Bixby home missing. Not working - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions and Answers

Okay. Here's the thing. I just installed dr.ketans rom O11P. And was setting up my phone. I use bxActions to disable and remap my bixby key to other actions like any other sane person would do. But the problem is, you have to setup bixby first to disable it later.
Bixby on my phone is not working. Like I can't see the gear icon to disable bixby from opening Bixby home when I press the Bixby button.
Any help is appreciated. I've already tried, force close, uninstalling and reinstalling updates and app itself.
PS : I did not disable bixby and related apps with bk disabler

BxActions? (Bixby remap)

Can anyone that has the phone already test to see if BxActions still works?
Also are you able to test Control Mode.
Thanks! :highfive:
Doesnt work on my Note 8, button launches Bixby only no matter what I do, what service I choose and what accessibility I turn on.
I did not try control mode, just blocking.
EDIT: I finally got it working, had to clear the cache on the phone and reinstalled. Now working, but its slow to close/switch from bixby.
I just used Bixby Button Remapper by Phascinate and it it works. Also BK Disabler can disable all Bixby services so the button doesn't do anything
I used bxactions and it works perfect. I did the control mode, easy to do and works like a champ. You have to use a disabling package app and PC. You will probably want it anyways. I used BK Disabler and it worked as well. Couldn't get the other apps to work very well, so I recommend those the most. No root needed and no hiccup.
Do not install bixby remap app. It will cause hesitation of scrolling in the gallery and sometimes the settings memo.
I can't get it to work for me in control or blocking mode. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Bixby and Bixby voice are both turned off from the Bixby app itself, but no matter what I set the button to do, it just remains disabled.
Maybe just update the phone to AQI5 and turn it off in the menu?
BixBye has been working brilliantly for me. Worked on my S8 Plus and it works on my Note 8 even after the recent update from T-Mobile.

I have turned it off in Bixby itself, but I wanted to remap the now non-functioning button to something else.
I really wish they would just not have put this stupid button on there to begin with, but now that it's there, I'd like to make it do something. Well I guess I can use it to wake the phone up.
Just tried bixbye. Nope again. I'm on Sprint, so maybe they're just breaking everything that tries to circumvent this stupid "assistant".
You do know there is scrolling issues in gallery when bixby remapper is installed?
Once I turned bixby button off, it's like it was never there, doesn't bother me at all. What bothers me is the fact that my phone is tracking my activities, stores them and probably sends them out somewhere. Got some stupid message last night, telling me what time I usually go to sleep etc
bxActions is working on my Verizon Note 8. I did not do the control part. I only have a single push app assigned, so no lag or other issues.
Works fine on mine as well... 1 press = Google Assistant, 2 press = camera launch, long press = flashlight.
BxActions working fine with Control Mode, no lag or stutter in gallery.
1 click Assistant, 2 clicks toggle auto rotate, long press flashlight.

Your power button is already set to open the camera if you double press it. At least mine was.

Mine too. Now I can do it on both sides!
I have it installed and followed the directions for the control mode but it isnt working for me. In fact, long pressing the button still brings up bixby.
did anyone have windows defender say that the activatecontrolmode.exe is a trojan.

yes, because it auto inputs ABD commands to your terminal to enable permissions.
Just disable defender while doing the process. I'm using bxActions - Control Mode and i'm loving it.
Does anyone know how to remove the activation of bixby when you longpress? I still get it, and don't know what package to disable to get rid of it. I have tried disabling bixby voice, but that just disables the button completely.

Does this cause any screen flickering or glitches when pressing the Bixby button or is it seamless?
This doesn't work because when pressing the button. Bixby pops up

Working great, both lockscreen and unlocked settings work great.
what do you mean b "PC" activation?
Won't do the PC part. I have Samsung drivers installed.
Help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Is Usb debugging enabled on your phone?
I got the mode activated, but adhell reports that it isn't supported on the note 8, so I can't disable bixby. Honestly, I wanted to keep single press bixby, and add double press facebook launch, and long press screenshot. Any way to do that without having to disable bixby?
I followed all instructions....USB debugging is enabled. I was able to do the second part of the instructions by disabling Bixby Home. But the PC command prompt says USB debugging is not enabled. But it's checked. I rebooted the phone and tried again, still no good.
Any assistance will be appreciated.
Do you have samsung usb drivers installed?
You can try to install Samsung smart switch and reboot pc.
Does it help?
What were the exact ADB commands to disable bixby?
Installed smart switch. Phone is recognized by the computer. It has to be for me to even run your PC command program.
Thanks the help.
whats the pc activation ap? I can do the adb portion but somewhat confused about the PC app part.
The application instruction ector phone and navigate through your PC into the phone and run a command application from the phone on your PC. This application is supposed to change some permissions, I guess, to allow the application to do what it advertises it can do.
Anybody get this working? I was able to get my phone recognized with the Samsung drivers, but ADB command doesn't work, thinks that the USB debugging isn't on even though it is. I also installed the Smart Switch software, but the behavior was the same.
Was anyone able to run the activation.exe and use the control mode?
Maybe samsung blocks bxActions in Note 8 firmware. Dont have an S8 to test this.

remap the Bixby button BUT NOT disable it

Hi, just a quick question.
I know there are a few apps to disable Bixby (bxAction, Custom Bixby Button).
However, is there any way to remap the Bixby button to other actions etc. open Camera.... and not disable the Bixby features?
What I mean is only disable the hardkey press and not 100% disable the Bixby including the Voice wake-up features.
Thanks and best regards.

Bixby remap rolled out - How to trigger Google Assistant?

Samsung rolled out the update to natively remap Bixby's button. I cannot figure out how to get it open the Google Assistant as if I pressed and held the home button.
So far I've tried setting a tap of the Bixby button to :
Launch the Google app but that opens Google with the standard search bar focused for keyboard input.
Installed the Google Assistant app. The icon now shows on my launcher (Nova) but doesn't show in the app selection screen in the Bixby remap area.
Restarted my phone to try and get the Google Assistant icon to show up in the remap area.
I'm probably missing something real simple. Any ideas?

I'm trying to do the same thing. The assistant app does not show on the list of apps that can be hard with the Bixby button.
Maybe Samsung is blocking that app from being used.
This would be sweet, following.
There's an app bxactions it let me remap mine one click and Camera long press Google Ass, volume buttons to.
This is on oreo 8.1.0 se9.5 and you need to use adb for full options

It uses accessibility services which are known to add lag. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1hOyBrZqy3N21uoy9nVmbK1i_zyPnIXbs/view You can use this google asssistant shortcut apk shared on reddit to toggle via built-in bixby settings.

Well that was timely! I read the first article about the feature before I posted. I thought maybe it was just my phone.

That's pretty crappy of Samsung -- They have to know Bixby sucks - they let you remap the button but cripple it so we cannot use it the way most would want to.

This worked perfectly. Thank you!!
Spoke too soon. It doesn't support "What's on my screen." So it's missing some sort of functionality somehow.

Yeah bxactions developer implemented it somehow. It is different when you say ok google and when you click its shortcut or widget. You probably dont have screenshot option either. With gestures swiping and holding home is simpler to me and I remapped my bixby key to gcam. Hope you find a workaround though

Bixby key button remapper

https://www.xda-developers.com/remap-bixby-button-google-assistant/
Hi guys, I've followed the above instructions and for some reason when I single tap the bixby button it still launches the bixby assistant even though I choose the bixby button remapper app. I've tried clearing the cache and app data and uninstalling and reinstalling the app.howver no matter what I still get bixby not the Google assistant. Any ideas on how to correct this?
Thank you
