-Reboot to TWRP 3.1.0-0
-Make factory reset (or clean wipe, more recomended)
-Flash B895/B896 Update if not installed already! (if yes, skip this step!)
-Restore your recovery(TWRP) because installing B895/B896 update overwrites it and if you don't make this step you'll be stuck with stock recovery until you'll flash it again.
-Make a factory reset wipe
-Flash ROM and Gapps
-Reboot and enjoy!

Why do you give us a MicroG link? Do we need to install it?

installed with opengapps stock + Magisk 17.1. Rom is fully working (apart from google camera and video recording. workaround is Footej).
BlueTooth ok, GPS ok, tested with Gps test plus and Google Maps. Deep sleep is working (but i normally disable wifi and BT scanning).
On the very first boot, config app crashed and restared automatically, and there was some lag. After about half an hour and another reboot, all ok.

for me GPS is working without problems too.
The only issue is the equalizer that FC when I start Spotify

MicroG is an alternative to Gapps. You don't need to use it if you don't want to.

Thank you for your feedback! I will add some performance improvments in some later builds. Not sure about the config app, i will take a look later.

Nice work!
If you want you can try to use my patched vendor to fix on-call proximity. I think it's a hwcomposer thing, which my vendor has built-in.

How to install microg? I use Google maps and substratum, they will work with microg? I don't know what other apps are Google play's dependant.

For ViperOS you need to install NanoDroid-MicroG package(You need to have no gapps first if you want to use MicroG)
After installed to into MicroG settings and enable google account registration. Then go into self check and press on Signature spoofing. It will ask you to grant signature spoofing to MicroG. Accept that and then login to your google account. If a error like rh01 shows in play store then clear data of play store and try again. If it stills shows that, open up terminal and type su. Then type "nanodroid-perm". Then reboot. It should work after that. Good luck
Google maps and substratum will work with MicroG but i recommend OsmAnd+ for maps.

I did not use a modified kernel.
I'm not sure why it is heating that much but i think i could fix that a bit.
Also i recommend OsmAnd+ for maps.

The Rom zip is still 550+ mb, not one gigabyte.

DO NOT Report bugs if you're running a custom kernel or you installed Xposed
Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
If it is a random reboot, grab /proc/last_kmsg. (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)

Q : Bootloop ?
A : if its been more than 10 minutes and the phone didnt start yet, hold volume down home and power until it reboots, it will start normally the 2nd time around

No volte for any LineageOS based roms and no NFC fix for now...
Hey, first of all thanks for this great ROM!
I found one bug when trying to unlock the phone while using the fingerprint reader. You can hear the phone unlocking but the screen stays black. You need to re lock and unlock by not only touching the fingerprint but really physically pushing it in so it clicks. I hope my explanation is clear to understand.

Ive seen this bug in RR only, i might try and resolve it but not sure, Right now we got some heavy bugs that needs fixing. Widvine DRM isnt working, Hotspot and USB tether isnt working so until those 2 are resolved, i can think of the FP AOD thingy

Thx for the quick response, and I totally understand that. This bug is only a luxury problem so I guess I'll live
I'm using RR as daily driver and I can say it's pretty stable, I've experienced some FCs on Magisk but when rebooting they got solved, also sometimes when I reboot the phone to solve FCs on Magisk the ROM doesn't boot and I have to turn the phone off and boot again, but these problems are not common, so I don't really care about them, just saying... Maybe it's becouse I flashed mods, right now I'm only using V4A and iOS Emojis, both are zip files flashed via Magisk. But as I said this problems are very uncommon so no problem with it.
The other bug is that problem with AOD, but since I don't use AOD I don't really care about it

What is AOKP?AOKP stands for Android Open Kang Project. It is a custom ROM distribution for several high-end Android devices. The name is a play on the word kang and AOSP (Android Open Source Project). The name was sort of a joke, but it just stuck, just like our infatuation with unicorns.
We fork the source code of Android that Google puts out in the open with every major version release, and we then add the magical unicorn bytes (read: we add some of the coolest features that are both useful and make your ROM awesome).
With AOKP, you can generally do a lot more with your device than what you could do with the original firmware that came installed on it.

A.As I don't own a P8 Lite anymore and I can't test it, I can't respond to this question. But the public can!

Q.Will this ROM get official updates?
A.In this moment, no. If OpenKirin or our team can fix some more bugs on the Oreo device tree, maybe I will.

Q.How is battery life?
A.As I said, I don't own the device anymore, so public reviews will tell.

Q.What is logcat?
A.It is a tool what reads the system while running and I can fix problems easier if I see exactly what causes the problem. You will need adb tools installed or linux or adb shell on windows and usb debugging enabled in Settings-Developer Options. If you cannot get a logcat, just tell me the problem. I'll still try to fix it.

I guess that you still need a device to test before to release any custom ROM Android 8.0/8.1, or at least a few testers to check your ROM previously
It's not enough to build without issues the whole source code - because the resulting ROM may refused to boot for different reasons !

I know, but nobody did respond to my request. I'll try to find one a.s.a.p. Many requested to release dot 8.1 but nobody did offer to test it before releasing. I'm not releasing any other ROM without testing fron now.
Anyway, I'm not allowing these 2 ROMs to be unbootable. I might've found a temporary "fix".

Note: The only thing I did to this update is to use OpenKirin's RROS 6 boot.img. This way it boots with no problem. I really hope OpenKirin doesn't mind doing that, but if they do I'll probably remove this update. I could've fixed the boot problem the "hard" way, but since oreo for this device is just in experimental-phase I won't waste more time(and money, since I'm using Google Cloud Platform) on fixing this problem.

Note: The only thing I did to this update is to use OpenKirin's RROS 6 boot.img. This way it boots with no problem. I really hope OpenKirin doesn't mind doing that, but if they do I'll probably remove this update. I can report that it boots without problems but after a while it stops working ever after a reboot
PD: and my sim only works on the second slot
PD2: I started over but with b896 (in the previous attemp I used b895) the SIM was detected on first slot, 4g works,gps works, voice works without distorsion... BUT I restarted the phone to install Magisk and I lost my SIM , I mean, the phone didn't detect it.
Before the reboot I install some apps and it was fast.
I hope you can fix the issue with the sim

Meanwhile i was trying to install the rom, i cannot flash pico gapps because there is not enough space on /system partition, also i noticed that advanced reboot menu does not reboot in recovery mode(tried only reboot->recovery) but it does only a normal reboot.
Edit: UI is very smooth, and phone performance/battery life are great:good:

Sorry for this, you tried install the opengapps pico? not install sucessfully?
Edit: If you were unable to install opengapps pico, try another gapps, microgapps or something, it might work. thanks for the feedback <3

I used an older gapps package...everything worked, now system has only 18mb free hope it is enough.
Anyway, thanks again for you work!:good:
Edit : everything seems to work fine...except audioFX that breaks audio(headphones), so i had to disable it.
Oh and safetyNet is passed, even without magisk installed:good:

friend what gapps did you use? because I can't install any gapps I get error 70 when trying to install gapps
great rom i love it, using since i had my surnia device. i was using 6.1, didnt know it was updated!
also sometimes games FC and iytbp got killed on background
btw cant install most recent gapps tho, i had to use an older version with has 80mb ziped, twrp says it does not have enough space, and i use pico gapps.

I used the 2019-05-13 pico...i just went on opengapps, opened older version section->sourceforge website-> arm-> and picked the oldest one

Same behavoir here too. If you are in TWRP and then select shut off, it stays off.
Great ROM, very smooth.
i have a XT1040, after a week of usage apps started FC until the system stopping after few seconds of boot up and restarting stuck on that loop, i dont know what caused this , the rom wasnt rooted ,moved to lineage to test it, but later i want to download an older version of viper os with nougat or mm.
Thank you, excellent job. I have been using the rom for 8 days and it goes like the first day, like a silk. Waiting for it to be updated to see if the phone's total shutdown is corrected, since it never succeeds unless you turn it off from recovery. otherwise very comfortable with this Rom

about apps and games that can't fullscreen whether there have been improvements, sir ...
Gcam doesn't work on the lastest build, I have tried many many Gcam.
Even with Ver 7. None of it work.

Just to make it clear - there isn't much of a difference between custom rom code, be it CrDroid, Lineage OS, since they share the same code but some distros have additional features and customizations baked in (again, not at low level, like reworked systemflinger for iOS smooth animations or anything like that) so there isn't need to modify anything, if at all, to make it work, when transitioning from one custom rom to another (again, if the Android is actually the same).
Moreover, since our device is Treble compliant, porting custom roms is pretty easy.
As soon as you have fully complete device tree, working kernel, you could compile any distro based on the same version of Android and have 99% of things working without any modification when compared.

Note : after flashing a rom if you stuck on bootanimation then follow this steps :
A. Boot your phone into recovery mode. Go to wipe section turn wipe dalvik +chdches.
B. GO back to home page on recovery. Go to reboot/fastboot (bootloader).
C. Wait 5 sec on fastboot mode then long press on power key to restart your phone. It will fix that stuck bootanimation error.

For text size in phone
Go to settings /display /Advanced /font size.
For chrome browser
Go to settings /Accessibility/
Enable :
Force enable zoom
Simplified view for web pages
I am also using ArrowOS and Text scaling
Working properly in my chrome browser. So check your chrome browser updated or not from play store.

Dnt try to install the security app of MIUI particularly...
But Try to include these....
try to focus on the daily data usage ui
App lock option with neat ui(with face unlock if possible)
Daily Data tracker on the notification shade/status bar/under qs tiles
I think hope you will be the one to try these on the stock rom....
Hope you add these features in your rom updates..

worked like a charm! why are you so clever? haha
I'm still having problem rooting and magisking this device. I think i had root access before. After flashing this rom the clean way, i lost my root =(

You want to root your phone just flash Magisk-v20.0.zip file via recovery and reboot your phone done. ?

i tried it. it says error 1. I downloaded mi max 2 stock boot image from some obscure site, attempting to solve error 1 prob. Ended up soft brick
so re-do everything with arrow 9.0 unroot for now
do you have stock boot image for me?
