[ROM][UNOFFICIAL][7.1.2]Lineage OS 14.1 for A500FU[A5ULTEXX] - Galaxy A3, A5, A7, A8, A9 Android Development

Abandoned
LINEAGEOS 14.1
Intro:
There doesn't appear to be any active Lineage OS version for the Galaxy A500FU so I decided to try and build it myself using sources from @DeadSquirrel01. I successfully created the build and now it's up to you lot to report the bugs and for me to find them! Do not expect me to add any new features other than are already available on official Lineage 14.1 devices. Any new updates will likely only bring bug and security fixes.
Installation Instructions:
1) I recommend using TWRP recovery to install LineageOS
2) Make a nandroid backup in case you decide you prefer whatever you were on before
3) Wipe the system, data, cache and dalvik-cache
4) Flash the Lineage zip
5) Flash the GApps zip (Do this right after flashing the Lineage zip)
Downloads:
1) Open Gapps zip (Download the variant of your choice)
2) TWRP
3) Lineage OS

I'm testing it right now. How does it compare to DeadSquirrel's ROM in terms of bugs ?

I've been running it for the last 4 days.
In theory it should have the same bugs that were on DeadSquirrel's ROM as I haven't (yet) modified his source files.
These would include the torch slowness to turn on.
On the first day of using it, the touch screen would occasionally become unresponsive until i locked the phone then turned the screen on again. I haven't faced this issue since.
My build has the latest security patches and a few new features which you can read about from here:
Lineage Changelog
And every changelog since then...
As said in the post, I'd say this release is quite stable and suitable as a daily driver. I haven't faced any crashes whatsoever.

how about on echo during making a standard phone call where the reception got echo voice of their own while caller got no problem like that? i heard its because of kernel. its right sir?
im using previous build lineage 14.1 (a500F)

Went ahead and tested this.
No issue found such as the one you described.
I made and received calls from my a500fu running this build, and I also used a different phone to call and receive calls from my phone. Call audio was fine on both ends and no echo.

You can try and see how well this ROM runs on your a500f, no harm in that.
I think most if not all the sources are for a5 in general so this will boot on all a5 variants and may be quite stable.

Great work! @DeadSquirrel01 has also begun working on an Oreo version for this device. Maybe you could also look into that? It's not in a very stable state yet, tough, so it might require quite some work.

Thanks krmax44
If this is what you are referring to:
https://github.com/DeadSquirrel01/lineage-15_a5_releases
Then I'm sorry to say but @DeadSquirrel01 has stopped developing it and the final release is from february. The reason for this can be found in the commits.
I will release a 15.1 lineage os for this device eventually, however currently I'm trying to sort through some build errors for it.

And will both SIM work? F and FU differ only in the number of SIM cards, and I care about the work of both SIM. Sorry for the bad English.

I don't have an a500f so I have no way of testing if both sims work.
On deadsquirrel's rom he made a flashable zip which claims to fix ril issues for dual sim variants.
Flash my rom and if sim card is not detected then do complete wipe, flash my lineage zip again, then flash this:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4248130&d=1503320229
And then flash the open gapps zip.

That's strange mate, I've successfully flashed it on my device.
Make sure you use the twrp I linked to in OP.
Also as the version you are using is from deadsquirrel and quite a while ago, maybe a full wipe and then install will help.

I made a kernel from Jiayu S3 (built in drivers from K3note there). There are problems with a sound (I added the tfa driver to a kernel - perhaps that I missed that). I added CAM CAL similar to source code 6.0 - but cameras don't give operation signs.
Here in this post on 4pda (I have no access to spread links to XDA - I have no 10 posts)
At the moment I download the source code (in the form of archive). on Github didn't begin to load.

ok working on this now
Thanks for Effort to port smooth and faster 7 on K3N.
I've found a 7.1 ROM here- "www(dot)needrom.com/download/aosp-8/comment-page-5/#comment-303899". It works fine for me.
But some issues found-
1. DT2W not works.
2. Rill not works.
3. Bluetoothe.
4. Notification light ignite randomly.
5. Auto Rotation is so logy.
6. Flashlight not works.
7. Camera.
primarily above are diagnosed to me.
Excluding the above it works fine for me. Looks so nice. Works smooth on wifi.
Waiting for the next stable update.
Thanks.

[ROM][UNSTABLE][5.1.1] MIUI9 testing on Osprey

You want MIUI 9? There are still no fancy threads for MIUI 9 on osprey. I tried to port it. Now people should test it!
Installing is usual - MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR OLD ROM, Wipe, Install the new zip. GApps are included Out-of-the-Box.
After installing:
1. Tell if it boots
If it doesn't: say what SKU is your phone (for example mine is XT1441)
2. Tell us what works and what doesn't
3. If at least calling works and Wi-Fi works, you can try using it as a daily driver. Tell us how battery goes.
Do all that in the "Reviews" tab on the top of this thread.
I'm going to try it out, too. And I'm going to tell you what happened.
Download the ROM through the "Downloads" tab.

UPDATE: Base Android changed to Marshmallow by requests from this thread and for better compatibility.

* Reverted base to Lollipop. Looks like even Mi 4 isn't compatible with our device. I'm going to upgrade back to Marshmallow or Nougat when official MIUI 9 comes out.
* We have some progress - the kernel now works and the phone starts booting. It hangs on the boot animation. Please send logcats. I will look through mine, too.
2017.10.28 - Test3 (Marshmallow):
* Switched base to Marshmallow
* Also not booting because of the wrong architecture.
2017.10.26 - Test2 (Lollipop):
* Flashing but not booting
2017.10.26 - Test1 (Lollipop):
* Initial Release

GApps are included out of the box, so don't worry about that. Again, don't plan to use this as a daily driver. Just test it and tell if it works.
If there is some problem ,then its wouldn't hard brick my device, right?I have only one phone ?

Don't worry! It won't hard brick it. You will just need to reflash your ROM with something stable, like Lineage OS, for example.
Ok then, I'll flash it ASAP
It will be nice if there is marshmallow or Nougat.

I'm sorry. In MIUI it doesn't matter that much what Android version are you running. And I don't think Lollipop is obsolete. I just chose it because Redmi 2 runs our chipset and it's the easiest device to port from.

[Rom][UNOFFICIAL]Lineage-15.1[SM-T217S]

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 8.1 (Oreo), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
Code:
/*
* Your warranty is now void. Knox 0x1.
*
* We are not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
* do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
* before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
* you point the finger at us for messing up your device, we will laugh at you.
*/
LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. You will need to provide your own Google Applications package (gapps). LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
WARNING:
If you find any bugs, bring a logcat. Logs are helpful....
If your problem cannot be reproduced without using Root modules or Xposed, don't report it! The same goes with custom kernels.
Not working:
Camera or Video recording
Encryption not working in TWRP
Data
Prerequisites:
The latest version of TWRP. This is an absolute requirement.
Your device (it better be a Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 (Sprint)).
How to flash this ROM:
So you really want to do this, huh? That must mean you accept the risks specified in the disclaimer, and that you read the warning.
From other custom ROMs (this assumes you already unlocked your bootloader a long time ago):
Download the zip file for your device (link is below).
Reboot into TWRP (Volume Up + Home + Power or Advanced Restart).
Make a backup (optional).
Perform a factory reset (Wipe > Swipe to Factory Reset).
Flash the ROM you just downloaded.
Flash OpenGApps for Android 8.1 if you want Google services (optional).
If you want root, flash Magisk or SuperSU
Reboot and proceed normally with installation.

I'm guessing a kernel for Lineage OS 15.1 wouldn't work with Lineage OS 14.1 ? I'm not ready to make the leap onto Oreo yet, but I'll be damned if I can find a good, non-stock kernel for LOS 14.1 on my SM-T217S. I've tried repeatedly to compile my own from all the sources that are readily available, but the OS just hangs saying that Lineage OS is starting... and that's just the stock source with the specific commits for this device. I can't figure out if it's the toolchain I'm using or what.
Thanks for the time and effort that you've put into this, though. Having begun to try to do this kind of thing myself has really given me a new appreciation for the work that you and other XDA members do. Hopefully one day I'll be compiling my own ROM builds for y'all too.

Kernel source compiles based upon device. The kernel from 14.1 or 15.1 should be interchangeable. If the ROM boots to the initial screen then its probably not a kernel issues but another issue why it won't boot. You have to take a adb log and look at the output to determine why its hanging.
residentorca said:
With SIM inserted I see a persistent notification atop the notification panel that says No SIM card - No service. When I remove and re-insert the SIM, the message remains. Because of this I am unable to toggle cellular data on and off using the status bar Mobile data switch or in Settings-Mobile Network. All items are greyed out under Settings-Mobile Network. When I access the "Testing" menu by dialing *#*#4636#*#* and then select Tablet Info I am unable to Enable Data Connection. I recall that after the first boot after flashing your ROM the Cellular setup wizard never started even after removing and reinserting the SIM card. I don't think this is relevant but I did not flash any GAPPS package. I did flash the file 2016.02.08 Freedompop_APNs_fix.zip which I obtained from a different thread and has worked on other ROMs. My SIM is for FreedomPop which uses the Sprint data network. I did collect logcat and Bug Report files to share with you if you think they may help. Let me know if I may provide any additional information. Thanks!

Thanks I will take a look at the logs. Ya I don't have a sim to insert maybe I can find a friend who has a old one lying around. Did the sim show inserted on my previous build?

It might work if you flashed a custom kernel but the blobs are slightly different so idk the answer. It would be up to you, I can't provide support as I don't have that device.

So I been looking at the radio files I used. I am thinking they would work. But they were made for a different device but do work with serranotexx which I assumed would be work with this device. Obviously I believe this is the issue, I will try to do a rebuild semi soon to see if I can sort that out. The hardware is slightly different between the s4 and this.

[KERNEL][6+] s1mple espresso

I don't like large threads. My old espresso needs an up, so where we go.
It's based on latest omap4 common by unlegancy-android with these changes:
Compiled with custom Linaro GCC by @Christopher83.
CPU underclocked to 200MHz and overclocked up to 1400MHz.
GPU overclocked up to 512MHz. (384 default)
Custom voltages based on user experience.
Touch boost from franco kernel. (default boost set to 1200MHz)
Mini-FAQ:
Q: It works on all ROMs? Nougat?
R: It should work on any recent ROM who use omap4 common by unlegancy-android.
Q: All variants?
R: Due compatibility issues it could be not work on some devices/combinations, test it.
If won't work, please provide the variant, ROM, TWRP and last_kmsg if possible.

Q: Is safe 1400MHz on espresso?
R: Yes, passed my stability tests without problems.
Q: Works with ramdisk mods? (Magisk)
R: Yes, by AnyKernel2.
Code:
Change CPU max clock:
# echo 'x' > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq
x = 1080000, 1200000, 1300000, 1400000
Change GPU max clock:
# echo 'x' > /sys/devices/platform/omap/pvrsrvkm.0/sgxfreq/frequency_limit
x = 153600000, 384000000, 512000000
Make boot and system backup before installation, download.

Didn't work for me
Tried to install it over AICP and just boot looped.
Then I installed ResurectionRemix and installed the kernel and had the same results.
Used TWRP 3.2.0.0
Thanks for trying to give us something new for our old Tab2

I checked these ROMs and they use omap4 common, should have worked, maybe a ramdisk issue, to be fair I just tested it with recent OmniROM MM and it's working fine, I will try these.
THANK YOUUU FINALLY A NEW KERNEL HERE...does it work on nougat Roms?

I tested today with ResurectionRemix by @smart-t78 and works well, the first boot without s1mple taken so much time, then I switch off and powered on, it booted.

Yeah, tested with latest Lineage 14.1, however, I found an issue about frequency scaling, it boots with max frequency of 300MHz
But you can change it using adb/terminal later.
New build up :fingers-crossed:
Now it's compiled with custom Linaro GCC by @Christopher83
Added touch boost from franco kernel :highfive: (interactive governor only, configurable)
Removed 200MHz in attempt to fix frequency scaling issues
OP updated.
Installed latest OmniRom 6 booted and then installed S1mple kernel. Left it to boot for 1 hour and it never booted. turned off and tried again, not luck.
re-installed my AICP backup.
Might try it with Slim6 when I have some time, but would prefer an unrooted rom since I use netflix.

Thanks @dcastro172 a new custom kernel sounds like fun, would be very cool to have something more or less stable with this significant OC added, I'll need to check this out when I'm near to my p5110 soon.. :good:

Did you try with Andi's builds or from official Omni website? espresso3g or wifi? It will only work with recent Andi's builds, I'm running it and works well.
Doesn't boot on latest lineageOS and needs restoring boot & system to get back a working device, here's a demsg.log....

"OT response to close": Only been able to get netflix to work by sideloading on ROM that is unrooted no gapps .
Magisk 16 has been problematic for me. 14 was okay. I would use magisk 14 to root to enable OC on s1mple kernel.

FYI, I have a P3113,
The newer (maybe 2018) are default libion and it is said not to flash any custom kernels as they are not compatible.... So is this the reason some people have some trouble?
Excellent! Finally a overclockable kernel for our devices! Thank you very much Mr. dcastro172! Will test and report here ASAP!

Well, recent ROMs with updated repos from unlegancy/lineageos builds with standard libion by default, my fork will only work with standard libion, some outdated ROMs use TI's libion and will not work, I think it's not the issue since @Skarni tried with latest OmniROM from @Android-Andi (which use standard libion) and won't worked for his P3113 while my P5110 woks perfectly.
And the dmesg from @Sam Nakamura is not much useful why it's from his reboot after the bootloop, I thought it has a SELinux issue but it's not, however I looked at second line and it looks like an old official build:
Code:
<5>[ 0.000000] Linux version 3.0.101-gbb24628 ([email protected]) (gcc version 4.8 (GCC) ) #1 SMP PREEMPT Sat Dec 9 09:46:13 UTC 2017
I'm trying figure it by looking at unlegancy/lineageos commits if I'm missing something but no luck yet.

Make sure do a backup why people are running in boot issues, if you run in boot issue please take a "cat /proc/last_kmsg > /sdcard/kmsg.txt" in TWRP terminal.

Not sure why the log referenced this old build, as said before I'm actually on the latest official lineageOS build from 11th February 2018 as seen on the screenshot.
I gladly provide more logs if you tell me exactly what could be of use for you...
Edit: the referenced kernel version is the one included in TWRP, check the build dates from official twrp.me and the log reference....

No, there would have to be a different build to get the phone features. But if you don't care about the phone features, you can edit the updater script so that it will flash successfully on n8000.

Please... I am searching for a rom for this Note 10.1.
But, it is the Verizon SCH-I925. Exactly the same as the N8013, but...... freaking Verizon.
It is already rooted. I am just trying to upgrade (update) the Android from 4.1.2 to something a little more usable.
I have been searching all through the site. Was about to try the CyanogenMod 12.1 rom but I was unsure if it would work.
Can you help?
does your latest build for n8000 fix the mtp issue that Don Carnage has on his build?
thanks

Is the LineageOS 14.1 build on this thread related to the one at here? https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-10-1/development/rom-lineageos-14-1-t3848514/

I've installed the new build on my note 10.1 8010 and flashed it with the arm 7.1 nano Gapps which constantly pops up with the "Setup Wizard keeps stopping" error.
I've tried using the pico version and this didn't work either.
Reviewing some fixes online say that i should grant permissions to Contact and Telephone, but these have already been granted to the Setup wizard.
Another fix is to make sure you have Wifi connected, which it is.
I've cleared cache and wiped everything many times to see if it was a way i was installing Gapps, attempting to install it right after the rom was installed, installed the rom, then booted and then installed Gapps...
..tried lots of different methods but nothing seems to work.
Using TWRP.
Are you able to help, or anyone help? Been at this for days now and really out of ideas.
Thanks
Edit: correction on something: - The com.google.android.setupwizard has permissions to the Contacts and Telephone. I've found another SetupWizard which isn't asking for any permissions at all.
