VZW/XAA/VZW - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions and Answers

Hello,
I have a Verizon Note 8 with Service provider SW ver. VZW/XAA/VZW instead of VZW/VZW/VZW on bootloader v4. The problem I have is under Mobile Networks, I dont have an option to change to Global or LTE/CDMA. My Preferred network mode is set to CDMA/EVDO/GSM/WCDMA. My only options under Preferred network mode are LTE/3G/2G, 3G/2G, 3G only, and 2G only. There is no option for LTE/CDMA.
Has anyone encountered this issue with Verizon phone?
Is there a solution to this problem?
My issue is that I cannot send MMS messages although everything seems to work.
Thanks in advance.

Unable to use 3G on my Nexus One

Hi,
I am using Nexus One in India, and my service provider is MTNL Mumbai. Their network is 3G enabled. I have 3G activated by the service provider too. I have put the settings for my APN, using the settings available here -- dolphin.mumbai.mtnl.net.in/cominfo/docs/general.doc (Sorry, I am not able to post links)
However, try as I might, I have only the "E" icon displayed in the status bar displayed, no 3G. The EDGE network works properly, I am able to surf, but of course, it is horribly slow.
Things I have tried:
- Settings, Mobile networks, uncheck "Use 2G networks only"
- Go to test menu (*#*#4636#*#*) and set the phone mode to "WCDMA only"
- Searched google for people having the same problem
When I set the network mode to "WCDMA only", for some time it shows no network, and then again drops back to "WCDMA Preferred", and shows the "E" icon. My N-1 was bought from Singapore, it original had the EPF21B build on it. Hence, I am assuming that my radio is hardware compatible with my service provider..? MTNL uses European 3G frequencies. Also, the problem is the service itself, since I am able to activate and use 3G properly in my Nokia E51.
Currently, I am running the FRF50 Froyo build - I have unlocked the bootloader and rooted my N1. However, the same problem used to occur on the stock EPF21B build, even when the phone was "virgin".
I'd appreciate any help. Thank you.
If I see correctly, your provider works with 2100 MHz - which would make it compatible with both Nexus versions, so the problem most likely isn't there.
Yes, MTNL Mumbai uses 2100 MHz. Any other ideas or suggestions, please?

[Q] *#*#4636#*#*

Hi all, the question i'm about to ask has been asked on the internet before but i couldnt find any satisfactory explanation for it. I wanted to change my Preferred Network Type from 3G to 2G as 3G reception is not available where i live , i read on some forums that using 2G only setting can prevent the phone from searching for 3G network intervally which may save some battery. Now, i'm confused about which mode to choose for 2G , i dialed *#*#4636#*#* and went to Phone Information, then clicked on "Preferred Network Type" which, by default, was on WCDMA Preferred, What option should i change it to? GSM Auto or GSM Only? my phone is an unlocked htc M7_U so i cant choose the GSM/WCDMA/LTE Option (it would hog even more battery i think) . Also , can changing this Preferred Network Type have any effect on anything else besides the 2G/3G Network options? i mean, is it safe as long as i change the Network type to the correct option? Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks.
I think gsm only mode.

thanks , can anyone confirm this? also , does changing Preferred Network Type has any effect on anything else besides switching between 2G/3G/4G mode?

should be fine setting to "GSM only", setting it to "LTE/4G only" could make problems, because most carriers don't support calls over LTE (mine would be an example: so if I set to LTE only, I can't make or receive calls, so when it's on auto, it automatically changes to 2G/3G during a call)
You can also just change the setting in:
Settings -> Mobile data -> Network mode -> GSM Only

No LTE with Concept Firmware

Hi,
I've got a big issue with Concept Software.
There's no LTE connection available.
I'm using latest Concept Edition 3571 on my D5803.
Any ideas how to solve?
LTE is working on Concept ROM
Is your APN correct?
Yes, APN settings should be ok.
With stock rom LTE was working properly.
Any other ideas?
I had the same problem at the beginning.
How it solved: went into service menu: *#*#SERVICE#*#* and chose LTE only.
After that, I could use the regular user interface choice and has worked ever since.

I've got the same issue on T-Mobile, with build number MMB29V.Z1.3571-somc. I tried the fix you suggested through the SERVICE menu and selected LTE only, but that just resulted in my phone displaying as no reception. Any other ideas anyone might have would be greatly appreciated!
What setting do you have at Wireless & networks / More / Cellular networks / Preferred network type? I have "LTE (recommended)", and my phone connects at LTE if available (with "LTE" displayed at the top) , but at older protocols if not.
Thanks for your replies but the SERVICE menu hint also doesn't work for me.
Seems that I've got the same problem as hwcl.

Call Issue in S10 in Exynos Indian Variant

Hello Guys,
I am having a weird issue in my S10 regarding call.(Using Airtel)
I am unable to call anyone through the phone if the Network mode is set to anything other than LTE/3G/2G (auto Connect) (e.g - 2G Only , 3G/2G and so on).
Other the LTE mode , when I try to call someone the call gets cut immediately without any message , ring or anything else.
I tried putting the sim card in my Redmi Note 5 pro and set it to 2G mode , and it worked several times.
So can anyone provide a solution or if anyone can confirm whether they are facing this issue or not?

Hello, which carrier do you have? In my case i have Idea which fails to provide a 4g+ service in certain area/region followed by which you cannot call or receive calls on LTE/3g/2g. Try using a different sim card which has 4g+ service in your area/region.
Regards

I am using Airtel 4G. There is 4G in my region, the issue is I can call when its set to LTE (4G). But setting the network to 2G or 3G causes the issue. I tested the 2G and 3G in my Redmi Note 5 Pro and they are working in that phone so I believe it's not regional issue.
Anyway I will do a factory reset to check if it works(Tried settings reset and network reset. None of them resolved the issue).

SM-G781N won't connect to 4G/5G, only works in 3G

hi
i got the phone from korea, the problem is when connecting to 4G the phone would lose internet and calls then lose the network, i get a message saying "failed to register to network (15)" but if i forced the phone to connect to 3G then it works fine. here's what i tried to fix the problem :
turning off the mobile network then turning it on
resetting the network settings
removing NR Whitelist
and none of them fixed the issue. there's a korean menu in the service mode, but i didn't miss with it. i have attached screen shots of the software information and the korean menu in the service menu.
Who provides your service? Have you tried going into network settings and APN and see what that says
If it is a Korean phone and you aren't in Korea and it is locked into the network then you won't be able to get service somewhere else I don't think
