FULLY working sprint z2 on t-mobile wifi calling, volte, band 12, etc - Moto Z2 Force Guides, News, & Discussion

I just got one of the z2 force on the sprint deal, but am on t-mobile. I need wifi calling at work and abroad, so no wifi calling is a showstopper. I flashed a bunch of the "flashall" packages but kept getting issues like no wifi, no network, or on sprint no wifi calling. So I just tried frankensteining a package together, and miraculously it seems to be working!!
WARNING I have been using this for a couple days, everything seems fine, but your life is in your own hands.
We will basically be flashing the boot, oem, system, and system_b img files OVER a regular sprint flashall package.
I start with
unlocked bootloader
newest sprint flashall package, 27.109-48-6
newest tmobile package 27.109-51-7
(get these here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/z2-force/how-to/how-to-return-to-stock-sprint-t3694783)
extract the 2 packages
copy all system.img, system_b.img, boot.img, and oem.img FROM TMOBILE folder TO SPRINT folder
flashall the new franken SPRINT package
make sure you wipe (fastboot -w) before or after, however most scripts do this
Now you can root and sim unlock if you havent already done so. Hopefully this works for everyone like it has for me.
4g stays on during a call, this looks like volte and data works during the call
wifi calling works
I will be making a full package with all of this, but it'll take me a couple hours to compress and upload. Just got super excited because it seems lots of people are having this issue and there aren't any solutions.
this same concept can probably be used for other carriers, but I only have tmobile.
UPDATE got magisk working, turns out you ALSO need to move the boot.img from the Tmobile package, then just install magisk the way the other threads show. Changed instructions to match. **Updating package now!**
Here's the modified package, just extract and flashall.bat (including magisk fix, but not rooted on install)

Question, why not just use tmobile or is there some issue with that. Anyway, does the end result still end with sprint bloatware?

The tmobile rom either has either broken wifi or network. There is no sprint bloat because it is using the tmobile system and oem images. You get some tmobile "bloat" but its pretty clean. I'm assuming that it ends up being virtually identical to a tmobile z2 force, but on a sprint z2 force, with everything working, as far as I can tell.

I recall someone on slickdeal mentioned this method. Can we get in trouble if tmobile detected this since our imei will not match their? Either i got both file already. Do i flashall first and then fastboot -w? or is it we go to boot loader, run fastboot -w and then we use the flashall.bat

I can't imagine why t-mobile could/would possibly care enough to even expend the money to look, but I suppose anything is possible.
fastboot -w just clears the user data (factory reset), before or after is fine, most scripts do it anyways.
I saw the deal on slickdeals, but haven't seen anyone do this, if I am wrong I will certainly give credit where it is due. I just got the idea because I saw someone flashing just the NON-HLOS (LTE radio i think).

Ok... Does wifi calling work? Does volte work? Do you just have the minimal t-mobile app package and no sprint garbage? If not, I uploaded a pre-hacked zip at the top post.

Updating. It still having the Sprint calling plus app and calling id.

I have looked all over XDA and tried multiple processes to get the Sprint branded Moto Z2 to work on T Mobile and this works perfectly. So far WiFi calling is working and the phone seems stable.

It actually has the T Mobile branding and T Mobile apps. I even did a factory reset and the T Mobile apps remained. I was able to transfer the system.img files, system_b.img files and the OEM.img file. I used the NASH_SPRINT_OCX27.109-48 batch file to execute the update.

Since it seems like you are having success, I haven't been able to get magisk working on this, it keeps bootlooping. I could very well be doing something wrong.

No, but I bet you can probably do the same thing. Start with newest Sprint package, copy over all the system.img, system_b.img, and oem.img from the retail rom the Sprint rom and flashall.

Sim unlock and bootloader unlock persists through flashing. Since I can't get magisk working on this, I'll change the directions to reflect that.

[Q] ATT GS5 + Tmobile Rom + Tmobile SIM + Wifi calling !!! Anyone?!

Hello,
Is there any one using the ATT GS5 on Tmobile network (obviously Tmobile SIM) with wifi calling working ? (Please..please.. I know ATT does not have wifi calling, But if you use a Tmobile Rom with Tmobile sim, you expect to have it working) !!
If yes, would you please share which ROM you are using ? Also if there is a trick to make it wok please share it?
Thanks
no luck so far
This is not a solution, I just wanted to report what I have tried so far.
I have a G900A with a t-mobile SIM card. I called TMO to make sure wifi calling was enabled on my line. I used towelroot + safestrap to install the t-mobile Alliance rom (B4), as well as the latest stock TMO rom. So far, wifi calling does not work. It is always stuck on "Enabling" in the calling options menu. VoLTE doesn't work either, but I wasn't expecting it to. My guess is that there is something in the TMO baseband that makes these things work and that ATT phones don't have.
Any hints and ideas would me much appreciated!

JJ here,
I tried this ROM - [ROM] G900TUVU1BNH5 ported from TMobile, rooted, deodexed, no knox, Download Booster
... everything works, nice and smooth, but the Wifi Calling is stuck "Enabling"...
Same boat.
My att s5 is unlocked and on the tmobile network. Your telling me i can flash the tmobile stock rom? And everything will be working properly, except wifi calling?

does anyone know if the same issue will happen with the international version?
On a similar topic, my dad has a AT&T Samsung Galaxy S5 which was sold in Malaysia. And I found out that his phone was not able to hotspot. I have downloaded the official firmware of Samsung Galaxy S5 for Malaysia and was going to use Odin to flash the firmware into his phone. Does that work and not brick the phone? The phone seems to be unlocked as it can be used here except the firmware and the phone is AT&T barnded. Any advise? Thanks

It all works!
Guys, I have some great news. Both wifi calling AND VoLTE now work on my SM-G900A on the T-mobile network. Here is what I did:
I installed the latest ATT firmware (OA1), released earlier this February. OTA update did not work, so I had to flash the original firmware (ANCE) via Odin, and then flash the two subsequent updates using update.zip on the SD Card. This will remove safestrap and root, but fear not.
Once my phone had AO1 installed, I used this tutorial to root the phone again. It invonves temporarily flashing an earlier (ND3) kernel, using TowelRoot, and then reflashing the OA1 kernel
With my OA1 rooted, I installed safestrap. Make sure you install busybox first.
With safestrap, I installed the T-mobile Alliance Rom (build B4).
Seconds after booting, both Wifi Calling and Voice over LTE work!
Enjoy!
Guillaume
Hi Guillaume,
Have you tried just installing the stock T-mobile 5.0 firmware on a Att GS5 ?
I have my GS5 in ND3 rooted and I'm on Tmobile, but the procedure you have seems really long...
I really need wifi calling as I'm travelling a lot and it allows to call my wife when I'm back in France.
Thanks

Thanks as this is great news for us G900A users on TMO! Question though: After 0A1 installed/backedup and Alliance installed, did you use safestrap [TWRP] to restore your data from 0A1 install?

Actually no; I had been using the t-mo alliance rom using safestrap for a long time (just with the old ATT modem and kernel), so I just restored the data associated with that.
Some more info after a day of tests:
You can also install the 5th build of Alliance Rom, it works too
The camera sometimes glitches a bit; toggling HDR on/off fixes it
Except for the camera glitch I'm pretty happy with it!

I might to try to create a flashable zip from the latest t-mobile lollipop release, keeping only the /system files, and see how that goes. This is really a shot in the dark, hoping that the 4.4.4 modem and kernel from ATT somehow work well enough with the t-mobile lollipop rom. Damn you locked bootloader!

Agree with the last expletive.
I did install in alliance B4 in slot 1 of Safestrap and both wi-fi tether and calling worked well. However, my G900A would not reboot or shutdown (dark screen) without a battery pull. After power up...worked?!?!
Did you install as "Stock" or in a slot?
Also have a G870A (Active). Do you know of anyone attempting the 0A1 method and Alliance Rom with the s5 Active?

I only use the stock slot.
B4 seems a bit more than stable than B5 for some reason. I get some signal issues with B5, and the fingerprint scanner sometimes fails. (It works when I first install B4, use it for a while, and then upgrade to B5. But if I do a /data wipe on B5, these issues appear. I have no idea why).

OK. Installed in stock slot but ROM behaved much differently.
1. Wifi sms/mms work both send/receive but erratically.
2. Outgoing calls connect then immediately drop with local "cancelled" within a few milli-secs with a partial ring at the far end.
3. Can't receive calls at all. TMO network thinks I'm offline even though can receive a text.
3. Phone App GUI stutters when making a call.
4. Camera is basically not usable.
Where there any special steps you took to get this working installed in the stock slot? Has your install remained stable? Thanks in advance.

My phone is still working flawlessly. What your are describing is what happened to me during the short period I reverted to the NG3 kernel in order to use Towelroot. Did you make sure to reflash the OA1 kernel once you were rooted? (before installing safestrap and, within safestrap, installing the Alliance Rom). I have found Alliance B4 to be more stable, so you could try that. Finally, a factory reset (wipe option in safestrap). Beyond that, you could try the whole thing again: flash the "downgrade to NCE" rom, which will remove safestrap and clean everything up; and take the tutorial from there.

Thanks again Guillaume,
Was running OA1 prior to Alliance B3, so just wiped Dalvik and Cache again, rebooted and left phone for the night. By next morning all was well except for the camera HDR issue. Once toggled it is OK until closed and reopened. Haven't had the time to look into whether there are Alliance B4 options which may affect this.
Have run it a few days and have had zero issues with Wi-Fi calling or tethering or apps: a very smooth experience.
Thanks again for your contribution. Also muniz_ri will find a bottle of wine on the doorstep soon. :highfive:

Where to get update received via OTA?

I'm currently updated using "LMY47Z" release, which I believe is the latest one, however I received another update via OTA a couple days ago, it says:
"This software update will upgrade your Nexus 6 to improve stability, increase security, and fix bugs. Downloading updates over a mobile network or while roaming may cause additional charges.
Size: 24.6MB"
Thing is, I cannot update it because I'm rooted, so I'm trying to find the file to do it manually, but at least in the google site the latest version that I identify is the one that I'm using; do you have any clue about what this update refers to? Is it "LMY48I" maybe? Thanks!
all nexus factory images are here https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images?csw=1#yakju
you cant update with an ota, even manually, unless you are completely stock without any changed files. you need a factory image to flash via fastboot.

Just curious so forgive me, I just got my G4 the other day and I've been doing a ton of research as expected when it comes to ROMs, root, and unlocking. Let me ask you this if I can:
Since I have the LS991, knowing it's technically domestically locked to Sprint in the US, and you say your ROM is a global version, does that mean if I decide to upgrade to your ROM (of course pushing ZVB first then your ROM with the instructions you've provided) will that remove the unlock I currently have in place with the International ROM, or will I be completely stuck and dead in the water again locked up tight with no way to roll back to anything pre-ZVB and no root potential either? I can live without root, honestly the only thing I require it for is Xposed and a single module so I can control music playback with the volume buttons (can't find any other way to do it) but I can't even get Xposed installed properly on ZV6 right now either even with FlashFire.
Long complicated BS I know, sorry, the basic question: if I were to flash the ZVB TOT then flash your MellowMallow ZVB, will it unlock this LS991 I have, or... should I just stick with ZV6 and be done with it?
I believe you have an LS991 yourself but, you're obviously using Sprint so it's a non-issue whereas I want to use T-Mobile so, my primary concern is being able to be unlocked, that's a must-have thing whereas root is a no-go on Marshmallow right now anyway.

Yes, you should be able to do as you'd like. The global version unlocks the phone for GSM use. You can add and edit any apns you like. There are several people who have been using the Global version successfully. I'm not sure about using it on T-mobile, and I can't make any guarantees, but I would assume you could use it just as any other GSM carrier. I also have a ZVA version you can try. (this is marshmallow and will not prevent rollback) ZVA Version
Yah, but ZVA has no root so, no Xposed, so no button controls, etc.
Anyway, I know about the International ROM and had it working and yes T-Mobile kicks in almost immediately without any issues, but from what I read about that ROM is that the person that made it obviously customized it somewhat and I saw at least one person say the reason it unlocks GSM capability is because of some build.prop edits and I'm trying to figure out what those edits happen to be. I'd love to be able to take a pure stock ZV6 and then root it, modify it so it works like the International ROM and go from there.
The problem I'm having currently is that I can't get Xposed flashed on the International ROM for some strange reason I can't quite figure out - each time I try to flash it there's a mismatch between the architecture/platform and it craps out. That doesn't happen with the rooted ZV6, but it's happening with the International ZV6 which irks me to no end and I can't find out what's causing the issue or else I'd just stick with the International one.
If the only difference between the pure stock ZV6 build and the International version of the same build is a a build.prop edit I'm going to have to figure out what the hell that is.
I just want to end up with ZV6, rooted, Xposed installed and working, and T-Mobile access which I should be able to accomplish - the problem is finding the right combination of this, that, and whatever else to make it all come together. So far, after like 15 wipes and flashes, I still haven't figured out that perfect mix to get what I want just yet.
But thanks for responding.

Ahh, I understand! Yeah, what you need to do is replace all instances of "p1_spr_us" in builld prop with "p1_global_com". (no quotes) Also, replace all instances of SPR with GLOBAL and change target country to COM. Then add the apns. https://github.com/tabp0le/MellowMa...40e511396bc298e37fb5/system/etc/apns-conf.xml
Here is an example for you to go off of.. https://github.com/tabp0le/MellowMallowROM-for-G4-LS991/compare/global
Holy cow, a treasure trove of info, just what I'd been looking for.
So, theoretically if I make those adjustments to the build.prop, that theoretically should make the pure stock ZV6 (from the TOT since there's no KDZ, bleh) be basically the International ROM or at least function like it, I presume?
One thing that I'm kinda frustrated above was when I got this device a few days ago the previous owner had done most if not all of this already and had UltraPOP ZVA on it, and working with T-Mobile. Of course in my haste to redo everything on my own I neglected to make a solid backup of the carrier folder (it still works with the one the unlocking thread provided so I'm not dead in the water in that respect). I looked around for a "pure" LS991 carrier folder but I suppose there just isn't such a thing and yes I know they do contain some device and user specific information (account related with Sprint) so I suppose it's not a huge concern.
Last question if I can: I'm not all that familiar with attempting to edit TOT files (assuming that can be done) so, is it possible or do you believe that altering the necessary build.prop variables on the pure stock ZV6 would cause that to work the same after a reboot? Guess I'll give that a go here in a few and see what happens. Also, when you say add the apns do you mean to build.prop or put the xml file in system/etc where it should be?
Almost there, almost... thanks for the info, definitely.

Regarding the apns: Replace the apns_conf.xml in system/etc.
Regarding TOT: you can't edit the tot
What you need to do to get exactly what you want: Root ZV6. Then make the changes and reboot. Or harder way, is to edit the rootedsystemzv6.img. Mount it on your pc and edit the files. Then flash it like you would to get root in download mode with send_command.exe. You can add me on skype tabp0le
Didn't realize I could edit the .img files but then again .img being what they should be that makes sense I suppose. That's probably the best solution for me personally, edit the rootedsystemzv6.img so it's done just once and it makes things easier or at least it should if I have to redo things.
Now to find something that will not only open the img but allow me to edit/save it when done.

Sensors not working

Okay so this problem started yesterday. My phone was working properly before yesterday but i don't know what went wrong.
None of the sensors (proximity, ambient light, gyroscope, acceleration, etc) are not working properly at the moment since yesterday approximately at 6 pm (Its 10 47 pm right now) some of the sensors (proximity and ambient light if my memory serves me right) started working and after an hour they were back dead. now i did try to root my phone using sunshine it failed to gain temp root so it didn't proceed further. could it be because some of the temp'root files are still present in the phone? as no sensors are working my the chop chop for flashlight and twist for camera gestures don't work and wave or reach for glance display also doesnt work. sometimes the screen doesn't turn on (when it doesn't turn on after about 5 minutes of trying i force reboot the phone and the screen turns on and works fine but the problem remains) this probably happens when i turn off the phones screen it doesn't always happen but once in a while it does. My phone is not rooted and neither is its bootloader unlocked android security patch level is "January 1, 2017" and the build number is "MCG24.251 -5-5" and my phone is running android marshmallow 6.0.1.
PS. I'm new to XDA so sorry if I'm breaking any rules please correct me if i do break any and I'm sorry for my bad English as it isn't my native language. any help is greatly appreciated.
Use ADB or RSDLite and reflash your stock Verizon Motorola Marshmallow firmware. See if that restores your sensors.
Many downloads available for full stock firmware, but here's a link to one:
[FXZ] Official Stock Firmware 6.0.1 MCG24.251-5-5
https://forum.xda-developers.com/dr...-official-stock-firmware-6-0-1-mcg24-t3569334
Since your bootloader is not unlocked, it's important you only flash your current firmware or newer. This is what you have, and right now there is no newer.

Can you also please tell me on how am I supposed to flash the zip file?
ADB sideload? fastboot? I have the mini adb package installed in my pc.
Oh and my phone is network unlocked (runs all network sims) so will flashing this make it locked back to verizon? If so is there a way to make a backup?

Your phone was never "locked" to Verizon. All Verizon postpaid LTE phones are carrier unlocked since 2012, due to forced agreement with government FCC agency. Verizon had to agree to stop doing that, in return for more LTE spectrum.
Thus, all Verizon LTE postpaid/contract phones released since that agreement in 2012 (5 years ago) are network unlocked phones. The Droid Turbo was in that category.

Actually I never tried that. My phone fell from my hand and voila it got fixed I believe it's a hardware issue because whenever they stop working I give it a hard jerk and that seems to do the job
I have same issue with my droid turbo

Back to Stock Roms

So here we have stock files pulled from the Motorola Firmware Team on AFH Just mirrored for your convenience
I cant include the firmware for Verizon & Att due to the fact there bootloaders are NOT unlocked. Therefore if somebody reads this and corrects me, they cant flash it.
I have the stock files and Flash Alls made by me and @Uzephi
Sprint Flash Alls made @Uzephi

To use the flash all for Sprint and T-Mobile you simply unzip the file and put your phone into fastboot mode and hit flashall.bat and that's it. I have already included the fastboot file in the zip.

Question, is there a way to make the bootloader not say you've unlocked and flashed different software?
Also, can I just flash the stock boot?
anyone got stock boot img for t-mobile? if so can you send me a link please
Does anyone know if I can run the fasboot command to lock the bootloader after I've flashed this? I need to take mine back in for an exchange.

It half-worked for me. During boot-up, it doesn't give me the "unlocked bootloader" warning, but it *does* give me a "The OS installed is different" message. Looks similar, but the text is yellow instead of orange.

I'm trying to get rid of the "your device has loaded a difference operating system". Did you find the way to get the phone back to 100% stock?
First off, wanna give a HUGE THANKS to joemossjr for releasing this package AND for that .bat installer! Long story short, I was about to either claim warranty or Jump! (T-Mobile insurance/upgrade program) due to me trying to hook a USB Thumbdrive in over USB OTG (Kingston 16GB) and then there were slowdowns and app crashes, everywhere... heck it was to the point where I kept getting spammed with android.process.acore keeps crashing messages! Couldn't use many internet apps, no phone calls, and could barely text just to name a few.
I do got a suggestion though: is it possible to have a modified version of the June ROM package on Sprint & T-Mobile to where instead of having the stock boot.img, you can have the modified version with the Magisk root access? That would be great and somewhat of a convenience (YMMV; I used this patched boot.img on the 26.2 version and both system updates & t-mobile visual voicemail setup kept falling flat on its face everytime)
Thanks again, YOU ARE THE MAN!!!
