Anyone rooted this already? Any custom ROMs available? - Huawei MediaPad M5 Lite Questions & Answers

While there is quite some information about the Mediapad M5, there is not much about the M5 lite.
I am afraid the procedures described for the M5 are not applicable for M5 lite, so any hints are appreciated.
Thank you...

Yes, with this tutorial: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mediapad-m5/how-to/root-root-guide-huawei-mediapad-m5-t3786157
Works on M5 lite as well, tried it myself

How can I unlock my Bootloader on M5 lite C432?

Anyone has Update.App image from stock rom to share please? I'm trying to find Huawei stock firmware, but no success

Use the Firmware Finder for Huawei (Play Store) on your tablet and then extract Update.app as described in the link above

Unlocked and rooted my M5 Lite WiFi by M5 Guide.
M5 Lite WiFi somehow doesn't have a multi user options! Looks like they have been hidden. Ordinary M5 has them, and M5 Lite LTE is believed to have multi user functionality.
We really need a ROM with multi user functions..

It work´s for me. With DC-unlocker I got the key. And now... it works. Thanx!

Has anyone flashed TWRP on this tablet? could you share a link for it?

I'm also looking at M5 Lite (LTE). However, I'm not big fan of Huawei Android interface; therefore, if someone was able to install any other ROM on M5 Lite, please tell us.

Yeah, got the same, but I can't find it on this list: https://www.dc-unlocker.com/supported_models_1/huawei_phones
There are only the M5 and M5 Pro.
Maybe there are other models on the DC Unlocker app?

Please, look here: https://www.android-hilfe.de/forum/...diapad-m5-10-1-lite.896009.html#post-11313139

Hi,
Could anyone with rooted device try this method of multiusers enabling
https://www.xda-developers.com/add-multi-user-support-android/
Does it work on M5 Lite?

It's so sad that there's no dev givin' some attention to this device, which is becoming more and more popular thanks to its price cut in these holidays...

I totally agree its a marvelous tablet but with a ****ed modified Android,
i have a 64Go SD card and i cant put anything on that !
Need a ROM as for the Mediapad M5

Yes, i can confirm that,
Multiuser works for me on Mediapad M5 Lite (BAH2-W19) on Stock EMUI 8.
For EMUI you must edit /system/emui/lite/prop/local.prop instead of build.prop, like suggested here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/p8...-root-add-multi-user-support-disable-t3602872
Root is needed of course

I tried to follow the guide of post #2 and I am stuck at step 14. When I try to boot in download mode, I am seeing the attached pic and can't do anything. Any help is welcome!

Has anyone an twrp for m5 lite?

With multi user and disabling the "shortcuts" it would make for a great tablet.

Light painting in P8 Lite

Hey,
I've got a question - has somebody port the camera app from Chinese firmware? I have android 6.0 on my P8 lite, but light painting was not included. I've tested this option on P8 and i want to have it on my phone
Thanks
Someone posted it once couldn't find it. Would be really thankful too if someone does.
already try it it wont install
you need to flash the chineese firmware to have it
Yes, but i don't want to lose warranty when i install Chinese soft. It's matter what soft i am using?

I guess hypotheticaly you would loose your warranty but you can almost always recover your phone from software issues and only have to send it in for hardware stuff and they most likely wont even realize that youre using chinese software so it doesnt actually matter, but its at your own risk.

I very rarely ask questions and only if i really cannot find the answer. But i think someone has gotten on Sokkoban's nerves. So they are no longer accessible...

Hello,
yesterday I write an email to Huawei Support for download link to MM Source code for Mate S, if I receive it, is there any chance for LineageOS Nougat or Oreo ROM?

Rom doesn't exist. This is one of the usual methods to lure stupid users into advertising, subscription or casinos.
So, I noticed that there is a beta of Lineage OS for the P8, which has almost the same hardware as our Mate S: https://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-p8/development/rom-lineageos-13-0-14-1-t3585290 This is Android 7 and 6, so that means that Android 7 (N) should also work on our Mate S (https://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?&idPhone2=7533&idPhone1=7006)
I believe porting this beta to Mate S shouldn't be that difficult for a dev with some experience (I'm afraid I have 0 experience and knowledge).
Maybe someone better suited could take a look at this? I can help with whatever I can.
You're wrong about the p8. Search for roms for the Honor 7. These will work on the mate s. I've tested several. But no sim is recognized at all and wifi is not possible. My mate s has a display damaged. That's why I couldn't think of a solution.
Oh, now that makes sense. Thanks for the clarification!
Well, if you ever wanna test remotely I'm sure there's a bun hat of us who would risk testing experimental builds
Alternatively people could donate to you so you could buy a mate s or maybe fix yours.
If you could build pure aosp I would gladly donate to see that happen.
Cheers!

No one knows the mate's as well as I do. Developed the first rooting, supersu tuned to it, built an extra kernel and make some emui custom roms. Some good developers have tried a porting. Not yet possible.

I have L29C567B183 and I flashed this rom B211. It booted up however many functions does not work properly for example I cannot get into developer option, backup and restore will reboot the phone, fingerprinting does not work, .... I flashed Kangvip B186 without problem. I do not think it will work properly on your phone unless your firmware is up to date (B211).

New ZUK Z2 Pro user needs help?

Hi, i have just bought a Z2 Pro and i have a few questions on what's the best setup i can do with it and put onto it. I think i have the international ROM on the device as it came with Google Play store and it has plenty of languages to choose from.
In Settings/About it states it has Android 6.0.1 and ZUI Version 2.3.044 ST on it.
I cannot for the life of me find how to check if there is an update for the ZUI on the phone so i am wondering how i can go about updating the firmware without voiding any warranty. I have limited experience in rooting phones and i would like to see if i can live with the latest ZUI version before delving into custom ROM'S to be honest.
Can anyone point me in the right direction as to how to upgrade the official international firmware for the ZUK Z2 Pro?
Regards
Stuart
it seems you've an unofficial vendor ROM
so you need to unlock bootloader and then flash with QFIL tool proper stock ROM or custom ROM (GizRom Nougat 7.x).
you will find all infos here: zukfans.eu/community/forums/zuk-z2-pro.4/
Thank you for clearing it up for me. I will look into bootloaders and flashing a ROM version onto it to get a more up to date version of android.

With QFIL you don´t need to unlock your bootloader

I managed to update to the latest ZUI but if i am honest it's not to my liking as half of the apps and writing is in Chinese so it's got to go.
I am now looking at how to put a custom Nougat ROM on that doesn't have many problems on the Z2 PRO. I believe i will have to figure out how to root the phone and possibly unlock the bootloader before flashing.
Are there any guides in how to flash a custom ROM on this site and what would be considered the best ROM to use?

I followed this guide which worked fine for unlocking the bootloader and rooting : https://forum.xda-developers.com/zuk-z2-pro/how-to/howto-install-mokee-7-1-1-unofficial-t3582686
Except instead of flashing Mokee, I recommend flashing this version of AICP : https://forum.xda-developers.com/zuk-z2-pro/development/rom-aicp-12-1-n-zuk-z2-pro-t3596836 . It's not officially supported by AICP but it's the only one I found where everything works perfectly, including customizing the U-touch gestures, and it comes with Magisk to manage root which is nice I think. Just don't forget to deactivate the 3 Chinese apps that are bundled with the ROM.

Dude you're still on first beta version.
Rollbacks are always risky
You can downgrade using old hi suite and rollback firmware from funky huawei (paid) or try to use firmware finder erecovery method. There are manuals here on xda, just do little search.
You can also try to upgrade to latest official version and then downgrade to oreo using official channels mentioned above.

Man, you need this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-p20-pro/how-to/guide-force-update-using-firmware-t3963074
Select a 8.1 firmware for downgrade. You find clear instructions at the linked page.
