Huawei Mate 20 Lite - bad bluetooth quality - Huawei Mate 20 Lite Questions & Answers

Has anyone else problems with poor bluetooth quality?
There are some threads for other Huawei phones with the same problem. (https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-10/how-to/mate-10-pro-crippled-bluetooth-t3769366/page3)
I've got poor audio quality over bluetooth, too. The high and mid freqs are distorted. So i can't hear music over BT.
Let me know if you noticed something familiar.

I, too, am experiencing issues with my bluetooth speaker quality.
When playing music, audio will cut in and out but it almost sounds like a CD is skipping, which is weird. What I noticed is that if I received a notification or if there's a background process running, the skipping was even worse.
I did a Google search earlier and I saw some other people having the same issue, but now I can't seem to find the page.
I'll be following this thread very closely and will update as I dig for more information.

May I ask what type of bluetooth device is connected to the mobile phone? What is your current mobile version?

The speaker is a Bose Soundlink Micro. I'm actually updating the firmware at this moment and will be using it while biking to work this morning.
My previous phone (Honor 8) never had this issue.

Update: Forgive me for hijacking this, but I believe it might be related with the BT radio along with background processes which maybe could be related to OP's issue.
When connected to my speaker and playing music, turning off the screen, then turning it back on again reproduces the audio skipping issue. Audio goes to normal after 6-8 seconds but will happen again everytime I wake the screen. Does not matter what app I'm using (spotify, music player, google music, etc).
Hopefully, an update or someone figuring out a hack would fix this but I am actively trying to find workarounds for the interim.

Bluetooth car streaming distortion

I am experiencing distortion/popping/cracking while streaming music via bluetooth from my HTC One to my car's headunit. I'm using the default music app and 320kbps mp3s. Never had this issue with my Galaxy SII.
I turned off Beats Audio, but that didn't solve it. I hope a fix can be found for this because I love this phone.
Anyone in the same boat?

I am having the exact same problem. Quite frustrating. Main problem is distortion, particularly in higher frequencies.
I have tested my HTC One on headphones, and there is no problem. The problem is over bluetooth streaming to car head unit. I have used 2 other phones (GSIII and Iphone) on the same head unit without any problem.
I largely play 320kbps spotify files.
If this problem can't be fixed in the short term, I am strongly considering returning the phone as i consider this a serious fault.
Apparently the new update (1.29) fixes the bluetooth issues amongst other things. I've still not received it though

I can confirm this, 1.29 works great streaming over bluetooth to my car stereo. No distortion at all with beats turned on.

Any other thoughts on what the problem could be?

That might be the problem, even though that is a 4.2 issue.
It requires a software fix.

I am having the same issue with my 2009 Acura TSX and I'm running version 1.29.401.13. I have contacted HTC about this issue and it was escalated to a higher echelon of techs to work on, but so far, no answer or fix.
I have even tried the "fix" located on a german site, still no luck.
Yep... Bluetooth over MyLink sounds awful in the high frequencies... Almost like its only transmitting at 48kbps.
Did anyone every get this issue fixed?
Would flashing to another ROM fix it?

Bluetooth Streaming - Popping/Crackling Music

Just got some new Bluetooth speakers and noticed a really weird issue. Music plays fine but throughout you can hear crackling and popping in the songs. Really not sure what’s going on. Heard it could be wifi on 2.4ghz network so turned it off, tried on 5ghz same result. Turning Wi-Fi off doesn’t help either when I stream with an iPad Air no issues whatsoever so I’m wondering does anyone have this issue as well. Would like to believe it is not my note misbehaving. Anyone else experience something similar?
Im using PlayerPro by the way.
Try Google music and see if you still get cracking. I've got nearly a dozen different bluetooth devices between home, car, and office and all sound great with GM and BeyondPod.
I've streamed mine thru bluetooth. No crackling or popping sound over here.
Yeah I'm may be the speakers or the phone I'm trying to narrow it down. I'm inclined to believe it's the phone. Since an iPad air gives me no issues. I do have volume boost and viper4android installed.

Bluetooth works perfectly here, although the distance seems to be shorter than other phones I've had previously but that could be because of other factors.

Bluetooth sound stream interruption
I think this is a common issue with bluetooth sound streaming and its implementation in Android. I experience similar popping sounds every time phone sends and individual sound to the speaker. Android doesn't seem to maintain a permanent audio stream, probably due to some optimization. The implementation is horrible though. If there is no stream available and a sound is played, it first establishes the stream. This takes some milliseconds. The sound can be completely missed if it is short enough. The stream doesn't persist either (power saving?) if no sound is queued after so you hear some amount of hissing until the stream is terminated. This is what generates that popping sound (noise to complete silence).
I think in your case, there is a bit of wait between two songs and this is what you are experiencing. I have the same problem with the Nexus 5X. After this many generation of phones, I'd expect such fundamental problems to be resolved but no luck. It may be a hardware issue but I can't tell. I haven't experienced the same issue with any of the iOS devices I have used so far including multiple generations of iPhones, iPads.

Marshmellow Bluetooth Phone Issues?

As soon as I updated to Marshmellow I instantly starting having issues with my audio quality via bluetooth car. On 5.1.1 voice quality was fine, but now it sounds almost like it's out of phase and skipping badly. Is this a known issue, if so, is there a fix?
Thanks!
I use BT in my truck every day. I haven't had any skips that are consistent. Every once in a while, I might hear the audio drop for a split second, but I don't find that it's worse than it was before. I use mine for music and voice calls. I never have any trouble with voice calls. I've always had those little random split second drops with any phone I've had, so I figure it's my stereo.
This sounds more like someone put the whole car underwater and is trying to speak with their mouth full of water as well. I had no problems before when I was on 5.1.1. I've tried a customer 6.0 rom and it has the same problem. I'll try going back to a 5.1.1 rom and see if still does it.

I saw issues where there were bluetooth connection issues where there would be no audio, but not specifically my problem. Do you have any documentation so I know what to look for in the future?
Audio streaming from something like Spotify is not affected, just when the car is used as a headset.

Thanks for trying. I went back to Lollipop and the issue is gone. Definitely a bug in Marshmallow.
My experience was opposite. Bluetooth sound quality was horrible on 5.1. After updating to 6.0 all problem went away. I was extremely happy with their fix.

Bluetooth audio - No Sound since OTA update to 4.1.7

Hi guys,
I searched the web and found a few references to this but for previous versions and no real solution
I have used Bluetooth audio in my car daily with Spotify on my 3T but since I OTA upgraded to 4.1.7 from 4.1.6 the other day there is no sound when Spotify or any other media player is playing in my car via Bluetooth audio. The car says Unknown Track and Unknown Artist but the car can still control going to the next and previous songs in the Spotify app on the phone meaning the connection is working. The 3T thinks it is playing the songs in Spotify and I can pause and play it from the car controls. There is just no sound. Is this a common issues or is it just me? Is there any way to fix it? I saw somewhere it was a Nougat issue, does that mean even another ROM might have it? I'm hoping there is a fix that doest mean wiping my phone
Thanks
Hi,
I have exactly the same problem. I tried everything, but no sound comes out of my speakers. Any ideas?
For everyone consulting this Thread for the same issue, It has been noted by Devs at OnePlus, and they're working on it. It has been affecting many users.

Appears to affect certain car (head unit) makes. 4.1.7 works fine on my Subaru (Kenwood head unit).

Unstable Bluetooth bitrate

I have a serious problem with Bluetooth audio.
I have really good headphones, but they are quite old and there's no support for ldac or aptx (just sbc). However I'm coming from Huawei P20 Pro and I never had any problem with audio quality on that phone.
And what exactly I mean? When I'm listening the music I can hear occasional drops of audio bitrate. It's extremely annoying. And no, I'm not using different Bluetooth devices (but I was able to do this with Huawei which had older Bluetooth version [!]), everything about multiple output is disabled, that option in developer's menu is set to 1.6. I'm out of ideas and pretty disappointed that premium device like Note 9 have problems with basic functions like this.
Ps. It's not a problem with my device. Same thing is happening on my friend's Note 9.
connect headphone via Bluetooth then go to
developer mode enable it/Bluetooth audio codec/(select the code you needed)
At what volume do you listen via bluetooth?
I have the same issue with my car receiver and noticed that if i play it at max volume i experience that and if i play it at a slighty lower volume, one or two steps from max, the issue is gone (or so i hope) for now it seems it is resolved by lowering the volume from max, or it is fixed in CSC1

u sure ure not streaming through some streaming app and not reading actuall media from internal storage?
I'd try local media and see how that behaves.

I do not know about the OP but in my case regardles if it is a streaming service (deezer) local files (mp3) and sometimes with call audio, it does that.

No. I'm not using any streaming services. Just FLAC or 320kbps AAC files ripped directly from CD.

I'm not listening on max volume, but sometimes it's close (older or more niche music recorded and mastered properly).
Btw just tried listening on my dad's S8+ and it's the same, so Samsung generally has something broken with sbc codec which is rather disappointing.
Btw, I'm using European Exynos model.
That's probably why Samsung still includes the headphone jack with their phones. I don't use bluetooth that often, except in the car and I don't recall experiencing any issues with it. Maybe I don't pay attention to it, but I will this time and see.
