Huawei Mate 20 Pro Camera's Capture Smiles function - Huawei Mate 20 Pro Guides, News, & Discussion

By default, the capture smiles function was set to off. How to set it on all the time? I found out that the camera will auto turn after a while. Any reason why the camera auto turn off this feature?

My problem solved after someone advised me in facebook that clear date & cache in camera apps under phone settings.

The problem still persist. After close the camera a while, switch on the feature turned off.

yeah i can confirm this.. even after clearing data and cache, it seems like default option is set to off....

Either this is bug or there is reason why Capture Smiles auto set to off after a while. How do we report to Huawei?

Help! Screen does not turn off

Hello,
I have a problem and I want to ask if somebody may have had it too. My screen sometimes with no apparent reason does not turn off after the one minute I had set in display settings, it does not turn off at all when I am not using it, It goes off if i press the power button but not by itself, and the problem goes away if I reboot my device but then it happens again (not so often)... Do you guys know what it is?
Does this happen when the device is perfectly still....or when it's being vibrated...like in a car. Could be staying on cause it thinks you're using it.
Just a guess.

Thanks for the replay . It happens sometimes when it is perfectly still. Never happens to me on a car.
I'm stumped then, sorry. ?
Presuming you don't have an app such as profile scheduler, etc, which will override the settings for what you set the particular profile to, though I would guess most apps wouldn't have a "no screen timeout" setting -and presuming no app such as Screen On which would keep the screen on, but only with apps you select

Well thanks anyway I suppose I'll try a factory reset and see how things go. If anybody knows anything about this please let me know.

Yes, I don't have any apps like that, I mean with such a "screen timeout" setting.

Frozen screen after waking up screen

At some point after upgrading to Android 9 I started having the following issue where if the screen turns off due to inactivity and I turn it back on by pressing the power button, I see whatever screen I had open before it went to sleep but it's frozen. Scrolling touching etc still perform (invisible) actions but the screen is frozen until I either press the app switch button or perform some action that would change the current application. While the screen is frozen the drawer from the top works just fine. Also when the app that gets frozen is the desktop (I'm using the default launcher), I can see the background scrolling if I swipe left or right but the widgets don't change, they are frozen.
Does anyone else have the same problem? Any ideas what could be causing it?

FWIW I have not really solved the problem but I am circumventing it by having the screen lock immediately instead of waiting 5 minutes. That way I have to unlock with a fingerprint every time the screen is off, and unlocking refreshes the screen which "fixes" the problem.

There were lot of reports of glitchy phones after the Pie update.
The cure was a factory reset or software repair with Xperia Companion
Use Xperia Transfer to back up your calls/contacts/texts before you reset the phone

Can you please link a thread, where users told, that problem is solved after reset?
I have the same frozen display (since Android Pie), when turning display off and on again.
Don´t wish to reset and install all again, if that does not help.
bye,
Ralf

Hi Ralf,
the phone will always work better with a reset after a major update, all the Oreo applications are trying to work under Pie. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Oreo apps aren't made to work under Pie and they can error.
here, is one example, or another, but I didn't jump to Pie because of all the negative feedback and the scores of people trying to downgrade.
A reset will fix your problem and if you use Xperia transfer then the amount of personal information lost will be minimal.
Thanks for the links.

This sounds to me, the combination of "old" Navi-apps with Pie is the problem. May be only with Pie on some Sonys.
I'm afraid, a reset will not change the frozen display.
All other apps till now do not freeze after display-on except MagicEarth and Osmand+
This 2 apps i deinstalled (+ deleting the data) and installed again.

Xperia transfer shows me only 2 apps for backup.
I'll probably try a reset in the next few days anyway.

Looks like there is know issue with the Osmand+, the date of the post is may last year, but it may just be a 'feature'
When backing up with Xperia transfer, make sure you select all the boxes that are optional. It's things like text messages/contacts/phone history that are useful after a reset. Some apps can't be moved and have to be downloaded directly from the playstore, but Google should give you that option, after you log back in to the wiped phone.
Edit: I can recomend Sygic, free maps for one country, works without data.
In the meantime, I found more users with this problem and a little solution that another user describes:
I can confirm I have the exact same issue since Android 9 with my Xperia xz1 compact.
I normally have no lockscreen options set. So when I wakeup the Phone, it sometimes kind of 'locks' the screen. Widgets do not respond, I cannot switch home screens. The time on the status bar remains correct. If I then click on an app and go back, everythning behaves normally.
So I'm quite sure this must be a software issue, as other people have this problem to.
My workaround for now is to have a lockscreen option aktive. But I would rather have not, for conveniance.
I tested this also with safe mode and complete factory reset of the phone. The 'bug' is still there.

If I disable lockscreen, then apps stop when it is switched on again. However, I always have to enter pin or use fingerprint sensor, or smart lock.
This often does not work when cycling and is dangerous when cardriving.
On Android 8, the lockscreen did not need to be active.
So the problem is not Osmand and MagicEarth.
It is a Sony 9 bug with Android 9.
bye,
Ralf
Found in an other forum an easy method to reproduce the problem.
disable the screen lock (it must be set to "None");
lock the phone and then unlock it;
lock and unlock it again.

Because I believe that Sony will not fix the error, I could imagine a solution:
An app (possibly tasker), which puts a selectable running app from foreground while pressing the power button in the background and immediately brings it back to the foreground.
Does anyone know such a tool?

Ralf

Why does auto brightness reset after every restart?

I disable auto brightness every time. After every reboot, it resets back to default auto. How can i. fix this? Is this 'normal'?

Yeah facing the same problem here
It's a bloody nightmare wish they would sort it
It's a long standing issue apparently, i didn't know this before I purchased it, something i cannot live with amongst other issues, the nice chap in Currys saw exactly what it was doing and put it down to a fault and happily refunded me, apparently it's a "Feature" from hwawei to optimise the battery every restart, go figure.
Also there isn't a quick toggle for auto brightness... Wtf???
P30 Pro 256gb Aurora Power
They seem to be very big on wanting to proove they can save battery life but at the expense of functionality, same kinda thing with the over agressive app power management which saves tons of battery but then you don't get any notifications lol
This auto brightness issue is really bugging me too, not to the extent of returning the phone but i would really like them to see this setting as a user option rather than them forcing it back to auto each reboot. at the end of the day if you wanted it left on auto brightness you would just leave it on yourself wouldn't you lol
Same here, joined the conversation just in case there's a fix and I don't notice.
Guyz all issues u need to contact huawei via HiCare.. xda won't help with the new phones.. anymore.. rooting is fading out and will eventually die..
Answer
You must tap few times on build number field so you could enable developer options and then in developer options just turn off readibillity under sunlight.. ?

It isn't related. I tried it and after every reboot the auto brightness is on again
This auto brightness "feature" and hi search "feature" could be better if they were optional!?
I'm with you all on this, it's so ****ing annoying.
i found out u can fix the brightness with this app:
"Brightness Level - Screen" https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.paksoftwares.brightnesslevel

Lockscreen rotation

Hi guys. so even though rotation is enabled for lockscreen, it stays in portrait mode. home rotation is fine.
it works on first login after restart, and then stops working.
anybody has this issue?
I had a similar issue once.. Not sure what caused it but was playing with using bixby routines to prevent rotation on front screen in that time frame and ended up loosing rotation on inner no matter what it was set to. It was a PIA to get cleared as jumped around alot looking for answers but believe I ended up turning off rotation, clearing data sets in bixby routines and clearing dalvik/cache in recovery. After that enabling rotation again worked on both and allowed me to add back the routine without issue. Can't say for sure that will work for you but was part of the path I took to resolve my issue. Hope iot helps.

thanks for the answer. for now it seems uninstalling goodlock and all related tweaks including multistar + clearing dalvik cache and using third party wallpapers with 1x1 ratio helped! I don't know what is causing the problem but just doing one of these steps alone doesn't work for me!
btw I just realized I posted this in the wrong subforum. appreciate it if moderators move it to Q&A. thanks.
