Dual Sim Question

Hi all, I'm thinking of upgrading to a note 9, my question is are all note 9 dual sim? does the hardware support it. My retailer said that the note 9 in their store does not support dual sim. I'm wondering if the hardware supports it will a custom rom enable dual sim functionality?
Thanks

With the exynos version probably. The note 8 exynos single sim version could be converted I think to dual SIM . But it requires an additional imei for that . Which last I checked wasn't possible or done on these forums.

If purchased from Samsung direct then it should be dual sim.
Ok thanks for clearing this up.

The second IMEI might be the stumbling block. It is possible the Exynos model supports the 2nd Sim. You just need to change the Sim tray and somehow get the second IMEI.

If we have another IMEI from another spare phone, is there a way to add that into the single sim phone? Thanks.

The unlocked Snapdragon variant I had was NOT dual sim capable.
The Exynos 512GB version I currently have is dual sim and has two IEMIs.
I suppose it could be possible to use dual sim cards on a single IEMI device however you could not have both radios active at the same time.

Xiaomi MI9 China Edition supports Band 20

Hi Guys,
reffering to the below blog the Mi9 China version supports LTE Band 20
https://www.chinamobilemag.de/news/xiaomi-mi-9-china-band-20-lte.html
That would be pretty cool so european users can buy a chinese Explorer Edition or the 8/256 GB China versions too without lacking Band 20 Support.
I have just bought China version one yesterday, hoping to support B20, but surprise me it seems not having B20.
I refer to Mi website itself does not support B20,
China version: https://www.mi.com/mi9/specs/
Global version: https://www.mi.com/global/mi9/specs/
Without a proper screenshot of Network cell info application with band 20 working, i don't trust him.
how we can check this?

Someone with the Chinese device would have to download LTE discovery from the Play Store & see if the mast they connect to supports band 20, & see if they connect to it..

I think you need to change the title, all information we have so far suggests that it doesn't support Band 20, including Xiaomi's official website.
The 2 latest devices from them, Pocophone & Mix 3 both have hardware locked Band's so it seems flashing Global would be useless too.
I think the blog is wrong...

only having the phone in hand (8GB version at this point, since it's the only difference from other users with 6GB and B20 LTE not working) and under B20 only network coverage.

You could try this app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.simplyadvanced.ltediscovery
Not sure if your carrier supports Band 20 or not, this is something you'd have to find out from them I believe, or Google.

You don't need root, as long as you give it permissions it will work fine

Try this one
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wilysis.cellinfolite
you can use Cellular-Z from Playstore.
it shows the network you are currently connected to at the top and all other networks that your phone detects at the bottom.
you can also switch between both sim cards (slots at the top)
for example in my screenshots it shows that I'm currently using a band 20 network. and there are some others in the area.
both suggested apps are similar but I find cellular z to be more user friendly.
as a side note: I have a Redme note 5 (china) variant that does not have Band 20. the same phone is able to connect to LTE network where I live but it uses a different cell tower B3. you should check your providers cell tower map to see if there are any band 20s in your area.

Mi8 chinese has b20 too, the real problem of this device is carrier aggregation. It aggregates some bands that don't guarantee lte+ in all country

Differences between Redmi K20 and Mi 9T?

Hi,
I'm on the point of buying Redmi K20 Pro
However I noticed the forums here were described as "Redmi K20 and Mi 9T" - so wondered if the two phones were the same (or not) and whether the different names were just to reflect marketing and branding?
Thanks,
Steve

Hi Steve,
Both are the same. K20 Pro is sold as Mi 9T pro as the Global variant.
The only difference is B20 LTE Band
But it may be unlockable in the future

Mi 9t Pro has band 20. This is particularly useful in Europe where it is used extensively.
Also I believe that Mi 9t Pro has Widevine L1 certification not present on K20. Important to some people.

The K20 series is also missing B28, which is significant here in Australia and possibly in other countries.
I hope it's ok to ask in this thread.
What are the differences in the firmware flashing?
I am using it a day right now and Miui is not really what I expected... So I may flash it after Miui 11 comes out.
The Roms are compatible between K20 Pro and Mi 9t Pro? Both are "Raphael"? There is no problem with frequency if I flash a "K20 Pro Rom"?
If I use another Rom, I still can use the three cameras? (My first multi cam phone)

Mi 9 eSIM compatibility

Hi guys,
Thanks for accepting me.
I have a Mi 9 and I was checking around to buy a smartwatch. I was considering the TicWatch 4G/LTE but I'm not sure I'll be able to use an eSIM, as Mi 9 doesn't support this technology? I'm in UK and my provider is EE. Anyone can advise?
Thanks for for helping.
