has anyone noticed how fast the proce for new is dropping? - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Guides, News, & Discussion

I'm taking about the unlocked version, not the carrier 'price fixed'. On eBay and Amazon in the US it's dropped to $860 for the dual SIM model, which is close to $150 off, and it's falling every day. This doesn't happen to Apple, often happens to other Android devices, but is much faster than the Note 8 last year. Demand must not be so high for it...
BTW I have the note 8 too. While this device is better in every way, in most cases it's just incremental in my view. Has I known this I'm not sure I would have bought the 9, at least, may have waited longer.
Just my own view...

Do me a favour if possible, draw up a price chart monthly preferably. Cheers

DS always goes down in price first. I'm calling $800 and $1000 within 3 months for snapdragon models.

Electronics basically lose 50% of their value within a year, regardless of brand. A few exceptions exist, but not many.
They're not an investment. ?
I sold my $960 Note8 for $480 a few weeks ago. I was fine with that. Seems about right.

I bought the note 9 from Switzerland last Wednesday for £719, today it is down to £689 haha, I could have waited a week

so, where to buy in USA without getting price gouged?

So, I've checked out the pages in blackphantom's list of 'where to buy' (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3514744) this phone, but of those sites that I have examined, the prices being charged are all several hundred dollars higher than the base price (supposed to be around five hundred, with most sites charging 700-800 and up). any suggestions? i bought my oneplus one for 350, even here in the states, and i love it. i honestly still do not have an actual 'reason' to buy another phone right now, even though my phone is 2.5 years old (still works like a freaking champ, and it's gorgeous, imho). the mi mix is the first phone in a while that looked like something i would consider upgrading to, but i'm not going to spend more than five hundred dollars on a phone, particularly when my phone is still kicking it.
any suggestions?
Just wait until after CES & MWC 2017 pass by,along with the usual Q1-early Q2 phone announcements/releases.
Limited production quantities of 10k/month is the reason for the 3rd party mark-up.
If you live outside of China, it's the price you're gonna pay.No one here has paid the MSRP w/o a mark-up & that will be the case until other mfgs emulate this design.

Holding out for CES 2017 is a good idea. Xiaomi will be there. There is a white variant that has been leaked on the Xiaomi official forum, which is quite ugly. Personally, I would prefer a North American version of this thing. If they don't release one, hopefully the buzz about other devices will bring the prices down a little.
Yup. There isn't one. Best I found was on Swappa.

why do Samsung devices devalue so fast?

It's one of the things that bugs me. I bought s8 plus when it came out and now you can buy it for $675, which means second hand value has plummeted. Contrast this with my iPhone 7+ which i recently sold for about $100 less than i bought it for when that came out. I think k Samsung does it on purpose as a way to make their older devices compete with newer LG, iPhone etc but it should be a consideration when purchasing.
Simple answer... because it is not an Apple. Any device that is not an Apple devalues quite fast. I noticed that Google phones hold their value quite well though. But they also only release one phone a year like apple does. Unlike other OEM's that release 2-3 phones a year. Just my opinion btw.
Because Samsung heavily discounts the devices very quickly. There are really only 3 phones should be able to hold value, Pixel, iPhone and Samsung's. If Samsung didn't make huge discounts so quick they would hold their value.
For instance look at the Pixel, Google didn't discount it and it has held well
Sent from my HTC u11 using Tapatalk
Not unique to Samsung. The LG V20 for example was £550 when released and now is £300 on ebay for a new device. This price drop will kill v20 prices. If you want to keep value of a commodity Android device, then buy a Vertu!
EDIT - how is this thread relevant to the Note8? Perhaps a troll thread.
Samsung devices devalue so quickly because Samsung pumps out so many phones in one year. And, they have 2 premium phones that release every year. This makes Samsung discount their newer phones after a few months, which causes the phones to devalue.
^this, supposedly they shipped 20 million S8's already... saturation!
Again, why this thread in a Note8 forum? If you can't justify cost of the Note8 then don't buy one.

This is a Note8 sub forum not a general have a go at Sammy forum. This thread should be entitled "Concern About Note8 Resale Value".
I always used to jump into the latest and pre-orde... For my s8+ Spent close to 600 $ and tied to a 2 year horrible plan...two month later they were selling it for 99 for the same plan.. Was so pissed off...
So I am going to wait it out for a few months and then get note 8...
So let it get devalued fast

Maybe the devices lose value so quickly because they never were worth that much to begin with. Not saying they are cheap but they are taking in the dough at your expense. I mean do you think the cost price that mobile companies pay is almost a g? Only devices that sell close to cost are iphones. But iPhones bring subscribers so companies accept the cost of business.
If people didn't rush out to buy them and held on to devices longer we wouldn't see these high prices at release but we keep jumping on the hype train so we don't to ourselves.
Then the flip around is oh man it's time to upgrade, well I'm not gonna pay that much for the note but this s8 plus is close enough and cheaper. So now you get this wave of people seeing the note hype but not wanting to pay as much so you go buy the last s series.
On top of everything you guys said, the other problem about keeping value up is updates. They do not keep updating like Apple so if you buy last year's model chances are you will not get this year's Android version. I hope Note 8 continues to get updates but I won't hold my breath. For this reason I stopped buying Samsung devices, but I really want a note back.
The value of such devices is also highly linked to the country one lives. The USA always seems to get great deals.
In this country the consumer is identified as an inconvenience to the stores and not seen as their source of income.
Prices here hold very VERY well on all goods.
I only make certain purchases here that I need a fast response to if a problem arises otherwise I buy from another country.
Samsung, for instance, have given zero 'offers' to those who suffered the situation with both past iterations of the Note 7 despite great inconvenience to the customer. They simply have this attitude of 'who gives a crap about the customer'.
If I didn't need the S-pen I would be certainly buying the new LG V30. As it is Samsung have the monopoly on smart phones with a pen.

If Verizon hadn't already shipped my Note 8, Samsung would have lost a customer over their poor handling of the Note 7 fiasco. After comparing the Note 8 to the V30 I had decided to cancel my pre-order but I was too late, it had already shipped. The V30 is a huge improvement over the V20 and costs so much less than the Note 8. I was also irritated at the lack of incentives for Note 7 customers other than trading in another device. I can't say without the V30 in hand but it seems to be almost identical build quality and specs for a much lower price. Better watch your back Samsung.

No chance of updates after 18 months after initial release. Google only require their vendors to support the Android OS updates for a short period. I agree, in that respect, Apple is better until they issue an update that takes-up too much of your memory!

I agree the V30 looks great. But, the V20 was selling well below MRP after 6 months. I got my dua SIM 64GB version of the V20 for only £300!! Half the price of the V30. Poor value after 6 months is what happens to most Android phones now given that ZTE and OnePlus make great value devices now.

I entirely agree with your first sentence.
You mention your Note 8 has "Shipped"!? I was under the impression we would not receive the Note 8 until at least the 15th of this month. In this country I will be very fortunate to see it until October!
You can always refuse delivery and get your money back.
To me the V30 is strong opposition and competition for the SGS8 not the Note 8, they are two different animals.
If we think about the comparisons being downloaded on Youtube so many compare the note 8 with the fruity iPhone 7? they is zero comparison as they are two two different devices. The iPhone 7 (if one MUST make a comparison) could be debated along side the SGS8 but even then the differences in cost, OS and so many other factors make such comparisons rather false.
So many are waiting to compare the iPhone 8 with the Note 8? Why? If one wants to pay 1200€ for a mobile running IOS then buy the fruity brand, its going to be a superb mobile but unless it comes with a pen and Android ........I am off topic, sorry.

If you want the LG V30 can't you simply refuse delivery of the Note 8 at the door and get a full refund?
With the exception of the fruity brand we have up to 20 days to accept or reject a purchase with or without reason. I assume you have similar protection in the USA? Don't ask how the fruity brand avoid this, once one opens that plastic wrap consider the iPhone yours! There is even a notice in the stores by the fruity brand stand stating this. Grrrr.
I hope things work out for you there is nothing worse than buyers remorse especially at these prices. Let us know what you do in the end.

Very tempted for the Best Buy offer + my birthday coupon, but is it worth it?

I got my Note 8 last year through Best Buy with Verizon, and there was a sweet promotion that pretty much rendered my Note 8 to only cost $306 by the end of my two year device payment plan. It's my main phone use of today.
About 3 weeks ago, I found someone selling a Galaxy S8+ of a few month's use with LOTS of charging accessories for only $200! I went to pick that up because it was such a steal and it would be cool to have a backup phone to say the least.
So now it's the month of August, and Best Buy awarded me a 10% off coupon on select items. Apparently, it works for the Note9! And the trade in they're offering is $450 for an S8+/Note8 towards the new Note9. So $100 off + $450 = $550 off a $1000 smartphone! And if I am able to sell the AKG headphones, this new phone is practically a few hundred dollars!
But then I'm thinking to myself...is it really worth it to switch to the Note 9 as my main? I can sell away my Note8 for extra money back in this overall "dilemma" and I'll just continue to make payments as if nothing happened because I doubt Verizon will know whether I have the phone on hand or not. lol
What do you guys think? I have until Thursday evening to jump in on this. Is this worth it for the amazing deal I've found here?
Some speculation, but the terms on the Best Buy trade-in offer mention it's via a gift card and coupon. I'm not familiar with how Best Buy applies coupons, but it could be that the two coupons might not stack if this is the case... unsure. Otherwise, I think it's a decent deal, yes.

I was on chat with a Best Buy representative last night for an hour to verify everything, and he told me to keep screenshots and come into the store to place the order while having them process the trade in so it would all work.
A Note 9 for sub $600.00 is worth it, just from a math perspective.
Here is the breakdown you provided. You paid $350(Note 8) + $200(S8+) = $550 All-in.
If you got the Note 9 it would breakdown $1000(Note 9) - ($100(coupon)-$350(S8 Trade In))=$550 for a Note 9; if you sell your Note 8 for more than $550 you profit.
If not you still win because the most you will have spent for 2 banging phones is $900.

Oh uh, the Best Buy deal only allowed one trade in device, so it would be the S8+. That phone is eligible for $450 towards the Note 9. The birthday coupon takes off 10% from the regular price, so that's $100. That's how it came to be 550 off the phone. The Note 8 could just sit with me or I can sell it either way. Hehe
Of course it's a great deal! This phone is substantially better than the Note8 in my opinion (as a Note8 user/lover), if nothing else just for the battery! Although there is a lot more I am excited about (pen with BT for photos, more storage, more RAM, new color, contrast with signature ink, improved camera, stereo speakers, etc.).
I'm not 100% sure how it works, but you may have to pay off Verizon for the Note8 though. I thought I had heard that if you try and buy a phone that has not been paid off, it won't work. In other words, you could not sell your Note8 and have the other person stick their SIM in it. I could be mistaken, but I would look into it!

Nice to hear from a fellow Note8 user. I was debating about if it is really worth it, but I would really like a fatter battery for sure!
I'm not going to do anything to hand over the Note 8 though, so passing up the S8+ is my full intentions.

I actually also have an Orchid Gray Verizon model. It is easily my favorite phone that I've ever had. The ONLY things keeping it from perfection (in my opinion) are: (1) battery size, (2) lack of stereo speakers, (3) fingerprint scanner annoyance. Those have all been fixed (along with the obvious processor upgrade and camera upgrade and pen upgrade), so I am 100% positive this will be a dream phone for me. There are literally no other phones I even care about or am jealous of (I often get phone envy...). This thing is going to be amazing, which is why I splurged and got the 512GB model to make it the ultimate dream phone, future-proof phone (in case I keep it for a long time!).

I think I'm going to do it, just hoping I won't get screwed over in store saying it can't be applied even though it shows it for me online.
I loved my note8 until it was stolen...
Anyway, I pre-ordered from Samsung. I drove over to Costco and they are giving away some type of $70.00 charging kit with your purchase but you must finance the phone which means a query to your credit report. For some reason you can't just purchase the phone outright.
Bestbuy did not have any deals on this phone. I spoke with their Samsung rep who demoed the BT from the other side of the store and took photos... Pretty damned amazing!
B&H Photo/Video has a pretty nice deal but I didn't see any way to trade in your old phone with them. + they are charging you NYC Tax which is pretty damned high!
Anyone know where the best deal is on this phone? For now, I'll stick with my order from Samsung's website. They still haven't charged my CC as of this time which makes me think that maybe I won't be getting my phone on Friday. UGH! Since my Note 8 was stolen, I've been without a phone for the past month and it's been a pretty damned painful month but I survived .

I have written this before and will write it again. You guys and gals in the USA are spoiled with Smart phones. The deals you get are amazing. No such deals exist in Southern Europe in fact I may add the whole of Europe.
In this country we have to pay top price for smart phones.
My note 7 (both of them) came with nothing. S8+ came with nothing, Note 8 came two months later with a DEX. This time after numerous complaints to Samsung in this country we managed the amazing deal of trading in our 12 month old Note 8 costing 1,020.00€ for the Note 9 costing 1,030.00€. We got 500.00€ deducted. Never known such a deal and probably never will again! :highfive:
In your case you should jump at such an offer. :good:

Alright, just to update:
I went to my local Best Buy to do the whole process in store, and the employee helping me was confused at my coupon code working for the unlocked Note 9. He called the manager and 2 other employees came and huddled up to see what was going on. They were calling me out about the Unlocked Phones being in their exclusion list, but I told them it worked in my Cart online, and showed them all the screens and from the app. Then I told them to try using the code on another unlocked phone they have available in store that was regular priced. They pulled out a Galaxy J7 phone that was $220, applied the code.....BAM! $22 SAVINGS! THE CODE WORKED!
The reaction on all their faces were priceless! So I go ahead and placed my order for pickup, and they processed the S8+ I had on have for $450. Now I just have to wait for tomorrow to pick up!

The taste of victory is pretty sweet! ?
And I asked them about my Note8 currently being in a device payment plan. Really, I could still sell the phone for profit and still continue paying it off at the end of the two years because it's easy to just switch Sims and just go on with your day.
My Best Buy order switched to "Ready for Pickup" today, so excitedly, I drove into the store to, you know, Pickup my phone.
However, they said I wasn't able to pickup until tomorrow. Kinda frustrating to say the least.

A70 price in Europe is 399€

Hello, confirmed by Samsung DE price is 399 Euros https://www.samsung.com/de/smartphones/galaxy-a70-a705fnds/SM-A705FZKUDBT/
UK price was confirmed pre-launch as £369, but Samsung UK have gone very quiet on the subject now. Although there is a product page on their site (https://www.samsung.com/uk/smartphones/galaxy-a70/SM-A705FZBUBTU/ which was actually there from before the start of the big Launch Event on 10 April) there is no pricing or any pre-order option yet.
I do hope it will actually arrive on 26 April as promised, as my main workhorse device has recently died and I'm having to use an old Galaxy S4 in the meantime, and the A70 looks like a perfect replacement for me on paper at least - big screen, big battery, decent enough processor for non-gaming use, decent enough camera as I use a DSLR for real photos, and a 3.5mm jack and SD Card slot.

Same here. I had a Galaxy Note 3 (until it's memory chips sadly gave up on it last month, which was terminal, RIP) and I would always carry a fully-charged spare battery tucked away at the back of my wallet. If the main battery ran low during a busy day's usage, I would pop in the spare and instantly be back up to 100%. No messy cables or bulked-out booster covers to carry, and no recharging time - just zero to 100 in about 45 seconds. Sadly that ship has sailed now it seems.
Also my Note 3 had a bigger screen than any of the supposed "upgrades" that Samsung have released since. And by bigger I mean wider - I really don't care especially about taller/thinner devices with ratios greater than 16:9 as I can't reach any of that upper area one-handed anyway. The strange ratios also make it impossible to properly compare devices by diagonal screen measurement of course, as it would be possible to release a half-inch wide device that is 7 inches tall and still market it as a 7-inch screen! I'll have to live with it now though I guess, just as long as the new screen is not much narrower, width-wise, than what I'm used to (about 7.2 mm).
Oh, and while I'm whinging I also hate the curved-edge screens that Samsung has been making almost a trademark on higher-end devices over the last few years. What is the point, I can see no functional advantage whatsoever?
So anyway, back on topic, I'm hoping the A70 should tick as many of my boxes as possible as a replacement for my Note 3, apart from raw CPU power and wireless charging, and the pen that I never used. We'll see anyway - and hopefully very soon, although it's gone very quiet in terms of availability dates or companies taking pre-orders.

I notice that Samsung are doing a £50 off on the a50 if you take in an old phone (I have a HTC that I paid £10 from Tesco three years ago in a drawer) - hopefully they do the same with the a70...

Where is that A50 offer, online with Samsung? I know some markets have done a "regardless of condition / whether it's working", which would be a good way to dispose of my non-booting Note 3.

Hi,
Yes the OFFICIAL price in EUROPE (with tax included) is €399, for the version with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of Internal Storage. I'll prefer for this price to have the 8GB of RAM, but I feel Samsung doesn't likes to sell that model in Europe (like the 6GB of A50).
I hope to see some offerts around €350, as that's a good price for it!
I'm guessing we'll get the 6GB version too. Samsung UK support told me in an online livechat (no confirmed dates from them yet by the way) that the A70 will feature an Exynos chipset, which seems contrary to everything I've read so far (which says Snapdragon 675). I'm guessing they got it wrong to be honest.

Funny because my story is very similar. I had S8 which died, so now I'm back on my old S4 which barely holds any charge and is so slow and janky (with custom ROM). After using S8 for almost 2 years I realized that I hate curved screens with passion. A70 seems like a perfect phone for my needs, I'm actually counting days until it hits stores.

Everyone hates curved-edge screens, but no one wants to admit it. My girlfriend wants to get rid of her S8 (she reminds me every day how much she hates the curved screen :laugh. She's thinking about replacing it with a P30. I'm probably going to replace my LG G6 with the A70. I really miss a bigger battery and screen from my Huawei mate 7 days. Can't wait. Counting days with you! :highfive:
Samsung's customer contact team (UK) still doesn't seem to have any idea when the A70 will be released. They said this morning that they'll email me when they know anything more.
I did refer them to their own Press Release dated 27 March, which clearly states "The Galaxy A70 will be available in the UK from 26th April, RRP £369", see https://news.samsung.com/uk/capture-connect-and-conquer-with-the-new-samsung-galaxy-a70 (unless they redact it anyway).
Hey ho, just don't expect the left hand and the right hand to know what the other is doing.
Andre
I just had a reply in response to my email to the contact address that was given in the Samsung Press Release. They said:
Thanks for your email.
Yes as per the release, the A70 model will be available to purchase in the UK from next Friday, 26 April.
You can find out more information on the product here.

Perhaps they should inform their own online sales team then, and their customer services department, and maybe even retailers?
Andre
I contacted Samsung UK again (via their FB messenger) as there is still no availability info from their own website, nor from any retailers in the the UK, and they replied:
We can confirm that the A70 will be released on Friday, but there will be no pre-order, as this only occurs with our flagship models. Also, we are unable to confirm which retailers will be selling the phone, so are unable to comment on where it will be available.

Fingers crossed then, but it does seem odd for there to be such little fanfare, or even any demo units in stores, just a couple of days before a Samsung release though. I was hoping to go and see Avengers Endgame on Friday morning and buy a new phone in the afternoon.
Andre
Bad news guys, release date for A70 according to Amazon.de is May 15th. That would explain why there is no availability info in UK and elsewhere in Europe because it's still 3 weeks off.

If true, that would mean Samsung's customer service team doesn't know its arse from its elbow. So, would that come as any great surprise to anyone?

When the A50 was launched a few weeks ago there was no fanfare or pre registration, it just became available to buy in stock on the release day.
The concerning thing for me is that most European retailers are claiming they won't be getting stock until mid May and the A50 was launched in most European markets before the UK so it seems strange that they would reverse the release for the A70. And I doubt there would be a 3 week gap between a UK release and a European one.
Just gotta wait and see what happens tomorrow I suppose. Argos was the 1st retailer to stock the A50 when that was released so I'd keep an eye on their website tomorrow

I've been reading from multiple sources that it's tomorrow the 26th in Europe, maybe Amazon won't have it till May or maybe it is May,but I wouldn't be surprised to see it in my local Argos in the next few days, not really bothered mind you, still on the fence with this one

I did message Argos and they said they don't have any info (and they checked with the B'ham store and they have no stocks waiting for release) but sometimes these things just drop onto their system without notice, so to check back tomorrow. Not holding my breath though.
Oh well, going to see Avengers End Game in the morning anyway, so that'll be some consolation if no phone yet.
Andre
Samsung have now re-edited their press release to say "The Galaxy A70 will be available in the UK from the 3rd May, RRP £369". Also Caphone Warehouse have messaged me back to say A40, A50 and A70 all on 1st May. Ho hum.
On the plus side, The Avengers was very good.
Andre
See it on Amazon Germany: https://www.amazon.de/Samsung-Galax...+A70+Smartphone&qid=1556293783&s=ce-de&sr=1-3
Price €399 and delivery at 15th May.

General [INDIA] Galaxy S21 Ultra news, pre-order, offers etc. discussion thread.

Too early to believe, but Samsung Opera House(Bengaluru) has started taking blind prebooking for the Galaxy S21 series already as per THIS article.
Unsurprisingly India would get the Exynos 2100 SoC in this series and I just hope it performs on par with Snapdragon 888.
Why would they make the screen smaller for the s21 ultra than the existing one ? No one seems to have mentioned this.
yeah its only .100" smaller, too me that`s not a big thing for me, but the thing is it will have the LTPO display which I guess is supposed to give better contrast to black colors, also I`m not sure but i have heard talk of the fingerprint reader being 2x faster...... so well see, I`ll be ordering one in the unlocked in black the 512gb version
In the USA you can register for your S21 in the Samsung Shop app. Looks like you get an extra $70 store credit for registering. Can't wait to get the S21 ultra!

The thing I like about Samsung out here in India is that with perks of cashbacks & coupons(if prebooked) the pricing becomes eqivalent to the USA pricing(has been so far) ..
I'm finding the news [email protected] S21 series interesting too. Will get "Exynos" but highly it feels like it would be on par this time around, if not better, excluding the GPU.
I seriously hope the LTPO on the S21 series is far more superior to the one on Note 20U.
I had serious banding/green tint issues and a horrible battery drain problem due to it. The 60fps video recording also had hunting issues even with laser auto focus.
I'm back to S20U, the display feels a lot more stable and a long lasting battery.

We're coming from S10+ getting the Ultra cause of the specs and my husband likes the camera features. It'll probably be to big for me but I am getting it. We won't upgrade for a while so I want the best of the bunch.
Do you think there will be any discounts with pricing if you don't trade in? I have a S9+ right now and am waffling back and forth between getting the S21 Ultra or getting a Note 20 Ultra ($800 thru work).
Have pre-reserved for S21 series because I thought we'd get the Buds Pro and Smart tag as preorder offers alongwith the free case. That is what the leakers had said a few days back but not it seems Buds Pro won't be part of the offer. Also coupled with missing charger and possible missing SD card and extra charges for SPen, will it be worth spending so much extra to sell my Note 20 U for the S21U?
P.S. The only reason I was willing to upgrade was because my Note 20 U is getting heated up a lot + because of the Exynos 2100 finally catching up to SD.

You got the VIP pass for the next Galaxy after you pre reserved it?
In India prebooking is of no use, last time for the Note 20U the cashback and freebies were offered even to customers who did not prebook and bought the phone well after the prebook purchase window. (craze for flagships in India are at an all time low, thanks to OnePlus and Samsung themselves).
Also the Note 20U was up in the corporate program with 5% discount in a matter of few days including the 9k cashback and freebies.
I will get the S21U only during the first week of Feb.
I'm expecting the price to be around 90k for S21U 256gig, anything more than that, I might as well wait for Z flip 2/3 later in April.

No I didn't get any VIP pass. Was I supposed to? If I don't like what I see tomorrow, I am going to just refund my ₹2000 and wait for Feb/March to buy it. The only thing keeping me from the flip/fold is that the camera is always a generation behind in these devices.
I for one, do no find these "pre-registering"(or any other name) hulabaloos fascinating at all given that it's a Samsung flagship.
Irrespective of card/cash or other payment methods, I've been getting Samsung flagships on the very 1st day of market release buying from small retailers for a much lower price than the price quoted by bigger retailers or the biggest retailers with a fixed price or buying directly from Samsung online or offline for quite sometime now. The cost everytime turns out to be the lowest this way in comparison to the cost combined with any other CC/DC cashbacks/corporate offers/exchange offers/finance schemes etc... you name it.
Samsung tends(or "pretends" to be precise) to be strict with such retailers but being consumers all we need is a genuinely sourced product and a proper invoice. It makes sense because once we want to sell it later, the resale value will not at all differ based on which store we bought it from.
+
In my case, prebooking offers are always applicable in the first place as one or the other re-seller does pre-booking taking the required credentials after me getting bombarded with calls soon after official announcement of the flagship.

Smaller retailer like non Samsung but authorized dealers like Sangeetha Mobiles, Chroma, Reliance Digital?
By how much you get a discount on the selling price, I have never tried this as I always get it from the Samsung Cafe.
I kinda feel awkward asking for a discount in Samsung Cafes

No not those big formats, they don't as they don't need to and they can't either. Smart cafés can but they will not.
Instead, approach a few small multibrand players if you have time for it. They need flagship buyers to stay alive in the eyes of big brands for their own promotion/survival and to do so, they let go of it for extremely thin margins.
I happened to purchase two N20U units costing 90k each from two diff. sellers(when it was 1st released) - that's one example.

AFAIK, Samsung smart cafe franchises actually get the highest profit margins for each product they sell compared to other resellers. And it's the marketing skills and subsequent illusions created by the staff that make one feel awkward to ask for a discount.... Nope? The one running the franchise CAN give big discounts, but doesn't want to. They actually ended up giving me discounts a few times in the past but then I stopped visiting them lately as altogether I don't find it worth it.
