS is in play now)
* Added SmartPixels (So useless on these low dpi displays... Might be removed soon)
* Fixed the recents Android P transition bug
* Added option for proximity check before handling power and volume buttons wake events
* Pocket mode will now use the oneplus pocket sensor
* Added a prop that enables Google maps to be used in the new OnePlus Gallery instead of the China one (for those who updated the app)
* Improve a calculation method for LTE antenna reception level

YOU DON'T NEED TO FLASH FIRMWARE!
OpenGapps for 8.1:
http://opengapps.org
Recommended to use the latest Codeworkx or BluSpark TWRP (for android 8.1)!
Flashing Magisk inline with the ROM might lead you to bootloop/black screen. It is recommended to flash Magisk after the initial boot of the ROM.
Have fun!

NOTE TO DEV : Above all, thank you, after that, if for any reason even the Telegram/info cause problem, just PM and i ask for remove this thread, THX!

For people want OOS Cam, you can install OnePlus Camera from APKMirror
I have test 2.5.33, even 2.8.8 work fine (first launch is long, ~30 secondes, after that, opening is normal)
NOTE : After all the Gcam Mod optimization, i prefer using Gcam definitively, most fastest/stable and great quality pictures/video

The developer clearly has a reason why this rom was never published on XDA. You should remove this.
I get your good intention, but this might anger them and will just stop publishing new builds and remove the ones uploaded.

Rom is not published, it's just a link to the Telegram channel... If sian has gone XDA/Google+ it's because people was boring to asking always the same questions/problems, so he has ending support. It's just a thread for information/review because this rom deserve to be more knowed. If sian ask me to remove this thread, no prob

This rom is dope is beside of crDroid the best out there in my opinion :good:
Sent from my OnePlus 5 using XDA Labs

This has been my daily driver for the last 4-6 months. Excellent ROM. New update with EAS Kernel is fabulous.

Wow that's true, I have no idea why is this happening. (Btw I think a minority of users use Apple Music on Android:silly: )

Guys how is this rom compared to stock oos? Is google face unlock fast enough? Something is missing compared to stock? What about battery?

Who cares about gaming mode lol.. I'll try this when I have time..
Oh, another thing.. Does gcam crash on slowmotion like in stock OOS or not?

Another thing, how are the 2 sims managed? I love the oneplus management, don't know anything about this rom management..
Also, is the boot animation custom?

PixN Rom** Theme friendly ** Better Camera ** exFAT ** Optimized kernel ** Substratum ** Clang ** Custom Settings **
This is my daily driver which I update occasionally depending on weather I need/want new features. There won't be any OTA's because of work. Do please also check the Credits section, and the Screenshots tab.
I do not have a single sim device, however I have compiled kernels for the single sim and dual sim variant both.
The kernel thread has now been split to be here since the kernel gets more updates than the rom (for now atleast).
This project has been renamed to show the my first forays into more *real* development.
Please use the Feature Request tab for feature inclusion requests.
It's also very hard to keep track of bugs reported here in the comments so please, again, use the bug reports tab...
I'm very thankful to everyone commenting, it's just hard to keep track sometimes, and seeing as DevDB has all the features required...
Since I also use XDA Labs which has no DevDB support it'd be best to comment AND add the comment in the required DevDB tab..

Please feel free to report more bugs, or even request more features but I'm not a dev so, no guarantees.
Installation Instructions
Eventually these will be flashable zips, however right now they're causing an error (IOError: [Errno 28] No space left on device)
So for now install by fastboot
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery_3.0.2.img
I don't recommend wiping userdata via fastboot so if you want you can always factory reset or clear Data, Cache, Dalvik and System from TWRP.
EDIT:- People having trouble flashing the system.img should try with mfastboot (fix found by @katibehi)
Downloads
The DevDB downloads are for the system.img and boot.img files only. They're in 7z cuz otherwise I can't upload them.
Get the latest kernel from the PixN kernel thread here.
Beta Release 1.999
This is in the DevDB download. The changelog is incorporated into the feature list.
The .7z is NOT FLASHABLE.
Extract it and fastboot flash the file as fastboot flash system filename.img

Beta Release 3
MAJOR RELEASE. Go get it.
Beta Release 3.1
Bugs squashed. Notably the reboot.
Beta Release 4
Biggest YET!! Most feature complete rom around.
Beta Release 5
Bigger than ever (feature wise). First and only 7.1.1 build for our devices. Happy New Year!
Sadly this release is not on DevDB.. Since DevDB won't finish attaching files as of 1st Jan and I don't even know if it'll be back. I'm really hoping for a basketbuild account, cuz then I'll be able to serve OTA's. Anyway.
For now due to popular demand this release, Release 5 is uploaded to MEGA.
Beta Release 5.5
Still on MEGA.
The link to the folder is here
Beta Release6, 7
Mega again... Until DevDB is back up assume all future releases to be on MEGA for now.
The link to the folder is here
For mobile users to get to the downloads section just hit the big DOWNLOADS button.
FAQ/Frequent Statements
Q0: When ${THING}?
A0: No ETAs. Don't ask.
Q1: You list my phone above but there isn't a build uploaded, why not?
A1: Haven't gotten around to it yet.
Q2: But when will you get to building it?
A2: Damn it, see Q0/A0.
Q3: How often will builds be produced?
A3: Whenever I get to them and feel like uploading.
Q4: But ${THING} isn't working for me. I cannot live without ${THING}.
A4: Not surprising, nougat is still young. Some features aren't ported and some may still be buggy. Maybe this isn't ready for you yet. And don't cry.
Q5: Xposed?
A5: Don't know. Maybe, maybe not. I'll ignore you if you complain about something and are using Xposed. Not out for nougat yet.
Q6: Can I complain about something?
A6: I'd prefer not, but be prepared for me to ignore you.
Q7: Can I report a bug?
A7: Absolutely. Please mention the kernel version and any additional files you flashed. Create a logcat.
Q8: When will you fix ${THING} that I just reported?
A8: Damn it, see Q0/A0. And if your ${THING} isn't something that bothered me, it probably just got shuffled to the back of the line.
Q9: Can I donate?
A9: Sure! Whatever you can. This takes a lot of time. Apparently not.
Q10: What is this "sdclang" thing?
A10: CM is using a optimized version of the clang/llvm compiler for official builds of Qualcomm devices. I'm using it for my own builds. See these links here and here.
I've depreciated this to move to Clang 3.9 (newer).

Well.... I'd suggest you wait for a while after the reboot.. Then try the internal camera in WhatsApp... That works for me..
Though the camera problem is basically across all aosp builds until Sony or cyanogenmod or someone fixes it...
First of all thanks for your great effort! this rom is amazing.
Well time to report.
First, battery life is quite amazing, over 5 hours of sot. (around 3 in stock rom)
Second, the 64gb sd card won't get recognized... but on the other hands 32 gb one works well.
Regards,
Jerry
P.s. if you would like to solve the camera issue try to dig into @infected_'s repo... His roms had solved the camera problem.

Thanks for the heads up I'll definitely look into it
I'm not sure why the 64 gb cards don't work...
I'm not having issues with my 128gb sd card but it did format it before it would work..
Has it offered to format the sd card?
EDIT: @infected_ also seems to have used the same sonyAOSP repositories for his aosp build...
It's unlikely but maybe a different tool chain might help... I'll check. Also they seem to be all marshmallow builds... That might also be behind their camera working better...
camera isnt working yet on AOSP, on the kitakami/msm8994 family and all others. with some hacks msm8974 was taking pictures, but nothing stable.
regards.
What about the battery life during the night for you ?
It started from 82% at 2:00 AM, and now it's at 65%...

Yikes, that seems really awful. I'd suggest you use naptime for aggressive doze.
You could also try the doze app which stops background data for chosen apps...
With naptime installed you should get much better battery life...
Did you clean flash this?

I think that error probably has to do with the larger size of the system image because of gapps being included..

Is it possible to make this compatible with the E6653 device? The rom loads perfectly on my phone, only thing not working is my SIM card because I dont have a DSDS phone.

Yup it is possible and I'll release a working boot.img for the e6653 with the next release (hopefully today itself)
Actually the delay is because I'm compiling with uber but my first build was laggy as hell.

Haha, you have no idea how excited I am right now. Eagerly awaiting that upload. Soon as it's up, I'll load it up and if all works well I'll use it for a while and give you some feedback.
Unfortunately the CM 14.1 ROM that was posted (which is for the E6653) cant detect my SIM either, lot of other people are having that issue too. Hopefully yours will be that stock experience I'm looking for.

Ok, so I installed Doze, Greenify (without Xposed, hope that it will be compatible with Android Nougat soon ), and NapTime. Without effect, always 2-3% drain per hour.
I realized that my device won't deep sleep, it was always in activity even when I wasn't using it.
I searched for wakelocks, and noticed that Google services were faulty. I disabled some of them after searched online, and it's better
I think without camera, the rom isn't complete. I am waiting for that.

I believe the sim detection in @fergy's rom has been fixed by him.. check the last posts in that thread...
I do honestly believe aosp is doing better than cm-14.1 at the moment, mostly because CMTE hasn't been doing well on the newer CM roms while Substratum is working really well...
I'm uploading a single sim kernel to release 1. Since the Uber builds are being more trouble than help...
Test it and tell me how it goes...

On release 2 (testing) with the Uber toolchain, Open Camera works... however the rom is overall very laggy using uber...
So I'll be looking into other opportunities...
By the way, have you found any non-stock rom (AOSP,CM etc) here or elsewhere with a working msm8994 camera?
If yes please link the repos here, I'll gladly try to incorporate it.

[KERNEL][Kenzo] FrancoKernel ⚡️- r16 - 18th April - LineageOS & Oreo

Hi all.
Compatibility:
Builds starting with r1 are for Lineage OS 14.1 based roms.
Builds starting with r13 are also for Android Oreo 8.1.0 roms.
Download:
From my webserver choose the Kernel with the most recent version number. Older releases for older Android versions are in the parent directory:
Android 7.1.2: https://kernels.franco-lnx.net/RedmiNote3/7.1.2/anyKernel/
Android 8.1.0: https://kernels.franco-lnx.net/RedmiNote3/8.1.0/anyKernel/
or from my Updater app. It's just easier and more convenient:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.franco.kernel
Installation:
Flash the zip in your recovery
or
Auto-flash from Franco Kernel Updater app
Features:
1 - Legendary battery life
2 - Flash & forget
3 - Typical interfaces like display adjustments, sound control, vibration control, and all that boring stuff
4 - Bypasses the verified boot flag for Android Pay compatibility (root still breaks Android Pay but that's your own problem)
5 - Idle power consumption reduced to the absolute minimum (if you have wakelocks from 3rd party apps you're obviously on your own)
6 - Support for FKUpdater's Performance Profiles
7 - Magical support, I'm here every day, checking posts almost hourly, ready to help anytime (well, unless you fail to read the OP, which contains most info you need)
8 - Seemless integration with my app FKUpdater
9 - No useless placebo patches, or "magical" optimizations
10 - Probably more, check my github for all the details - the code speaks for itself

Franco Kernel: Manager & Updater demo
Disclaimer to moderators:
Slight OT is fine, but when users decide to act stupid they should be dealt with with the appropriate means - its really annoying for me when OT turns crazy. Please put the warning/ban hammer anytime any of you think there's lack of respect and/or too much unwanted OT crap - but if it doesn't meet this criteria let the OT posts alone. Thank you.
Cheers!
Full support on Franco Kernel Manager & Updater app has been released!
Also I'm pretty fresh on this device so if I missed anything let me know, if it makes sense I'll add it.

Ohh welcome to our community, I am at your disposal to give you the necessary information of our device so that you support is complete, thank you!
Finally!!!
Will post review soon, no issues till now
Recommend installing the stock kernel first before installing your kernel?
I'll post it now so that I can refer to it later on. Battery life greatly varies between usage, signal strength, apps wakelocking (or not), display brightness and what not. I've set it up to save power as much as possible, but there are parts of the equation that I don't control. So be wary of that before you say X or Y wastes more or less battery life (or the usual erhmagherd no deep sleep as if I removed it... lol). I don't have any numbers about the improvements I've made, but they are pretty much in line with every device I've worked on. If you have my app the Power-Saving perf profile is a winner and helps tremendously if you really need the extra screen on time.

Share your ROM and MODS [CHEESEBURGER][USER FRIENDLY]

Why one more Boring CHEESEBURGER thread…?
Because I like to bore everyone (Kidding…)
Actually I’ve noticed If we talk about any ROM in any other ROM thread it’s considered as DISRESPECT of DEV, and I’m agree with this, Because every DEV works in this community for free and few user compares HIS work with another’s DEV that is completely unfair, and second reason to open this thread is – We all use a lot of modification, Some user uses that MOD without any issue but some unable to use same mod..So I felt to open this thread.I believe here every user will help each other…….
Important Note As I’ve mentioned its USER FRIENDLY thread that means DEVS are banned here… :sillySorry Once again kidding)….
I request to Forum Moderator @Stephen if he found this thread as Same/unnecessary, He can close this without my request……..

Bluetooth audio (and usb audio as well) is fixed yesterday: https://review.mfunz.com/22288
So the last issue is the NFC. Seems we have to switch the branch of NXP-NFC libs in our code base from LA.UM.5.5 to LA.UM.5.7. Not sure if it will break any earlier device such as OP3.

You're right. Calling may have some issue.
OnePlus' binaries and open-sourced framework changes for telephony are full of ****s, so I used binaries from Xiaomi 6 which are considered clean. But seems they still have compatibility issue.
Yes Bluetooth is working great! One thing I noticed, I can't seem to control earpiece volume during calls. Are you seeing this as well?
For nfc we can test, I have a lot of friends with OP3 so it'll be easy to confirm :good:

The earpiece volume that I mentioned above, is that related to this or something different?

[Discussion] Dirty Unicorns DU 12 Hammerhead (8.1) [Development Hult]

DU just released first batch of official Oreo builds and Nexus 5 is lucky to be on 1st line as DU is first one from major custom ROMs league to release official Oreo for hammerhead after testing beta builds for months.
Since DU guys don't officially host/discuss on XDA I'm creating this thread as discussion thread for XDA DU enthusiasts to keep it organised and help each other, be inform this is no way official support thread.
All bug reports (with proper logs) and feature request should go to DU's JIRA
Create Account and Select Project as Android-8.x DU12
You are Not allowed to share any Direct Links regarding DU builds in this thread. (DU maintainers has asked for same in past so we should respect their decision and go to Official G+ for links)
Please follow above rules as Nexus 5 now has only handful of official Maintainers and we don't want to lose them due to mischief of few members.
A simple Google search will also give you,

Have you tried formatting to ext4? It was needed for RC builds. Not sure if its required for official build. Also what twrp version are you using?
I'm using it and it's really good. I switched over to ext4 on all my partitions a while ago so maybe that's the cause of the bootloop the above poster is experiencing.
I also wrote a guide for using it with NanoDroid: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=75835165&postcount=2692

I have the same issue. I haven't tried any other camera apps though.
It flashed and booted fine for me, didn't have to do anything special. Used nano opengapps.
Battery life is great, best of the 8.1 ROMs I've tried. So far everything is smooth and works fine, except camera fc's. Easy enough to flash a working camera, which I did.
Very happy with this, and appreciate the maintainer for his work on hammerhead.
My Report :
Default Camera FCs (You can use Google camera with Magisk Mod to get HDR+ working ) (Already reported to DU team on Jira, You can add your logcat)
Video still feels shaky and unclear on Google camera
Overall Smooth and silk ROM with Handful of nice features. :good:
On comparison with Nougat..well it's still not as stable but hey it's just 1st release.
Just flashed this and my lord its fast and I lobe the boot animation 1st time I've used DU.
#staydirty
Well... just flashed this ROM. Oreo? Yeah!
But... There are some problems. The biggest one: bluetooth. I explore every angle of they posts on G+, official site, and download sections: nobody mention about bluetooth problems. I have a little headset, and now audio during calls is simply TERRIBLE. I know the issue is famous out there, but I hoped that a "stable" release of DU will not have this kind of bug... I can survive for some time, but if nothing will be fixed, I prefer go back to a "stable" Nougat...
Other problem? I had to change/override the camera app. I just found this and install it. Just delete any data of the app and cache, reboot if it doesn't work:

I actually really dislike that animation: too complex and not fully "fluid". Outro is REALLY long. I switched to a pixel boot animation

apkmirror has one that another thread recommended as the last Google camera that works well for N5, it's 3.2.045. No link, I just went to apkmirror and found it. That worked for me.
However, I just checked another camera I have now that's working, and it's 4.2.035, and I'm not sure where I got it from, maybe from another Oreo rom. apkmirror probably has that one, too.
New RC is up..Unfortunately clean flash is required as it's RC and not official release so Signature change:good:
Currently using Unlegacy 8.1 but it lacks quick charging. Does DU supports it?
Should I switch to DU or RR or DarkROM for best battery/performance?

It's a stock stable rom , flash and enjoy.. :fingers-crossed:
This is the best MIUI Rom for mi max 2! Quickcharge is the only thing missing.
This firmware used pure android (Q)
The firmware is really gorgeous, everything works without complaint, the only problem is that I cannot control the volume of music through my xiaomi headphones. On the autonomy should be ok, I recently changed the battery, and then put the original, how it will behave will show time, but on a pure android with not very active use the phone survived until the evening. I think that with active use the battery will be a little faster to sit down, but it needs to be tested. Thanks to everyone who worked on this firmware, the only normal firmware for our device. My respect to you all
Feature request for next version:
Option to use full screen gestures and disable hw buttons. i was able to install an app to accomplish this but better if already integrated.
Looking forward to repacked MIUI a10.
upload some screenshots
I will be very grateful , if u share some Rom ScreenShots .. thanks
Battery will be similar to stock Android or any custom rom

About the issues of headphone buttons not working , I am looking forward to it , hope I get some solution to fix that in next built ,
As it not work on any pie custom rom..
You get almost 10+ hours of normal use and in gaming you get 5-6 hours almost, as we tried to give you a very better performance in games.. but I assure you battery will meet your expectations..

I can't really commit for MIUI A10 , as no kernel we have to support that properly..
But I will assure you that next build we on MIUI 12 , and it have the same stability.. as Android version not matters allot on MIUI, still we try our best.. enjoy the rom..
As per the full screen gesture feature: you can enable it . But it cause a round corner glitch , we don't want to add any glitch to rom so we decided to remove it.. but if you want you can get it..
Go to settings , then TEJAS TOOL,
Built.prop editor , you see qemu.hw.mainkeys-1 , change it to 0
You get full screen gesture also hw button will work :silly:

Am interested in this too. Since after extracting rom on pc and looking closer there are lot of chinese apks and spy services. This rom say debloat but there is so much chinese unessential bloat and apks which isnt required. Also there are port signatures of mido and chiron. Many modules from china and third party was used which is full bloat. Also tejas tools in settings is actually just renamed. Its a module made by someone else he just put his name there. A very messy bloated port which has all china **** active for spying. Disappointed. Ill stick to custom pie or miui N or wait for other clean port. Kanged work that too messy. Shame

Now give one proof of your statement that there are "spy services". Come on. We'll discuss the rest after you give exact proof for that.
Find one app that is "bloat" for you.
There are port signatures from both chiron and mido. What's the problem with that? Are there any rules that one port must be made only from a single base rom? Grow up!
Are you even a developer? Then how do you jugde that there unwanted files in the rom? You just prove that there are no limits to your jealousy. That's all. Shame at you!

Everyone was shocked by this news of Mi Browser, which is a mistake in Xiaomi's side. The same browser was used for a long time by many of the people.
Keeping Mi Browser in the ROM, doesn't mean that we are intensionally trying to "hack" you or smthg like that.
Prove that the devs mentioned in the post including me has integrated some malware as told by @vadistar
If proved, i'll stop development once and for all.
I have been in xda for 2 years and not once tried to cheat anyone.
A very bad port by a very bad dev. Shame on you and your work. You can decieve others but not me
Regarding proof there are apks unwanted like china telecom apk china ai apk yellowpage analytics etc in the rom. Open the zip file and search every folder there are many such apks especially in data and system and app folders.
Beware others. Xiaomis spys on you as mentioned in the above link regarding browser. There are many such spy apps. After installing use packet inspection. Traffic is incoming and outgoing to china servers. Who know what they do with your data. This never happens with custom miui roms like Xiaomi.eu and MiRoom they remove all spy stuff. These guys didnt remove and are blaming and decieving users.
There is also no vendor source available and kernel source is outdated and incorrect. MODERATORs please have a look.
I wont reply to OP again this is my final message. Goodbye

To all those Mi Max 2 users. You guys can listen to this guy if you want. I think he is the detective investigating the xiaomi spies. @vadistar You don't pay me for the work I do. Don't be so judgemental if you can't be helpful to anyone here.
People can easily understand that @vadistar has the intension just to remove all devs from the community.
I wanted the Mi Max 2 community not to perish because Xiaomi dropped support for us. People like @vadistar is the reason that many good devs are leaving this community. They insult and humiliates us.
Moreover, I have built many other MIUI Roms as well as AOSP custom roms. No one else has ever accused me of tricking the users.
