I have been getting pretty bad battery life recently, and now it's gotten to the point where I could leave the phone plugged in all day, come back and it will only last about 20 minutes.
So I went to AT&T and picked up a new battery, and I popped it in and left it plugged in overnight. When I checked on it last night it was up to 35% charging, now this morning, after being plugged in all day it's at 6%!
If I unplug the phone, it gives me the battery critically low warning immediately and then soft resets.
I am not sure what to do here. I read some stuff on here about doing a hard reset and then charging, or another one said let it charge while in bootloader mode, I really dont know how to go about this. I dont want to have to send the phone in for service because then I have to revert everything back to how AT&T had it first.
Any ideas on this would be appreciated. Thanks!
EDIT: Awesome, and since the battery level is under 50% it will not let me do the ROM update back to the AT&T stock ROM.
Check the usb port. It is rather easy to bend one of the gold connectors and the battery won't charge. You could still get a connection with your PC with the usb and not get a charge if you bent the right one.
You can flash VIA the SD card if you Charge is too low.
But I wouldn't recommend trying with less than 40% battery with your draining problem.
If the battery goes out during the flashing problem, you would have a pretty nice Paperweight.

You know what I had it plugged into the computer for a while with the new battery and I think it took the charge okay.
Also, I just gently used the stylus to poke around at the usb connector on the phone (as I have done as many others have in the past, and tried to do a soft reset in the dark and wound up putting the stylus in the USB port instead of the reset hole, but up until now I never had any issues). It seems to be charging again after doing that. I'll have to keep an eye on it and really baby that USB port, lol.
I do have a spare charger from my old HTC Wizard, I'll try using that one again if I have any more issues. I wound up reverting to the official ATT rom now as well just in case I need to get it serviced, and it really makes me appreciate the hard work people put into these custom ROMS because the stock one sucks, lol.

This is what happened to my Xperia. it was 29% before I went to bed. When I woke up the next day, it was completely dead. No lights, no anything. I've tried charging it for 24 hours, I've tried charging the battery through an external charger, I've waited 2 days to power it on again. I've also tried that hard reset trick on one thread here. No go. I'm frustrated. Does anyone know any way this could be fixed and why did this happen?

Is it possible for the battery to just die like that without any warning? My battery was okay before this problem. I've tried it with an external charger and it charges.
It could be the charging circuit itself.
I recall a similar thing happening to me on another HTC phone, sorry I can't recall the details (but it was beyond my skills to repair it, and it was an old phone by then). A friendly technical centre could help you with that diagnosis.
At least you can get a desktop charger that will charge the battery up without it having to be inside the phone , if that is the case.

I've tried charging without the phone. External charger or desktop charger. Doesn't work either.
Sounds weird, but did you try to hold down the power button for a few seconds to let x1 on? Sometimes I have that too when the battery goes empty and the phone goes off. It doesnt open immediately when I press the button, but have to hold down the power button for a few seconds and than release. Try that for about 5 times. If noting happens, than its not the same problem that I have.

Hi guys,
I'm having exactly the same issue as "Jaennil". My battery was at 67% when I went to bed but today morning its dead. I dont know how it happend. Usually I get around 2-3 days of battery backup(on standby). Now my xperia is not switching on. Can anyone suggest some solution for our problem...I am now charging the battery using wall charger,but i dont see any battery charging notifications.

Hello, I first wish to say that I did a basic search and didnt find any info. maybe I searched wrong since this is first time this has happend to a phone I know of.
second I don't have time to do a full extensive search, sorry if it looks like I didnt search but I did.
Anyways here to the problem:
What happend? Well the Note just died. from simple usage. the screen is all black, won't boot at all, can't even see any lights. (Got Desire HD, Tho I don't remember this phone had a charging/signal light, but I believe it has)
The Note is my mothers so she wanted me to look at it.
There were no problems during flash or, rather it wasnt me who flashed it. but got it pre-flashed of tradera (part of ebay) and nothing was wrong besides old rom, was waiting for full drivers ICS since I havn't seen one for the N7000 so I havn't flashed a ICS rom since my mother needs the most support but anyway
I tried taking the battery of and putting it back again (Fixes 90% of my problems!), I tried fail-safe booting it. I am kinda stumped on what to do, so if know whats the problem and if its a cheap one I will be happy to do it. hopefully its not a motherboard replacement... :-( then I will cry...

It turns out it started working with 25% battery after being having battery taken out for 1 hour, and was in the wall socketed charger for 7 hours. YAY!
So it just died in middle of using it normally?
You didn't do any wipes or such in recovery and then it didn't start after that?

I am not sure there is enough detail here to be able to help. But if it does not go to download mode with the usual ways or with a USB jig, then it will need to go to samsung repair centre, or you could try to JTAG first.
But if it is a result of a bad bootloader flash, then JTAG might work. If its due to a bad ICS kernel flash, then motherboard replacement is most likely.

First of All, it doesn't have ICS yet. (since i havnt found a good kies ICS yet that everything works on yet, havnt checked the past few weeks)
Second, it died in standby mode, during work when she was gonna take a picture for her work (she has card that allows usage of camera during work place in volvo)
Third, it wasnt during flash or anything. I will have to check the phone with shidapu when he wakes up... ARGH HIM! for not having normal mornings where you wake up around 6 or 7am...
I believe it didn't die during middle of usage but when the phone was in power save or whatever its called when the screen is black and not phone in use but in operations
I guess JTAG is the only option, but how does that work exactly, if possible please do link
because my computer can't even see the note when I am connected to it with USB. can the battery died? since I don't know if the note can be powered up without battery. *tried connecting without battery but no luck :/
Try to remove the battery for a couple of minutes and then insert it again and connect the wall socket charger and wait up to one hour. The Note has a charging animation but if the battery is totally drained i think it won't show directly.
If you having troubles finding another battery to test with you can always come by Astra in Mölndal and try mine as i see that you are living in Gothenburg.
Jtag is a service in that someone solders small cables to the mainboard and reflashes the bootloader on a low level. But this is only if you know that you have failed a flash or such, don't think this is the case here.
I did send a SGS2 to mobiletechvideos in Texas for that service, and i really do recommend them and thier great service.

if shidapu can't fix it that is (irl mate of Shidapu) he know a bit more than me about Droids
sadly don't have have a extra battery I believe, but I do what you said, I will pull the battery off for now, and when I see the phone next time I will put it in and wait a hour. if all above fail, I might P.M. you that i might be visiting you =)
edit, connected to a wall socket, does it make any differs if I use my HTC wall socket charger?

well u can use any charger since u need to give charge to the battery.. but recommended is charger for note.
Next i had a problem with my battery as well. try to put the phone on charging (there ain't any charging light on this phone ) but you'll see an animation of battery. if it shows up don't worry your phones safe but not the battery but if it doesn't then i think there's some problem with the bootloader or the kernal ...
Hiya guys, after having the Note on charger for like who knows 7 hours or so...
I actually could boot it! YAY! got into the droid as usual.
But there is one wrong thing... it says 25% battery left. orange...
now it says 26% =)
Well I guess I have to reset the state of the battery? (battery-memory wipe or whatever its called?) if thats possible, if so is just simple CWM? (does Note even use CWM?, I am a HTC user and it wasnt me who rooted that device as I mentioned earlier so I dunno what recovery software there is for samsung)

maybe u should take the battery off the phone for a while and try to charge it without booting the device . maybe then it will work fine. just do it three or four times whenever you charge your battery. this way the battery will charge efficiently without it's use on the phone... i hope you got it since i am not able to type well today as i am right now a lil bit anxious about my notes problem

I believe i mentioned it started working. Charging it after removed battery for a hour or so fixed it. took a long time tho, 7 hours for 25% full battery. (26% short after, well samsung are known for their extreme long battery load times... galaxy tab 10.1... that was a device that took over 2 hours to charge...)
It might need a new battery.
The same thing happened to my Note yesterday. It was last charged on Saturday and, with light use, after three days it still had around 50% battery charge remaining when I went to bed on Tuesday night. Yesterday (Wednesday) morning I tried to wake the Note and it was completely dead. Of course I did not expect a flat battery, given the usual discharge performance of my Note. I removed and replaced the battery and hit various buttons and absolutely zip. I connected the charger and again no response. Nothing lit, no beep, nothing.
It's probably worth mentioning that I'm on the latest stock Samsung ROM and unrooted. I really thought it was FUBAR and would need to be sent off for repair. Anyway, I do have a jig so I plugged that in and the screen woke up, so I knew there was some sign of life. But still it would not boot.
Anyway, to cut the story short the battery was as dead as a dodo. I don't know why. It should not have been. I left it on charge from the AC charger and after a short while (a minute or two maybe) the charging symbol appeared with a hazard triangle upon it. It took over 4 hours to finally make it to a fully swollen 100%. The phone is almost exactly six months old and this is the first real scare I've had with it.
I only bore you with the tale because it might give hope to people who think their phone is bricked when the fact is that nothing worse has happened than the battery has gone (unexpectedly) very flat. Right now, 27 hours after I finished fully charging it the battery is down to 92%. That's the sort of performance I am used to. I will leave it without further charge for another few days to see if a similar thing happens again. Hopefully not.
yes i know u said that it started working. What i am saying is that whenever u want ur phone to charge switch it off and then charge(this way it will charge efficiently) . just follow it 3-4 time when u charge it and your battery will be on the right track(i hope that works). my note takes upto 1.3 hour (nearly) to charge completely from 10%. and when it's switched off it does the same in 45 minutes... what a difference!!!
try it and if it works for u then this way would be a best alternative to replace battery for charging issue (of course if ur device is still under warranty you should opt for a replacement).

My Nexus 6 GPE has been powering off after about 2 hours or so being disconnected from the charger every morning. The phone has 70% of power (going off of this last time it has happened, usually it is around 50/60%) and it goes into battery saver mode and says it is powering down. When I try and restart. sometimes it goes and instantly shuts down, other times it shows the battery is completely dead (ie the empty phone icon), with this last time I was able to get into recovery and stay on and the bootloader and in recovery it says I have 60% battery left.
This all started when I flashed the latest software (LMY47E) and the latest bootloader/radios. I used Nexus Toolkit to Factory Restore it and it is still doing the same thing, sometimes it doesn't even give warning before shutting off. Has anyone come across this before? Do you think it is software or hardware related?

I did try that, it seemed to work but then turned off again. I did it about 3 more times, so far it hasn't shut off again, it was around 52% when I did it last and it came back up as 27% so I am hopeful that worked.
Has anyone else experienced issues because Qi charging? I have almost exclusively always charged this with a Qi Wireless Charger.
I have been having the same issue. Just did the "fix" from the other thread and before reboot it read 98%, after boot it says 77%. Crossing fingers.
UPDATE:

That sucks. It seemed to work for me. Phone drained to 5% and automatically shut down. Charged it to full without booting, so if it still behaves, it fixed me.

The "fix" i posted plus no more charging with Qi chargers worked for me.
I tried that, didn't use Qi charging to get it back to 100% and it still shut off. Can you use Qi charging again? I didn't spend $700 on my Nexus 6 so I couldn't use all of the features. I own 4 Qi chargers so that I didn't have to plug in my phone at all unless I was doing something through ADB.

No more Qi charging since I tried the mentioned workaround and no more problems with my N6 shutting down too early.
But I agree: not a solution if you use Qi stations a lot.
I think I'll just warranty it and if there comes a time where this starts happening again, hopefully there'll be a fix from google for it or something. Thank you for your help.

my phone was doing the same exact thing...first started off shutdown at 20 then 40 now 70! phoned motorola for a replacement : "sorry we cannot send replacements but we can fix it"...WTF?!?! a phone like this?! why the F would i want a repared faulty phone?!? Motorola never again never...

I have the same problem. Nexus 6 shuts down. Displays blank white battery. Cannot be turned on without plugging into power source. Upon powering up it shows plenty of power.
Possible helpful info:
1. Recently manually updated to 5.1
2. Recently started using Qi charging
I did not notice a problem until both of those -- of the two my suspicion is the wireless charging but it's a total guess
I've tried all the suggested fixes and none worked.
Ok, so I have had no issues at all since buying this phone at launch, and this randomly happened yesterday.
I was on my phone and checked the battery info as I do a few times a day, just to see what's using my battery the most, SoT, etc. I was at 87%, which was about right as it has been off the charger a few hours with some light use. A few hours later I noticed my actual battery icon was exactly the same, no drainage at all. I viewed my battery info, and the line was flat for a few hours and still said 87%, which is very inaccurate as I've been using it during those few hours. If I had to guess, I was realistically around 60-70%. Then, while looking at my battery info, it said 'battery critically low' and shut off. I plugged in the charger and the animation when the phone is off said 0%. I left it plugged in for like an hour, and turned it on and it still said 0%. I unplugged the charger and it immediately died. I was on pop rocks ROM when this happened. I then plugged it back in, because the phone would function as normal as long as the charger was plugged in. I booted into recovery and restored an old stock backup, even after that I'm having the same issue. I downloaded a stock ROM from here, wiped everything like normal, same issue. Here's the frustrating part -- I chalked it up to this battery being bad. But I have two batteries, and the other one I hardly ever use, but I've used it before and it was fine and normal. I put that battery in, I'm having the same stupid issue! I don't understand, no matter what ROM or batter I use, this is happening. This is so frustrating, I don't know what to do or why this is happening. The phone will not charge at all. Please, anyone I would greatly appreciate help. I searched for issues like this on Google and here but it's usually chalked up to a bad battery, but I know that's not the case here. I couldn't find the option in TWRP, so I downloaded 'battery calibrator' app and wiped my battery stats, still didn't help. Below is a link to picture of what it looks like when I charge it, it just stays like this. I've done it with fast charging on, off, and with the phone completely off, same result.

Edit- One thing that was weird that also happened, was after I restored stock and then rebooted, I unplugged the charger and during the whole 'android is upgrading' thing where it shows the number of apps and such, the charger was unplugged and the phone stayed on for that entire duration. Then once it finished the upgrading thing, it immediately died. That is incredibly strange. Also someone mentioned maybe it's the charger plug in area not working properly, but that doesn't explain a battery going from ~70% to 0 instantly, and the phone not recognizing a charged battery and showing 0% even unplugged.
Also, in addition to everything above, even though I'm certain it's not a battery issue, I bought another official Samsung battery just because I really don't want an 800 dollar paper weight, and I know the battery was somewhat charged when I got it, and I put it in and have the exact same issue. I also just flashed stock firmware via Odin, same issue. I was able to do all of that with my USB plugged in -- but as soon as I unplugged it the phone turned off. This is so frustrating, I can't explain how much I would appreciate help, and maybe even send some money via Paypal for an answer to a fix.
Does anyone have any idea? Please, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have heard maybe it's the charging port on another site, but that would only explain it not charging, not the sudden and instant drainage of two batteries that were both over 60%. I would really appreciate any suggestions.
It could just be something wrong with the phone itself. Bring it to a tmobile store.
