OMG too difficult. lmao a lot of your patched boot are outdated. it's not difficult to make a patched boot, extract it from phone or rom and patch it. i can use my own androidfilehost instead of your repo, not my prob.
I just past my opinion on an outdated guide, if you don't like me i don't care.

Mine is a laptop, but it's still giving the same error on another USB port

I have seen that error before (Write to device failed. Too many links). It's related to the usb connection. It's usually an issue with either the usb port or the usb driver.

Replace battery, it happened to my mi3.
use this link http://www.technobuzz.net/flash-miui-6-stable-rom-on-brickeddead-mi-4i-with-fastboot-mode/
i specifically used this rom
http://bigota.d.miui.com/V7.0.5.0.K...ICI_20151016.0000.3_4.4_global_d918563f7e.tgz
Yup use a MIUI Fastboot Rom and flash it . Also get a latest MI flash tool , its quite easy and less driver issues with Win 10 .
nope my battery is all good.. actually i was rooting by installing twrp recovery then my phone went into FASTBOOT.. and after many attemps to solve this problem my phone is badlt.. bricked

Can not go to Recovery mode or Fast boot Mode or Boot up "Black Screen"
but still detect USB mode at PC (device manager)
Must conect to PC:
1.install adb driver
2.install Miphone Module (MiFlash Module)
3.Download Stock miui rom (Fastboot Rom not flashzip rom)
4.extract your fastboot miui download rom (extract file should be one image folder and some flash file.bat)
5.Copy MiFlash.exe from your instalation from step 2 to fastboot rom extract directory
6.Conect your phone to pc
7.Start MiFlash exe from extract directory
8.Browse Fastboot rom when you already extract before from MiFlash.exe Taskbar
9.Choose one method flash from bottom taskbar
10.And Click Flash...wait until 100% succesfull
11.Your Done
Test under Xiaomi Mi4W
OS:Win.8.1 x64
Hope this is can help
My Regard
If you previously installed any miui rom 6.0 you modify all ****.bat files in decompressing archive of fastboot rom. Delete modem1, boot1 and system1 words and save. Try this soluciĆ³n and write resulta.

Found any solution or not, if not then you have to follow the steps
1. switch off the phone(not even black screen long press on black screen)
2. now connect the usb and it will get detected, open cmd and check if it's being shown in fastboot devices
3. if it is download any MIUI Fastboot ROM(not any but the one you were using before the bricking) and then use the command "fastboot flash" one by one(i'll update the filelist to flash later)
4. you'll get it back as it happened to me and i got it back
and try this select each and every file specified in the post: [Tips & Tutorials] Install rom fastboot with MiFlash for all compatible devices
if it doesn't work i'll just update this post with exact method as i forgot it now

Help installing TWRP on Xiaomi mi5

Hello people
i'm aware that there are guides out there, but i'm honestly not the best at all this flashing stuff, i have done it to a few phones but this one needs to be done just right!
So, where should i begin?, i reckon i should start with unlocking the phone via the unlock tool (i am registered and accepted) and then flash TWRP via that tool?
or is the best/only way of flashing TWRP with the ADB fastboot?

my problem now is i have no idea how to get miui 7 on it. Iknow that all CM based roms will end in a bootloop if i try to flash with that on.
i have tried a number of things, last time i tried i ended up with it not detecting my sim card, so i had to revert back to Miui 8

Your thread is getting slightly confusing so let's do it step by step.
Is your phone currently unlocked?
To check, put it into fastboot mode manually without adb:
Turn off your device. Then turn on your device again while holding volume down button.
Plug in your device. Use fastboot:
Code:
fastboot oem device-info
Post screenshots.
Reboot your phone. Post a screenshot of your "About phone" settings menu.

I also tried this way.But not miflash tool. I use twrp to flash global stable rom, boot up the rom and flash twrp through fastboot. And then you can flash your favourite rom.
Hi,
sorry to hijack this thread, but i also have problem flashing TWRP.
I have unlocked phone.
I have USB debugging enabled.
I can reboot to fastboot via adb.
I ca flash twrp (twrp-3.0.2-1-gemini.img 25.2M 2016-07-19 18:48:36 EDT).
But when i go to recovery i still see Mi PcSuite thing. No twrp.
What am i doing wrong? IS there some other, more appropriate twrp image?

I got mine sorted out, what you are missing is when you are done flashinh you have to type "Fastboot reboot" and then set TWRP to default recovery
hope that helps you out
Same problem for me, when i type "Fastboot reboot", my Mi5 reboot quickly and after when i go to recovery i see also Mi PC Suite....
Do you have a workaround ?
Second question, is it normal that time to send TWRP.img to phone in ADB is only 0,9s ?

Our devices don't have a recovery partition to flash to.
Read the install instructions correctly:
https://twrp.me/motorola/motorolamotox4.html
You should use "fastboot boot twrp-3.2.1-0-payton.img" instead.
Then, follow along:
This will temporarily boot TWRP on your device. If you are using a lockscreen pin/pattern/password and do not get prompted to enter your password, reboot to the bootloader and try again. Go to install and browse to the zip and install the zip. The zip will install TWRP to both boot slots. Installing TWRP at this time will remove root if you are currently rooted.

I think the right command is this:
fastboot flash boot [file name].img
No,
If you accidently flash TWRP to your device using fastboot instead of temporarily booting the image, you will need to download the latest firmware for your device and reflash the boot image.

I could be wrong but it seems like you are trying to flash TWRP to the recovery partition and there's no such thing on this phone. You have to temporarily boot TWRP and the keep following the instructions.
Is anybody able to backup / restore the phone with android one on encrypted file system??, im using the official twrp, but restoring backups just cause bootloops
is it necessary to unlock the bootloader before?
If you're asking if the bootloader needs to be unlocked to install magisk, absolutely!
Sorry for the dumb question but how do you unlock the bootloader on the Fi Android one Version?
Potential fix

If you are still haven't fixed this yet the issue is you need to fastboot boot the boot twrp image and then flash the flash image inside twrp. The guide on TWRP official will give you a guide on how to do this, the files required are also there.

Yes, the thing is, that I can see the device connected and adb tries to push the .img but that fails.
Ps. Just updated the platform tools and tried the same command init_boot with no result.
But trying "flash boot etc" was successful for "boot_b", but magisk is still not installed

ADB 33.0.3 is recommended due to issues with 34.0+.
Init_boot is the correct image to patch to root the Pixel 7.
What mode is your device in? Bootloader? Fastbootd?

Make sure you're using the correct firmware, too. Panther for Pixel 7, Cheetah for Pixel 7 Pro. I believe the boot/init_boot images are similar but just to be safe...

Solved, it actually was that i patched boot.img instead of init_boot.img, so the size difference.
Thank you very much for your help and time
