I also want to know

twrp failed to flash it:
Updater process ended with signal: 11
if boot to system it will keep rebooting.

well i found a thread: https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads...ashing-rom-eu-multi-with-twrp-error-11.46845/
It seems that there is a typo in update-script.sh
format("ext4", "EMMC", "/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/cust", "0", "/cust");
instead of
format("ext4", "EMMC", "/dev/block/platform/bootdevice/by-name/cust", "0", "/cust");

i fixed the typo and it becomes flashable, but still keeps rebooting.
after trying a couple of roms for several days it seems currently there's no unofficial rom that can be daily used, which makes me frustrated...

Try MiuiPro. From 4pda.

Xiaomi Developer ROMs are delivered through flashable zips and through fastboot images, maybe look into the second option. Be aware that Xiaomi ROMs might replace the Recovery upon boot, if that isn't included in the fastboot image already, which I think is likely, and take a look into potential partitioning hazards.
Edit: To be extra helpful, here's the thread http://en.miui.com/thread-149081-1-1.html
I failed while flashing miui 7 stable on cwm r11, btw miui 6 worked for me everytime even on extended partition.
So I'd say no
hope this helped you

really cuz twrp failed me everytime
which version of twrp are you using
Yes really, twrp is version 2.8.5.0 . To repartition i used cwm recovery, then i changed to twrp.
When i tried to flash miui v6 with twrp i failed, then i changed to cwm recovery, and then i flashed. Try like this if twrp makes failed flashing.

what about miui 7 did you flash it with cwm too
I also faced same issue, I found workaround for it from MIUI forums.
1) Go to recovery and wipe all (except internal storage)
2) Flash MIUI rom
3) You will get error, now just go to reboot and select recovery
4) flash rom again (without wiping) and it should work
Using latest TWRP

did you try the above steps on TWRP?
and does it work on extended partition
Yes twrp-2.8.7.0
I am on stock partition now. I think it should work with extended partition as it worked for me in the past when I tried MIUI 6. Its only the update which you will need to flash using recovery. Give it a try.
Yes i flashed with twrp recovery, it was working. First i flashed stable miui v7, then i reflashed with stable rooted version of miui v7 stable. so 2 times flashed v7 with twrp on extended partitions. I have mi4. but it should work as it is cancro

Wouldn't flashing the fastboot image file through MI suite work? I am also on cm12.1 but would like to switch back to miui 7 developer versions. I thought a simple fastboot image flash should work

Agree.
Are you rooted/BL unlocked?
If so I guess upgrade can't be either flashed nor OTAed...
We'll have to wait for someone to get the full rom.

Just downloaded. It is a flashable zip-file. Looks weird for an official system update, where you should change your recovery from stock to something else to be able to flash official update.
Maybe it is flashable from stock recovery....
Anyone tried it?

Temporarily replaced twrp by entering flashmode and installing stock recovery from a stock rom using fastboot flash recovery recovery.img... thats the only method i know but you need a computer for that...

Let's cut this crap, because I've tried all the ways to install this flashable zip (TWRP, stock 2.3.044 ST recovery, the MIUI V8 TWRP chinese recovery too) with two words, YES we need official QFIL version (which will also be able to flash on your existing unlocked bootloader(and rooted) devices, I'm in that situation with current 2.3.044 ST, once you flash through QFIL, after that just reflash the TWRP because it is wiped out from the original Stock Recovery) or somebody from XDA to change the update script to be supported through TWRP ... or even, if some kind of Nougat small ZIP file is needed for basis before flashing like, before you flash a small basis ZIP file before installing the actual CM14.1 or CM13 or else ... You got my point ...
P.S. Also, why my phone in the morning proposed me the same update by its System Update app and I've even downloaded it, but the only problem which I didn't realized sooner was that before downloading it I should re-flash the stock 2.3.044 ST recovery before downloading and rebooting into in my case TWRP ...
Hi Guys,
Quick Update on how to fix the rom before flashing with TWRP:
Credits are for eryen from zukfans.eu forum. I'm just overviewing the method
1. Full Unroot from SU application installed on your device after you've been rooted. This will bring back your stock bootimage (the recovery remains twrp in my case)
2. In my case I've used WinRar and directly opened \META-INF\com\google\android\updater-script file and edited it with Notepad++ by remove the text in bold:
mount("ext4", "EMMC", "/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/system", "/system", "max_batch_time=0,commit=1,data=ordered,barrier=1,errors=panic,nodelalloc");
getprop("ro.build.fingerprint") == "ZUK/z2_row/z2_row:6.0.1/MMB29M/2.3.044_161013:user/release-keys" ||
getprop("ro.build.fingerprint") == "ZUK/z2_row/z2_row:7.0/NRD90M/2.5.335_170116:user/release-keys" ||
abort("E3001: Package expects build fingerprint of ZUK/z2_row/z2_row:6.0.1/MMB29M/2.3.044_161013:user/release-keys or ZUK/z2_row/z2_row:7.0/NRD90M/2.5.335_170116:user/release-keys; this device has " + getprop("ro.build.fingerprint") + ".");
getprop("ro.product.device") == "z2_row" || abort("E3004: This package is for "z2_row" devices; this is a "" + getprop("ro.product.device") + "".");
ui_print("Source: ZUK/z2_row/z2_row:6.0.1/MMB29M/2.3.044_161013:user/release-keys");
Use twrp to flash.

Sure,
I assume you've used this method:
fastboot -i 0x2b4c boot recovery.img
Instead of the method above, just use the following way to flash the recovery to and it will remain as a default recovery and will not be removed in the future even by custom roms recoveries such as MIUI V8 Chinesse TWRP which actually don't even have English inside it (just horrible nightmare):
fastboot -i 0x2b4c flash recovery recovery-TWRP-3.0.2-20160712-ZUK_Z2_PRO-CN-wzsx150.img
From the beginning from when I received my phone from China and in the same day I've unlocked my bootloader and I've just used this recovery "recovery-TWRP-3.0.2-20160712-ZUK_Z2_PRO-CN-wzsx150.img". You can download it from here:
https://mega.nz/#!x5BmibQD!OrMgZIKYK3XOo1-wxasnVJ1Hdbj-ISfLx-m_DkFCtGQ
Or you can use your own TWRP, just flash it in that way:
fastboot -i 0x2b4c flash recovery recovery-TWRP-3.0.2-20160712-ZUK_Z2_PRO-CN-wzsx150.img
P.S.
WARNING !!! the recovery from above link on the first flash/boot recovery will be in Chinese language too, so please watch the video to see where do you need to click to switch to English:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=05d7QbOK3Qw&feature=youtu.be
Thks bro, it seems the chinese twrp persist, i was using russian twrp. I will try and give feedback.
Edit: Chinese persist , thanks

stuck on "MI"

I'm on twrp and I can't install any aosp rom anymore. format "yes", install fw 0.9.0. start with the flash seems to be all right, reboot system and get stuck on MI and nothing happens, try again with another rom and it is the same. I returned to the initial state with XiaomiFlash, I install twrp, I redo all the procedures and start again as before. any idea about it?
if i install a rom xiaomi.eu with twrp the phone works, if i install a rom always with different twrp inside it does not install anything. It had never happened to me, the problem appeared after I tried xiaomi.eu 12 how do you suggest me to proceed?

I've been using mauronofrio's TWRP on this phone for over a year and never had any problems with it when flashing ROMs. I've recently updated TWRP to the latest 3.4.0-0 and had no problems flashing LOS.
There is one bug that has never been fixed. Sometimes when you boot into TWRP it does not recognise any touch on the screen. Just turn the display off and on again with the power button and it works fine after that.

The TWRP I've pointed you to is the better option. Orange Fox is only good for installing if you plan to stick with MIUI.
There is absolutely no need to flash DM Verify, or a DFE script.
You will not need to flash firmware and vendor files if coming from the latest MIUI 12.

Be careful when flashing new rom
the dynamic partition will be a pain in the ass if you don't carefully install new rom
