Bugs in Asus ZMP M1 (601KL) - Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 Guides, News, & Discussio

Okay, so I noticed two bugs in the latest FW (318)
1) In call volume over bluetooth headset is very very low even with max volume (probably 3-4/10). Tried with different bluetooth headsets working with different mobiles. This issue is also being discussed on Asus forum. Disabling aptx or changing audio codec has no effect for me.
P.S.- Songs played through BT are fine, just the in call volume which is very low and full of static.
2) Nght mode (amber reading tint) doesn't turn on/off automatically at Sunset/Sunrise even though the setting is selected.

*Many apps does not work on wifi
*Adaptive brightness is buggy
*Over sensitive fingerprint scanner gives wakelocks while in pocket and drains battery

@Aftab_khatri @Tianhe Does Apps Force Close Sometimes And Does Phone Lag After that?

1) Almost all my apps work on wifi but are definitely slow compared to cellular data (LTE). Then again, the phone currently supports only 2.4 GHz wifi. Software update required for 5GHz.
2) I am on stock rooted ROM with debloat script executed in lite mode for removing useless apps. No FC as such, only got occasional Chrome crashes and unresponsive apps at times. Cleared cache through TWRP and working ok.
3) Adaptive brightness is buggy - again another software issue.
4) FP sensor is super sensitive but no idea about wakelock issues due to this

Confirming:
1. Buugy Ambient Light Sensor.
2. FP sensor is causing Wakelocks sometimes.
3. Apps were force closing (even though I have 6 GB variant)
Other bugs / problems:
1. Standby battery drain is high sometimes.
2. Yellowish screen. And Screen Colour goes back to DEFAULT after reboot.
3. Zen Motion stops working suddenly. S2W doesn't seem to work.
Extras:
1. Live Wallpaper Picker is not there. Install it manually ( ether user app or system app), and it'll crass while choosing live wallpaper.
2. Ambient Display is hidden.

Another bug (although a quick Google search shows that this affects many Oreo devices)
Custom ringtones stop working and incoming calls only vibrate. However, system ringtones work Ok.
A rather quirky fix to this : turn on bluetooth- restart- turn off bluetooth- restart. And it works !

How to check your latest update version ? I can't find it.

Hello friends i have problem with adaptive brightness
Even At very low light the screen brightness is very high
When i put light on light sensor via torch
It starts working and adjust the brightness
Do any of you face this problem
Please confirm

Better than that, use Sysconfig Patcher or Doze for GMS to effectively reduce drain without stopping google services entirely. Of course, Magisk is required so only for rooted devices.

Confirming the adaptive brightness issue.
There is an absence of a feature. The lock screen does not wake up when any notification is received.
Fp sensor is slow and sometimes does not work in first go.

My 6 gb variant shows none of the issues listed here. Even the gcam works perfectly with hdr+ enhanced on both cams. I've also found it working with enabling the nexus 6p model, and the hwhdr thing and others. Also WiFi is smooth no lags, even group playing music on 10 devices with soundseeder works like a charm. Played a lot of heavy games on WiFi multiplayer like nova 3, still no lag or crash. Running build 318.

It seems that the bug of low in call volume over bluetooth headset is back in v327, can anybody check and confirm ?
Edit: My bad, it required a simple wipe of cache+dalvik in recovery to solve the issue

Network issue...Ping is too high

Issues encountered so far

Hi,
I am seriously considering returning this. Its so nearly great but my unit is suffering from the following:
1. Stuck on Android 8 and Feb update. See seperate thread.
2. Touch screen touch sensitivity has some real issues. Scrolling around will occasionally "jump" or reverse direction briefly. I see this a lot on cheaper Android devices.
3. The default notification sound is a ringtone that goes on for 20 seconds approx. I have to change this for every type of notification for every app.. Its maddening.
4. Camera is... meh. Good for the price, but a long way off the top tier.
5. Auto brightness isnt good. Changes too fast, too often. Its all over the place.
UPDATE! 6. Developer Options seem totally broken. Settings dont persist or they do and the UI doesn't remember selections. What a mess.
NOTE - there are lots of positives, but these are well covered elsewhere.
All in all... this feels like any other cheap-ish Android phone. Needs updates, and dont kid yourself that this is the bargain of the century. Its good value, but its clear where compromises have been made.
Lot of bluetooth issues with 8.1. Sound is lagging when paired to my Sony WH-1000XM2. Other devices might loose connection after a while and needing to be re-paired.

2. Is the touchscreen a software issue?
3. Surely there has to be a better way of dealing with this notification ringtone? - Anyone got any ideas?

For 3, I may have solved this myself - there is a default notification sound option which can be changed from the 20 (approx) seconds ringtone. I changed this and still got 1 of the long notifications, but the rest were normal.
As for 2), hopefully this is a software issue. The touch panel has a firmware version which is why I am so keen to get the 8.1 update (as it *may* have a newer version?) as mine is stuck on older software.
I have problems over several apps:
- Instagram no sound in stories
- Snapchat video quality is very very poor and pixilated
- Camera Zoom in Instagram, Snapchat and Whatsapp sometimes works and sometimes not.
- Stock Camera app, sometimes there are glitches when the camera is switching from wide to tele in lowlight.
- Playstore and Recent apps window sometimes lags
Anyone else experiencing those bugs?

I just checked your first 3 issues, I don't have any of them. I didn't notice any glitches with the camera either yet, but I haven't tested it that much. Only thing is the lag when switching between recent apps, Playstore works fine though. Maybe try and clear the cache of the apps you have problems with? Or maybe you didn't update them?

i just found out that my instagram audio is not working when i have my phone in vibration mode instead of ringing mode, although media volume is on max.
As soon as i change into ringing mode the sound in my instastories is working! Should be a software bug, but not sure if from instagram or nokia.
EDIT: are you able to do a smooth zooming in snapchat or only "1 step"? Because after reinstalling the app i was able to fully zoom in, exactly how i am used to it. Afterwards i started the stock camera app tapped the x2 button to zoom in. Then when i went back to snapchat i was only able to zoom "1 step" like i would press the x2 button in the camera app, instead of a continuous zoom.
My volume key temporary disabled after use instagram or some local apps. Uninstall TalkBack help me this. You guys who had trouble with sound should try.
I can agree to some of these issues.
The most annoying by far is the auto brightness. Sometimes when I unlock the phone it turns the brightness all the way down, even when I'm outside. Makes the screen all but unreadable. More interesting is that it makes the adjustment even though the auto-adjustment is turned off.
The bluetooth sound is choppy sometimes.
No complaints on the screen or the camera from me.

Infact uninstalling talkback and a few other useless apps solved my instagram problem with no audio in the stories! Thanks for that hint. :good:

yeah, the auto brightness does not work as good as it should. Just had a 2 hours call with a bluetooth headset and everything was just fine! Maybe you could try a different protocol in the developer settings for bluetooth codec?
Hey everyone !
I received my N7P a few days ago and i noticed that everytime i record a video, this message pops up : "OZO audio is deactivated".
I live in France and this the European model.
Do you have the same problem ?
I noticed that they also removed the face unlock. Any news on that ?
Thanks for the support guys ! :good:

Hey, I am curious about how the WH-1000XM2 sounds in nokia 7 plus. Is it better or worse than your other devices except for the lag?
I'm in the UK, just the received the phone and am also stuck with the 8.0 + Feb security patch. It's saying I'm up to date.
Also, is anyone else's system storage taking up 14GB? Should it be that big? It's already using 22% before I've even installed an app. Tried a factory reset and same thing.

Anyone know how to turn off 'vibration' when you unlock with fingerprint scanner?

Lots of issues after updated to Android 9 Pie (Mi A2)

After my Mi A2 was updated from Android 8 O to Android 9 P, I have to face lots of bugs and some serious issues. Although I already tried factory resetting, it doesn’t help. Many A2 users also face these issues.
1. Portrait Mode – Unable to focus on any other subjects, except a subject in the middle of the frame. That means whenever you touch on the screen to focus, focusing does not work for you at all. This is one of most serious issues for users who love photography.
2. Fingerprint Scan – Significantly slower scanning speed. Very annoying.
3. Screen Brightness Dropping – When I was on Android 8 O, I always adjusted the brightness scale to 30-40% and it’s bright enough. But now, for Android 9 P, I have to slide the scale to 70-80% so I can see the screen clearly. (Adaptive Brightness already turned off)
+++ There's an explanation that this screen brightness change is not a bug. Find out more here: https://forums.androidcentral.com/g...ubt-about-display-brightness-android-pie.html
Thanks @Varun.Shanbhag for the information. +++
4. Heating Issue – I’ve noticed that while charging the phone, when it was on Android 8 O, the temperature never got more than 39°C, but now, on Android 9 P, it sometimes gets to 41°C. (Refer to the app ‘Ampere’)
Moreover, when using camera, it gets hot too quickly.
However, I am not sure if there’s only me facing this overheating issue.
It is likely to be caused by CPU freq. issue stated in the following thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a2/help/little-cpu-stucks-1401-mhz-min-freq-t3851184
5. Touch Screen – Touch screen seems to be less responsive than before. I can notice its latency. Sometimes I have to double tap the screen to get something done, because the first tap does not respond. (It can be easily noticed this issue with back button)
6. Lower Audio Volume – Some users say that they're facing lower audio volume issue when using earphones or headphones.
7. Face ID - Face ID doesn't work stably, it sometimes works and sometimes does not.
8. Front Flash Issue - front flash doesn't work when I turn it on in camera app. (But it works when set it as 'Auto')
9. Black Banding on Camera Screen - There're black bandings appear on the screen while using camera app, they look like signal noise appears on TV.
10. Camera App Crashes - Camera sometimes crashes, for example, the camera app says "Camera Error - Can't connect to camera" when I switch the camera from back to front in Portrait Mode.
11. Whole system seems to be less stable than it was in Android Oreo.
[List last updated: Jan 3, 2019]

I hope all issues will be fixed in the next update.

I'm not sure about beep and screen randomly wake up, but the laggy LED pulse happens to me, that makes me annoyed sometimes ?
I also found that the LED issue has appeared since Android 8 O.
yeah the laggy led looks so cheap and retro like it was used in the last century ???
Hey guys, i just updated to pie December update, and the wifi tethering band locked to 2,4Ghz, any way to enable the 5ghz?
Really considering flashing the custom Pixel Experience ROM. Having a lot of bugs on Pie. Did the factory reset. None of them gone.
Any suggestions ? Should I just go for Custom. Or should I wait for next update ?

Oreo is ok, i have downgrade my phone after some hours using pie. Pie for me it is in early beta.
How can we report about this ?
Gps problems
I'm also having issue with lags. Fingerprint scanner is lagging from time to time.. Overall daily task from switching apps to bring back to home screen also lags.
Disabling adaptive brightness seems to help improve the lag so far...

I just got my Global A2, 4/64 two days ago. Updated to Pie and have Dec Patch.
1) Portrait works fine. I can focus on any part of the scene and that subject will be in focus. Works quickly and reliably.
2) Fingerprint scan is quick with zero issues holding my finger at any angle. No lag whatsoever.
3) I went straight to Pie, so had zero experience with Oreo on the A2, but screen brightness behaves similar to the Moto G5+ that I had before. Adaptive brightness also behaves the same.
4) I never checked the phone with Oreo, but when charging on Pie, the phone feels cool to the touch. Cooler than my Moto G5+. BTW, I am using the OEM Moto QC 3.0 charger with the A2.
5) Touch screen is as responsive as my Moto G5+ and my Wife's Moto G6.
6 and 7) I don't use headphones or Face ID.

Hello
I was on Oréo before and I did not notice any difference in the use with Pie, I am very fond of this version (sorry for English).

Problems I found with my new global variant Red Magic 3!

Hello guys!
I just got my new Red Magic 3 global variant!
I have some problems with this phone that I wanna share with you, maybe you have those as well!
1. Side touch buttons and fingerprint sensor react when touched even outside of gaming mode for example if you touch the side buttons while scrolling in chrome, scrolling becomes very slow and weird or when you touch the buttons on youtube, the youtube reacts like you clicked on the screen and shows the play, next and previous buttons!
2. The CPU usage is very very weird! I tested the cpu usage using the gaming mode and other apps and most of the time its on 80% usage (1760Hz) used or even peaks to 100% usage sometimes!
the phone stutters a bit and I believe that happens when usage is up to 100%
3. Ram managment is very very bad, most of the time I have 3Gb of ram left out of the 8GB
4. missclicking is aweful on this device! I easily click on the screen when handling it and the system reacts as I clicked on the side so sometimes my touch on the screen does nothing cause it thinks I have 2 fingers on it
5. (even without even putting the phone in my hands) Touch seems a bit weird, sometimes the touch reacts perfectly and soemtimes there is a delay of like 1s between my touch and the reaction of the screen. sometimes the touch registers but it does nothing, like clicking on recents, back or home buttons. sometimes touch doesnt work at all and I have to click on the screen again
6. There seems to be a sound recorder preinstalled but the only way to use this app is by creating a shortcut to this activity using shortcuts apps.
7. some system features are missing / not working - dark mode, adaptive battery, switching navigation buttons, pixel gestures (1 key navigation) and more
I love this phone but I hope this will be solved asap
Have you encountered these problems as well?

I have encountered these issues too. I could not find the gesture navigation anywhere. Also, I use straight talk, and while my phone works, i have no APN setting under mobiel networks to change setting to make it work better.

Hi,
Will just answer those two statements as I am unsure about the others.
About 3. : I guess you are aware that, the more RAM you have, the more the system uses. It takes it's ease with what it gets Me, the RAM is used at 50% most of the time, but that still is ONLY 50%... Using the exact same apps and display options on my 4Gb mi Max 3 I have only 2.3Gb taken instead of 4.1... No mystery about that
About 4. : my advice is to install Fluid N.G. : will give you an opportunity to configure navigation gestures to your liking. By the way : it is permanent. So, once installed and given permissions, you'll keep that after a reboot... A must-have app for me
Regards.
no 4 is absolutely correct... Even I am also facing same problem

Hello guys!
I just got my new Red Magic 3 global variant!
I have some problems with this phone that I wanna share with you, maybe you have those as well!

THAnk you.. plz reply
European build version 2.10
1 In the phone application, when I press the Russian letter e, it crashes with an error !
2 In standby mode in 8 hours it is discharged by 10-12% !
3 The manual circle of sharpness sometimes freezes in the camera, sometimes it does not appear! If you exit the photo mode and go in, the circle appears again when you click on the screen.
4 In the browser, Chrome slows down scrolling when you click on the trigger!
5 In YouTube, watching a video, when you click on a Trigger, a submenu pops up!
6 Not in game mode or in game mode with auto-tuning-Asphalt 8 twitches!
7 I found another mistake on Global 2.10: when you hold Trigger with your hand and start entering the password for wi-fi, then the passwords are not registered!
8 In the curtain, the letters wi-fi and the Internet with a swipe do not scroll from right to left !
9 European firmware 2.10.
I start from the desktop and Asphalt 8 twitches,it is twitching in game mode with the auto mode, because the automatically underestimated frequencies from the manufacturer, with the gpu auto mode turned on, stand at 257.00 and do not increase, the percentage jumps from 0.83 to 1.79. If you click from avtomoda to gpumod , then the purity of gpu increases to 499.20 percent, then dances from 1.79 and higher, but if you exit the game mode and go in, the purity of gpu drops to 345 and you need to switch back from avtomod to the GPU Mod until 499.20 appears. All of these data can be seen in game mode, in the upper, right corner.
10 Sometimes it freezes in standby mode: when you press the on, off button the screen does not light up, sometimes the curtain itself may fall when you press the on, off button !
Se presiona los boton de disparo "R" solo, incluso cuando estoy fuera del modo juego en Youtube se presiona los submenú del video. Nose si mi equipo está con falla o la firmware 2.10?
Hello there, my phone build number is EN_Common_V2.10, I got it on their website when first launched.
Here is my comment on your points:
1. That is correct for youtube, when touched the shoulder button it reacts on youtube. I just need to properly hold it then.
2. I dont have this kind of issue while gaming, mostly i play pubg mobile with super mode with Smooth Extreme, cpu usage is normal, sometimes it is throttle to max and after that, it will go back down. Maybe that because when im running into a more crowded area with full of players. I never experienced stutter while playing pubg mobile.
3. I will agree on this, at the moment i have only 2 apps running on my task manager which is whatsapp and Line messenger and my phone ram usage is 4169 MB / 7498 MB. but this doesnt affect my phone performance tho, it is still fast reponse and doing okay even after launching pubg mobile too.
4. I dont have this issue.
5. I dont have this issue.
6. I didnt know about this haha
7. Dark mode only works with CN rom, switching navigation button was not present on global rom, and mostly it is only present on CN rom.
For me, I switch on deep process clean so that any app that i am not using it will terminate its process, only apps that im using all the time that i leave it on in background, so maybe this will answer on your RAM management issue.
As for the mis-click and other touch issue, im using a case that is fit for gaming case so i dont encounter any of those issue you mentioned.

lol, so much for loving this phone!
During game switching from gameboost on to gameboost off
There is no rhyme or reason as to why this is happening. I have never dropped this phone. It has never been introduced to water. I'm at a loss here. Currently I have uninstalled the game and reinstalled, I purchased the red magic docking station, I have cleared my cashed/internet history to no avail.
Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. FYI this phone is no more then 6 weeks out of delivery to me.
I bought REDMAGIC 5G
But after activating the device, I updated the system and then the screen did not work, as if it was in a sleep state or the system update was not completed and the operating system malfunctioned.
Can Help me please.

Question What to know before installing LineageOS

Hello!
The LineageOS thread is getting very long at 12 pages now, I am looking to install it, but since this thread is so long, it is hard to track what is fixed and what is an issue. So please, if some of you with Lineage could reply with some of the current issues it would be very helpful for me and other people.
I will try my best to add them to a list below for other people looking to install Lineage This is what I have gathered so far.
No vibrations after screen/SIM unlock
Fingerprint scanner only works with screen on
Fingerprint scanner flashes the entire display at max brightness
Night light does not work
(Maybe) No data roaming
(Maybe) Bluetooth APTX codec does not work for calls
(Not a bug) Screen refresh rate can only be changed with adb
Quick update: I installed Lineage anyway lol. For me all haptic feedback works, so I barrwd it from the list. Some I could not test. Overall Lineage is sooo much smoother than the stock ROM, Asus removed so many little animations. Also I noticed the sometimes, screen kind of shifts colors rapidly, maybe this is related to auto brightness...
Edit2: its not the auto brightness so my next hypothesis is the refresh rate going to 60 and back to 120 when I touch the screen
Edit3: it seems to be switching between 120/60 to 90 for some reason? I tried manually switching refresh rates with adb and saw a very small difference between 60/120, but with 90Hz, the colors are all over the place, same happened on the stock rom too.

Question OnePlus 10 Pro Charging and Screen Display Issue (always on display)

Hello XDA Community,
I'm seeking assistance with a peculiar problem I've been encountering with my OnePlus 10 Pro.
The issue manifests as a persistent black clock display whenever the phone is locked. This display seems to prevent the screen from turning off as it should when the device is not in use. This not only affects the phone's battery life but also my overall user experience.
Additionally, I've observed a concerning correlation between this black clock screen and the device's charging speed. When the black clock screen is active, my OnePlus 10 Pro doesn't seem to charge at the speed I've come to expect from this device. This is particularly problematic as I rely heavily on the phone's acclaimed quick charging feature.
Has anyone else encountered this issue or can offer any advice? I would greatly appreciate any insights or potential solutions.
This screen is probably "ambient display" but on screen option I have disabled this in Wallpapers & style and always-on display is disabled.
Thank you in advance for your help.
I have had this with the fingerprint button showing after the screen is off, I got around it by turning it on then rebooting and retesting then changing the feature to off and then rebooting then testing again...
The problem occured after a firmware update, so if you've changed region or performed an update then that may be why.
Definitely something that shouldn't be happening.
I don't have "wise charging" turned on or wireless charging, or any kind of AOD feature, cycling and rebooting between each change should help, least it did for me.
I google this case and this can be ambient display by google but I dont have any option to disable it

Again, just cycle AOD to on then reboot.. then turn it off then reboot.
Then retest.
It simply shouldn't be on at all, so did you update recently?
