Note 9 Camera Clicking Noise - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Questions & Answers

Hello everyone
Just got the Note 9. I noticed my camera makes a clicking noise when I open the camera app or toggle between the options within the app. I can physically see some sort of shutter on the lens move. Is this normal?
Here's an example from S9 video but I'm experiencing the exact same issue (remove space between : and /)

It's the variable aperture opening and closing.

[Q] Anyone Else Having Camera Problems?

The camera on my Note 3 takes absolutely horrible pictures. When I take a picture, the camera focuses, shows the green square, then captures the picture, but it still turns out blurry. Smart stabilization doesn't fix it. It doesn't seem to have any benefit unless I'm shooting in low light conditions. Anyone else having this problem? The camera on my ancient Droid X and Galaxy Nexus were better than this piece of crap...
My camera settings are:
Photo size: 4128x2322 (4128x3096 mode just makes the field of view smaller and doesn't improve the quality)
Burst shot: on
Tap to take pics: off
Face detection: off
Metering modes: center weighted
ISO: auto
Smart stabilization: off
Video size: 1920x1080
Video stabilization: on
Audio zoom: off
Location tag: off
Review pics/video: off
Volume key: zoom
Timer: off
White balance: auto
Exposure value: 0
Voice control: off
Contextual filename: off
Storage: memory card
Shutter sound: off

Sorry your having trouble with taking nice pictures. I have absolutely NO problems what so ever, in any mode. Today I took bunches of pictures in different modes, with different settings of my lil cousins finding eggs. I don't think I've ever gotten so many comments on picture quality before.
Some things you can try:
-Open application settings and clear the camera app data and cache. This will reset all the settings to their default.
-Try a different memory card. Or try using internal storage. If you have a low quality memory card it might pose a problem. I have a 64gb samsung evo card with no problems what so ever.
-Last resort is to perform a factory data reset. It will reset your entire phone to default. Yes it's a pain to re-setup your phone again how you like it. But may fix your issues.
Hopefully one of those theories will get you taking beautiful pictures again.
I wiped the camera, camera test, and gallery data. After restoring my settings it seems to be on par with my Galaxy Nexus now. Thanks for the help!
Is it just me, or does anyone else think the name "smart stabilization" is misleading? It doesn't seem to do squat for image stabilization.

videos pulsing problem

Just got my mi A2 - love it. but noticing big issues with regular video recording - I am seeing this pulse or pop often once per second - a pulsing on all my videos - not sure if it is the auto focus or what. It is a regular endless pulsing on all videos where slow closeups show it the best. Looks like a defect and I would return. Or suggestions of how to fix?
See videos of what it looks like:

is there a setting that can help here - or is it a defect. ( bad autofocus)
anyone seen this problem - should I return it?

Looks like a problem with either the cameras or the software. I'd probably RMA it.
I have the same Problem.
I have the same problem. It's an issue with the autofocus. It's searching for something to focus on and it does that. It can probably be fixed with a software update.
Does everyone have this problem - or just a bunch of us? Is there a way to force the autofocus to turn off for certain shots? This is a deal breaker for me as I do allot of closeup work with nature.

I'm hoping the October update fixes it.
Can anyone using a camera mod - like gcam, let us know if there same autofocus pulsing happens on those apps?
-steve
In bright daylight i dont have this pulsing Problem.
But in Darkness with synthetic Lights on it happens.
gcam, same Problem. You need an Videoapp with "Autofocus Lock"
Same issue here with low light indoor shoots.
did the new update fix this issue ( raining here - hard to test) - or does anyone know of a autofocus lock app or technique to get around it.

I use the "open camera" app, which is free and lets you block the focus.
I have the latest October patch (2nd) and encountering the pulse problem using the native cam app. Using the Open Camera app I am not seeing the pulse issue.

how do you block focus on open camera - do not see option. am i missing it.
yes - open camera app - does work. in that it has a focus lock. How do we let Xiaomi know about this problem it it can be fixed (is there a offical way)?
open camera app
I did find how to do it: (https://opencamera.sourceforge.io/help.html)
Focus - Controls the focusing method used. Available options depend on your device. These may include:
Continuous focus iconContinuous (default) - The camera focuses continuously. This is generally the best mode - the preview will usually always be in focus, and taking photos is quick when the preview is already in focus. Note that you can still manually focus by touching the screen.
Auto focus iconAuto - The camera focuses when you take a photo, or when you touch to focus.
Infinity focus iconInfinity - The camera focus will be fixed for objects far away.
Macro focus iconMacro - This behaves similarly to auto focus, but is optimised for close-up objects.
Locked focus iconLocked - The camera does not focus, unless you manually touch to focus.
Manual focus iconManual - A slider appears allowing you to manually control the focus distance (only available if Camera2 API is used).
Fixed focus iconFixed - The focus remains fixed.
Fixed focus iconEDOF - Extended depth of field (EDOF). Focusing is done digitally and continuously.
Is there anyone who can confirm that issue has solved with android pie, or not.
Isue with video pulsing isn't solved with pie update. I have also made wipe data/factory reset after pie update but problem stil exist.
You can lock focus on stock camera app by holding on any spot of the screen

Living with the faulty buzzing camera module of note 9

Since my note 9 camera is buzzing/vibrating on 2 x zoom on the stock camera app,can anyone suggest another camera app which will produce crisp pictures and videos. The app should use full potential of the note 9 camera module, except for the the buzzy camera.
Thanks in advance.
Any camera app other than the stock camera will produce clearer pictures while zoomed in, simply because the telephoto camera (which is the culprit) is only available in the stock camera app. Digital zoom and the main lens is used instead; The best and in the end the most convenient solution is to simply replace the camera module.

Front camera, group photo, out of focus issue.

Hey everyone!
So for the longest of time, I already have this problem when I am using the front camera to take a group photo, and the camera always focus on the person closest (holding) the camera. Even with the face detection option ON, it won't capture the rest of my friends. Even if I manually tap on the center of the screen (to focus behind).
Do you guys face this issue too?
Any solutions?
I tried Open Camera app but it doesn't have the wide angle feature (like the default S10 camera) have for front camera. (Unless I am not seeing the option).
Thanks!
Bump Hoping for reply still.
