Data Transfer from LG V20 to Note9 - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Questions & Answers

Hi All,
Anyone have thoughts on which data transfer program to use when I receive my note.
I'm coming from the LG V20.
Should I use the Samsung Smart Switch app, CloneIt or perhaps another program?
TIA
Al

The smart switch app is the easiest. Use that data transfer tool and boom there you go!

As said above, Smart Switch is definitely the way to go. Ensure the app is on both devices and then connect your LG to your Note via the included USB A to USB Cable adapter and select what you want to transfer ocer - it's that easy.

If you are using the adaptor you don't have to have the app on both phones just the new phone.

Smart Switch is the way to go. It worked like a treat transfering all my data from my Note 4 to my Note 8.

I started over from scratch so I wouldn't have any problems. My setup was getting bloated anyways.

[Q] Bluetooth pairing

Is it at all possible to connect the Hero to a computer and transfer data via bluetooth so I don't have to connect the cable every time? I have searched but not been able to find anything relevant. One form said that most roms did not have the capability but just wondered if it was possible.

Well, I'm not sure what type of data you want to transfer. For me, I just needed to copy files and install/uninstall apps and not sync data since I just use the Google cloud for syncing. So, I use WiFi instead of Bluetooth via the 'ADB Wireless' app. Then, i use third party tools like 'Android Commander' for example, to copy files back and forth and native ADB commands to install/uninstall apps over WiFi.

[Q] Control Galaxy Note from PC without streaming display

Hi All,
I've recently bought a dock with power and usb port, but unfortunately and for some reason, my USB OTG cable doesn't work. Anyway since my dock will be connected to the PC, OTG might not be needed.
I need a program for windows to control my galaxy note through USB. I don't want to see the phone display on my computer, I want to use the laptop's mouse and keyboard to control the phone as if am connect through OTG. Ideas?
refer HERE
I have already searched the forum for a solution and I couldn't find one. VNC or screen cast are not what I am looking for. The idea here is to transfer control as if you're connected through OTG, without the need to stream the display to the PC...

dude, no offense, there are better ways and apps for the same thing, there's too much effort to go through with what you've posted.
but actually, I'm also curious as to the OP's question

Airdroid is pretty good for this over wifi... Just allocates a port under your ip address and you connect through browser.

Sorry, just read your post properly, this ain't what you're after at all I should probably go back to bed.

How are you moving data to and from your N6?

Just wondering what methods you are using?
Quick and dirty cable? If you don't have one are you using Airdroid or another app? Bluetooth? I like Airdroid personally as its simple to flip that switch and connect to it.

usually i send it to mysrlf via the air or ill upload it to my ftp, then download via n6. rarely i will use a cable, but will. bluetooth i sent some photos from one phone to my n6, and it worked. but that was only once.
I use an app called "WiFi File Transfer".
Pete.

WiFi direct connection in combination with ES file Explorer. Most easy way for non geeky user like friends...

OTG-Usb with a small microsd adapter. It is the size of about three quarters in a stack.
Depends what I'm doing. If I'm transferring all data off and back on again, ill use a cable, otherwise ill connect my file manager (solid explorer) to a samba share on my NAS
I have a jump drive that contains two folders in it. One for my N6 and the other for my N7. Both folders I keep updated with different types of content. Stickmount pro and on otg cable and good to go! I'll do this to transfer between the to devices as well.
Send it to or copy it from my NAS
Best way is to run ssh+sftp server on your phone, then you actually have proper access to it.
Go ahead... have at it

Note: requires root.
I use an app called "Software Data Cable". It's wireless using WIFI or I use SanDisk Ultra 64GB Micro USB 2.0 OTG Flash Drive For Android Smartphone/Tablet ...it's pretty awesome

Question [HELP] File Transfer to PC is impossible S21 Ultra

Hey guys, as the title says - I am having difficulty with transferring files across from my Samsung S21 Ultra to my PC.
I have tried:
- Developer mode, enable USB Debug
- ^ + set default debug to be FTP
- keypad *#0808# and select MTP+ADB
- In the notification bar, clicked the 'charging' notification (that sends me to battery, not to pick another option)
I do not have the original samsung cable as it was of poor quality and failed after 2 months however I am using Anker cables, I use them for file transfers on other devices such as cameras, VR headsets and other phones - they work perfectly fine on everything except my S21 Ultra. I have also tried different PCs/Laptops in case its a driver issue.
Phone specs:
Model number - SM-G998B/DS
Running the latest version of Android.
If anyone can help me, that would be great. I really don't want to factory reset as that means losing the things I want to keep anyway which is just a lose lose.
If you can't find a solution quickly right now, then just use this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.primftpd&hl=en_US&gl=US
FE Explorer can also do something similar.
Or, Samsung Flow or something else.
Also, are you mostly trying this on Windows or something else?
Ensure usb-drivers for Samsung phones are installed on your pc. E.g. by installing smartswitch on you pc.

No need to install anything.
If it's Windows, just go to Windows Update at some point after you connect the phone.
Click "Check for Updates" and/or go into "Optional Updates" and you'll find that the driver is waiting to be installed ON YOUR COMMAND.

Surely I wouldn't need an additional app to transfer files? I'm doing this on the latest build of Windows 10 21H2 and also on a Windows 11 laptop, my P20 Pro transfers just fine but the S21 Ultra doesn't read anything as something other than a charger.

Do you have super display installed? I had an issue where I had super display installed and could not connect my phone for file transfer until I turned the super display service off in my services on Windows.
I am having the same issue and as I can recall it was after the recent update strange may be.
Open driver manager from within control panel, right click on portable devices and update MTP driver for Samsung phone. Press allow on your phone and you should be good to go.
I'm using Solid Explorer over WiFI, no issues
If you're using a corporate windows you need to install the media feature pack. Otherwise just try a different cable, some don't work. I had the same issue when using my old huawei cable, used the one that came with s21u and was fine.
Try disabling DeX in the phone settings. It worked for me..
Just a quick question guys, does the S21 Ultra come with a USB 3 data speed cable or is that something I'd have to buy on amazon etc. Thanks.

Question Move apps to new Tab S8

Hi.
I'm ashamed that I'm writing this. I thought I knew how to do stuff.
I've bought a new Galaxy Tab S8+ and I want to transfer my apps, app data and user files from my old tablet (Lenovo, Nougat) to my new S8 device
Samsung smart switch seems to be shockingly useless. Using either Wifi or cable, the tablets will not stay connected for the transfer to occur. Play Store doesn't offer to install the app data obviously. And Google backup doesn't have an option to restore. I'm flummoxed.
Does anyone have any ideas/recommendations for the best way to do this please.
Do you have a USB-C thumb drive or an expansion card that you could send the smart switch info to, and then plug or place that card or drive in the new device and restore from it? That would avoid any connection problem and is usually quicker.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I have a USB C thumb drive. Couldn't see an option to transfer to that type of storage though. Only Wifi or cable. I'll have another look when I've calmed down. This sort of thing should be straight forward!
When you open the app the first screen will ask if you want to send data or receive data, and at the top of the screen is a little sd card icon. select that and it will guide you to back up your data and apps to an sd card.
