BlackBerry Work is not a widely used app and has problems on almost every device, so it is possible that it does not work, and the chances of getting a good response may be slim. As for running, I installed the app after reading this and it does open fine (but obviously I cannot use it). Do you recall what issues in particular were said about the app?

It worked totally fine for me on the stock rom. I've upgraded to HAVOC now and it still works perfectly after hiding root in Magisk.

Seeing that it is an MDM app there were some reports that it could not be activated. That may or may not be driven by company policy, too.
Either way good to go hear it works at least for some.

Query on Issue Installing Apps

Not sure if this is a LG issue or just an issue only for me, but ever since I've had the phone whenever I install an app it makes my phone go slow / free for a moment while it downloads and installs.
Having a tablet and playing with my gfs phone and others (different makes) this issue does not occur.
Does anyone else have this issue on the 2X?
Ta
I'm using this phone since 13 months and I've used a huge number of roms and kernels.
This issue has existed on every one of them and I've learnt to live with it now.
So don't worry, it's not only specific to your phone

Thanks.
So it's just LG being a pile of ****e then and not testing a phone properly.
Even a cheap £40 phone doesn't have this issue!

Black Screen of Death BSOD

Announcement: Maybe we are close to a software solution
Dear Friends,
my HM2014813 has several problems:
On some AOSP roms I get BSOD: When screen gets locked and black, I can't turn it on unless I remove and reinsert battery.
On LineageOS PowerOFF does not work properly. Ends in a situation like BSOD
After booting into TWRP the touchscreen is unresponsive. I have to lock and unlock, to get response.
I think I'm not alone with this problem. Most of us get recommendations like that: Replace Screen
This problem is not present in every rom. So there should be a solution without hardware modification. What else can we try?
For reference here are the HM codes: source
Redmi 2 1/8GB & 2/16GB/Prime = HM2014811 / 17/18/21 (wt88047)
Redmi 2 A / Enhanced = HM2014812 / 13/16 (wt86047)
Redmi 2 Pro = HM2014819
Before I continue, I'd like to remind you that Redmi 2A is a china-only phone, the chipset isn't Qualcomm based, but Leadcore based. My fellow friends that I know that have a WT86047 aren't Redmi 2A's. They're running Qcom and have no signal loss in my country.
I picked WT88047, but honestly I've seen them in all of those variants (except Redmi 2A variants). I have 4 friends that bought 2016's batch of shipped RM2 (Prime or just RM 2). These friends of mine didn't buy at the same place, 2 of them bought it online and the 2 others bought it from a local vendor (not an official Xiaomi store). From those 4 friends of mine, 2 of my friends got the HM2014813 (WT86047), one got HM2014818 (WT88047) and the last one got a HM2014811 which is the same as mine.
All of them (including me) faced the same bugs (BSOD, screen freezing, TWRP not working). So it's not just a specific variant of RM2, but all of them. Hypothetically (CMIIW) all RM2's that are shipped at 2016 above nearly all of them have this bug (unless you bought it from an official Xiaomi store, which is pretty much hard to find, because Xiaomi don't show, even sell, old phones). 2 of my friends sold their devices, one friend of mine sticked it with it's current case and stayed on stock MIUI & my last friend (with the HM2014813 - WT86047) followed my lead by changing his screen with an official screen that he got from a relative that has an unused RM2, bought from an official vendor. Now me and him can go custom rom or modding all we want without those old bugs that used to plague our phones.
So to the RM2's batch 2016 are all shipped with bad and faulty hardware parts. Mostly nearly of them are faulty sensors. Or maybe those RM2's that are shipped are refurbished RM2's that are given bad parts or maybe bad LCD screens. Like I said before in my previous posts about this, It's the sensors. They are totally bugged. I don't know what made them that way. Why I said it was the sensors? Because my old front sensors got changed when I checked it with a system specs app. My local part vendors sell RM2 LCD's and when you buy a LCD, it's a whole package, you can't by per-parts (unless you disassemble them one buy one). What I mean "it's a whole package" is if you buy an LCD, you will get the touchscreen and front sensors with it. If it's not the sensors, maybe it's the touchscreen (just using my logic here)
I don't know about fixes and stuff (without having to do hardware modif). I'm not a developer, I don't understand that much about BLOBs and shims. Well let's hope someone who's a developer and has a RM2 with those bugs show up with a fix so that people don't have to do any hardware modifications on their bugged RM2's.
Miui stable and best.
All custom roms have good interface but music enchancher , camera not satisfied in custom roms.

Well custom roms are for modification, so If you're not impressed with how the music sounds like in custom roms, you could always just install a mod for it. There's Viper4Android, Dolby Digital Plus, AM3D Zirene, etc. Just find what you need, flash the mod per instructions you need and voila, you've got better music in you're custom rom. Installing these sound mods even work well in MIUI. You've got dozens of Camera apps that may (or maynot) go better on in custom roms than MIUI. Just saying though, if you love MIUI it's fine to stay on MIUI.
For those who has the same problem, try enabling portable hotspot. It solve the problem for me, but yes, it'll also drain your battery faster

I tried it once when my device was still having those bugs. It doesn't work. At all.
I had two redmi 2 online and both had the BSOD issue. It didn't matter which MIUI version it was on, it can still get triggered into the BSOD.
This is the procedure that triggers it.
1.Start an app that generates a lot of objects
2.Keep the device with the app until the back is warm/hot
3.Exit from the app or click home
4.Now quickly press the side power button to turn off screen
5.Redmi Black Screen and cut off from power even if you had music app on.
I have concluded that it might be a hardware issue since I had test another none online redmi 2 with these redmi 2 with the same MIUI version. What should triggered the same effect did not affect the none online redmi 2.
Perhaps using a soft lockscreen button might be able to avoid this issue.
Mine starts getting this problem after I changed the display (bought cheap from aliexpress). Never had a single problem before, while now miui is the only rom that works

There you go, another living proof that BSoD is because of a faulty display. Did you change it again? Or are you still using the cheap screen you bought from AliExpress?
Sorry for delay. Just tried last lineage build, as said it works except on power off

For this Power off issue i've made a automate flow that boots into recovery and offs from there.
.. And we have a "living proof" that this hardware problem can be solved with software.

Then you should thank the devs for pulling this one off. Either they've tweaked or fixed what created the bug or because Android Oreo doesn't communicate with device drivers the same way as it's predecessors. Thanks for testing Oreo and latest Lineage. I'll recommend these to my other pals that are still bugged with BSoD. Cheers :highfive:

Do not buy mate 10.. Or anything by huawei for that matter

The cliche of Chinese products being flawed is unfortunately extending even to well known brands like Huawei which I was hoping wouldn't be the case.
Not long ago I returned yet another dysfunctional piece of kit from a Chinese company and I'm on the verge of returning my Mate 10.
If I knew better I'd also return my Mate 9.
The Mate 9 has had a lot of issues (GPS for example) and for me, ruining my holiday, the random inability to change network settings to allow data roaming. Only a back up and hard reset which took the best part of a day worked.
Now the Mate 10 has the well documented horrific flaw of not updating widgets. What's worse is there is COMPLETE silence from Huawei over this issue despite repeated attempts through various channels for a response by me.
My phone is pretty much unusable. Widgets are the crowning glory of Android and the reason I jumped ship from iPhone and stayed. Without reliable updating widgets the phone is little more than a brick.
With my two experiences with Huawei phones I can categorically say that they are just unreliable sub-par products sadly.
My Samsungs have all had hardware issues (battery related), btu at least whilst they were intact they worked flawlessly as advertised, fit for purpose. The Huaweis are not even getting to the stage to be used enough for the hardware to fail as they are just not fit for purpose - far too buggy.
I hope I never touch a Huawei product again and can only hope that the competitors build phones with specs good enough to compete.
ok

Thanks for the feedback. Perhaps the 10 Pro is different.
For me and for many others (check the threads) this is a big deal that is as yet unresolved even with yesterday's update.
No problems here with my Mate 10.
Using Huawei phones since 2013 and no plans to change yet.

Hehe I could do, but I don't hate Huawei really, I just wouldn't recommend people buy their products based on my (and a whole multi-page threadful of) experiences on the flaws with this phone and Huawei's comically bad response to it, which so far seems to be "if widgets do't work that's not our fault - they are third party apps - you wouldn't buy a car and put a truck engine in it so why are you installing widgets?"... no BS, check out the thread. They are ridiculous. But nowhere near as Apple and their deliberate slowing of phones. My Mate 9 actuall gets faster with use - exactly as Huawei claims., They do do some stuff right!
The widget updating issue is frustrating, but rooting (as I explained in the thread) solves the issue by letting you freeze the responsible system app. You may not want to root -- and I agree that you shouldn't have to root to fix this issue -- but you might be a much happier camper if you did.

Not sure which Widgets you use, but it's mainly the scrolling types that freeze up.
Ok. No scrolling widget. Will try my mail widget later.
Had a p9 since they first came out and now a mate 10 pro. Best phones I have had and don't see any of those issues. Neither of them were rooted either.
No problem on my mate 10 pro. It's strange this message. Just now that the all patriotic America has fear of other smartphone maker. There aren't just apple or samsung...

Ah... it's such a big thread it's got to 12 or 13 pages now (yes guys.... this is a big problem and no i'm not the only one) that I must've missed your solution. Every solution' has come back a couple of days later with "no sorry the problem persists". I'm open to rooting if need be I'm just scared to do it largely because mine is a CHinese one with an international ROM put on it, I have no idea how that will pan out. Or how it will affect other aspects of EMUI. Might be going down a rabbithole there... might be best to return it and buy... well... there's nothing else that comes close to this sadly Grrr.

Hi. As you can find in many other threads and places, you can do it on 2.1 (I know, I am using it ATM). By next week I plan to experiment on the 2.5. If by that time no-one else confirms it, I will let you know

Question Charging Animation (Rear Display)

I recently noticed that rear display charging animation is no longer working after updating it to MIUI Global 12.5.2 (Indian Variant) and before updating it was working perfectly fine.
In MIUI 12.5.4 (EEA) it is normal.

Hey, I never noticed this. Can someone tell what's the animation like?
It shows a sort of liquid indicating the battery left and the percentage of the battery left when you plug in the charger
Check pic
I've never noticed as my phone is normally on its back but Xiaomi say that the latest beta weekly has this updated rear display app. And, yes when checking yesterday, it is fully working now and as in the pics above

Did you check your settings? Something may have changed.
I confirmed, it's working for me. I am on the same ROM.
This is just another whiner complaining that something doesn't work while he is probably the cause of his own problems. XDA used to be site dedicated to custom roms and apps from developers, also hackers with mods and shortcuts, now it's just a bunch of whiners, complaining about virtually everything. In the old days, you would be told to go search this site,as well as the internet for these complaints that are here nowadays.

XDA has gone from a site of doer's to a site full of can't doer's and as unfortunate as it is, that's the truth. Go to the main page of this forum and tell me what most of the articles are about. Almost all of them are complaints, I need a cable, my alarm doesn't work, my battery life is bad, I'm stuck in fastboot, how do you flash rom/TWRP, I'm not getting notifications, how do you unlock bootloader, etc...These are all simple questions that are well documented and many of them are in guides, but to find that information, one needs to search.

Did he search the entire web before he started this whine. I would bet not, charging animation not working, now there's a real issue. Read the thread and you will see that others are not having that problem. Now if this user had searched the entire web, they would realize that perhaps the settings got changed somehow or that the data/cache needed to be cleared.
