Black navbar on LG V40 (adb shell didnt work) - LG V40 Questions & Answers

Hey y'all!
So I recently got the LG V40 and I've been trying to change the navbar to black like my V30 with the adb shell instructions found in a Note 9 thread. The commands go through just fine in powershell but nothing changes on my phone. Anyone else trying this and having issues? One thing I found weird is that I cant just put in adb as a command it has to be .\adb for it to be picked up.
Any help would be welcome, the white navbar is driving me crazy!
Thanks!

Just use the app navbar apps on Google Play for now. It will work fairly well. Btw this is the wrong section to post this. This should be in the q&a section.

I just went to settings, general, accessibility, vision, and turned on high contrast screen. Bam! Black system theme. I also installed Nacho Notch to make the status bar and navigation bar stay black too.

Use nacho notch on the play store.

Can you remove the notification status bar (notch area) using adb? Does it extend the screen real estate or turn the notch blank black?

Some of the Themes for the LG theme manager are being updated for the v40. I have been working with Nguyen Ngoc Giap to Update his excellent themes to be compatible with the v40. His dark and Black pixel Themes include this Functionality.

You should just wait a week or less for something that will actually directly support the V40. My gut tells me there are some in the works. Trying random themes that don't officially say the V40 is supported is just asking for trouble!

Overlay Thread - Verizon s8+

For those who have not headed over to the overlay post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8+/themes/substratum-inversion-ui-overlay-overlays-t3604341
There are some cool things going on with themes and overlays. Some non-rooted methods are allowing us to change system icons, colors etc. Not eveything has been found yet so please be patient..
Here are a few of my additions. I do not take credit for making any of these other than changing the colors. A lot of these have been made by people in the original post and if you like their work please post up a thanks or donate to them.
When installing, pay attention to the package name if you wish to uninstall. Uninstall via app manager.

Can I ask what Samsung theme your using?
red neon in samsung store
Here is a lil easier to read notifications, make them red..
Also make sure to re apply these apks after any theme application or updates.
ars0n i LOVE the red work you've done and REALLY wanna put it on my phone...but the files you've posted...ive installed and tried to use before and once rebooted..the only thing that would show up is the tab to access the edge screen and i wasnt even able to use that..my point in this ramble...is there something im doing wrong? do you need to be on the stock (Out of the box theme) in order to use these?
try the red neon theme, you should be able to download 1 0 min trial.
Can I ask if you have any other kind of theme or oer lays installed? Navbar or status bar mods/apks?
I am on stock verizon rom that came with phone. And on the newest update and the overlays still work (had to reinstall).
I'm on stock Verizon ROM. And no other mods installed. Was just hoping to get this to work without having to factory data reset again if it doesn't...
Do one at a time for me if you can and let me know.. I am using the verizon framework for the s8+ but I am also on the newest update, so not sure if that matters or not.
I only use the newest syustemui RED ON RED with the blackred in call UI, just 2 apks plus the neon red theme. Install the theme first, then do the apks and reboot and let me know!
Ok. I am on the latest update as well. I think where I went wrong easier installed all the files you posted and also didn't have the theme installed
Is the theme which made your status bar icons red or was it one if the overlays?
the system icons and red nav apk should do it. The battery is also red now.

Alright thanks, I just needed to know because I'm gonna try and edit it to make it blue instead so it matches my theme.
Great work!

Red nav on home screen has to be done by enabling immersive mode.
For the red batt, try the second system APK i posted a few posts down.

[OnePlus 5] [ROOT] Save Power Using Substratum {AMOLED DISPLAY}

Guys Almost Everyone of You Know That Our Lovely OnePlus 5 Uses AMOLED Display. But Do You Know How AMOLED Display Works? Let Me Explain :
LCDs like the ones you find on the*LG G3*or*HTC One (M8)*produces light with an LED backlight. The light shines through the pixels and into your eyeballs. In this case, a black pixel is simply one in which the pixel has turned opaque—it blocks all the light streaming in from the backlight. The backlight is still on just the same.
An AMOLED doesn't have a backlight at all. Instead, each little sub-pixel is like a tiny red, blue, or green colored light. If the screen is instructed to display black, it doesn't need to block any light, it simply doesn't light up any of the little colored sub-pixels.
So, If U See A Part of Screen That Is Showing Pure Black Colour, It Means It Isn't Showing Any Colour Resulting In The Best Black You Can Experience.
So, Now How To Save Power Using This?
First of All You Can Use The Stock Theme Option Inside Display Settings To Set The Theme To Dark. It'll Save Power During Stock Apps Screen.
In Third Party Apps, Use Substratum Theme Engine With Swift Black Theme (Most Preferred For Pure Black)
Here is Full Guide: (For Rooted Users Only)
1. Download Substratum Theme Engine (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=projekt.substratum)
2. Download Swift Black Theme (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.brit.swiftblack.layers)
3. Run Substratum, Go To Swift Black Tab & Choose OOS 4 From The Top List.
4. Select Third Party Apps Only (Chrome, Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp, Gmail, Drive, etc)
WARNING : I Don't Recommend Theming System Apps Like Settings, SystemUI Because They're Already Dark Themed, But You Can Always Try On Your Own Risk, If Stuck On Bootloop, Just Flash Rescue.zip Inside Substratum Folder In Main Directory
5. Click On Install Overlays Button And Wait For It To Complete.
6. Reboot
Now Enjoy The Extra Juice Saved By AMOLED Display.

I'm pretty sure Swift Dark is grey as opposed to Swift Black being true black.
Swift Black does not work properly on OnePlus 5. For example Youtube when trying to play playlist it crashes. Also some apps crash when swift black is turned on. So I just removed it.
That Sounds right. I also looked again in PlayStore.... So i think i buy also the dark one.

Doesn't that defeat the purpose because swift dark isn't actually black?
Sorry i meant the black one. The dark i already own.

Dark Is Grey/Gray & Black is True Black (The One Which Works On AMOLED).

Black notifications white text

Has anyone found a way to get white text with black notifications without root? Every theme I try has white text for stock apps, but all 3rd party apps still have the hard to read grey text. Thanks
This has been discussed in the themes and mods section, if you do not find something there, most probably there is nothing available yet

I was using substratum before the Oreo update, but it sounds like too much of a pain in the butt now that need to plug into a computer all the time to use it.

I guess the system resources has to be themed specially for EMUI.
I use the swift black theme as well, but also the theme "Alpha" theme for LG V30, which themes the system/notifications separately.
Alternatively, you can try to change the built-in dark theme for EMUI (Settings > Battery > Darken interface colors).
Thank you for the answer
I'll give a try the alpha theme
AND yes i have the dark interface in the settings
Unfortunately, several important applications don't work correctly when themed with Swift Black. Google, Chrome, Gmail, Maps and Agenda are a few. I contacted the developer, but there's not much that can be done because the don't have the P20 Pro for testing. A shame, and one of the things I miss from y Pixel 2.

They do work, but not correctly. In these applications, when you select text to copy to the clipboard, for instance, the pop-up menu text is unreadable. For me, this severely affects usability, and I gave up using Swift Black altogether.
What themes are compatible with emui because so far I haven't found any. Thanks!
Has anyone tried Swift Installer - Themes & color engine on the P20 Pro? I currently use it on my Note 8 but I'm getting the P20 Pro tomorrow and would be great to have it working.

Hello do you have a root phone or rootless with andromad which options did you take others phones or pixel nexus? Or Samsung one in substratum thx

Full "black" mode?

Does the Pixel 5 have a full "black" mode?
I know you can have "dark" mode but that always looks like dark gre-ish.
The default dark mode turns settings and the quick settings bar into true OLED black - most other Google apps, however, use the default greyish kind of black. I used to solve this problem by using the Swift Black substratum theme (requires root) which makes apps truly black, but after testing it on my Pixel 5 yesterday it seems like it doesn't support Android 11 yet as most apps keep crashing after applying the theme. But I'm getting used to the grey dark mode, even though I prefer the true black one.
I use Swift Black with Substratum on a OnePlus. I'm keen on getting the pixel 5 but I really want the true black... I will wait for a few more weeks to see if root and substratum work properly.

Yeah, coming from a OnePlus 5 with substratum too. Almost every Google app crashes, but the theme applied to Chrome v84 works for some reason. Atleast my browser is now black.
But so far I really got used to the dark grey mode, even though I still prefer true black. The only thing that bothers me is that there is no ambient display for new incoming notifications in A11 anymore. Only a permanent always on display ...
Edit: I just read that maybe this week basic support for Android 11 with Swift might come. So hopefully shouldn't take that long anymore.
