It's very nice off you to advertise this nice phone to us but the best advertisment Huawei/Honor could give itself here on XDA is make it easier for people to get the unlock code for their bootloader instead off making it harder like they're doing right now.

What phone are you coming from? Why the P9?

I use a LG G3, 2 years later, looking at LG G5... Its ugly, smaller screen, no back buttons, no wireless charging, disappointed, so... now looking at P9 Plus as the best phone out there... Where are you coming from? And why the interest in the P9?

P9 plus will be expensive..
For me apealing features :
64gb+4gb+DualSim+IrBlaster+5.5InchScreen+FingerprintReader+DualSpeakers
(Other main features are add on for me ?? )
Like force touch+3400mAh+price+......
ALL THESE TOGATHER....finally!!!
Is there any phone with same or more features combined
Yes there was a phone with almost same features. ...HTC ONE ME but screen little small and Zero development.... so sad
Hope P9 Plus will get good support from Devs here in XDA
I am interested in the P9 Plus or the HTC 10, I'll be coming from a HTC M9+, I am also interested in the big screen, IR and stereo speakers. I just worry about the speediness of Huawei on OS upgrades. Not sure the P8 has officially got Marshmallow everywhere yet, so Lord knows when you'd get Android N with the P9 or P9 Plus

Totally agree, this is like the phone I've been waiting for since I got my G2. Unfortunately to me the 3rd party dev support is what's gonna make it or break it...
I've been a loyal BlackBerry user for as long as I've had a smartphone: 9000, 9800, Z10, Z30 and currently Passport. Unfortunately even I've had to admit that BB10 is in it's final death throes. I flirted with the Sony Xperia S between the 9800 and the launch of the Z10 and the 3rd party ROM development was a big attraction. However the spec of the P9 Plus ticks all the boxes and coupled with the fact that I'm a Leica owner anyway, the draw (gimmick) of the Leica tie in, means that even without the ROM development the P9+ is likely to be my next phone.
Do any of you know when this is coming to NA?

I'll thinking about the P9 Plus, G5 or HTC M10 .
So sick of Samsung with it's crapphones that going to die after mostly 1.5-2 years . Happend to my s3, s4, s5 active and now my Note 4 - after 3 months.
I hate this company at all.

Planning to come from Note 2... if everything goes well... especially price and dev support.

I hope the dev community gets even a little support, because I plan to come from a ZTE Axon Elite, the Mate 8 has a decent amount of dev support including ROM's and stuff so hopefully the P9 Plus does too. Other than that, the AMOLED display, the faster more efficient processor, bigger battery, and (hopefully) better camera are drawing me over my current device, I would highly doubt audio is better though.
I am coming from windows phone

Here are a few articles on P9/Plus.
==>
weak:
-****ty default UI & bloatware
-camera is decent but not breaking headlines
good:
apart from the weakness, all is superb
==>
so if someone from xda released an excellent and stable custom rom 6 month after release, this will fix the ****ty UI and bloatware problem, and the phone shall be one of the best on the market. Yes?!
If so i'm gonna make the switch from my iphone 6 plus
Have a Sony Z2 since release and searching for a new phone. I am interested in the camera, big memory and battery. Seems like a great phone! Hope the "bugs" will be fixed like battery drain and something with the SD-card not being able to behave like internal memory (please correct me).
Only a month left until I am able to buy a P9 plus. Oh, it is not shipped with the possibility to use 2 sims here in Sweden.

I came from an iPhone 6s plus and i must add that im blown away by the speed and smoothness of this phone.
Another thing to consider is the sustained performance that the phone can deliver, i haven't noticed any throttle after 1+ hours of gaming.

My concern are Android updates

I think the specs for the OnePlus Three for the price are AMAZING and unbelievable, it's almost $150 less than the Nexus 6P, with 2016 flagship hardware, and the leaked pictures show it to be a very high quality crafted device. The new Three looks like a larger HTC 10, which is fine by me, as the 10 is a great smartphone.
But...
My biggest gripes with OPO are the slow Android updates. I recall Lollipop taking for god damn ever to officially make it out for the original One, like 6 months, or you could have installed the alpha CM11 at the time, which was pretty buggy until the bugs were worked out, obviously, but the official OnePlus One Lollipop OS update took a very long time.
This OnePlus Three will be lucky to see Android N within 90 days after the Nexus phones get it first in October, or you can install the alpha CM14 sooner on it, and live through all the kinks and bugs, that will have, while waiting for OPO to release N.
I thought one of the big features on these OPO phones being AOSP based, would have been super fast Android updates, not Nexus fast updates obviously, but at least faster than the skinned versions of Android like HTC, LG, Samsung, etc... but that hasn't been the case. I thought OnePlus would have the latest version of Android on them within like 30 days or so after Nexus phones, in reality they are worse than Samsung.
Bottom line; Great flagship hardware for a budget price. Beautiful design.
But...software is really amateur for an official professional phone release. I'd rather Cyanogen be back on board creating a stable pro CM13S for this phone. Oxygen OS still seems like some weekend development project.
OnePlus came late with their Android6.0 update for the OP2, so I share your concerns.
But the custom development for the OP3 will be great, so many ROMS there before the official updates.
And many other brands are also slow with updates, or even slower. (not an excuse for OnePlus )
I will go for the OP3 because:
to go for a device with guaranteed faster updates you limit your device choice, you will most likely pay a lot more, and the specs won't be much better, and the XDA development will most likely be worse.
So (expecting) slow updates is a legit disadvantage, but it doesn't win from the advantages in my opinion.
Good points thanks
Now let's see some real hands on reviews. How good is the AMOLED screen being in 1080p ? Is the build quality as high and great like HTC 10 ? Speaker sounds ? Feel in hand ?
I know hardware wise it's gonna be a champ.
I guess you did not see the news?
http://www.xda-developers.com/oxygenos-open-sourced-ahead-of-oneplus-3-launch/
Will that news get us Android N much faster ? I wanna see the OnePlus Three get Android N like 30 days after the Nexus phones, then i impressed.
I just got the one plus two yesterday, found out about the 3 two days after I ordered, ugh. No worries though, I believe it will be released by the 14th and that is well within my return period!
I can't even explain how cool just the box it comes in is! This is quality I would pay s7 prices for, hands down. I keep looking around for cops every time I pick up the phone, feels like I stole it! But seriously, the OTA's don't bother me a bit, they'll get here when they get here! I feel like the development here on xda will be enough to tide someone over until we get a proper image. I feel like this OP3 is going to be the banger for one plus all together.
The 1080p question the OP had, I honestly feel like that's just a marketing ploy by the big boys, can the naked eye really tell on a phone, even this size? For me personally, I don't notice anything! I honestly think you'll be able to look past both of those once you feel the box...lol!
Sent from my ONE A2005 using XDA-Developers mobile app
while we all are at xda, i don't really care about update from OP. You bet - the very first custom ROM will be available in weeks from June 14th and android N will be on OP# in days.
As someone who has paid top dollar for Samsung flagship phones, all I can say is that updates are slow here, too - maybe even slower than Oneplus .
Sent from my SM-N910U using Tapatalk
obviously it will be slower getting ota's compared to nexus devices. but the op3 should have a good dev community so i wouldn't worry.

I wouldn't count on that. The oneplus team is very small and it took them longer than lg and Samsung to release marshmallow.

Another Year Another 1+

Right now I'm using OP5T. Thought of buying 6T but after looking at the vivo nex, I've attracted by it's design. BBK is a brand which owns the Vivo, Oneplus and Oppo. And the launch of OP7 is just weeks away with the design which I was expecting it to be. And I'm a guy who doesn't like selfies not gonna use the popup camera a lot so no worries about the mechanical part in my phone.

I'm a user that came from the 6T to the NEX S Global. It's a great phone, gorgeous if you ask, however 1+'s OS is way better and VIVO's update is really slow, also you can't unlock the bootloader. We're still on Android 8.1 while the chinese version is already on Pie.
It's a great phone, I really enjoy it, but I'll probably go the 7 Pro because I'm afraid how VIVO will handle future updates.

An Oxygen OS from Oneplus, you can get a smooth Android experience. And Still you can experience the stock android with some additional features in Oxygen OS. I never used that Color OS and all.
I'm a user both Vivo Nex S from last summer and 2.5 months I'm owed also Dual display as well.
Chinese version both of them.
I'm really enjoying both phones never bothered me ios style Funtouch and I really appreciate many features and customization option offer natively that Oxygen does not offer.
With Pie Vivo offer much more customization with AOD that Oxygen not ever had.
Also maintain battery saver mode with location while oxygen removed badly that option.
Also Vivo offers saperate notification sound alarm from ringing soung alarm very convenient and useful feature always appreciated when using Samsung devices.
Also one great feature is the dynamic lockscreen magazine with very rich wallpapers each time go lock screen you get wonderful and high quality photos.
To me Vivo of screen gestures works much better and user friendly than Oxygen does.
As long you setup the phone properly(removed Chinese bloatware very easily through setting menu that Vivo let you uninstalled almost everything, and some other stuff through adb) you are gone enjoy super smooth experience, exceptional stability and comfort and great battery performance.
Never had issue with notification as well as long uninstalled Vivo battery management witch is very aggressive and give all permission to app to work in background as by default Vivo is killing them.
The only benefits of Oxygen compared to Vivo or Oppo is the ability of rooting your device and all the potential open with that freedom.
For example I'm a big fan of substratum themes and testing several mod, tweak and custom rom and one of the basic reasons of buying oneplus 7 pro.
I really like have under full control the software experience.
Of course I'm buying it because I like full screen experience without any stupid notch or punch holes that I hate and never had issue with pop up camera (actually rarely I'm using front facing camera so I prefer being always hidden)
And of course the huge battery capacity of 4000 and the very promising new screen are all give me extra motivation of purchasing 7 Pro.
So as you can see I'm big fan of BBK group and their smartphone and prefer it over Samsung or Huawei devices as it's closest to my needs much more and really like of testing new design approach offering with unique character

I'm totally disagree for smoothness experience, both skins are the same.
Never experienced any lag with Funtouch or loosing smoothness over time.

As for copying ios it's matter of personal preferences only.
Some people like it some others not.

What issue are you facing??
I often wonder if people who complain about FP readers know that you can register the same thumb/finger multiple times for better detection. 5 digits can be registered and they don't all have to be different.
Mines absolutely bloody fantastic as well. Can't complain.
can't complaint, man

Will Huawei offer unlocking bootloaders again due to the ban?

We all know it sucked when Huawei stopped offering their bootloader unlocks a while back, but now with the US ban and their plans of releasing a OS of their own do you guys think there's a chance they'll start offering unlocking bootloaders to their older products as a incentive to have them install their new one?
If not then my P20 Pro is gonna end up being a paperweight fairly shortly I fear...
The new os might come to p20 pro too.
But hey, i think they will since people will return their phones thus loosing profit. Soooo

Considering the range of their products and how many are in circulation I suppose it would make sense to offer the option atleast
I don't think huawei will worry about customers who have already paid for their handsets.
Question is how many of you would consider buying another huawei device. Speaking for myself...I wouldn't. Possibility to unlock bootloader wouldn't make much difference when we're out of regular android updates.

If they are making their own OS variant with their own marketplace then having as many users migrate over to it as possible is beneficial to their spying services
A new OS is the least of Huawei's problems. UK's ARM has cut ties with them now. No ARM = no Kirin chipset. US trade war is kind of getting out of control. Spying, as most people are lead to believe has yet to be proven in the 7 years it first came up. However, shady business practice is a different thing.
Let's just wait and see, this is a political and commercial issue, negociations will happen shortly, I am not worried, service will resume.

I hope they ditch Android for their os. It would be much better imo, since it will also support android apps so what is the reason to keep android if your os will be much better?
With prices on Huawei and Honor phones taking a beating, I was hoping to pick up a cheap one, unlock its bootloader and install Lineage or other Android distro.
Sadly, looks like H have blocked the opportunity

Sadly yes, if they kept on with their previous policy on that matter, it would be easier to maintain. I had the chance to have had an unlocked unit on lineage which was working great, and was faster. I lost it and got a new one, but locked without any hope to get it unlocked. But this phone ages well anyways, and one can uninstall or disable many many apps, which makes the phone more responsive. Also, it will unfold well, is just an unfortunate trade move but it will get well.
Tbh EMUI is very optimised for the cpu.
If huawei's new os had the deep intergration style of IOS, you can say goodbye to custom roms.
I mean EMUI as rn is very fluid and fast and i see no reason to change roms(even tho they locked the bootloader)

You've never seen an OnePlus fluidity . Got an 3t at a bargain price. 4 years old and is more fluid than p20 pro .

Sacrifice features over fluidity, not really my cup of tea. But still, i am waiting for what Huawei will come up with.
Personally I think there is far too much money involved in all this for Huawei to just go under.
The biggest issue is the CPU, every Android device is based on arm and as arm have pulled their contracts with Huawei, Huawei for the moment at least are on borrowed time, they'll have a stock pike but due to the nature of arm, they can't even make their own chip as it'll use arms architecture and that can't happen as arm will sue, problem with that is, even if they did make a chip, they'd have to get developers to develop for it and as it stands everyone makes for arm. Lol it's impossible, very clever on the person who is pulling the strings part.
That being said, it won't last, they'll negotiate and it'll be resolved, as it was with ZTE from sanctions in Iran against the US.
The long and short of it is just money, the US wants to tax that Huawei ass a little bit, as well as show them who's boss.
Then everyone will be happy.
As for the bootloader, I would say a resounding no, looking at Huawei, they've gone totally Apple now, going for their own OS too (they were anyway)
Plus the Chinese variant didn't have the play store to begin with so they're half way there.
I can't see them ever offering bootloader keys ever again, which is fine for them, but the way they went about it was abysmal.
The phones they used to make were sub standard and weak with lots of issues and most techies avoided them like the plague then they teamed with XDA and it's users, got some great press and buzz from XDA users, not to mention our influence and started banging out some decent phones.
Then they pulled the rug out and essentially closed their doors on any kind of loyalty there was to the true modders, developers and enthusiasts of Android, shocking.
The will almost certainly not go bust, but for what they've done and how they've held themselves, to me and many other users on here who like to root and tinker, they may as well not exist any more..
Shame as they we going in a good direction.
Ah well. One plus time.
Rant over.....

I agree Vs emui, but I'm running AOSIP on the p20 pro and it's ridiculously smooth, would still prefer a OnePlus tho.
Getting the 7pro very soon.

Well, what features exactly ?
Decision of giving bootloader unlock codes again will lead to that consequences:
-part of their userbase will turn to open-source OSes
-due to their beign as second top manufacturer that part will be large in numbers
-that will hit Google's positions in userbase of standard Android (system and services).
That looks like win-win situation for Huawei, except they want to move that switching userbase to themselves and their new OS.
So I doubt Huawei will decide to make world better. It's just business.

Does it come with a paper that says You got scammed?
Yeah i would not trust any bootloader unlock methods that require cash.

So No Android 10 EVER for the Red Magic 3/3S? That's kind of Bull$hit.

I've owned 2 Red Magic 3 devices. Not dissatisfied with my purchases, aside from some annoying software choices like lack of gesture navigation, etc. But I'm surprised that there aren't more people here talking about the fact that the Red Magic 3/3S will NOT be getting a single major software update to Android 10. The Red Magic 5G Global version has been sent to numerous YouTube reviewers and it comes with Android 10. Doesn't seem like it would be that difficult to get it running on the 3/3S. But I guess when you pay bare bones prices, you can't expect software support. Latest security patch released for the RM3 USA model was dated August, 2019. PATHETIC.
I've been thinking of the same off late, bar rm3 which released last May, it would still be very unfair on their latest release rm3s which had only update patch.
Even if we leave behind the major updates, nubia is still so bad at releasing security patches for rm3/3s.
For what we've paid, we definitely cannot compromise on the software with xiaomi and asus offering much better support for their respective black shark and rog phones. Would never come back to nubia again.
Hahaha

FYI the Android 10 on the RM5G has issues and the phone flat out sucks. I have had it for a while now. It will be the worse gaming phone of 2020.

This brand is garbage!
Nubia Never Again!
You should probably go cry somewhere else. I don't want Android 10. I didn't update to 9 on my old Oneplus 6. And I am not updating to Windows 10.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Can you give any more details? Just curious what issues you are having with their Android 10 build. I've seen some YouTube reviews on the device and it seemed to work ok for the most part.

No updates of security patch or Android version.
Impossible to talk to them, they release phones and then forget about them.
Don't make this mistake again.
Switch form ONEPLUS to Nubia what a quality difference, support and updates.
Happy Eastern...
Look up trigger problems. It's very well documented across pretty much every phone they sell with triggers.
OnePlus has crap quality as well. They just atleast atemp to fix stuff. Nubia at best may sell about 10,000 units total per device. Probably lower but the amount they sell is nothing. From some sales numbers no can tell you on eBay the ROG2 sold 8 to 1 vs the RM3S month to month. You get what you pay for. They won't ever release that update because if they do there is absolutely no reason to buy the RM5G.

They literally updated the phone 3 times until every bug was fixed to their, and my, satisfaction.
Remember that this is a gaming phone. And what do you expect from it? It doesn't need to be running the latest android versions.
What it needs is stability.

Yeah? How are the navigation gestures working for you??? Oh wait... THERE ARE NONE! Because this feature which is BAKED INTO Android Pie doesn't work on this phone! They force you to use the antiquated 3 button navigation! This is just one of a ton of issues.

Funny you should ask, bro. I was just considering buying a Realme X50 Pro 5G for my gf, and I had to google if the navigation buttons were available in Android 10. Thankfully, they are. Enjoy your stupid gestures, I'll stick with my buttons. They are far superior to your gestures - instead of swiping, I can... gasp, click! Instead of swiping and holding, I can... gasp, click! Maybe I am just lazy - do more with less effort.

Yep. And enjoy the fact that you're getting way less screen real estate since your buttons will be occupying it. ??

Hah. Real estate, eh? I put things to make me comfortable on my real estate.
Speaking of real estate. Do you know why you would even have "more" screen real estate on your phone? Around the time of Galaxy s8, 2016-2017 or so, phone manufacturers started to remove physical navigation buttons on phones. So they changed the screen aspect ratio from a standard 16:9 to something longer, 19:9 or so, to add more space for software buttons.
So you see, the reason why you even have more estate is because it was designed to contain those navigation buttons.
To this date, I don't really use or know any apps that can benefit from that space in any significant way. Even in landscape mode, RM3 puts the software buttons on the long side, where they were designed to go in the first place.

Problem with Nubia is they are not community driven. What OnePlus did good was listening to customer reviews, suggestions and doing something for it.
Being gaming phone doesn't mean this brand can't give basic things. No security patches, No bug fixes, No fixes to their own gaming software.
Worst phone launch preps in India: I was not able to buy official accesories in India like Back cover, Docker not even Front screen protector. Bought everything from Ali express.
I have sent tones of emails to Nubia regarding bugs and trigger issues (it still is an issue on my phone), but there is no issue acknowledgment.
I even remember when they launched `Red magic time` I notified them with issues and they said there was no software release from their side.
Being a gaming phone it doesn't even do what it's built for (except for good thermals due to fan). Let me list some of them out -
Game Space (Gamer oriented stuff) -
1. It is built to enable fan, set performance, it doesn't let me record using red magic time when I want (crappy auto record feature). And it doesn't even record my in game voice (great thing for a gamer right?).
2. I have the 12 GB ram version of RM3, and when I start recording frame rate of game drops so bad that it makes me doubt that my other 6 gb ram might be watching pornhub in the background. (So no recording, for better fps. Good for gamer).
3. Trigger problems have made me disable it, not only it starts auto firing but clicking on my screen anywhere makes my trigger touch. Screen becomes hang (great for gamers i guess).
4. In game space, sometimes I am not able to open my notification panel, regardless of pulling it down with all my 10 fingers.
Camera (is not for gamers right?) -
1. I think they good hardware, but their software is the worst (and their excuse is it is gaming phone).
2. Slow motion recording, enabling it makes camera dark AF!!
Android auto -
Even smaller phones like Nokia support it but not Nubia (guess what it's a gaming phone)
Lock screen -
In a day or 2 my phone shows lock on my phone which I can't unlock with my correct pin, re-start is required.
Navigation -
Having no navigation gestures is not a deal breaker for me but no customisation for chaging position of buttons is what makes me sad. I think it was available in my OnePlus One which ran on kitkat.
Android Updates -
Every manufacturer usually follows a 18 months update cycle, where user expects software updates. Its not just about latest Android, what I expect is bug fixes, performance tweeks for games or community driven changes. (Which according to me Nubia is far away from).
Overall, I expected a lot of good things but was let down. Will not be recommending Nubia to anyone (which I was proud to, for OnePlus).
