How do OTA updates work for F / DS - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Questions & Answers

I am wondering how OTA updates work for an unrooted, stock F / DS? I find it surprising that I am still on the August 1 security patch, and other F / DS models are on September 1, while some even received the camera patch. How does this work? Is it normal for it to be this far behind for the same model?

It's unbelievable. People are getting October patches, and XSP is still on August 1. It's as if Samsung forgot they even produced this version. What crappy system they use its unbelievable.

You did that without root? Did you have to factory reset the phone, and did you lose any data? Is it just as simple as flashing the firmware files with home_csc?

I did it without root and flash it with Home_CSC. I did couple of time using the CSC for clean setup. But now I am having error "SW REV. CHECK FAIL. DEVICE: 2. Binary: 1." when try to flash back to firmware with Aug security update. Will spend sometime to work on it. Currently on BTU firmware Oct security update, no other issue found also running with samsung experience 10.

Note 8 Australia shows update in Sammobile but no update on phone (XSA - N950F)

Hi
Anyone has similar issue? Sammobile shows firmware update from 19-Feb-2018 but the phone is not showing any update. I checked for update manually and didn't work.
Anyone has solution other than updating using ODIN?
Thanks.

I never seen like that. Sammobile doesn't have any affiliation with Samsung. There is no way they could get the files before Samsung releases them.

Was fine and no loss of data, settings or apps.
Have pattern to unlock on and just booted fine.

How many times are you asking the same question?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=76408024&postcount=1146
That said: do you know WHY you don't receive OTA-updates?
EGY: N950FXXU3CRC1 N950FOXM3CRC1
XEF: N950FXXU3CRC1 N950FOXM3CRC4
See the difference?
The FW you flashed, was NEVER released for your CSC, that's why you don't receive OTA-updates!

That gives you the right to ask the same question many times in different threads?
That's what "we" call "spamming"!
What didn't you understand from my answer?
You WON'T get any updates for your CSC EGY with the XEF-builds on your phone!
Flash the latest FW for EGY, and you will get OTA's again...
@Elsa3ek,
flash with the latest Odin version, your CSC back to CSC CRC1 and you will get OTA updates again.
You need the CSC CRC1 from your Region.

Hey Venom, ever since upgraded to pie via an update file from XDA, my software update screen says this and I never get OTA updates. I always have to flash each rom manually thru Odin.
Any ideas why my phone can't update via OTA anymore? I have not tried factory resetting or anything. I have however flashed several firmwares via Odin with no change.

Originally a Sprint N960U
Hi,
I have had an issue with my Note 9 with the firmware from November right before this. I prefer Oreo to Pie so I wanted to update. The AT&T N960USQS1ARL2 files I have downloaded do not includ the home_cmc file and I do not want to reinstall apps and data. Please advise how I can get the home_cmc file.

I have already downloaded the firmware for the AT&T version. Here are the following numbers:
AP: AP_N960USQU1CSAA_YYYYYYYYYY_ZZZZZZZZZZ_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT_meta_OS9.tar.md5
BL: BL_N960USQU1CSAA_YYYYYYYYYY_ZZZZZZZZZZ_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
CP: CP_N960USQU1CSAA_XXXXXXXXXX_YYYYYYYYYY_ZZZZZZZZZZ_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
CSC: CSC_OMC_OYN_N960USQU1CSAA_YYYYYYYYYY_ZZZZZZZZZZ_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
USERDATA: USERDATA_ATT_N960USQU1CSAA_YYYYYYYYYY_ZZZZZZZZZZ_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
where X = CP11692010, Y = CL15119493, and Z = QB21580044.
Once you have downloaded the Pie firmware for Sprint, can you check if the X, Y and Z values match?
Furthermore, should I flash the USERDATA file as well if I want to use AT&T features like myAT&T, AT&T Wi-Fi Calling, and AT&T Visual Voicemail? I worry because if I don't flash it, some AT&T features may not work correctly, especially for the 5G E symbol.

5G E is just a symbol. You are NOT getting increased speeds from seeing it.
Userdata is no longer needed. This is universal firmware, and it uses the SIM card inserted to determine which bloat/features to enable.

I'm on the same boat. I tried manually checking for updates for the past week and nothing.
I manually went into Settings - Software update - Download and install --> then the Feb updates available
Thanks for the info!:good:
I'm on pie n hate it
Sadly it is only a security update while the s9+ got A LOT in the Feb update (wifi range fixes/stability, dark mode schedule without dev options, other mentioned fixes and ofc the update is a lot bigger).
Update is available in Australia (101.21 Mb)
I also received an update today my phone is flashed with H3G Ireland
