FORTNITE bans users with root, UB, xposed framework - OnePlus 5 Guides, News, & Discussion

The new Fortnite Game for Android detects system modifications like having root or an unlocked bootloader, in addition to that it makes a SafetyNet check, which means no Fortnite for root users....
I know, it's just a game but I thought you should know, I found out about it today after indtalling it.

I can't even install it. The installer keeps crashing on me!

He "block" user having Root/Not Safety Pass, don't "Ban", not the same thing
If you unroot, clean install your device stock, you can play isn't it?

Wouldn't install it anyway tbh, purely for them circumventing the Play Store, that's highly dangerous, there'll be all sorts of malicious packages out there pretending to be legit copies. Plus PUBG4LYFE!

Like Snapchat, Netflix, Pokemon Go etc... Its not the first time but we live in the age of Magisk

Yes you are banned BECAUSE you have try to connect to the Fornite server so many times, not because you have try once time to connect with a device rooted
And i think it's a temporary ban (some minutes/hours)

i have tried this and it's working for rooted users

I mean, losing 30% of potentially ~100 millions $/mo from mobile just to stay on Google Play is a stupid business decision. It's simple enough: you want the game, you go on Epic's website. If people get caught downloading another version of the APK that contains a virus, they're dumb (in the end, it's their problem).

[Q] Google Play Store Broken

For ages now, my play store has not been working, and now I've reached my tolerance limit for I need flashfire to update to lollipop
3 weeks ago my friend told me he knows a way for me to keep my paid apps but get refunded as I just purchased poweramp. I was rooted so I gave him my phone. He told me he was going to install MOD EDIT and then modded play store. I have no idea what either do and I'm not concerned for what they do but when he did it, google play store was completely wiped off my device due to some form of error. I tried to install via apk, it lets me open the app but when google play tries to install or update, it crashes, and after placing vending.apk in my system apps folder, still occurs. Google play can't even open. Just crashes after clicking the app.:crying:
Any suggestions?
I'd also be great full if someone could provide me with a flashfire apk if possible
I managed to get the apk for flashfire, updated to lollipop and everything was fixed.
Lol:fingers-crossed::good:

While I agree with your sentiment, I doubt that was worth a report. He wasn't asking for help to pirate a program, he was asking how to undo what his friend did to his phone.
Personally, I would reinstall kit kat from a backup before your friend put illegal stuff on the phone. If you don;t have a backup I'd install the rooted image and start from scratch.

Theft is theft
Even mentioning "the app that shall go nameless" here is a no-no, even though the OP seemed to be genuinely seeking help...the fact that he claims to have figured out how to keep his stolen things is all the more reason to close this thread and provide a stern warning for anyone reading that using software such as the aforementioned is ultimately hurting this community and the developers who work on things for our devices. Keep talk about it, whether seeking help or not, off of our forums.
Thanks.

Is there an updated guide to flashing the N6?

There's one main guide by xBeerdroiDx, but it is outdated and you can't find the download for the SDK that he's referring to, so the guide comes to an abrupt halt right at the beginning. Is anyone aware of an updated guide? Or at least an updated guide to the SDK download part? I'm fairly certain the rest of the guide will work the same, but this part needs updating.

Got it, thank you. I've now got TWRP installed, making my nan backup now and expect to be on Lineage with Magisk shortly. I do appreciate it.
edit: Lineage flashed, francos kernel flashed, latest radio and bootloader flashed. Everything is up and running. Only problem is Safetynet is still being triggered, even without root. Currently trying to figure this out.
edit2: For some reason flashing Magisk and obtaining root, and then using Magisk Hide fixed my safetynet issues... for the most part. I say "for some reason" because Franco should've hid my unlocked bootloader, so there should've been no reason for Magisk to fix anything with safetynet. And secondly, I say "for the most part" because although Androidpay now passes the safetynet flag and lets me register a credit card (I haven't tried actually using it yet though), Netflix still doesn't show up on the Play Store. I tried clearing the app data a few times. It's been hours and it hasn't changed. Quite strange. Otherwise, I'm very happy with my new device.
edit3: So after about 8 hours, Netflix is now showing up on the Play Store once again. So Magisk hide + clearing Play Store app data + waiting a few hours is how I fixed it. Others said the same thing about it taking some time, but they said it should only take a few minutes. I guess it can take longer in some cases. Anyways, it's working and I'm a happy rooted camper.

Issues with Netflix are due to a new feature Google set up which allows a developer to hide their app in the Play Store from devices that don't adhere to the Google baseline. So, this is not a SafetyNet issue. There is an article about it on the XDA Portal.

I'm aware of the issue, and it is about Safetynet. Netflix and other apps like PoGo can avoid being shown on the Play Store to devices that do not pass Safetynet.
Anyways I got it to work. About 8 hours after passing Safetynet, it finally showed back up on the Play Store. So I'm fairly certain it's Safetynet. I just made sure Magisk said it passed, cleared app data for the Play Store and about 8 hours after it showed up. I was checking periodically and it definitely took at least a few hours.
We were thinking along the same lines. The difference? You were coming at it from a device point of view while I looked at it from the developer's end. This is the portal article I was talking about.

[Discussion] Snapchat Locked Accounts Thread Magisk

This forum is meant for people who are getting locked out of their accounts due to "3rd Party Plugins or Applications"
We need to stop this from happening so share your experiences and thoughts on the matter.
I have 2 devices: a Nexus 6P running Pie (Pixel Experience) and a Pixel 3XL on the stock Pie rom. Both are rooted with Magisk Canary builds and both have Magisk Hide turned on. Snapchat never detects root on the Nexus but ALWAYS detects it on the Pixel. I've even repackaged Magisk on the Pixel but that doesn't help. I've read that it's easier for apps to detect root on A/B partition devices so maybe the newer, updated Snapchat apps have code to detect it. When I have time, I'll try an old version and see if it works...
Note that I don't believe Snapchat bans just by detecting root. It is detecting certain apps that are somehow triggering it. If you check the list of apps that you have given permission for superuser, it would be one of those. The app that I had that was triggering Snapchat was an app named app ops. I had downloaded it and just giving it permissions alone was getting me banned on Snapchat. I think this problem only affects users running Oreo or higher for whatever reason. I myself had an old phone running marshmallow with app ops and never experienced a ban. I don't think that any of the people reporting the problem had anything lower than Oreo. If you have somehow discovered the app causing your problems, uninstalling it may not fix your problem. I had to wipe my phone in order to fix it because I was still receiving bans despite uninstalling the app that was causing my problems
I've never installed app ops so that's not my problem.
As for A/B partitioning, I'm on a Samsung galaxy Note 8 and it didn't come out with this on my device so yeh ?
The main thing I found out that I had to do, was repackage the manager and I haven't been banned for the last 4 days
I am on the S8 plus and was locked out for 12 hours before. Snapchat continued to lock me out even when I fully uninstalled magisk. I decided to clean install a different Rom which seemed to do the trick. A month later I decided to go back to my original Rom and guess what? Can't even login coz of some mod I think.
So I would say it depends on what mods you have installed yourself or packaged with the custom ROM.
Snapchat ban
I have same problem. Yesterday they gave me ban but i was unbanned with their site. But today they give me one more ban but now is for 24h ... anyone know how to fix snap or maybe hide root? S7 9.0 blackdiamond v3
Downloaded an early January 2019 version of Snapchat and signed up for a new account on my Pixel 3XL. All was good at first then I closed the app. When I tried to sign back in, I got the "problem connecting to server" error which requires an update to the most current version. I updated and after just a few hours, I got the "12 hour account locked" message for "3rd party apps". I've had Magisk Manager repackaged but that obviously didn't help. BTW, I have not repackaged Magisk on my Nexus 6P and it's still works. I found a comment by a user of the Bitmoji app (which I use on my Pixel but not my Nexus) that reported his Snapchat was locked by this app so I uninstalled it. We'll see how it goes when my 12 hour ban is up...
Update: I uninstalled Bitmoji. I also added the systemless host module in Magisk and enabled systemless mode in Adaway. That is supposed to prevent Adaway from modifying the system partition but neither worked. I'm on a 24 lock now....

I don't know if this would affect you but an app that was causing the problems on my phone with Android 9.0 has no affect on an old phone running Android 6.0.1. I don't know why this happens but if you were running a new version of Android such as Android 9.0, an app that may not cause problems on your 6P may cause problems for you. And again, I have no idea why this happens but I can guarantee that was my problem and I haven't had a ban since

Both my Pixel 3XL and Nexus 6P are running Android 9 rooted with Magisk Canary (19005). Both have the same apps with superuser rights. All this to say that Snapchat was working fine on both for months and for about the last 6 weeks, my Pixel 3 XL's account gets locked and my Nexus 6P does not.
Thanks for trying to help and glad you figured your problem out.
I'm copying this from the SnapFreedom thread who's problems obviously mirror your own. I'll be editing parts out, but some of it should still apply if you guys are getting locked out.
XPrivacyLua
Install it from FDroid or Xposed Repo and check the boxes for "Determine activity" and "Get applications" in Snapchat's tab. You can also enable "Get location" to spoof your location and still use SnapMaps.
Magisk
A few points, these probably don't apply, but they're still worth doing.
Repackage it through Settings -> Hide Magisk
Make sure to block all components under "Google Play Services" and "Google Play Store". There's a few things that aren't blocked by default that might trigger SafetyNet.
Snapchat
Hoo boy...
Don't use anything higher than, and including, 10.41.6.0. It's pretty much a ban-fest. With SnapTools, we use 10.20.5.0 and 10.26.5.0. Those are probably your safest bets. Also, if you plan on downgrading, use any 10.39 app. Something in how logins work has changed in the later versions, so apps like Preferences Manager don't work.
Theming your app should be okay. I did it for months and never got a ban.
Only give it the bare minimum permissions. Storage, Camera, and Microphone. Location too, if you're into being tracked by your friends and Snapchat.
Do NOT use modified apps. At all. Ever. They're the easiest things to detect.
If you want to block ads reliably, you can use this Magisk Module. This WON'T stop bans.
Snapchat also logs your device ID. If you've received a temp-ban prior to this, make sure to change your Device ID. If you're on Oreo, you can use this app. If not, you can use Titanium Backup to change it. The latest version with this function is version 8.2.2. But honestly, the most reliable way is to reflash your ROM.

There are all the reasons why i purely stopping to use Snapchat, and also due to the fact that the application is so badly optimized for Android (even since the complete redesign of the application), in the end considering my use so irregular, I just uninstalled it, so no problem.
The time of Snapprefs and Snaptools was fun and funny, and especially less vicious as a concept than the basic one.
The good old days, but all good things must come to an end.

Update:
About 2 weeks ago, I flashed the May rom update for my Pixel 3 XL, installed Snapchat ver. 10.41.6.0, hid SC and all components of Google Play Services and Google Play Store in Magisk and I haven't been banned! I detach SC from the Play Store with TiBu but it somehow gets reattached. I just don't update it. Thanks @TevW !!!
I have got a problem, I have a Nokia 7 Plus, stock fw no changes at all!
And I keep getting banned... Support is a joke, I just get automatic replies...
The only reason i may have for getting bans is if snap scans the sd card, where I have magisk and roms files from other devices...
Any tips ???

Magisk security risks

Hey, folks,
I have a question about the risks involved in using Magisk on the phone and also Xposed. Using Magisk and Xposed has always been elementary for me, however, I have never used my bank account on my phone as I am afraid of being vulnerable for using these applications. In my new job the use of my banking application is mandatory so I don't know if I should uninstall Magisk and Xposed. What do you guys think? Is it advisable to manage money on your phone with these applications installed?
thank you
Can you even run the banking app with xposed installed? It breaks safetynet and apps probably check for that. As for magisk yeah it's perfectly fine.
Hi,
I haven't had any problems. Being unable to sit up in front of a PC/Laptop, I handle *everything* on my phone.
Of course, like anything important, use proper security measures. Using a VPN is advisable. Look at places like the Android Authority Tech Store. They have deals here and there. I've purchased "Lifetime" (20 years) deals on 2 different quality VPN services, one for $20 and the other for $40. One goes out, or even out of business, I've got the other and my money's worth long ago, so no big deal.
I also use Avast! Anti-Virus (not asking for opinions), as it's Free. There's also an app that scans for cell specific stuff that "spies" on what your doing, called "Incognito" for $2-$3 (one time).
Use what you feel good about, that's just me. Just use common sense as always, of course.
But no, I have not had any issues. So either I'm secure, or they've gotten in, saw how little there is and decided that I need it more than they do and are probably working on ways to put money *in* for me.

From my experience Magisk is completely safe, it hides root very good. Some banking apps might still recognize it and block it, but you can try hide the app in the magisk manager section or even generate a random package name for the magisk manager itself if the bank app still finds it.
Also, using EdXposed (the new "unofficial" version for oreo and pie) won't affect safetynet, but again some apps might recognize it. There is a module for that called "rootcloak", it hides root, xposed and particular keywords that you can manually add, from some apps you can choose.
Last time I tried that was 2 or 3 months ago, and my banking/security apps worked normally without any problem. You just have to play around a little with those hiding-settings when you flash them the first time, that's it.

Question SafetyNet test fails issue

Hi everybody!
I recently received my X90 pro plus, after debloating the phone I wanted to connect the credit card to google wallet, after several fails, googling and looking up at the threads here what could I've been doing wrong I saw on google play that "Device is not certified" after that I've downloaded a SafetyNet Test app and to my suprise the test failed on the "CTS profile match". From what i've read it mostly fails on phones with root, but besides debloat I haven't done anything else. Did anybody had similar issue and managed to fixed it?
You should not be using SafetyNet to determine whether your device meets security requirements. SafetyNet has been replaced by Play Integrity.
Oh, didn't know that, thanks for the info . So I've checked security requirements with Play Integrity API Checker and managed to pass only on basic integrity :/, I assume that I should pass in at least in device and basic integrity, right? But the main question is does it have an impact on successfully adding a card to google wallet (I've updated already a google play store, and play services to the latest version which was recommended on other threads)
Mine also fails safety net. It did so out of the box even before debloating. I don't think debloating make any difference. The problem is that Google Wallet says that my phone isn't "trustworthy" and has been modified, even though it has not. So I cannot use Google Wallet.
Was your phone also from TradingShenzen @OthieDav and is it this CTS Profile Match "fail" that you are getting too? I was going to contact them about it because they said it would 100% pass.

Thanks, looking forward to hearing back from you. I'll also post my own follow-up when they reply.
You have mis matches with your google services.
Play services, play store/framework cannot auto update themselves from Play store itself. Vivo crap store has them often outdated. No way around periodically installing them as APK or install APKPure AppStore and make sure vivo store doesn't ever start and downgrade them again or switches apps to their own version for spying and making money from adds (many apps if installed from Vivo store will play out adds via vivo contracts - Or better BBK). Of course bbk also offers some apps they have no contracts with and then it's just a copy from Play store..apps that have widespread use in China no matter where from are mainly affected.
On funtouch this problem doesn't exist, maybe that's the main reason the global versions are so expensive, Vivo expects to make a cut from advertisement, which they can only do on China OS (or mainly)
Could you please explain a little clearer?
I installed APK Pure store. Saw there was an update for Google Play Store.
I updated it.
Seems Google Play Services, and
Google Services Framework are both the latest version.
I ran Integrity Checker:
MEETS_DEVICE_INTEGRITY: FALSE
MEETS_BASIC_INTEGRITY: TRUE
MEETS_STRONG_INTEGRITY: FALSE
SafetyNet still says: CTS Profie match. FALSE
So what would be the next step? I just want Google Wallet to work and I've heard its possible.
@luontokoodaus I've received a reply from Trading, they already got a few complains about safetyNet/integrity failing on the vivo, but they said that the next software update should fix the issue. Later I asked them if I should wait for the update or is there any other potencial fix. After that I just got a return request with slip from them without any answers to my previous question (that is a little weird tbh)
These are my results. It's kinda weird why it fails for some people.

The difference I see in my test is that my "Evaluation type" runs as BASIC not HARDWARE_BACKED, dunno why
I also can't add my card to google wallet. I checked here and with Gizop before ordering and seemed to be no issue. If I can't use the phone for payments it's going back to China
Because it's 3 googl services, not two.
Doesn't change the situation that this phone is notoriously unreliable and vivo coming up with new restrictions all the times that brick things working when you removed some spyware. In the past no problem removing the crap store or iqoo.secure, then suddenly you cannot do phone calls or remove certain apps with ADP (that before you could remove) or install apks...
The problems here are just another example for the worst UI and worst software quality on an Android phone I've ever used. Starting from Android froyo...

Because it's 3 googl services, not two.

We get it. You hate Vivo, China, whatever. Now if only your posts weren't completely useless finger pointing and other negative nonsense. Other people are actually being helpful here, whilst you only seem to find time to talk smack and waste everyone's time who reads your posts.
Post something useful or don't bother. This community owes you nothing and you seem to do nothing but argue with others, get threads locked and otherwise can't even entertain a polite request when asked.

I also can't add my card to google wallet. I checked here and with Gizop before ordering and seemed to be no issue. If I can't use the phone for payments it's going back to China

So not only a problem with Trading Shenzhen then. Weird. Well I sure hope the next software update helps.
I've contacted TS for a partial refund seeing as their product page says that they guarantee that you can use banking apps and payment apps like Google Wallet. I asked for a 10% refund.
Looks like the only step at this stage is to wait and hope a software update fixes it (very unlikely)
or
Use another phone for these apps
or
Root the phone entirely and hope that Magisk can keep the SafetyNet/Play Integrity status hidden from other apps.

you're reply looks like a bot from Vivo... I posted something useful - google services framework needs to be updated too - because the v-crapstore version is often outdated. Same as the versions for play services and play store. Only if all three versions are up to date will wallet work. And that means manual updating of these apps quite often.
Oh yeah before I didn't check, apkpure doesn't have services framework - it's available on some other sites however.
Check your framework - that has always been the solution to google wallet problems on Vivo. Just because you cannot read comprehensively not my problem.
And software updates won't fix it as long as Vivo crapstore has outdated versions of many apps - google is just one example but many other apps there are often outdated vs play store.
That has no consequences for most apps - but with google it has. On some apps it's actually more up to date sometimes - Like apps from Tencent (wechat) and maybe some more Chinese apps.
And rooting the phone will likely not be possible in any foreseeable future....

Issue sorted?
Could be. Find it kind of ironic he posts this after making that idiotic rant thread about how these phones aren't supposed to work with Google when they clearly are more than capable of doing so if the developer gives a damn. Not sure also what is the point of making two OSes when you can just make one which CAN support Google even if you don't immediately ship it with Google apps because no one in China uses it.
I am not in a huge rush to get Google Wallet working, so I'll wait until this update is taken off trial and into the stable branch. If it does work though and I can use Google Wallet afterward, then this will be a 100% perfect buy for me so far.
Same here - it's the last thing I need to work and I can't fault the phone.
