Official Android pie update will support treble? - Moto X4 Questions & Answers

Treble user will get Android Q test ?

I don't understand your English.

The Pie update may or may not bring Treble support. It's unlikely because the X4 launched w/ Nougat and will have gone through 2 major updates (Oreo and pie). I doubt it will get Q.

One plus update to Android 8.1 OP 3 / 3T?

Do you think that One Plus updates OP 3 / 3T to Android 8.1 or will it leave it in stable 8.0?
I doubt it. They want us to buy newer models.
As told to consumers by the Staff, the 3/3T will not be getting 8.1 Oreo as it is beyond the update cycle of the phones.
8.0 will be the final update pushed out officially by OnePlus.
However, you do have the choice of using ROM's when the Developer Previews are done on the Google Nexus/Pixel devices.
Edit: As pointed out to me by @Samitha192, Adam Krisko at OnePlus confirmed that 8.1 will be coming to the 3/3T.
Let's get 8.0 rolled out beyond open beta before we start speculating the future.

They said Oreo would be the last version, not 8.0 ! I believe that 8.1 belong to Oreo

It is under Oreo in AOSP, but it is a major OS revision. The Galaxy S7 did not get 7.1 , but it did get 7.0.
Don't keep hopes on OEM's releasing updates for phones that may be 2 years old when the 8.1 development has begun.

Samsung won't be updating their devices to 7.1 unless it's the device last update.
Any currently OS updated phone by Samsung will be done updated to Oreo.

8.1 looks more incremental than the jump from 7.0 to 7.1 (new sdk and some drastic changes)
Hopefully we get 8.1 on our devices. If OP to stop supporting 3/3t I'm expecting them to release the camera blobs so we can get 100% out of the hardware moving forward. :good:
I think these two will get the official android 8.1 update as there is already an unofficial Nitrogen OS 8.1 ROM for OnePlus 3/3T based on android 8.1 oreo is availble.

They said somewhere that they will release a 8.1 update for our phone, but can't find the source at the moment.
I only found this article: OnePlus 3/3T and 5/5T will get Android 8.1 Oreo but no Project Treble

Tbh Nitrogen 8.1 is better than Oxygen. Battery life is about an hour better with stock kernel.

I can second this, really impressed with the 12/12 build of NitrogenOS Oreo 8.1 ROM. Only thing I miss is SELinux enforced, but this will probably be changed when everything is working in enforced mode.

Yeah only reason its permissive is because this is a user-debug build. If I were to build a user build, it would be enforced and all.

Has anyone tested for treble on the oreo beta?

I'm looking for a treble device to start learning rom development and I'm wondering if treble is confirmed on the P10.
Thanks.
It is for the beta oreo version.
P10 PLUS
P10 plus b360
P10 (not plus) also supports Treble
Yeah it has treble support, I've tried treble stock 8.0 rom by phhusson and it had worked, but it had not been stable so i rolled back to emui 8. Hope someone will make a p10 rom on the base of treble
On a side note, quick question, will the Huawei P10 get Android P?

I think yes, with treble support Its easier to make updates
P10 will more than likely get Android P thanks to treble support and hopefully the waiting time will be reduced considerably.

Project Treble for XZ1 Compact

I was just surfing random android stuffs on internet and eventually found the "Project Treble"!!
https://forum.xda-developers.com/project-treble
After then I installed the app known as "Project Treble" in app store, this app tells you if your device is capable for this project or not. And good thing for us that XZ1 Compact is supported.
I have unlocked my bootloader, so there is no chance for getting any OTA updates.
Well, I was never worried about not getting OTA updates because XZ1 Compact is already a year old and sony will eventually stop rolling the updates after sometime, but unlike sony, Project Treble seems more promising for regular security updates and many more other things that sony will probability never provide.
As for example look at this thread : https://forum.xda-developers.com/pr...device-development/rom-aosp-extended-t3821934
Here you can see that they are providing kernel 4.9, while we, who are still on kernel 4.4 even after latest pie update.
And this also : https://www.xda-developers.com/google-test-android-q-project-treble-gsi/
Keeping all these apart, I just wanted to ask if any XZ1 Copmact user has tried this "Project Treble" or not??
And if yes then please share your reviews here.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers
There's various posts about Project Treble in this device's forum. I'll leave the searching for you.
I didn´t try with the latest Pie firmware yet.
With Android 8.0 as base I was able to run almost every Treble-ROM based von Android 8.1, Android 9.0 bootloops. May be it is working together with the latest Pie rom as well.

Thank you very much for your valuable reply.
Can you please suggest good stable ROM that has working camera and VOLTE ?

Because project treble doesnt affect the stock rom functionality you must do the same as if you were on stock. Install drm fix and Magisk in twrp and permissive kernel patch via Magisk when in Android.
I suggest AOSP from the creator himself or resurrection Rom.
I have got no idea about Volte

Security updates (on unlocked version)?

I'm looking at purchasing an unlocked Razer phone 2 and am wondering since the switch to Pie, is the OS getting regular monthly security updates?
no
its caf based not aosp
Thank you for the reply. Their support team gave me another answer so I'm glad I reached out to the community instead.
you can always unlock bootloader and flash phh-aosp treble gsi with latest latest security patches
(other gsi than phh cause bootloop even Google ones!)

A2 update to pie or not?

I am still using oreo because pie had loads of bugs.
So, I want to know whether July's Security Patch is stable enough to replace Oreo?
Will I be able to rollback to Oreo after the update?
Is there any patch for fingerprint bug on oreo cuz rest is working just fine.
Or should I go for Miui?
