Early TPU Cases (Warning) [29-11-2018] - Asus ROG Phone Accessories

I would like to share my experience. I have bought one of the TPU cases sold online currently which almost all share the same build. The case is good but there is a downside to using it; you will not be able to use Air Triggers with it on. The device will not be able to detect your squeeze unless you have the grip of an ironman and of course detect your frame taps. The only case currently that seems suitable to use without any sacrifice is the official one by Asus which is ridiculously expensive and I don't think it's worth its price.
I think the issue here is with the phone frame touch sensitivity and not necessary the cases. Unless the case has a very very thin soft shell or a cut out i doubt any TPU case will make Air Triggers work.
Update(29-11-2018): I ordered another black case similar to the previous one( the Pics shown below) but with a cut out for the ROG logo in the back. To my surprise the case came with a cut out for the Air Triggers too( 2 cut outs in 1 side and another cut out on the other side total 3) which wasn't mentioned in the seller website.
Here is the thing though the cut outs are very small to use comfortablely( you can't use the squeeze function because of the size but you can use the tap function) what you can do to enlarge the cut out; is to cut the sides of the holes to make further touch space if you prefer to do so.
So next time you buy a similar black case make sure to confirm with the seller the existence of the cut outs. Good luck ?

I thought the same thing and also attaching accessories which is why I unfortunately am waiting for Asus to release their case here in the US.

I just received the Asus case and on the website it says it won't interfere with the accessories, however, the instructions say otherwise. The two plastic pieces that go on the ends of the phone have a sticker backing, so once you put this on, you will no longer be able to connect it to anything else. The instructions even say you won't be able to use any of the docks. And to use the aero cooler that came with the phone will require to remove the middle plastic backing which doesn't have very good tabs to begin with. Also, found it impossible to use a very thin metal plate between this case and phone in order to use magnetic holders. So, looks like I am returning mine.

Would it be possible to cut out the area where the air triggers are at and/or the back to expose the logo?

There are cases with a cut for the logo so no worries regarding that. About the air triggers you can make cuts for them but that will render the case ugly and not worth it. I think we will need to wait a couple of months until other options are available. I think a good idea for a case would be similar to what Asus did but with better implementation; which I think will be on the way.
Regarding the squeeze function I think it's a bad implementation compared to HTC devices. My previous phone HTC U11+ had a thick TPU case and I was able to squeeze easily to trigger functions but with the ROG I don't think it's even possible or rather as easy.

Currently i think the best alternative to the official case for our device without losing features(Air Triggers working) is this:

I bought it from Taobao, the number of days it takes depends on your location mine took 3 days. You can find similar cases on Amazon too. You can check the links above.

I Just bought this One, 4€ on AliExpress ?

January will soon be over and there is still no fitting case for this phone. These AirTrigger cutouts are too low. They are simply not where they should be. Squeeze doesnt work. The Phone itself is great but the missing community and the utter lack of support from Accessoire manufacturers are significant downsides.

I just bought the transparent TPU case. I will share my final evaluation of it after using it for some time.
One of the good things about this case is you can see the Aura notification light flashing from the side when the phone is faced up. All thanks to the transparency and light reflection. So if the room is dark you will know there is a notification without turning the phone with the back facing up to know there is a notification.

Try the squeeze function. You will notice that the AirTriggers dont work. I have pretty much the same case.

I have the same case and prefer it to all the others I have tried. My air triggers work just fine.

Actually air triggers work ok for me you simply need to squeeze near the top edges of the cut outs and you also need to reduce the squeeze pressure to the minimal number. i wouldnt say they are perfect they actually needed to be positioned a little bit higher but in terms of the cut out length I would say it's sufficient.
As @spoonerweb_com stated this is currently the best case out there. I hope we get a transparent case in the future but with thicker skin for protection especially the edges.

same on my one too

I have recently received the same case (different brand though) as Rashad83. Air triggers work fine, sensibility is fine and you just need to get used to feel the edge of the case when using the triggers. I have been able to play PUBG with the Air Triggers woking fine.
I have not set up the squeeze function as I have not used it, maybe shall try it later.
Only drawback of this case is that it is not "high" enough on the phone edges, so if you put your phone screen down, the screen will touch the table-whatever it is on, so a screen protector (glass preferably) is recommended.

Nutshell: http://tuff-as-nuts.com/index.asp?PageAction=COMPANY
I had contacted Nutshell regarding a customized Horizontal Case (black) that will fully enclosed the HTC Advantage X7510 with the leather pouch included about 2 months ago. I was able to get intouch with Ian Miller and was basically received with open arms. I was asked to submit my design and the dimensions.
The dimensions are: 5.8 inches (lenght) x 4.4 inches (height) x 1.30 inches (depth).
It is closed by a velcro flap that fully covers the top of the case preventing any accidental exposure to the elements.
The back of the case has the D ring and metal belt clip lined with leather. But in all honesty, I think it would have looked better if the metal clip was left without the leather strip cover. It would looked nicer if the silver finish of the metal clip was shown rather than hidden.
But all in all, the case is very well made. The stitches and cuttings were done right and very clean. The case will protect the X7510 and it's leather pouch while having the ability to clip it to your belt or trousers on the go.
I paid $95.00 for the case, but it may become cheaper if it will be popular.
I have attached pictures for you guys and gals to check. I believe NUTSHELL will mass produce them if the demand is high enough.
THANK YOU NUTSHELL (Ian) for a case well done.
Feel free to ask questions...

nice find as i just bought myself another case but this one i like a lot better although the case i bought was only $49
Thanks Christian. Glad to help.
As this was a prototype, we have not yet given it a part number...but we shall and then post it to our catalog.
With your blessing I"ll use some of the images you have posted here.
Obviously we shall try to price it right, but as the first few will, like this one, be hand cut, pricing will have to stay the same in the short term.
However, if there is an interest (and it has to be considerable to make it worthwhile, we'll likely look at getting the assets that will enable us to run off some volume).
That said, it really is over to the community to determine if this product gets wings...or....?
A suggestion: Maybe someone could open a book to register interest (bulk purchases work best and enable us to finetune our pricing). As I am not a regular on this forum, maybe that someone could run point for me on this.
So it really is over to you guys.
We'll do what we can.
All the best.

Nutshell,
Very well taken pictures indeed. Looks like real good quality pouch. Is it made to custom sizes? I normally carry my device without the keyboard, so it is quite a bit thinner and smaller. What would be the total cost shipped to Australia?
Also, a question for cktlcmd. Currently, I have a soft pouch, and taking it out is easy, as I can squeeze the soft pouch to push out the device. With a hard leather one, I imagine it is not easy to squeeze the bottom to force the device upward, so one would have to lift it up. Would that be easy? Or would the device be too slippery for that, even that I carry it naked?

In my case, since it also houses the X7510 with keyboard and the leather case, it is not slippery at all. It is easy to grab it on top and just pull it out. The case itself is not made of really hard leather plus it is lined inside with felt like skin to protect the device from being scratched by the case itself. The technique I use to get it out fast is to pull on top and press each sides of the case because that is where I notice the greatest hold on the device occurs.
In your case, since you will probably want Nutshell to adjust the measurements to accommodate just the device, it won't even be a problem because of the soft felt lining, it will just slid easily in and out.
It trully is a nice case. I wish they had designed it like this from the start.

Sure, we can make you a slimmer horizontal case.
Costs would be the same.
We would need the dimensions without the keyboard.
Shipping to Oz from NZ depends on how quickly you would want one.

Will the 7510 case also fit the 7500/7501? My understanding is that they are the same dimensions... Anyone know offhand?
Thanks for the topic
Have anyone ever seen a vertical case for X7500 for the use without the external keyboard?
This is a bit off-topic, but personally I find the HW keyboard to be the ultimate screen-protector and would not dream of leaving home without it (even though I use my Advantage in portrait-mode 95% of the time).
On-topic again I would guess that one could use any case made for the 7510 WITH keyboard as this unit is just a bit thinner than the original 7500/7501.

No. The keyboard is the most effective way to ruin your device with scratches. Take it away if you want your unit to look new all the time. If you really must have the keybaord, put a piece of cloth between the unit and the keyboard to prevent them from rubbing against each other.
We have different experiences then eaglesteve. I have used my HTC X7500 for well more than a year with the original book cover (with the 3 clips) and have only miniscule scratches on the keyboard itself, not on the main unit.
I now also have the Piel Frama Case (since a month ago) and with this case it would be even more difficult to scratch the unit with the keyboard.
And even if this was NOT the case I would much rather have endured a scratch or two than having my screen broken due to a fall or pointed item pressing against it (even in the pouch). The solid steel of the keyboard over the screen gives me an ease of mind I will not trade for the sake of a marginally smaller "package" to carry around.
And now, with the vertical Nutshell-Pouch I hope to enjoy my Advantage X7500 for a long time since no better device (for my needs) seems forthcoming from HTC or any other manufacturer.
I agree with eaglesteve - I've had more scratches/rub-marks from the keyboard than from anything else. Keeping the keyboard as a screen protector is a non-issue, just make sure the screen faces towards your body when its in a pouch, or in a pocket. On the weekends I leave my Nutshell and the keyboard at home, and just face the screen towards my leg in my pocket.

finally after many, many tries, a case that really works. well made. beautiful. sturdy. i got the mag lock. very nice, highly recommended.
Well... I just order mine from Spain... 10/14 days to wait... will see. I'm risk 99.95 USD on it.
I just receive the confirmation email... good signal, my VISA still works.
Received last week.
Well finished... and the quality is according the price.
The X7500 fits perfectly even with it's case. Since I'm not placing the X7500 in the case with the original one there is place for my backup battery.
Great job Nutshell
This case is nice! But I always wanted a case that would allow me to hold my X7500 without the keyboard,so it would look like a slim and supersized-screen IPOD! That I can put into my pocket easily..like an IPOD.
So, I have a question for Nutshell: can you build us one? But I can someone here volunteer to provide some dimentions for an X7500 or X7501, coz I really sucked at the whole designing and measurement thing, afraid I would screw up the whole thing.

Poetic Slimline for Nook HD

Just purchased and received the Poetic Slimline case for the Nook HD. Here is the link: http://www.amazon.com/Poetic-SLIMLI...804667&sr=8-2&keywords=nook+hd+7"+poetic+case
Currently the case is just $6.95 with free shipping. Current as of 2/13/2013
The case has has a plastic base that clips on over the body of the Nook HD. This helps to make the fit very snug while adding very little to the depth of the device. There are cut outs for the volume rocker, headphone jack and for the power button. The bottom of the case is left mostly open for access to the micro sdcard, proprietary port and the LED light hole. There are also two holes for the speakers on the back.
The plastic case is covered with a faux leather type material. This allows for a relatively tacky area so the device will not slip out of your hand. This material also covers the front of the device protecting the screen of the Nook HD. On the inside of the front cover is a soft velvet like material that is nice and soft preventing scratches on the screen. The front cover can also be tri-folded behind the device to act as a stand for the tablet. This occurs in landscape mode allowing for a decent angle to watch movies or other videos. It does not provide any support in the portrait mode though so it will not help with reading books.
The front cover clicks in to place with the back plastic via magnets. This helps to secure the cover so that it does not flop open. It also provides for a way to turn your Nook HD on and off when opening or closing the case. This is a great feature that will actually bypass the normal lock screen so that when you finish opening the case your device is on and ready to go. However, if you enable the password lock screen then you will still need to unlock and then type in your code.
This case comes with a 3 year warranty from Poetic which is very unusual for cases but is a great feature to have.
One con I found in this device after its arrival was that there were some threads coming out from between the two material types on the front cover of the case. This were easily clipped to make things look better but it does take away from the idea of the case being of top quality. My only other concern is how well the materials will hold up while using the front cover as a stand. If used very frequently it could lead to cracking of the front cover. However, I will only be able to tell that over time and not for the day that I have had the case so far.
So far I am very impressed with the Poetic Slimline case for the Nook HD. I recommend anyone looking for a nice slim case to pick one up.
4.5 out of 5 stars.
Some more pictures in post # 4.

This looks great. Exactly what i have been looking for on HD+. this is avilable also for HD+ at $8.95.

Did i forgot mention you?!? I know why ... I just dont like any case on mob/tab and etc devices. Only acceptable are film skins which ones give a sense of the real item.
Questions: I had a Poetic portfolio case, had one dumb thing, pen holder on the back surface. Is there one on this? Also, I like to be able to stand it up in portrait mode for reading, but I think this one only stands in landscape, right?
Thanks

There is nothing on the back. So no worries there.
This case is not designed for portrait use. It might stand straight up in portrait but it won't be very stable and there is no way to change the angle.

Far and away the best commercial case I've had for a tablet flavored device. And half the cost of the nearest competitor in the
'decent case' catetory, and that one was for a 5" Samsung media player.
I get the impression that these are from a maker who also makes iPad cases and uses many of the same materials. The front has three
longitudinal strips of material - but the third is narrower than the first two. I'll compare it to a smart cover tomorrow - my memory is
that that cover has three bands of equal-breadth material on the front
The fit in the rear is good as delivered, but may start to loosen up over time, and doesn't have a cutout to match the grommet
in the corner. I may add a cutout (I have a grommet setter for fabric) and then use a shoelace or similar to fasten down the back
on that side. That could also get me a loop for a stylus, which would be useful to me. The fit across the front is a little too
long and a little too wide, which will annoy me over time or I may get used to it.
The cover activates the wake from sleep in CM10. The device sleeps itself after a minute by default, which is fine with me.
All in all, 8 out of 10.

i think i got the last 8.95 one as after i ordered, the price jumped to 12.95. maybe it's back down now, haven't checked.
anyway after about a week of use, i like the case for the price but have some minor quibbles. the case is a bit creased/folded on the edges when it shipped, so it doesn't perfectly conform to the shape of the HD+. maybe over time it will smooth out.
the stand notch is not very solid and i've had it slip when i'm moving around, not sure if that's standard for case stands. also the "hand strap" is kind of hard to pull out, but i mostly use it in landscape mode so not a big deal.
like i said not a big deal especially for the price, but not a perfect case.

Artech 21 Folio Walet case review!!!!

I was lucky enough to be selected to receive an review one of the new Artech 21 cases for our LG G4's. I have always wanted to try a case like this because I like the concept of having my phone and wallet stuff combined, can't forget either that way (or both if I'm really scatter brained). Sadly, I never pulled the trigger due to my wife having had a couple and the quality just not being there a various points, enough to cause a total lack of will to try one for myself.
Enter Artech 21.
I received my case very quickly and packaged VERY well. No pics there, sorry. Let's just say that their attention to detail extends beyond simple production. I got it yesterday and immediately put it to use, and let me just sum it up like this. Simply stunning craftsmanship, and perfect in every way.
All pictures were taken on a Nikon D5000 using a 35mm f/1.8 lens for ambient light with some later flash shots and the really close ones towards the end were switched to a 18-55mm kit lens.
Let's just start with a couple of ambient light overview pics.
On the front side, we have a clean leather face with a reinforced spine stitch line down the left side, and a very classy and subtle company logo on the bottom right.
On the rear we have the same spine reinforcement stitching going down the right side, and very well sized and placed cutouts for the speaker and camera. Very very well done.
Throwing that one in simply because I like how the focal point and bokeh came out.
Opened up you can see I've already put it to use. It's housing my work ID card and drivers license in the clear thumb hole pocket (VERY good idea to put the thumb hole there, makes accessing those a snap). Also houses the two debit cards I carry along with my costco membership card.
The pocket underneath the cards won't hold a fully unfolded bill, but I wouldn't expect it to either. I don't carry a lot of cash so folding bills up to put in the pocket isn't a concern. If you do carry more than a few bills this may not work for you because they would bulk up the front side quickly. Money clips ftw.
The inside of the case is finished in a very fine suede to go wonderfully with the super nice leather exterior parts.
This pic above is a look at it closed. The clasp while small, is perfectly strong and small enough to be unintrusive. The back side never sits perfectly flat due to it's designed fold for stand usage, which isn't a big deal. Even with all my cards in the front side it still sits very flatly closed. Very well made in terms of size.
Flipped view on the bottom side. You can see how the back never lays truly flat, but this is by design.
Now, I want to move on to some good stuff. I've done sewing professionally on industrial machines, so I have a good idea what I'm looking at in terms of quality. And this case is just dripping with quality. The craftsmanship is absolutely fantastic. Extremely even stitching lines, wonderful stitch spacing, straight cuts, even the back stitching on the starts and ends is perfect. Here are some close up shots below:
Last part, the holder for the phone. This was a huge fail point on the couple of cases my wife had for her G2. There are ZERO worries here. Below are installed pics of either end:
The closest comparison I can make is that Artech 21 took an Incipio Feather case and used it in their folio case. The phone is VERY tightly held in place, but utilizes the least amount of shrouding possible at the same time. I have zero worries of the phone ever popping out of this holder and case.
I honestly have found no flaws with this case. It's new to me so using the phone is a little awkward at first, but I'm adjusting fast. Using my shoulder to hold the phone to my ear is actually much easier now due to the added case thickness. It holds what I NEED to carry with me with extra room to shove a days worth of receipts and a little cash, but without leaving enough room that I start packing my wallet full of stuff.
As far as recommendations for future changes or improvements, the only thing I could think of is the potential to make the magnetic clasp two sided so you could flip the front of the case all the way around and reuse the clasp to hold it open. And maybe give the option for people to have a ID card pocket installed on the front and not have the clear one in the inside (I'd choose that because I use my ID card to get into the plant I work at every day I work). But those are two very very minor things that aren't necessities, just feedback for possible future options.
One last parting shot for posterity sake:
I'd like to say thanks to Artech 21 for giving me the opportunity to try your wonderful case and just say that if you're looking for a wallet or folio case, by all means give them a try. They're worth every penny and you won't be disappointed.
Piggyback Review
I'm going to take the opportunity to piggyback on the review by Fastbird here and not clog up the accessories thread with 50 of these reviews on the same case.
To begin with, mine is the dark version of the case, and so aside from it's obvious dark color difference, it also has a full plastic case around the phone vs. a side-to-side hug case and the wrist strap. But enough talk, let's get into the case itself.
Opening the package reveals a few things, the case which looks, feels, and smells great; a wrist-strap (I chose not to use this), a business card, and a 10% coupon code for another product with a request for an Amazon review (to come later). Having used my phones naked for the past 4 years, a case, especially the folio wallet type, was quite a change, but after 3 days of use I'm completely adjusted to it. The case definitely adds some bulk to the phone as you’d expect, but my phone spends most of its time on a desk or somewhere else, not in my pocket. I’d say ladies with small pockets are not going to find this comfortable to have in there, and even for guys with tighter pants/jeans, it’d be the same deal.
The case is very well made, definitely had the touch of an Artisan in the stitching. You will notice the backing on the leather is most likely a nylon which is glued to the natural leather back and sewn around the edges. The front and back are both double layers of leather and the spine seems to be only a single layer. Holding it in your hand is easy enough when you fold the front around. As I mentioned earlier, the plastic phone case is a full edge case vs the light brown only hugging the sides. I use the Skinomi Tempered Glass protector on the screen and it doesn’t push any of the edges up. The phone definitely isn’t coming out of the case either.
Taking pictures in portrait mode is somewhat difficult because the back tends to want to fold around easily if you don't hold it right. If a way to lock this in until you want it to be a kickstand was developed, it’d be a major improvement. The cutouts on the back don’t get in the way of your shot and landscape is easy to manage. My cutouts aren’t quite centered, but it is such a small offset, you can't notice unless you are looking for it.
Closing the case comes easy because of the magnets in the clasp. However, if you want to really use it as a wallet, you’ll find it initially difficult to put more than three cards in the slots. I couldn’t get it closed with all four slots full. I don’t plan to really use it other than for cash because I have too many cards to fit in here anyway, but if you only have a few you use often, it could be really useful.
As a kickstand, I found no complaints. It doesn’t fall down, close or otherwise cause any problems if you are just watching a show. The cutout for the speaker does muffle it if it is closed and face up, but that’s what you get with a rear speaker phone.
Overall, if you want to make a statement with your phone, don’t already have a leather back, and plan to hold some cash, IDs, etc… then I say grab one of these cases. The best part about any case is that you can always take it off when you don’t want it and put it on when you do!
TL;DR
Pros:
- Hearty construction, high quality material, artisans touch
- Firm grip on the phone
- Card slots if you're into that
- Kickstand when you want it
- Wrist strap (dark version only)
- Keeps your phone safer than it is naked
- Color choices
- Compatible with glass screen protectors
- On sale on amazon right now! http://www.amazon.com/Artech-21-Premium-Italian-Handmade/dp/B00XKHWIG4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1435201794&sr=8-2&keywords=artech+21+lg+g4
Cons:
- Floppy back when using portrait mode camera
- Needs some stretching to fit a card in every slot and close
- Probably too bulky for tight pants, jeans, short shorts, ladies pants, small pockets in general (although I think it'd be a problem without a case in some pockets too)
- Everyone is jealous!?!
Props to Artech 21 for making a superb product, allowing me to review it for free, and bringing some extra class to my already awesome LG G4.
So it's been nearly 2 weeks since I started using this case, figured I'd post up an update. I'll just say that I'm NOT going back to anything else. I just spent the past week on vacation in Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge TN and having this case was remarkably not cumbersome at all and extremely convenient. Case is holding up fine, no signs of wear, no split seams, no pulled stitches. Holding up extremely well for the amount of use I gave it over the past week.

Like above, I too dont want to clutter up the accessories page with reviews of the same case so ill throw some additional pictures out there and give a few pros and cons for me.
PS: Im using a leather back on my phone, just a FYI
Pro:
- Leather quality looks and feels great
- Stitching was done with what looks like a good quality thread
- Glue that holds case to leather cannot be seen and holds the two parts together great
- Leather back phone fits very snug in the plastic holder, might be a con if it pops out, but for now its a pro
- Wireless charging works with a generation 1 Samsung charging pad
Cons:
- I can fit 3 cards in my case and it closes fine, when I put my 4th card the case sometimes opens up, and with the 5th card it never stays shut. I wanted to use the case and leave my wallet at home, but I unfortunately will not be able to, at least right now. I will give the case a few weeks with 4 cards in it and trying to stretch it out. If I can fit 6 cards in the case I can ditch the wallet completely and just put everything in this case.
One last note, its not really a con for me because I have big hands and long fingers but the thick leather might be hard for some users to hit the volume down button.
If you would like any additional photos or have any additional questions feel free to ask
UPDATE 1Well I just got to my office today and I was really excited to see if it would charge on the wareless charger....and even with the thick leather back it DOES! Now I'm sure it all depends on the charger you have, but I am using a 1st generation Samsung charging pad and it works perfectly with the phone. Im sure any newer name brand unit will also work, the china models, YMMV. Pictures below
UPDATE 2After having the case on the phone for less than a week the plastic holder for the phone has started to crack with the leather back on my phone. The cracks look minimal at the moment but I will keep an eye on them to see if they spread. Updated with pictures below.
UPDATE 3Well a week and a day in one of the corners is starting to crumble. The phone looks to be falling out of the case as well. Its a shame, since I absolutely love this case. Just in case anyone is wondering, I keep the phone in my back pocket at all times when walking aroud. I have never dropped it, sat on it or anything. This is just the wear and tare of having the leather back and pulling the phone in and out of my back pocket.

sorry for that inconvenience
I'd like to apply to review this case, but would like to know if the plastic cracking is an isolated issue or if it's being addressed in a newer version to be released for review. Thanks!
Thank you for sharing and the photograph great

Any idea how / why the cracks appeared? Like how do you use the case, do you put your phone/case in your pocket where it would get stressed? I ask because I store my phone in my pocket and wonder.
Posted update number 3 above. Looks like it might be time to retire this case already.

So pocket stress in other words. Walking and bending in part crushing / extreme pressure to the case and phone.
This is why I usually keep mine in softer plyable tpu in my front pocket. I know just walking around and going up and down stairs I apply a lot of pressure on my phone and cases. I had other previous model phone in white cases that would form stress cracks. The black versions would be slightly more flexible and not crack. Used to be many people complaining about it being a manufacturers defect.
In larger pockets my phones would sometimes rotate horizontally. If i didnt catch and rerotate reposition the phone I wouldnt be surprised to find my screen cracked from the bending pressure.
Perhaps artech should redesign the inner holder would be my suggestion. Use a more plyable nylon material, instead of ridgid plastic?
Is it a hard clip on? How hard would it be to replace the inner holder? Would be easy for a user to do it?
My review
Just got my case in today JULY/25/15. So I will edit and update as time goes by using the case.
Initial thoughts;
First I must say it is a very nice solid yet soft and supple case. The color is like a natural imperfect tanned turmeric and honey. I really like the magnetic clasp. It auto locks, you can pull flap open and clasp detaches or you can manually flip it.
Was disappoint to see it does not have the ability to turn the phone on and off when opening and closing the case.
Update JULY/26/15;
The clip on portion is ultra thin and hard-rigid plastic. The case exposes the top and bottom, allowing for direct access to 3.5mm headphone jack, micro usb port, mics and remote IR.
Functionality that is missing for me is the ability to use the phone while the case is closed, it has to be flipped open to answer and stay open for the duration of the call. It does not have a front speaker cutout.
UPDATE August/02/2015, 1 week + 1 day;
Flip back kickstand is a nice feature. It allows for the phone to be propped up while watching videos / youtube.
With normal use the case as held up nicely, showing no signs of wear.
I've been able to remove and reinstall the phone several times and have not experienced any signs of the inner holder cracking.
It is still annoying to have to open the wallet and keep the cover open to talk on the phone. It makes it awkward to handle. I've also not wanted to crease the bind by flipping the cover all the way back. This makes the phone thicker and harder to hold for smaller to medium sized hands.
So far I would recommend this case for those that like a wallet you can carry your phone in. Although what fits into it as a wallet is very limited. Perhaps better to call it a stylish leather case capable of protecting the phone and holding some important essentials.
..to be continued..

Your thoughts on magnetic holsters

Im looking for a holster, i found some but most have a magnetic closure. Im not sure if its ok for our phones so i just wantes your thoughts or experience with it. I use samsung pay every day and i dont want any sensor to be off because of the magnets.
Maybe im a little paranoid over it because it probably takes an extremely powerful magnet to cause any harm but im not willing to test it out lol
None of the magnetic items for the phones will cause any harm to your phone.
You may notice that the stylus doesn't work where the magnet is, but it will work just fine when you move the magnet.
As a Samsung Experience Consultant, I do not recommend anything magnetic, I think they mess with the device internals.

You do know many manufacturers use magnets in their devices and accessories, including Samsung and Apple, right? Every Apple smart case / cover utilizes magnets and (as much as I love Android) I can honestly think of no more reliable tablet than the iPad.

You think or you know?
You should only be putting out info if you know. If you don't know, and it is clear you don't, then you should not speak on a subject.
Magnets will in no way harm the phone unless you are using super powerful magnets, what you use to hold the phone to a dock and things like that won't bother it in the least bit.
I do not recommend any of the Samsung Flip Cases to customers because I have seen them cause problems with devices before. I do not recommend magnetic closures because I have seen them cause problems with devices.

What sort of issues have you seen?
It seems strange that Samsung would release a product that would interfere with one of its flagship products and sell it as an accessory.

I'm not sure if this is specifically what you're asking about, but I've been using a Scosche MagicMount (http://amzn.com/B00I608BJ8) for my car dash and love it! I lay the larger metal plate (it comes with two sizes) at the bottom of my case, oriented where the longer sides are parallel to the bottom of the phone (let me know if you need a picture). I don't stick the plate to my phone, but rather set it inside my case. It turns out to be the perfect length and height for the Note 5. Wireless charging and Samsung Pay still work great. I used that picture of the Note 5 where someone made the back of transparent to make sure the wireless charging coil inside the phone does not over lap with the metal plate that comes with the mount.
I bought a nice leatherette case for my Note 5 only to find that the S-Pen does not work on the right hand side where the magnet is. I took it off immediately and went back to my Body Glove case.

I purchased a wallet case on eBay. I noticed there were areas on the screen that wouldn't work. When I flipped the removable phone case there were 6 magnets...three on each side to hold the phone in the wallet. These magnets are small, but the impact was terrible! I I'm attaching pictures of me using the s pen to find the areas on the screen and the back of the phone case.

Like I said. "Magnets will in no way harm the phone"
This isn't harming your phone, it does do as you have seen which is a TEMPORARY issue and has already been discussed, it will cause no permanent harm to the phone.
I don't know about magnetic holsters but magnetic car mounts most definitely YES. I've used many holsters over the years, for all kinds of types of phones. I haven't really thought about it till I saw this post. My buddy has a good magnetic car mount for his s7 edge, but I don't really know anyone at the moment that's using a magnetic holster. Just my opinion though, the last time I used a holster was way back in January and it was actually pretty good. It was a best buy branded platinum, with kickstand holdster and case like a 3 in kind of deal but not magnetic. It fit could on my belt clips for my jeans and suit pants. Good luck
bought the Bracketron brand at best buy, the magnetic part is on the mount, it is a metal plate stick to your phone so no interference from the magnet, not owning a note 5 tho.
I put in some small tin paper cutouts INSIDE my note 5. I took the back cover off, peeled the sticker with the color/logo and spraypainted it a nice black then just glued the tin paper inside of that. Then I took a flat wireless charger and added neodymium magnets to it, modded it to be as small/thin as possible then covered it up with some black thin leather I bought from Michaels. I mounted it up to my car's console and now I just plop the phone onto it and it sticks tight and fast charges, no wires or case. Worked perfectly, but in hot weather the leather would become a bit slippery so it would slip off, but I fixed that with a couple of very small circular double sided gel tape on the bottom just to provide a bit of friction. I've ridden like this for the past 5 or 6 months and it doesn't slip or fall off at all, heavy bumps, hot weather, nothing dislodges it.
The only thing that doesn't work is the spen, and that's only directly over the magnets, but I wouldn't write on it anyway while it was mounted. Otherwise I've had zero difficulties with it. I'll post up pics if anyone is interested, but it's a bit frankenstein looking.

Mi Smart Wake-up Flip case

This review is of the Mi Smart Wake-up Flip case in Blue/Grey.
Overall it seems quite well made it contains a hard shell case inside for the phone.
The phone fits quite snug inside the shell.
The outside is made of quite hard plastic & a perspex window, on the inside it has a felt type material inlayed on the plastic.
It has the Mi Logo embossed in silver on the back which looks quite nice.
By the overall feel of it I believe this case will wear quite well probably better than the MOFI & has good protection all round for drops & knocks.
All the appropriate cutouts are big enough & clear every peripheral device needed, the speaker holes are not covered in any way & it's even slimmer than the MOFI case.
Again as with the MOFI case if you have the back flipped open & pick up the phone it covers the fingerprint reader...so it needs to be closed or semi closed to unlock :/
I'm not too sure whether I will use this case as I'm not a fan of the large window but that's a personal preference.
A Thanks goes toTo2c.com as for ordering the RN4 it was a gift.
I have this exact case! Since the XRN4 isn't really a mass circulation device (at least outside of China), I had to go with it since this was the only case the vendor had on hand. I must say, it isn't bad but the pleather coating is kind of cheap-feeling and I'm just not a huge fan of cases flip cases.
On top of that, the top, bottom and left side of the device are exposed -- so if you put this into your pocket, make sure you don't have coins or what-not because they may ding your XRN4.
Since this is a Chinese device, one of Hong Kong's popular accessory makers, Nillkin, has a few cases for it. I put in an order for a TPU case as well as a harder plastic case. This case isn't terrible -- for the price I got it at (around $7), it's a solid deal -- but I'm probably going with those Nillkin ones as alternating daily drivers since flip cases really mess with my device usage flow.
Guys I bought this case also for my Note 4 - but I cannot get it to unlock or lock when flipping open or shut. I have enabled it in the settings (Lock -> smart cover lock or unlock screen). I turned on Smart Cover and I choose a case type of "Transparent front cover".
Any ideas how I can get this to work? I am using the official Global MIUI ROM.
we shut the cover . .... I need like samsung or something like devices has that option like clock or notification and like that on smart view .. is that any app for that mates????
Keep in mind this type of case will not work with custom roms due to not having access to the kernel files for the phone.
Could you please provide link to the case?

They may work now cause custom kernals are available. But the flip case is a bit rubbish so I don't bother with it.

Oh! Thanks for the clue. I know the case is a bit rubbish, due to the fingerprint sensor in the back... but I have it, so I should use it, while I find a good tempered glass solution.
