I use H8266 on my H8296.
So there is a high chance.

you better flash a firmware that matches your H8296... because it has 6GB of ram, and the H8266 has only 4GB... so, when you go to Developers Options and check the available ram.. you will notice there is a 2GB missing....
so you won't benefit all the 6GB of ram available on your phone, and also it might not work properly!
YOU HAVE TO REFLASH YOUR PHONE AGAIN... use any rom that has the "H8296" model name! THAT WOULD BE SAFE....

What?
The phone is running a 64-bit operating system.
It uses all the ram it has build in.
I also can use every LTE frequency in my country, including LTE band 20.
And if you install aosp on it, you will install the same drivers from the Sony home for every XZ2(C) device.

PS: I AM FINE SINCE MONTHS WITH MY DUCKING H8266 FIRMWARE, YOU KING OF SALT. :silly:
quality quak quak quak

I'll just stick with H8276 firmware to avoid any issues.

Flash T710 firmware to T715, to get faster updates?

Bought a Tab S2 8" for the kids through a "eBay" site but I discovered that it was the T715 model and not the T710 which I expected it to be.
So now there isn't any 5.1.1 update and I really need multi-user support.
So I could root it to gain multi-user support..
But since I'm not interested in the LTE-part of this tablet, we won't even have a SIM card for it, could I flash a T710 firmware onto my T715 device with Odin, is that possible?
Ping, has no one tried/done this?
All variants should have multi window support out of the box. You can't flash the t710 on the t716 model. Odin will fail as it's a different model.

Not multi window, multi user. I read that 5.1.1 has it but my t715 with 5.0 lacks support for it.

Yes it's possible. But you will likely have to flash a custom t710 rom as said odin will probably reject it.
I saw this thread on how to enable multi user: http://forum.xda-developers.com/cro...l/guide-enabling-multi-user-lollipop-t3064326
I haven't tried it, but it looks like a much better option than flashing an incompatible rom on your 715.

Yup, I am going with that now instead. F*cking retards @ Samsung that A) Dropped multi user in the first place and B) Still has 5.0.2 as latest for this device.
First and last time I bought a Samsung device. It should have had Marshmallow by now.

LTE , NFC , OTG support

in the russia 5.1.1 rom, it says it HAS them,
1. we have a nfc antenna in the battery.
2.i've seen the processor is msm8228, and it has internal cdma&lte&gsm modems.
3.and seen some OTG things in kernel and system folder.
what we can do?
////i've G800HQ (G800H) variant
(sorry about my bad english )
1-as far as i know its for the wireless charger
you can buy a back cover which supports wireless charging
2-i have no idea :v
3-yes it can handle otg but for some reason samsung disabled it @DJ_Steve is working on a kernel that will re-enable it

nfc willl work if device has antenna,
otg as said im working on,
edit:
lte is not supported on the H model as it uses a MSM8926 cpu (variant of the MSM8228) and this model does not support lte

Probably because they want to save battery power by reducing clocl speed by default.. motog does similar

Cpuz shows 8926
while kernel info with pac performance. ..kernel adiutor. ...ram manager shows 8228
the 8926 is itself a variant of the 8228 but even the 8228 does not support lte anyway

board msm 8228
what is the problem? lte modem is inside the chip not board
the cpu CAN have lte, does not mean it has it. might need a co-processor or something for lte which is not installed. as far as i can tell the kernel is built with lte support either stock or otherwise

DT2W MI4

is a year that I try on the web DT2W for my mi4 but could not find anything good ... tried all the kernels, the channel Mi4 and mi3, but none works well ...
I have the model with 2GB of ram and I think that has a different camera from the model to 3GB of RAM and all the kernel I tried does not work the camera ...
I would only DT2W ... someone can help me?
I currently have the 7.2.11.0 MM xiaomi.eu
thank you so much
....A 2GB variant of Mi4? AFAIK, there are no variant of Mi4 with only 2GB of RAM.
Maybe your device is either Mi4i or Mi4c, and those two are a completely different device than Mi3/Mi4 (Cancro).

Hmm, I've searched around, and indeed there's a Mi4 with only 2GB RAM released by Xiaomi... Seems like there's no difference other than the RAM amount.
To OP, try ZeurionX. It's currently the latest kernel that supports DT2W (which is added back on request). Activate and set up the feature through Kernel Adiutor app.
I tried every version of the kernel ZeurionX but the camera or does not work or is upside down

I'm going to buy the same version you have. I think we should get in touch with the ZeurionX developer. It should be relatively easy to get this fixed. It's a known problem on several devices.
OT: do you confirm that Xiaomi.eu rom works good on 2GB Mi4? Also, could you please check the codename is Cancro? Thanks.

the codename is always cancro, I always used the rom xiaomi.eu and work well ... I currently have the latest stable xiaomi.eu miui stable 7.3.1.0
I'd like to try this kernel, but how would I revert to stock kernel then?

Just dirty re-flash the current ROM you're using through the recovery without wiping anything, although if you use Xposed you also have to flash it too.

Flashing SM-G950F firmware to SM-G950U/1

Is it possible to flash SM-G950F firmware to SM-G950U/1? I know they do have different processors but has anyone tried this?
No it will not work because of kernel difference

No, but you can change the CSC with a mod. But there is no possible way as they have different CPUs.

You cant flash kernel of another device however you can use the system of g950u you just need to modify a little bit to support your device. But I think it will be difficult for you to do that its look like you are new
I'd just like my G950F to have T-mobile bootstrapper so that I can get full network speeds. currently getting very limited speeds and missing some essential options.

[Help] Android Oreo 32 or 64 bit?

I have a query, currently motorola works with 32 bits in android. When android 8 release will still be 32-bit or will they go 64-bit?
Thanks for your clarification :good:

Yes we know. Motorola won't update from 32 bits because it needs file wipes.. and people will get mad if their phone gets wiped for a update they won't notice (for the majority of users)
Still it's 64bit ready. Custom roms are based on 64bit architecture. And i think i read somewhere that official oreo wil lbe 64bit. M1810, how do you know that it won't?
It is 64
I have an old Samsung s4 Mini running resurrection remix Android 8.1. I formatted my SD card to NTFS with a 64bit cluster size. The phone reads it fine.
@Mikeyd125, an oopsie. I do believe you posted in the wrong thread.

Switching architectures requires the device to be wiped so officially it wouldn't make much sense if Motorola doesn't want consumers to have issues
Yea Yea. Heard that already. Why wipe is so scarry to people? They can't make simple backup? ;D

Average Joe would be angry if his phone would be wiped from all data even if he backed up.
Most people doesnt care about OS version as long as it does what it has to do.
Well. At least they should give us a choice 32bit and no wipe oe 64bit and wipe.
Will there be real difference in our case (g5s+ users) in performance between these two versions? I will have a problem with choosing custom rom based on original 32b or 64b(which can't be based on future stock ?) in the future.

And we would have to wait twice as long for developers to make both 32 and 64bit for few people to chose 64 bits. Genius.
