Note9 dex - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Questions & Answers

It is advertised that dex for not 9 will work with usb c to hdmi. I would like to purchase a portable monitor to use with dex, however the monitors I want only support usb c- or usb 3-in for data transfer. Will dex still work through usb c-usb c or usb c-usb 3 or only usb c-hdmi? Anyone know?

dex works on all my usb to hdmi adapters.

As far as I know Dex only works via USB-C to HDMI cable.
Mine works great.

I use a generic USB C port splitter that has HDMI, LAN and USB A and it works fine

I'm using a USB C to Displayport 6ft adapter cable for Note 9 Dex support on an older HP monitor that does not have HDMI. If anyone wants to go this route I'm using a CableCreations product no: CD0465. Cost $9.99, purchased on Amazon.

Phone have usb type c version 2.
My questions:
1. This phone is really support hdmi alt mode? I don't see the image HDMI (or DisplayPort or Thunderbolt) alternat mode on the box.
2. If (1) is true. Any cable good for me? Ex. usb type c multiport adapter from apple store or necessarily with OTG?
3. How big is the latency video of through miracast (ex. ezcast)? If connect mouse and watch on cursor movement.
I tried this yesterday with a USB C to Hdmi adapter I got off Amazon and I had no luck connecting to the monitor.

Thans for the reply
I think they sold me a dud
Phone not supports MHL and other alt. mode
II wonder if a driver could be put into a ROM to support it via USB OTG since it doesn't support MHL?
I have an old external sound card, a Creative Xmod, that works perfectly with my roommates USB C, OTG adaptor.

I think because it is not implemented in hardware in the phone
If I'm correct Display Port alternate output requires USB Type-C 3.1 since the phone supports only 2.0 it shouldn't work. However not many phones utilise this feature even Google Pixel doesn't use this mode
Video out works fine on the 3T but only with Displaylink adapters. (So far anyway)
I have one and can confirm it definitely works either via HDMI or HDMI to DVI (I've tried both)
I used this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N40RQV4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
but any displaylink adapter or dock will work. (Make sure it very specifically says dispaylink, check the displaylink website if you aren't sure)
The only note is that displaylink says the Ethernet ports on the docks do not work with android.
(I suspect they might work on devices that support a regular Ethernet adapter though, I haven't been able to get a normal Ethernet adapter working on my oneplus 3t though for what that's worth.)
you will also need the displaylink app from the playstore though it does not have to be running.
if any of you have experience using an external Audio DAC with USB Audioplayer pro the process is very similar.
Once you plug the monitor in, a pop up will ask if you want to let the displaylink app control the adapter and if you hit "ok" it does the rest automatically.
Does the phone charge while connected to the DisplayLink adapter?
Just try with Chromecast or anything else with Mirascreen option
Does it work with Anker Premium USB-C Mini-Dock
Hi there everybody:
Have anyone tried to connect a dock like the Anker Premium USB-C Mini-Dock, Does OP3T work for charge and to view the USB ports of the dock? May be HDMI and Ethernet doesn't work but for me the matter is the chargue and the USB ports to connect an external DAC, a microsd and a pendrive. Regards.

Hdmi - dp - vga - dvi - usb-c

Hello, here is the following testing I have done to the Motorola Z Play, I have plenty of resources to play with the USB-C and all kinds of Monitors and TV's.
This is the progress: USB-C to...
DP: Not Working
DP 1.2: Not working
DP 1.4: Not working
HDMI: Not Working
HDMI 1.4: Not Working
HDMI 2.0: Not tested yet
HDMI Yuv420 (UHD, HDR) : Not tested yet
HDMI MHL (UHD): Not tested yet
VGA and DVI are not working.
HDCP is working fine on my device. I'm using the latest version of Lineage OS.
Do you want me to test it more to another output?
Hi,
I'm using this adapter : M.Way Aluminium MHL Micro USB to HDMI Cable Digital AV Adapter Plug
It permits to mirror the screen on TV.
just no video with Apps which have "HDCP" video copyrights protection like Netflix
HEY
dont use the stock DATA cable since that is only USB 2.0, buy a USB 3.1 data cable and repeat those tests once again and then post it here. now those results are just ****.

Do you know the diferences between the standard of USB-C and USB, right? What do you mean???
The cables that I did used are USB-C, and the panels which I used are DP, HDMI, VGA, and DVI.
Your comment makes no sense, cause a "USB 2.0 and 3.1" are the standard USB but with different cables. Im using USB-C, which is A LOT BETTER than the "recommendation" you gave.
Really, what do you mean??

i know what is USB-C is i am talking about the other end of the data cable,
you see there are TWO end to a data cable one end is USB-C and the other end must be USB A type with USB 3.1 wiring style that means its base should be blue color and it has to have 4+5=9 pins in it please google USB 3.1 A type for more info
in india stock data cable is USB-C to USB 2.0 A type connector with only 4pins thats why lot of guys who tried to connect HDMI has been failed because HDMI needs USB 3.1 which has 9 pins.

I have never said that i'm using USB.
My dongles are USB-C to Video Television or Digital Video. There is no way my panels accepts video over USB. These are my dongles:
USB-C to HDMI 2.0
USB-C to HDMI
USB-C to eDP(Female)
USB-C to DP
Why would I need USB, while I have the actual dongle without needing another dongle for the USB you are menctioning? Can you see the photo I provided please?
The reason none of the adapters work is because the type C Port of the Z play doesn't have the HDMI/video out chipset/hardware. Hopefully this will become standard on type c phones but right now, it's wishful thinking. Maybe if this was a Mac book the type c would do video, Ethernet, charging, etc...
Let's not forget, this is midrange phone. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news on this one.

Do you use it with the moto Z ? surprising as moto has an usb-c port, not a micro-usb.
Did you manage to have hdmi screen output from a moto z [ /play/play2/force] ?
Yes, I have a Moto Z play.
I use an USB-C to normal USB cable (same cable to connect to my computer) to connect to the M Way MHL adapter (female USB input, the male USB input is for power)) . This cable is certified USB 3.1
I have another USB-C to normal USB cable but with this one it's not working (usb 2.0 only)
It's a kind of hdmi output, the adapter works as an usb screencast, usb debugging must be on on the smartphone
hope it helps

WIRED TV out for Huawei Mate 10 lite (MHL or Slimport?)

Hello!
Has anyone tried any MHL or Slimport adaptors in this device for wired connection to a HD TV!?
I currently have an RNE-L23 and I am willing to purchase one of this but Im not sure if they'll work.
Thanks in advance.
im pretty sure these standards dont exist in usb type c adapters, any usb c to hdmi adapter should work fine, maybe look at something that is compatible with dex
Why do you focus on MHL ? I bought an affordable USB-C hub (20e), I so far only tested it on a VGA monitor with an adapter. Everything was fine. That's great a smartphone less expensive than Samsung Dex ones offers such feature.
Hello! i do not mind what kind of tech is. I just want to know if the Mate 10 lite can be connected to a HDTV using any wire or dock so I do not have to buy a TV Box for my Kodi.
It would be nice to know which ones work on the Mate 10 Pro.
I ordered one from Amazon UK, this wants to work (I see the Desktop Mode) starting up on the TV but then it loses signal and starts searching for a signal. I see the output on the screen for a fraction of a second and then it goes blank again and starts searching for Video Signal.
The one I bought was this (Which is going to have to be returned): Amazon £9.99 USB C Hub with HDMI
Do you mean to plug phone into tv? Usb c to HDMI cable works but can't charge at same time
No need for a hub
Hi, I have the same question but Huawei Mate 10 Lite don't have USB type C, it has MicroUsb.
Bought a Y cable, with USB c on one side and HDMI and USB A on the other and the phone can be charged in desktop mode.
I have a usb-c dock (amazon) and a usb-c to HDMI wire. I can charge at the same time the phone and I can use usb mouse and keyboard too.
It was less than 7 euro, btw.
Lite version might not have Desktop mode or USB TV-out at all.

USB OTG? Any dongles that work?

As the M5 Lite uses a USB C port (with USB 2 speeds according to reviews) I'm curious as to whether there is a USB C OTG dongle/hub/dock that works with this device? Has anyone tested this?
If not - I have ordered 3 dongles and a hub to test and will report back. Thought it might be useful for the wider community to be informed, whilst also inquiring myself.

To answer my own question - USB hub works fine, usb dongles also work - it seems the USB C connector is standard from this side of things. I've not tested HDMI out as don't have a HDMI adaptor.

Hi. Which adapter works for you? I bought one on Amazon usb/sd/hdmi to USB-C and it didn't worked for my Huawei M5 lite 10 but it worked on a Samsung A 2018. Also does the hdmi adapter work, have you tried it? Thanks
Hello.
I just bought the M5 Lite, seems to work great. For the USB interface, I have a usb hub which works fine with the tablet: it has 3 USB ports, and I am able to simultaneously access a USB drive, as well as use a logitech wireless keyboard dongle allowing use of BOTH wireless keyboard and mouse. However the newest hub which I bought specifically to use with this tablet, a "FitFort" type-C hub pro, does NOT work with this tablet(although it does work with my Xiaomi telephone.) Therefore it seems that this tablet and hub are incompatible... The Fitfort hub power light does not even light up when plugged into the M5 Lite...This is dissapointing since the Fitfort Hub has an HDMI port which was the main feature I wanted to try out. I have researched HDMI output for the M5 Lite but have not yet found anyone claiming the HDMI output will work from the M5 Lite. By the way, although this Fitfort hub works fine with my Xiaomi phone(for UDB drives and dongles), the HDMI port does not work for this Xiaomi phone.
As for M5 Lite HDMI output, anyone having success with this please post info. Thanks

Question Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra usb type version ?

The 10 Ultra has no output on usb to hdmi connector. I tried it as I wondered after coming from a p40proplus which had a desk top mode. I imagine the 11 will be the same as it promotes the desktop app to share it's display like the 10.
You mean in wireless mode?
Yes,USB 2.0
It is still USB 2.0
Such a shame. Imagine transferring 500 GB of data with 30 MB/s rate.
usb 2.0, hahahha~It doesn't deserve to be called “安卓之光”
It's really disgraceful to use the best CPU money can buy , best ram, fastest ufs storage , best display , best charger and then go cheap on something like a USB 2.0 port.....
Someone who thought this was a good idea should be fired....
Yeah, i really don't understand why they put an usb 2.0 port. For a 2021 premium phone it's a nonsense.

I have not received my Mi 11 Ultra yet, but I believe it should work when using a Displaylink USB to HDMI Adapter and installing the Displaylink App on the phone. With USB 2.0 it should work fine for resolutions up to Full HD.
The USB Type-C Specification states that it must support at least the following standards, otherwise a Type-C connector cannot be used:
• USB 2.0 Specification
• USB 3.1 Specification
• USB Power Delivery Specification, Revision 2.0 (3.0)
• USB Billboard Device Class Specification, Revision 1.2
• USB Battery Charging Specification, Revision 1.2

I already tried it.
I had to power the USB C adapter then I plugged the Displaylink adapter to the USB C adapter.
It would not work without power.

Usb 2.0 was released in April 2000 and some clown at Xiaomi thought they should still use it in their ultra flagship 2021 phone ....
Words fail me...
I thought Xiaomi devices are 2.1 not 2.0

I use this
CableCreation USB HDMI Adapter(DisplayLink Chip), USB 3.0 to HDMI External Display Graphics Adapter Compatible with Windows 10/8.1/8/7, White https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DX33L5...abc_D4RSEZX9P70E6V3KSFR4?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
You need any USB C hub with a USB B A 3.0 hub and PD pass through.
Something like this
USB C Hub - TISOFU USB C Adapter with 4K HDMI USB3.0 SD/TF Card Reader 100W PD, 7 in 1 Type C Adapter Compatible for MacBook Pro, USB C Laptops Nintendo, Type C Devices(Gray) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B099WTZGM...abc_R2F1P2X1274TN188EYAV?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Then you need to give the hub power and then plug the displaylink adapter and the HDMI from displaylink to your video out device
Open the displaylink app on your phone and then plug your phone in.
Give it a few seconds if it didn't detect replug the USB C hub.
It's a messy dangle of wires but it works
