Dual SIM flashing CSC for VoLTE and Wifi Calling - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Questions & Answers

Hi All,
Is it possible to get a dual sim model (I am in Canada), and then flash a canadian CSC that is meant for a single sim device so i can get VoLTE and Wifi calling? What would be the best way to get the dual sim version to use all features of the Telus network?
Thanks!

I imagine flashing the CSC of a single sim device would mean you'd lose access to the second sim slot. I'm in a similar boat with an unlocked single sim note 9 and while I have voLTE I have no wifi calling on verizon. I just flashed verizon CSC and no luck.

You will need the WiFi app from vz firmware. What model are you using?

Can someone else also confirm? I am reading a bit of conflicting information. If I flash a Canadian CSC, do I lose dual sim capabilities?

Your best bet might be to wait until a rooted combination ROM comes out for your model. Root allows a lot more flexibility with international devices and the firmware they can run.

Hi thanks for the response...but i'm a little lost...what does this mean? Will it work on the dual sim model, or not? thanks!

I'm not on a dual SIM Note 9, just a single, But the topic & processes here are interchangeable & the info I need fits this thread so I figured to ask. Sorry if I offended anyone.
What about note 9 Canada snapdragon model SM-N960W ESK (EASTLINK) which is my current setup. Phone is carrier unlocked. Question is Can I use the hidden code on the phone that looks like....
*#272*555777555333555# where the 5s 7s & 3s would be my IMEI? select BMC (Bell Mobile Canada) and CSC will be changed? Or To change the CSC and unlock wifi calling do I Flash bell firmware and if so do I do the phone code change after installing bell firmware? I hear that is the process and once completed I just pop in my ESK (EASTLINK) SIM card and I'm good to go & should have wifi calling & my current working Eastlink carrier. I hear I'll end up with just bell branded phone & bloatware & have to wait for bell updates not Eastlink ones.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
#################################
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Do I pick option: sales code change
or option: network code change
--------------------------------------------------------------------
#################################
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Here is my service provider info, also I'm still on bootloader v1 & not rooted.
Second of all could I Flash XAC firmware then boot up with bell sim in phone, I read XAC phones will pick up carrier of the first SIM that is put into the phone. I have a bell SIM but the SIM isn't activated so will it still work? If it does than after that I go back to my Eastlink SIM?
Right now I'm on Android v8.1.0 because I wanted to keep call recording:
Can anybody help me out? I need the process clearly stated & proven to work. I've been researching for days and see a lot of contradictory comments & various methods. I'm not dumb, rooted many phones (not this one.... Yet) but am not familiar with every term for things. Much thanks. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
If you need any more information from me please let me know, I check XDA Forums daily.

The XAC will adapt to any SIM put in the service from a Canadian carrier. If you put a Bell SIM in and then switch to Rogers. Once you out that Rogers SIM in, it will adapt and convert automatically.
Instead of using the dialer code, let the firmware do the work for you. All carrier sold devices in Canada are XAC.

From what I've seen in my quest to identify the bands present in the ComCasT (Xfinity) version, CCT is the Xfinity Mobile version firmware, which is similar to Verizon's firmware in bands supported.
Cricket's 3 letter prefix is AIO (named for its parent company Aio Wireless
Thanks to the OP for uploading the original CCT firmware, as I am getting that model w/ their $300 prepaid card rebate.
Quick question. The file download says Note 8. Are you sure this is for the Note 9?

Of course it's for the Note 9, it's in the folder of Note 8, so maybe that's why your seeing that part , couldn't create a solo section for Note 9 cause AFH hasn't as of yet added the Note 9.

Hey guys, just a warning. I flashed this to downgrade my Tmobile from ARH2. Flashed BL, AP, and CP. Now my phone won't completely unlock with the pattern. It doesn't tell me my pattern is wrong but what happens is after I swipe my pattern, the phone will black out as if it's unlocking, then goes back to the locked screen.
Anyone know how to get around this?
I'm downloading the TMB version of ARH2 which I'm hoping will fix it.
UPDATE: Fixed it by flashing the current Tmobile ARH2 firmware. So if you have T-mobile, please don't flash this.
Same thing happened to me. Booting into recovery mode and doing a full wipe fixed it. I am on Xfinity Mobile so I wanted their firmware. So far though, I am finding that nothing is different overall. There is a Video Calling feature in the menu now and the boot animation is Xfinity. Other than that, VOLTE and HD Voice was already working on the unlocked firmware. Xfinity has not enabled Wifi Calling on any Android phones yet so that point is moot.
I am on ARH4. Is that floating around somewhere?

SM-960F/DS.. CSC's... VoLTE, Wifi Calling....

My dad got me a Note 9 from the middle east (exynos, dual sim). Its Active CSC is KSA. I live in Canada and have been using it without any issues for the past few months. I was also able to recently update it to Pie since KSA is part of the OXM multi-csc.
I don't see an option for WiFi Calling, don't have VoLTE, and can't use Samsung Pay. I've been reading around for a few months now trying to wrap my head around all things Samsung (since this is my first Samsung phone...). I understand that this is due to my phone having KSA as the active CSC and being used in Canada? My provider (Rogers) has confirmed that they have WiFi calling activated on my line.
I was hoping someone could point me the right direction if there is any solution to this? There is no dual-sim version in Canada so I assume flashing some other Canadian firmware won't work (as it would be for a single-sim model).
Change CSC in THL. Follow the guide carefully:

Thanks for the information. I'm wondering what CSC am I changing the phone? Canada is not part of the OXM Multi-CSC? The Canadian versions are also single-sim not DS. Can I use the method to change the CSC to a Canadian carrier's CSC and then still flash the Multi-CSC firmware?
You have Note 9 exynos variant, so you have nothing to lose . Because you will be in the same situation as the first time when you put the sim. If you change CSC ( THL) you will have wificall and volte and native call recording. That's what I did. The only difference is the sim , and I do not think it influences anything.
Dial *#1234# to find current firmware details.
ATTENTION! : after installing PIE Do NOT start the first setup with SIM. It changed the CSC back with sim!!!

Ok - So I went through the process. I used RealTerm and changed the CSC to XAC (Canada, unbranded). Note that this is not part of the OXM Multi-CSC. After everything was done, the phone defaulted to XEU (United Kingdom). Trying the method again with SIM card inserted before restart didn't change this outcome. However, this whole time I was using the XSG (UAE) firmware to update the phone.
I will now try again with the THL firmware and hope that it works!
I'm assuming Samsung Pay will still be unavailable?
Samsung Pay will be available for unroot knox= 0x0! And Caller ID and spam protection.
Thanks for all your help so far. Things that I've learned so far:
1) Changing the CSC through the method you shared didn't really work when it was outside of the OXM Multi-CSC. For example, I tried changing CSC to RWC (Rogers, Canada) or XAC (Canada, Unbranded). When I did this and flashed any of the latest SM-N960F firmware (whether XSG, DBT, or THL) -- the device would default to XEU (United Kingdom). I'm assuming this is happening because the manually set Canadian CSC doesn't exist within the OXM multi-csc.
2) I tested this out by setting the CSC to THL and flashing the THL firmware. This time it did indeed change to THL firmware. Unfortunately, things like WiFi Calling and VoLTE were still not available. Samsung Pay worked - but didn't let me add any Canadian cards.
Rooting is obviously not an option on this phone due to tripping knox. Maybe sometime down the road someone can figure it out.
Or you can try to change for SM-N960W model.

SM-960W is the Snapdragon single-sim variant. I feel worst case it will fry the phone. Best case, I'll lose the dual-sim capability..
Have u tried installing the Canadian csc going into recovery wiping cache and then doing a reset from there? Then reboot with your Canadian sim only installed (no other sim or second sim if dual). Usually this triggers the correct csc code

Seems like the only way to do that would be to root the device since there is no SM-N960F in Canada -- only SM-N960W. So all the Canadian firmware is for SM-N960F. My understanding is that I would have to root the device and then change the CSC based on this discussion:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...960n-n960u-n960u1-n960w-n9600-t3833721/page18
If I follow the method explained earlier by changing CSC with RealTerm -- the device rejects the the Canadian CSC (e.g. XAC or RWC) and defaults to XEU (which is part of the OXM mutli-csc).

Would I be using THL for T-Mobile in USA as well? I have SM-N960F D/S phone running Android Pie.
No. Not for T-Mobile.

Unlocked Note 8 No wifi calling, volte, or advanced messaging

I've already read a bunch of forums on this and finally got into the ims settings but they all say "false" Is there any way with or without root to enable the settings. If I do have to root it, what do I do after to activate these features? The phone has the T-Mobile boot animation and receives T-Mobile software updates. I'm using it on MetroPCS. If I switched to T-Mobile would the features work then? My last phone was a locked T-Mobile S8 and that worked fine on MetroPCS with all the features. Thank you.

I'm guessing the phone started on AT&T firmware, and was not correctly moved to TMB. XAA means U1 fw (att + tmb are U). You're using Frankenstein software, suppose that's part of the problem. If you flash the Tmobile fw with your SIM inserted it should fix that.

This was originally an ATT device. That's what the 3rd CSC Code tells you. It can't be changed, but it also doesn't affect anything.
My guess is someone flashed this to the N960U1 firmware, and then just flashed the T-Mobile CSC file. Probably to get back RCS texting or Video calling. But it left you with Frankenstein firmware.
Just flash a full T-Mobile firmware through ODIN. Use the CSC_OYN file, not the HOME_CSC file. Flash all five files. It will force a factory reset, but should get you back on the full T-Mobile firmware.
If it goes right, you'll end up with TMB/TMB/ATT. which is what I also have.

As it is not on US firmware it is being software restricted from supporting VoLTE. There is no US firmware and little to no development for this phone. Sony has not announced any plans for a us version or for a US kernel.
I LOVE this phone but the lack of VoLTE became a huge issue when major carriers and shared networks announced they would no longer support phones without this feature. They're also shutting down older frequencies on towers in prep for 5G. If it at least supported Wi-Fi calling that would help but it doesn't.
Even I need assistance with similar issue, I am using a UK model in India. I am struggling without VoLTE or VoWIFI support. Can somebody help me what we can do.

I changed my firmware to SEA customization and I have now the VoLTE option for activate in network settings, sadly, in Paraguay there is no operator with VoLTE support to test, but you could try if you want

What kind of problem you are facing bcz I am planing to buy form UK also
I have the xperia 10 ii and did have T-Mobile but can confirm it works on google fi with VoLTE and wifi calling support as long as you activate the sim card in a google fi supported phone first. I switch just to support this phone and get a cheaper bill
Mine has the HK firmware on it but I'm sure this will work with any of the firmwares on it. The fi sim card must be in the first sim card slot it will not work in sim slot 2

Ok so from fully updated rom and boot loader locked flashing SEA customization worked and I toggled on VOLTE. I then let straight talk route me to there thing saying my sim doesnt support the VOLTE network. once it forwarded me to waiting cue it hung up. This made the network try VOLTE thinking I got help and it turned on lol. Using Volte on At&T network in america

Hi! May I ask how does regional customization affect the availability of the VoLTE option?
I am using Xperia 10 II (came with HK customization stock firmware) in Japan, and my operator is Rakuten Mobile. I don't have the VoLTE option and it's kind of a huge problem since the operator is a fairly new one and has no GSM/UMTS network, so I can't make or receive any phone calls. Data works fine after adjusting the preferred network type to LTE only.
Can I do the same thing (flashing the SEA customization) to get the VoLTE option? I would like to know what exactly controls whether the option is available if that is ok.

Yes, my phone was from HK also, and after I flashed SEA customization, VoLTE option appeared and I can use VoLTE, now we have a operator here in Paraguay with VoLTE and works as expected

Should I flash the whole firmware downloaded with Xperifirm or only some specific files?
Also, could you please explain why SEA customization gives you the VoLTE option? Sorry if that is a dumb question.
