Front Camera Quality

Hey everyone,
Is someone able to speak to the quality of the front camera on these? I have the HD 8, the front camera is advertised as "HD" (probably 2 MP) and performs surprisingly well.
I'm curious about the quality of the front camera on the 7. It's advertised as VGA, so probably .3 MP. I've used some of the low end Dragon Touch tablets with .3 MP front cameras and the quality is *terrible*, it easily took 5+ seconds to focus on anything. But part of that could be the camera app, the manufacturer of the sensor itself or something else to do with the quality of the hardware.
At $150, the HD 8 isn't prohibitively expensive, but it would be nice to get away with the $50 7 instead. The main functionality I'm looking for is whether it's able to focus in and scan a QR code (version 2 density) quickly.
Thanks!
Just tried it. The front camera takes the photo fast enough, but the image is very smudgy and a bit too high contrast. It's VGA. It would be ok for video chat in a well lit environment but not for much else. If you're one of those 'selfie' types, you'll want a different camera.
The 2mp camera on the back seems to be a bit better, but then it should be. Needs to be changed to 4:3 to use the full sensor, as it defaults to 16:9. The HDR mode improves picture quality by a fair margin. Especially unintentionally overexposed ones. As with all these cheapo cameras you will have to hold the whole device still to get a clear shot.
Neither camera is anything special and I'd say both are below average. The 1.9mp camera in my Samsung Gear smartwatch is leaps and bounds above the image quality of this Asus Fire tablet and it's 2 years older with a similar lens size.
The app for the camera does the job but is very basic with few options to change.

About Pixel Binning in the rear 20 MP sensor

Is there any way to capture images from the rear 20 MP sensor without pixel binning in daylight? I believe the pixel binning smudges the details a lot. When I use the low light lens from the manual mode in daylight, the details and the overall quality is much lower than the rear 12 MP camera. Is there any way to use the 20 MP sensor without Xiaomi's algorithms?

16mp tele saving photos at a reduced 12.2mp

Has anyone else noticed when shooting with the telephoto lens at 2x the pixel 4 (I have the XL) is savings photos at a reduced 12.2mp? The sensor is supposed to be 16mp. Why are the images being saved at reduced quality? I've climbed through the settings to include developers' options with no way to save at full 16mp resolution. Am I missing something here?

It is 16mp. But it's just using that sensor for the zoom amongst other things. But the image will still be 12.2mp. Kinda like Huawei's 40mp sensor giving you 10mp images. It's not a reduced quality, the images are still beautiful and we'll printable if that's your thing.

It only uses the centre 12MP of the sensor by design. When you digitally zoom in that is what happens on all sensors - you only use a small part of the whole sensor.

I've been a photographer since the 80's learning on film and progressing to digital. I've owned the Canon 5D versions 1,2,3, and 4. The 1DX mark 1 and 2 and currently shoot with a Sony a9 and A7RIII. I understand crop fully; that's why I was asking if it's a 16mp sensor, and they are saving it at 12.2, then something is going on in the background. I was doing Google searches without getting any info on this. I was trying to figure out what Google was doing in the background. So basically, what your saying is the telephoto lens was going to crop in on a 12.2 mp sensor, so they went with a higher density 16mp sensor to ensure a quality photo in the end. Basically keep both the standard and telephoto quality uniformed, got it thanks ?

GoPro Max Lens Mod *.*

ITA (SUB ENG)
Hi guys, today I'm talking about the Max Lens, a Mod for the GoPro Hero 9.
Thanks to the wide field of view of this lens we will be able to make the most of the GoPro stabilization while still having an ultra wide-angle FOV.
But the amazing thing is the 360 ° horizon leveling

Question x90 pro plus front camera (Selfie)

I have a question , the x90 pro plus have the AUTOFOCUS on the front camera (selfie camera) ?
No it doesn't. Also the 2x camera has no autofocus.
Only main camera, ultrawide and 3.5x have autofocus.

my ex x70 pro+ had autofocus on all rear cameras ( ultrawide , wide , 2x and 5x camera) Only the front camera didn't have autofocus, like x90 pro plus ... Bad news for me

Wtf are you talking
Main lens and ultra wide and also 3.5 all of these have auto focus only the 10x lens does not have it
Haha, first show me the 10x lens.... Then try again focussing if you like with manual focus and see which lenses exist and which have autofocus...

Dude, are you simple? He obviously means that you can't double tap to manual focus when using the 10x zoom. It just doesn't work. For 2x it does work.
I retried the 2x lens focus - now it's working. So sorry I was wrong about that. But before the trial update it clearly wasn't working in the gcam mods - I'm not finding them anymore right now - but focus was missing in camera2 api and some screenshots of that should still float around here - and I cannot bother with the stock camera too much anymore - I really hate both colour modes so I use gcam mainly now.
If the 3x zoom lens has autofocus, then a digital crop of it (10x) must have autofocus too. Simple, or do I need to dig deeper?
I checked on gsmarena and NOW , it show that ALL LENS on the rear of x90 pro plus have Autofocus
50.3 MP, f/1.8, 23mm (wide), 1.0"-type, 1.6µm, Dual Pixel PDAF, Laser AF, OIS
64 MP, f/3.5, 90mm (periscope telephoto), 1/2.0", 0.7µm, PDAF, OIS, 3.5x optical zoom
50 MP, f/1.6, 50mm (telephoto), 1/2.4", 0.7µm, AF, 2x optical zoom, OIS
48 MP, f/2.2, 14mm, 114˚ (ultrawide), 1/2.0", 0.8µm, AF
I had checked before opening this topic and it indicated 2x lens "NO AF"
For the selfie (front) is confimed that not have AF ... Bad
"No autofocus" is not bad. It means that it's a fixed focus lens. That's a special type of lens where a relatively wide range is always in focus. For a selfie camera, that's an advantage, because the subjects in selfies are usually within the same range and the camera does not need time to focus. No danger of missing the right moment (eyes closed etc.) or getting blurred images because of missed autofocus. Therefore the fixed focus lens is a better choice.
For me is bad ... My ex ex p40 pro have AF with 32mpx on front camera , my ex vivo x70 pro plus have 32mpx with no AF on front camera , the front camera of x90 pro plus is the same of x70 pro plus (Samsung S5KGD2 sensor)
Overall quality is quite low vs p40 pro , on the front camera ... For me
