Mi 8 Kernel - Xiaomi Mi 8 Questions & Answers

Xiaomi just announced the Pocophone F1 and they said that they will release kernel source code on 29th August. How is this even possible?! The Mi8 is their flagship of this year isn't it? I hope they will release it for us with the Pocophone kernel.

Also they started beta tester recruitment on MIUI official forum and there is written that Pocophone supports Dolby. I think that Mi8 is like Mi Mix - a Concept phone. Oh, and it has stereo.

Mi 5 vs Mi 5s custom rom and software developement

Hi all !
My Mi 2s seems old after 3 years old (two batteries KO, the phone stills fast as the first day ), and then I will buy another Xiaomi.
The Mi 5 is a very popular smarthpone, has a lot of ROMs and kernels in comparison to his announcement date, but the Mi 5s has a bit of improvement (Snap 821, LPDDR4 at 1866Mhz, Sony IMX378, 3200mAh battery ect...) and has the same hardware of the Google Pixel (821 and IMX378), but at first look seems not popular as the Mi 5 for the marketing.
In your opinion, if I can buy Mi 5 and Mi 5s at the same price (version 3/64), wich of those has more chance of still supported from developers of custom roms like Cyanogenmod ecc..?
Will be possible a porting of some features or ROMs of Google Pixel to the Mi 5s?
I don't want to buy a phone like the Xiaomi Mi 4S, wich don't have any custom rom!
So thanks for the attention, have a good day!
The point that you've made with the marketing is why I don't think the Mi5s will have a lot of ROMs. This and the fact that Xiaomi released the kernel source for the Mi5 6 months after its release, so even if there will be, it's not gonna be so soon.
As of now I'd recommend you to stick with your current phone for some time and watch the progress of each phone's development section, but if it's custom ROMs you care about, you should probably choose the Mi5.
Even though the Mi5s has slightly better hardware, it's still soon to talk about its development.
I think that the Xiaomi MI5s won't have a succes like to the MI5 and the MI5 has an official cyanogenmod build and Mokee build and some plenty of port ROM wich work great like RR, OMNI ROM, SLIM ROM,...
Mi 5s Development didnt start yet, xiaomi will release it's source Code after a few month maybe a year. For now i think mi 5 has better development

Hello, today I bought headphones Airdots Pro 2 and I can't see animation on my Xiaomi Mi 9 V11.0.8.0.QFAEUXM. Thank you for answers.
The animation was removed by Xiaomi on Android 10. We can only wait for them to restore it.
And you don't know when the LHDC codec will be supported?
I can only say you the same thing, we dont know. Mi 9 can support LHDC codec but is in Xiaomi hands give support or not. There is no info about that.
Thank you for answers.

Redmi 9 source code.

Do anyone have any information about when the redmi 9 source coad release?
The source code aside, looks like the Redmi 9 is late to the party even for MIUI 12 global beta. Only China dev is available. Even the Redmi 9c already has a beta. The problem is Xiaomi has saturated the market this year in a reaction to Realme and it doesn't help when it comes to things like releasing source code so early like it used to be. This year the Redmi 9 series alone has at least 3 or 4 different devices! Recently they released the Poco M2 which is basically the same as the Redmi 9/Redmi 9 Prime or whatever they call it

As I knew that all of them has one name board ( Lancelot), Anyway the way of xiaomi recent years is being annoying .
Codenames are different. Redmi 9 (lancelot), 9a (angelica), 9c (dandelion). 9a and 9c use Helio G35 while 9 and M2 use G80. Maybe Xiaomi wanted to first release the Poco M2 (gram) before releasing the source code since their Poco brand is developer friendly with the device identical to the global 9 or 9 prime in India.
Redmi 9 ,redmi 9 prime, poco m2 all are same device but different name.
Why xiaomi do it?
To make sure the Indians think that Poco-labeled devices have nothing to do with China =]]
