T-Mobile USA Note 9 50% off question - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Questions & Answers

If I trade in S7 I will get the note 9 for $500 with 24 monthly bill credits.
My questions:
1. Can I pay off the note 9 few months later? (in case I want to sell it)
2. If I pay it off, will I have to pay $1000 or $500?
Thanks

I'm not positive, but. I think you can pay it off early. I'm just trying to figure out how to use my JUMP from a Note to get the 512gb version without putting 500 bucks down lol

I believe you would pay off the remaining balance of the $500 plus any taxes. This would be the case if you still had payments on the old phone if you use Jump to upgrade.

That's what I thought too (pay off only $500), but I was chatting with t-mobile rep and he said I would have to pay full $1000. I don't think he knew what he was talking about...

If I'm reading the materials correctly, they are giving you a $500 credit which leaves a balance of $499 plus tax for the $128gb version. If you had to pay the full $1k then they are making out on the deal since you gave them a phone.

From what I understand the $500 is in bill credits, so it wouldn't be just $500 off.

It's bill credits, so you don't get the full $500 off until you make your 24th payment.

I find it amazing that I can get $500 for my Note 5. I am going to pre order tonight.

I'll get it if it gets rooted and 100% battery

Ah, I didn't see that. In that case you'll most likely have to pay off the entire $1,000.

Except that no other carriers are requiring those down payments. I can pay it, I just don't think I want to when switching carriers will get me the phone with zero down. Hell, Sprint is offering it for no money down and 20 bucks a month.

Any idea about JOD. Can't seem to find prices for that??

Could you point to the source? T-Mobile Twitter is telling me some other price.

Ordered through T-Mobile. Ocean Blue 512/8. Half off...almost? Yes please. Did not care for that huge downpayment though. :/

I hate t mobile and their bill credit deals. You really have to keep on top of them to make sure they give it to you and make sure they get your phone you turn in. I have waited months before to get this stuff straight in the past with other “deals.” This time I am ordering the unlocked version from Samsung instead. Screw t mobiles “bill credit” junk.

I just did the preorder and got the $500 off for an old Note 5 (yay!) as bill credits, EIP comes to $9 a month. Down payment sucked, but for $9 a month I will suck it up.
My only issue is nowhere did it ask me to choose my preorder gift. How do I get my headphones or Fortnite pack?

Early upgrade sprint/radio shack

So i was planning on buying the S4 outright because I have another month before I can renew my contract, but I learned from a sprint employee there is a 100 fee I can pay to renew early, only thing is I have to trade my S3 in, no issue there, I get a hundred dollar credit for my S3 which takes care of that fee, so I get the phone for 250.
I work right next door to a radio shack, and unfortunately whenever I have a question these guys have NO idea.
I was really hoping I could do the same deal at radio shack, pay a fee to upgrade early.
Would anyone here know about that?
Call account services or go to a corporate store. After the process is completed you will be able go into radio shack, and handle your business as usual.

You have to trade in your s3... no issues there. that is a HUGE ISSUE. s3's can go for $300-350 on craigslist or e-bay!
I was in the same situation like you. I'm about 4 months away from an upgrade. I chatted with sprint and they said the same thing you mentioned, that I have to pay $100 and do the buyback program from them (ripoff). So instead of a chat, I've always had luck with calling instead. They immediately transferred me to the correct department, they said I can play $100 for an early upgrade. A few hours later, every site i checked, i was eligible for an upgrade. You do not have to go through the buyback program!

Called. They charged the 100 to my account. And now I don't have to trade my phone in! Good enough for me!

Yeah, I'm surprised Radioshack would do that. I was told by a Sprint rep that only a Corporate store would do it.
I personally took advantage of this and paid a hefty $275 fee for the early upgrade, but it's worth it because I won a gift card from my work that covered the costs.
BestBuy will give you 262$ for the s3
If you wanted to keep your SGS3, you can also put another device on that line and trade that one in. Obviously will not get as much for the SGS3, but you can keep that device or sell and get more. I put one of my dummy phones (old Evo Shift) on the line.

i work for sprint and let me assure you you do not HAVE to do the buyback to use the "upgrade now" or "upgrade buyup" programs
So I'm a month away from an upgrade but I need a new phone. The chat people said I'm eligible for an early upgrade at the $150 for the SGS4. So I HAVE to trade a phone in and pay 100 bucks to get the early upgrade? I'm confused... I have the SGS2.

I'm surprised that they are going to give you the $150 price for the phone. I had to pay $250 for the phone + my early upgrade fee - E4GT trade in.
So basically I paid $250 (Phone) + $275 (early upgrade) - $75 (E4GT trade in) = $450

If your only a month away, you should only have to pay 50$. also keep in mind it can take upwards of 24 hours to get the upgrade reset in the internal system so that stores and retailers can view and utilize it. an epic touch is currently worth 75$ in buyback value, although dont let them pressure you into thinking you HAVE to utilize the buyback program, because you dont.

50 bucks is fine. But my upgrade is on June 1. I won't do the buyback thing though, I'd rather keep my E4GT as a backup just in case... So you're confident that they'll give me an early upgrade with 50 or under as a fee aside from the phone? Don't want to waste my time going to the store.

absolutely. i wouldnt even waste my time going to the store, just call care and get transferred to retentions (or google the retentions number) and mmmmmmmm it should be 50 in may 1st, they might leave you hangin since its still technically april....they are strict about the price, even by one day.
please keep in mind most if not all buyups get billed to the account, unless it sends you over your spending limit in which case they will either retract the offer or make you catch up first. so the only thing you have to put up is the price of the phone at upgrade price

nope. i hate the way sprint advertises the 150$ thing, they make it seem like thats how much you spend on the phone, or how much you get off...when in most cases its less or barely more, and you get WAY more than 150$ off...
lemme assure you if you get your upgrade moved up (lets say 100$, it gets billed to the account) you will still be spending the 249.99$+tax to get the s4 (unless you utilize the buyback program which can eat SOME cost)

Now I'm even more confused... The lady on the Sprint live chat said I am eligible for early upgrade meaning I can get the phone at the $150 internet price. (All her words)
My spending limit is like $150 or something last I checked.

Either way, I'm leaving work in five minutes and heading to the Sprint store. I will report my findings after that.
If the first says "no early upgrade" or "early upgrade with crazy fee" is it worth hitting up another store?

The phone costs 249.99 $+tax +36 activation charge, with an upgrade or new line of service. If you are not currently upgrade eligible you can pay a small fee based on the length of remaining contract to get your device upgrade eligibility moved up. If you get this phone for 150 $ please let us know because ill take 10! Lol but in all seriousness I would wait the month to avoid the buyup unless you reeeeally need a new phone.

There are two upgrade early options
In store= trade in your old phone and pay fee, also known as upgrade now. With this option the phone trade is required
Call Care=they bill a fee to your account. No phone trade required
Read about it on here, it is a different program.

Why would wifi keep turning itself on after I turn it off on this phone?

Anyone else disappointed with Sprints pricing?

$250 (upgrade price), $36 activation fee...then add tax. I think it's annoying that Sprint is making us loyal customers pay the difference for new customers (as they save $100 upon signing up.)

I'm way more disappointed in Sprint's cell service. The S4 is a great phone and well worth $250, I payed full price off contract for mine $599, -$263 that I got for my S3 on trade in at Best Buy. But being locked into a two year contract with Sprints pathetic network is another thing.

Hopefully the completion of their LTE rollout wins you over...
ive been a sprint customer for 12 years and the last phone i got they refused to waive my activation fee. i used to just make a simple call and request they waive it, i wasnt rude, or threatening and they flat out refused. they gave me the "we're trying to expand our network and push lte to more markets" excuse. and i bought it. i figure if my 36 bucks gets lte here faster then its worth it. that wont stop me from calling every time i get hit with an activation fee.

Don't you need a membership for that? I would so do that if it was possible.
I upgraded with Sprint at Costco (yes you have to have a membership).
Phone was $195, no activation fee, and it included an accessory bundle. Not the best bundle, but hey, a free TPU case, Car charger and some other items aren't bad.
I only got charged $150 for the device when activating a new line (of course plus the activation fee, all carriers charge this). However, I also got charged a $100 deposit on the line, I'm assuming because of my credit or lack thereof. So I wound up paying $250 when I got my GS4. Is this what everyone else is talking about or did they itemize the phone as costing $250? As a note, I ordered online, not in a store if that makes a difference for anyone.
Yea, it's ridulous that Sprint would charge the most among the carriers. But I bought the S4 off-contract and they offered the best price when the preorders were going on ($599.99).

Sprint has always been cheapest carrier in terms of nearly everything (plans, phones, etc.) But this was a surprise. I'll probably wait until a 3rd party retailer has a big sale and jump on it then.
Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Can I upgrade through Costco/Sam's club online without membership?
I couldn't resist. I got it the first day I had an upgrade. With everything (taxes and upgrade) on top of the 250 bucks for the device my out of pocket was aroubd 280. It was quite disappointing and the insult was that I didnt enjoy the device at first after being a die hard HTC follower.

Note 4 purchase.

I'm currently on AT&T and would like to get a T-Mobile Note 4 and unlock it to be used on my AT&T plan. T-Mobile wants $420 down for the device (based on my credit check (thanks ex-wife)), but the device outright can be purchased for $600-700 online. Is there any other alternative to getting the device without paying so much up front?

From another thread in q&a:
I bought the phone. It was a bit of a process but easy. You have to have a service plan for them to sell you one. So I signed up for the phone and the cheapest plan they would get me. Then went home and called Tmobile customer care and paid the balance of the phone off. Then went to cellunlocker and got an unlock code. Then for the next day or so I used it on AT&T to make sure it had no problems. Then I called up Tmobile and canceled my plan.

I put mine up on Craig's list for 800.00 and it sold in a few hours. The full price of the phone on AT&T without a 2 year contract is $825.00. As long at you sell it for less than that it sells pretty quick. Don't know where you got the market value is 600.00 if you are selling it for 600.00 you are getting ripped off. They go for way more than that. Even on ebay most of the auctions are finishing in the $750 range.
Put mine on craigslist 3 days after it came out in Washington DC area. Took 3 days to get a reasonable offer- $760. Sold for that amount. My brother listed his on craigslist three weeks later at $650, didn't get any bites for a few days and finally had to settle for $600 (this was one week ago). I'm not sure where YOU live, but the market price for the AT&T version of the Note 4 is certainly around $600. Look at Swappa: five phones listed for under $630. You know how much they make after the $10 fee and shipping? $600. Do not advise people that they can get even close to retail asking price for the AT&T version. Maybe the T-Mobile version... that price is holding steady around $680-$690.
Yeah, there are a couple T-Mobile Note 4s on Craigslist around here for like $550-650.

Well that sticks for you I guess. There are plenty selling for $750 on eBay and Craig's list. Swappa always has **** for prices for a seller. Look them up on eBay. And there are tons up for sale in my cities on Craig's list for $750. Just had a friend sell his yesterday for $780 he didn't even bring it home from the store, found an offer before he made it home.
Sorry you can find any one to buy it for more than $600 but that send like a you problem, not the going rate for the phone.

Ok, sell on eBay for $700 (if you're lucky, still seeing recent sold ones for ~$650) fee break down: $70 to eBay, $20 to PayPal, $10 Shipping. Net $600. I don't know why you're arguing this... any way you sell the phone you're going to be getting ~$600 for the phone, give or take $25.
Yesterday's average selling price on eBay of new or like new AT&T Note 4s was $657.08 with a standard deviation of $53.32. The median was $664.43. So If you're that middle guy, selling for $660. You'd be getting $660 - $66 ebay fee - $19.44 paypal fee - ~$10 shipping fee. You're looking at $564.56. Even at the top end, you're looking at $608.46
OK, so Rent-A-Center has them for $29 on black Friday and you have 90 days to pay it in full. So...having it paid in full in 3 months is a cool deal.
Now...has anyone got one from Rent-A-Center and will it work on AT&T and use it as a T-Mobile device as far as rooting, flashing, etc.?

128gb promo

T-Mobile is now selling the 128gb s6 for the same price as the 64gb...

Samsung needs to stop doing this kind of crap, they will kill the resale value of the S6. they copy designs from the iPhone yet they can't copy the business practices of apple. geez.

This really has nothing to do with Samsung, this is T-Mobiles business model.
Ya, this is getting ridiculous. I wouldnt have chosen the 64gb if i knew th 128gb would be the same price.
This is a recurrence of an existing promo that T-Mobile has been running since the beginning of June, though I think they killed it for a couple of days in there somewhere. I picked up my S6 128GB (non-edge, didn't see the value in paying $100 more for the bit of extra screen real estate) on this deal on 6/7.
Just be aware, they won't honor this in store (though I'm told none of the stores carry the 128GB phones, period), and if for whatever reason you can't order via the website you may have a bit of a time getting customer service to honor it over the phone. I had to go through 3 different phone reps/supervisors to get one who knew how to do it, when the website referred me to customer service.
This phone is not worth $850+ lol but yeah android phones never have and never will keep their value.

With the S6, there is no additional screen area with the edge
Stores will honor it IN STORE on wedneday.
Also , Samsung seperately is gonna give you 100$ back if you buy the 64gb full price (which is already discounted 100$ by t-mobile).
So if you go and buy the 64gb for 649$, Samsung will send you another 100$ rebate

Why would they take it back in return? Take back a used phone for a new one? The only thing you entitled to is some kind of reimbursement via account credit. Call customer service and explain your situation.
But I'm sure if you pay the restocking fee they'll let you swap it out.

For one , buyers remorse lol
They won't let me even do a restocking fee.
I'm over it already
They gave me a 100$ credit to the account instead
Are u sure we can use the T-Mobile 100 promo and the Samsung promo at the same time? Samsung says it has to be full price which it's not the case when T-Mobile has discounted it

No harm in trying. If they accept it and you shouldn't have qualified it's on their heads not yours.

No problem. . Also pricing is as follows
Note 5: Through September 30, JUMP! On Demand price will be $99.99 down and $24.34 per month for 18 months. Regular EIP pricing will be $99.99 down, 23 monthly payments of $28.34, and 1 payment of $28.18. Full retail price of $779.99.
At the end of jump on demand, you have the option of paying the difference to buy it as well. They come out the same total, but if you plan to switch phones, the jump on demand might be the better option for you.
That's for the 64GB.. the 32 is a little cheaper.

You getting the note5?
I have EIP on the Note 4, and I'm not yet halfway thru my payments. I was hoping that once I got halfway thru, I could trade in my Note 4 and switch to Jump On Demand and a Note 5, but nope, it seems I would pay off the whole balance to close out my EIP plan.

You can JUMP to a cheap phone and give back the Note 4... like a recertified $199 iPhone 5c or a $50 flip phone, then pay it in full and sell it. Then go sign up for a Jump on Demand plan.
