Oreo for P580 already out in South Korea - Samsung Galaxy Tab A series Guides, News, & Discus

I just noticed in Sammobile that Oreo for the SM-P580 with built number P580KXU1CRJ7 and Android Version 8.1. I will try it in the morning to see how it works and to see if I can root it.
Has anyone try it yet?

I tried to flash this new firmware with Odin but it didn't flash. Looks like the partitions are different since Odin is asking for a PIT file.
Edit: I was able to flash with the latest version of Odin. The Rom can be set completely to English.
The only issue is that twrp is not working and therefore it can't be rooted yet.

Samsung Turkey has a website that lists the status of updates, it says they're testing the firmware and it will be available on November 15th.
Despite being a member for years, I don't post often so the link is guncelmiyiz[dot]com/cihaz/sm-p580

Every time that I try to download the firmware there is a 503 error on SamMobile, can anyone upload the zip file please? Thanks.
Edit:
I downloaded the rom. The system is a little bit laggy, mostly on the "recent apps" animation when I switch between apps. The good thing is on the S-Pen performance, now is a lot superior compared to Nougat, there is less latency, this is mostly notisable on Medibang Paint, if you used medibang paint on Nougat you will notice that there was an horrible latency on the pen, but now is really better and usable, yeeei

Hi Peter
I have a P585 with South African firmware and I am contemplating whether to update using the UAE firmware.
Do you notice any general slowdown or perhaps is the new Oreo update better in terms of speed in day to day use ?
Did you notice any new features with the SPen on the new firmware ?
Thank you

I don't know, I had tried to flash a russian ROM and it failed, had to reinitialize via kies
I've flashed on my phone lots of roms with odin, the only time one failed was a Serbian ROM, but I thought it was because the download failed.
As soon as I finish downloading this I'll report if it works.

How to install kazakstan firmware to india s5 exynos octa????
hi i have downloaded the kazakstan firmware and i want to install it to s5 india..
my phone is not rooted
please tell me how can i install the firmware?
I am on my 3rd reinstall, first I upgraded via Odin on top of kitkat, and system was too slow, 2nd I rooted via auto root (It works btw) and apparently I deleted with Titaniun Backup something important and system refused to boot. 3rd reinstall I just rooted and deleted some bloatware and everything is working ok. This is Multilingual btw. overall not so fast no so slow, I use cm12 official nightly in another device and its just a bit slower. Used Sammobile link to get the file
Hi! i downloaded it today and it's running now! works great! i don't know how to root the device with android 5
It works perfectly. Although I tried different versions of the country. Can we root that? Is anyone try to root it?

Firmware n920i

Hey there, might be a simple question but I can't get a straight answer.
So I have a n920i from Singapore and want to be ready to unroot if marshmallow comes up. So I checked the firmware compilation on Sammobile. The question is, can I simply install any firmware for the n920i or do I have to take the exact matching one. Like... Can i take one from Australia instead of Singapore. Because the one from Singapore supports very little languages (only 3) by default.
Here's a screen of my current software.
I believe you can. I bought my 920i from eBay which is not aussie stocks and I just flash the Aussie firmware. So far it has been working great not a single issues.
Oh, I have the Australia N920I and was thinking of flashing the singapore N920I firmware because it is the latest. Anyone do this?

I believe the Aussie is newer than the Singapore version at least that's what I have checked at Sammobile recently. Anyway I just flash the Aussie thought maybe it's better since I'm using the phone locally baseband wise.
The Aussie version latest firmware is aug. 10, 2015.
The Singapore latest firmware version is October 2015. Am I seeing this wrong?

If you are referring to non carrier then you should just install the xsa or Australia only. Not the optus or voda. By the way firmware is the stock rom you downloaded from the Sammobile.
I have the non carrier n920i Australia. I downloaded the full firmware and there were 4 files inside. Bl, ap, CSC, and cp. Do I need to flash just 1file or all. Sorry and thanks for your help

I would flash the entire firmware. I am pretty sure if you mix and match parts of firmware it will trip Knox. At the very least it will break things like Google Play Movies & TV. At least it broke mine.

I believe you can flash different region as long as for they are the same model such as n920i or c..or g. ..or whatever model is.
And yes you are right. ..why take the risk in messing up your phone when it is better to just flashing the whole firmware rather than part here and there.
So that means it would be possible for me to just flash a marshmallow firmware if available and have done? Without wiping and stuff I mean...

You can but some settings could cause issues if you go to a different version of android without wiping (ie 4.4.x to 5.0.x or 5.1.x to 6.0.x) which is why I always wipe between versions and recommend others do so
I've got the N920I Singapore version, flashed AU FW several times, back and forth between Sing and Aus. So long as you have a N920I no issues with any of the FW. Make sure you flash using the latest 3.10.7 Odin though. Older version do not work
Thank u all for your quick and precise responses!

Question about updating
Hi, first post on xda.
My phone is an AT&T version but I live in AU, and I want to update it to marshmallow from what it is currently on (5.1.1), and it won't update since I'm not in the U.S.
It's currently on AUCU3BO12.
Can I flash this PG1 without upgrading to anything else first? Can it go from 5.1.1 to 6.0.1 directly from BO12? (According to AT&T's website, BO12 is a bit down the line in terms of updates, there have been a number since).
Edit: Also, which .tar file do I use out of the 4?
Thanks!
Does anyone know the answer to the above?
Finally unbricked my G920 Samsung Galaxy S6 with this
Thank you so much for this. I bricked my phone by stupidly flashing a 5.1 firmware and i've been scrambling to fix it for about a week now. And I couldn't find these files anywhere. Thank you so much

I also meant like my update that I'm on I havent seen anything about it. When I go to the Samsung.firmware.science and then it asks for my current build, mine is not listed.

I want to try this out but I'd be afraid to since I would be afraid of skipping an update is all lol. New to the Samsung scene and haven't been doing this for awhile.

This firmware was only captured for only 2 firmwares on the s9 side
I looked for the s9+ also but like ya said its not there yet my guess its not on the s9 server yet or could be a different build number but I wouldn't figure
I would look up your build and android 9 is a 2GB size firmware look for the newest by month and date under the firmware you are on now

If your on the latest oreo you should just be able to download the update.zip but it on the root of your sd card
Boot into recovery and select apply update from sd card I did that and work flawlessly

You say we have to have the latest update. Just to verify, I have update ending in ARIC and do not have any pending updates. I have G965U Sprint and I can't seem to get any info about this update nor seeing anyone else with this update so far.

If u want to get pie, u have to get the ARI6 Odin files which are about 4GB. This is an Oreo file with September Patch. The subsequent update files on SamsungFirmwareScience is all you would need going forward after that to upgrade to Pie and other Patches if u choose to stay on Oreo. You just need to take a leap of faith and downgrade to ARI6 using the Patched Odin by Thomas or so 3.13.3

And I could just sideload the unlocked version of the ARI6 file? Like I wouldn't need carrier specific? According to SamMobile, there's no ARI6 for the Sprint (cdma) it only goes up go ARI4

All Samsung firmware are not carrier specific. Now how your phone works with the firmware is totally unknown to me. Sprint is weird since it's a cdma network. If u were on a GSM network i would have said it's as easy as pie. But to answer your question yes, it's simple as pie to just download Odin and ari6, put your phone in download mode, load the files to Odin (if u want to retain your sprint software use HOME_CSC rather than CSC) then run the update files from there using adb sideload from the recovery menu

SM-N960W to SM-N960U1: OTA?

Hello, simple question: I've converted my N960W running Android 9 into a N960U1 running Android 10.
I've read somewhere that Samsung can somehow detect when you flash a firmware from a different model, and blocks OTA updates. Is it true?

Thanks Trex for the answer. Not what I was hoping for but yeah... flashing with Odin doesn't take that long anyway

I've switched back and fort and never had an issue getting OTA. It's weird that some folks are affected that way and others are not.
Honestly N960W is almost similar to stock android, you get stock caller ID & block, Samsung cloud, and security features which are not available in carrier roms, All of carrier rom comes with bloatwares on them as well.

If you are okay with Andriod 10 thats fine as you won't be getting any more android update on note 9, so its totally fine even if you not getting any OTA updates

Unfortunately, the stock Videotron "w" rom my phone comes with has some carrier crap (un-deleteable bookmarks and apps mostly, related to different media companies/newspapers belonging to Videotron's owner like an app called J5, Journal de Montreal/Quebec bookmarks, etc.)
The U1 ROM is 100% clean

I was thinking of converting my Fido N960W to U1 also. Is there a particular guide you followed?

No just download the latest U1 rom and flash it with the patched version of Odin here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/patched-odin-3-13-1-t3762572
That will factory reset your device though so backup your stuff first
And to answer the question I've asked in this thread, I've received the February OTA update a few days ago

Great! Thanks for your help.
Is it better to use HOME_CSC_ or CSC_ when going from 960W to U1?
