G6 tone gets tinny with increased volume, and sibilance at any volume - Moto G6 Questions & Answers

Hi, just bought a Moto G6 at an Ohio Best Buy store. Speaker volume for things such as Youtube videos, etc. generally seems adequate at almost all the way up, say 8 or 9 out of 10. However there is often annoying sibilance in the audio (harsh "s" and "t" sounds) at any volume. The other audio glitch I noticed is when the volume slider is low, tone sounds more balanced, has some bass, but as you raise the volume, the sound will get more and more tinny, with all treble and no bass. Again, generally need to set volume near but not at the top. I tried the Dolby EQ part with movie, voice, music, and different EQ, and the 2 problems still persist. Phone is running Oreo 8.0.0. Thanks.

I know its an itunes eq but mimicking these settings on other devices has worked for me..

Sound distortion when playing mp3s

Hi.
Sometimes sound becomes distorted when i play mp3s. I use the handsfree that came with the phone.
When sound gets distorted....if i lower the volume ...about 2 bars lower sound becomes clear but volume is to low...
When everything is ok, i can set the volume all the way up without any distortion. I play the same song to make the test.
I tried with another motorola handsfree (it plays in mono) and when there is sound distortion, i can hear it with the motorola handsfree too...so i don't think that is a headphones issue.
I'm using deathnoise's rom...i was using another...but i had the same issue.
Can i do something?
Thanks!...
Edit:
Two examples of distorted and clean sound. Recorded from the headphones' output of qtek 2020i to PC.

Speaker quality

I received my O2 Ignito (their version of the Diamond) yesterday and am generally impressed, even with the stock ROM. However, despite hearing that the speaker volume was a little low I wasn't prepared for how bad mine is. I have upgraded from a Moto V3i and the lowest setting on the Moto is louder and clearer that the highest setting on the Ignito. When I listen closely as I adjust the volume using the keys on the side the sound is distorted at all levels and the 80% level is louder than the 100%, which seems to clip.
Are they all this bad or do some lucky ones have well-performing speakers with decent volume and a clean sound?
Well, my speaker is working just perfect. Clear sound, and i usally use it at 40-60%. Otherwise its too loud for me. But thats subjective. I know there are some sound comparison videos on Youtube. Maybe u check them out to see if you have a bad speaker.
IMO, the Diamond's speaker system is its weakest point. It has about the worst audio quality that I have encountered with any phone. My Diamond comes with 1.93 ROM and I have used the Schaps Adv Config tweaks. Sound level is still low and quality remains awful. Maybe I am missing something?
My speaker is low too. It also distorts slightly. I wouldn't say it bothers me though...
my speaker is low too .. actually as low as the Se w880i ... sincerly i cant use the speaker, i miss that from my touch
Same for me - speaker to low. All patches I've applied have not changed anything on the internal-speaker volume.
4 out of 5 replies to say the speaker volume is too low. Not looking good. Are we all deaf or are those that are happy with their speaker not bothering to reply? There are plenty of people that are happy with their Diamond so is that despite the poor speaker volume in most cases?
It seems to me that in developing an all-singing, all-dancing handset HTC have forgotten that it is also a phone and you can't answer the phone if you can't hear it ring
I have to say my ringtone volume is quite loud and mp3 playback is also quite loud, the only problem i have with the sound is the lack of bass and a little bit of distortion on the highest volume setting.
Same here - I am happy with the speaker/ringtone volume - distortion on the highest level is a problem.
My complaint would be the loud speaker during a call. It's almost non-existent and not useable - at all.
I also find the loudspeaker a little quite, but after the mod I read here about putting a small bit of clear tape over the speaker and put the back cover back on, it made big improvement to the sound quality and for me was a little louder
Indigo speaker level
I have had my Indigo from o2 for just over a couple of weeks, overall ringtone volume is ok, & volume during a call also exceptable although not as loud as my previous XDA Orbit. When on hands free the volume level is low, when used hands free in car callers are hardly audible, i have tomtom 6 installed and the volume level from the speaker then is fantastic, i can even lower it from the highest level, this suggests to be that there must be a registry tweak that can be applied as the speaker can produce a good volume level with third party software. Does anyone know of an edit to increase the speaker volume level when in hands free mode?
o2 XDA INDIGO
Rom 1.93.206.3WWE 8/7/08
Radio 1.00.25.05
Protocol 52.29.25.12H
Third party sofware ontop of o2 standard fare;
Tomtom6
Advanced config Manager
Total Commander ce
Stopwatch
Ariel battery
1-Calc Lite
Well, _all_ phones will produce distortion at highest level, the companies donĀ“t care. They want it that way... High volume, lowprice speakers.
The ringtone/message alert volumes are fine and quite loud but on the MP3 player its very low, which is a disappointment as I dont want to always have to use headphones to listen to songs.
I do find the speaker poor.
I often don't hear the SMS alert, and it's not easy to listen to a call in a noisy place. My previous XDA Orbit was much better.
Is there a "fix", or do we just live with it?
There is a fix somewhere on here.

You should possibly check to see if your Audio Booster settings is switched on (you will find this in the Programs menu). Please note that your headset will be needed when trying to enable or disable the Equalizer. When disabled the sound is vastly improved.
t-mobile mda compyct IV
quality is just poor. volume is low but ok IMHO
Take a look at this:

I have the U.S. version of Diamond and I find the earpiece speaker to be very good. I've had quite a few phones to compare to. External speaker is a different story though.

Headphone volume?

Hey all. Considering picking a note 3 up. I use my phone as my mp3 player so good headphone volume is important. How is the headphone volume? Is it loud?
I have never needed to adjust phone to max volume to drown out the subway noise, though with some headphones, I do need to increase volume past the point where it nags you about how listening at high volume is dangerous (because, apparently, it's dangerous to listen at 75% volume, even though that's not as loud as 50% on a different set of headphones). If you root, you can kill the warning.
However, this is not a unanimous opinion: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2541902

The huwaei headset is louder but no substance no bass or realism to the sound playing either, it's lacking something? Any advice would be helpfull especially a way without voiding warranty to get every heaphone set working, thanks in advance guys.

Static/hissing noise at low volume

Hello!
I have a problem with my new Xiaomi Mi 8. I would like to confirm if its only my device doing that or other devices too. Its running Android 9 with Miui 10.2.3.0.
When I set the lowest possible volume (not muted) the static noise is louder than the sound coming out of built in speaker or earphones connected via jack. It is pretty noticable even when the sound is set to high and there are e.g. silent parts of song. It does not matter which app I use (youtube, spotify, default music app). When I connect my bluetooth headset everything is okay and the sound is clear.
For testing purposes I am using song Kaleo - Way We Go Down. I find it most noticable there. The song even breaks and stops playing for a few milliseconds in the begining. Can you guys somehow test this issue and reply here with the results? I want to see if I am the only one having this problem.
Btw when I connect my earphones to my 4 years old iphone 6 the sound is crystal clear.
Thank you.
